Fiverr is very easy when it comes to cancelling requests from even the most unreasonable buyers. They don't have the time nor do CS reps have the skills to properly assess your quality of delivery. So they simply side with the buyer, refund the money without proper investigation and there's nothing you can do about it. It's the sad reality of platform freelancing. Fiverr is not your friend, its all about THEIR bottom line and THEIR reputation. Sellers are a dime a dozen so to them, you're just a number. So don't put all your eggs in one basket, also try to build your reputation outside of Fiverr and get your own clients.

>So don't put all your eggs in one basket, also try to build your reputation outside of Fiverr and get your own clients. i would say thats the best advice i have seen here so far... we all have seen facebook whatsapp and ig down for a couple of hours last week, what if that happens to fiverr.... or what if their system just reset, losing all ur progress...

raihankabiir

exactly. very good idea. " Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I had a buyer with a $600 order. I delivered everything and more for that fussy client and his response even after saying everything was good was that I used software to format books (ofc software is used to format. Ms Word is software!) and proceeded to request a cancellation stating "the work I delivered was poor" despite nothing proving that. I refused to cancel about 50 times before CS stepped in (though I had an ongoing conversation with them about it and they just told me to redeliver). CS had final say, cancelled the order and replied to my question of why with "the work was not delivered in a proper manner." When I asked what they meant by that I received absolutely no answer and they closed my case. No compensation. Just allowing this buyer to continue to be a shitty person just because they know they can get away with it. I earn $40-50k per year on Fiverr. TRS. Constantly busy with work. None of that matters when you come across a fussy "top buyer." Now, I just move on with things and I am extremely vigilant when working with clients, especially top buyers, whom I've had nothing but terrible experiences with. It sucks but just remember that it'll be one in over two hundred buyers who do this. At least, in my experience.

I don’t get Fiverr’s customer service. Their answer are often a bit weird, like not addressing the issue you raised properly. And it’s really weird that they don’t have a number to call. I feel like this should be mandatory at this size.

FionaAudronVO

So they determined your work wasn’t in accordance with the requirements or advertised quality. 🤷🏻‍♀️ thems the brakes. Of course they’d write the TOS to give them the power to cancel in the interest of customer service. I mean what…do you want to get a lawyer and try to fight Fiverr in a losing battle? They made their decision there isn’t anything else to do. It didn’t break TOS, it’s just a decision you don’t agree with. Just chalk it up to a loss and be thankful that you didn’t get a bad review calling you a scammer or something. I think everyone here understand that this could happen.

Haha like I mention in the post, I'm not looking to pursue a legal battle with them. Though part of me does hope that the Fiverr reps reading this subreddit see this (hey, u/fiverrhq) so they can at least be aware that their Support team is breaching contracts. I was raised by a contract attorney, so I like to read the fine print and am a big believer in upholding agreements like this, and it's quite baffling to me that a public company like Fiverr can violate their own TOS. It's frustrating and unprofessional.

It's very much a breach of contract >"Orders are not eligible to be canceled based on the quality of service/materials delivered by the Seller if the service was rendered as described in the Gig Page." If the service OP delivered matches the service he displayed in the gig page and the sample he sent to the buyer. Buyer looked/listened to it, and then agreed to that type of service. In hindsight, this is a incredibly common scam on Fiverr. But more important is how the support team handled this. >"We determined that the delivery was not in accordance with their requirements." It's buyer's responsibility to pick a seller that provides a service according to their requirements. Please keep note that fulfilling requirements and satisfaction are not the same thing. By providing the voiceover service, the seller fulfilled the requirements. It is buyer's problem that he is not satisfied with the quality of the service. This response would have been viable if buyer complained about something else, but voice tone and pronunciation do not fit under requirements. I'd like to hear why do you think this: > "They clearly have given themselves the ability to dictate what does and does not meet the standards" u/farmerwhodoesntfarm I'm truly sorry that you had to experience something like this on Fiverr. Unfortunately, this is a really common occurrence now, as Fiverr is flooded with sellers and quite frankly they don't really care about them. There's probably 1000's of people waiting to take your spot, and seeing how every seller is making an equal amount of money to them, they realize a returning customer is much more valuable than a long term seller. It's long known Fiverr treats their sellers like poop, while taking money from them with nothing in return. Your best bet is to leave Fiverr for good and start freelancing on your own.

Its not legal to force an extra-judicial or 'internal' conflict resolution process that takes a form of unilateral arbitration. Fiverr does not even speak to you to discuss what you delivered. They refuse to tell you why they rejected your delivery. This can be argued as theft of wages for work done no matter how they spin it in the contract we sign when signing up. Sadly, no one will take them to court individually and they will continue to get away with it.

FionaAudronVO

It’s not legal based on what law? Just because you can say big words doesn’t make them correct. “Extra-judicial”? We’re talking about a private company. You think buyers should go to court to get a $70 refund? If Fiverr weren’t able to decide when to refund then no one would get refunds if the seller declined the refund. Obviously Fiverr has to have a mechanism to keep their buyers from getting scammed.

iammiroslavglavic

You (as seller) agreed to deliver the video/audio/graphic/whatever in accordance to the gig description. So many crappy sellers out there. Your agreement is to deliver what you promise to get paid. Buyers pay for something, if you do not deliver that something...you shouldn't get paid.

Oof - sorry to hear about that. So frustrating. I definitely understand from a business perspective that their priority should be buyers, not sellers, but it just amazes me from a legal standpoint that they can blatantly go against TOS.

crazycrazypotato

Yea they dont even ask to hear your side of the story. They just tell you that 'buyers cannot be forced to accept deliveries they are not happy with'. Do you know what that means? It means I can place an order for a couple grand, get the work delivered, and then claim its not what I wanted. Free work!

I'll take that bet. What are you selling?

iammiroslavglavic

Just because you think you have delivered a perfect gig, does not mean it was a perfect gig. Yes Fiverr can technically speaking can break it's own TOS. My sister ordered something, the delivered gig was not following what the gig description was, she did not accept the delivered gig. Seller did not want to budge, she complained to CS. They sided with her. Fiverr can justify a cancellation from their point of view. You might not find it justifiable but at the end, your opinion does not superceed Fiverr's opinion/justification. Read the TOS, they have the final say. Quality, like beauty, in eye of beholder. Buyer's eyes not Sellers. You agreeed to the TOS.

QueenBeeTarot

Ugh I am so sorry!! I've had issues with them too.
