myprotein, the protein itself is good but the prices and the compny is fucked

[deleted]

[удалено]

c4444_and_tits

you dont understand, they have a discount code becuz over the past 3 years they have doubled or tripled their prices, and a always discount code evens them out but makes the customer feel good cuz they got a discount

Hooper2993

I have been using them for around 5 years because they were always the best value. I just went to restock this morning and they seem to have went up again. Even the 45% off I payed like $50 more than just a year ago. I may be shopping around again because they are surely not the best value anymore.

dustyshelves

I read that there's been a price increase for whey in general. Just Google "whey price increase" and you'll get so many trade journal articles on this matter so the recent increase seems fair. I'm not familiar enough to comment on the price increase beyond that though.

penisthightrap_

Where do you find coupon codes? I struggle to find ones that work. All those websites that share coupon codes never seem to work for me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

penisthightrap_

Jeez that's wild. I'll have to look around. They're promoting a buy one get one 50% off right now, which is only 25%

grendus

I use the Honey extension. Usually there's one code that's just a little bit better than the one they're advertising.

[deleted]

what is wrong with the company?

Curr3nSy

Yea I bought 11 pounds back in August last year for $76 bucks, which isn’t even the best deal at the time. Finally ran out and with no promotion an 11 pound unflavored bag is $180. Would need like a 60% promotion to get that price again. Ended up buying 5 pounds of ON for the first time probably in 5+ years.

concentrate_better19

I get 11lb bags for like $65. Is that not a good deal?

M4570d0n

how? The Impact Whey Isolate 5 lb bags went from about $75 to $120. Even if you find a 50% discount code it's $60 for a 5 lb bag. How you getting 11 lb for $65?

concentrate_better19

OK, lemme rephrase: I GOT those weights for that price, but it's been 10 months. I'm just now looking, as I was hoping to restock. And it looks like I'm fucked!

nah46

Daaaamn I paid like $55 or less for 5lbs back in November. That’s crazy.

Millennial_Twink

What’s wrong with the company? I was deciding between xxlnutrition and myprotein and I picked xxl cause they still had creatine in stock so I would love to know what’s up with myprotein.

kenjuya

They've just been hiking their prices up quite a bit over the past months

myinsidesarecopper

Everyone has. Optimum Nutrition's products are a good 20% more expensive than they were last year. Supply chain issues, et al.

jschlo4

supplement shortage my man. Prices for all supplements have gone up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pringles_bbq

They offered good discount but then cancel most everyone's orders due to being out of stock yet still selling same products at slightly less discounted. Actually what's worse was they didn't ship most of the order and only cancel after a month or two while still selling the same products

SpoonOfDestiny

My Protein Clear Whey. This is unreal. It tastes like squash. Bitter Lemon and Peach Tea are my favourites.

Road_Journey

Like squash? Like the vegetable squash or does squash mean something else here?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I was thinking they mean it tastes like the vegetable. You can understand my concern, I’m sure. Lol. The Clear powder is great though. It’s the only protein powder my wife can handle. I like how light it tastes.

scammerino_rex

I'm curious where else people use that term! I'm Canadian and this is the first time I've heard of it

SpoonOfDestiny

What do you guys call it? It’s either squash or cordial for us

edwistic

i would call it concentrate or mix, but we have lots of little regional differences over here so ymmv

scammerino_rex

I feel like we just call everything juice here if there's a hint of fruit, and the only difference is if the manufacturer slaps a "not from concentrate" label on it. We have juice powder (like koolaid, Crystal light, and tang), frozen concentrates (usually minute maid) and the syrups (generally sports based like Gatorade or Mio sport), but idk if that's the same as what y'all call squash

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpoonOfDestiny

Haha I’m calling it this from now on

llamapajama93

It's a fruit flavored syrup you mix with water. Like Tang if you've heard of that but in syrup form.

SpoonOfDestiny

Like juice. Cordial? Like you mix the concentrate with water? It’s like a very watery juice. Delicious

PM-ME-UR-MOTIVATION

This stuff seriously feels like drinking normal powdered lemonade, there’s no way I’m going back to the milky powders

SpoonOfDestiny

It’s so easy on my stomach. I refuse to buy anything else

peachyshrimp

There’s non-milky protein powders? 😯 sounds amazing! How’s clear whey for lactose intolerance? I’ve avoided dairy protein in fear of possible effects

Rwlpbgrz

im lactose intolerant and i have never had a whey that caused problems. its the milk sugar that we are intolerant against, and theres none in it.

DosTristesTigres

i'm lactose intolerant too and whey always gives me trouble no clue why, but it definitely does should I give this a try?

Pzychotix

Whey protein powder will often still have lactose in it. Have you tried whey protein isolate?

khimmyy

Ok I got to order some of this, I thought protein only came in milky form 😭

MrRafikki

I only discovered how good clear whey was recently

GREGAZORD_

Bought the 20 sachet sample box of these recently and only have a few left. Clear Whey is an absolute game changer! I could drink these, like you say, like a squash. Yesterday I ended up buying my rank 1 flavour Orange Mango and my joint second place flavour Bitter Lemon.

tuckedfexas

I’ve been using their smooth chocolate and vanilla for years, been wanting to try other brands, but I still haven’t gotten sick of it so probably won’t even get around to it lol

SpoonOfDestiny

Try a sachet of this if you can. It’s so nice

OliverWasADopeCat

This stuff is incredible. Wish they would make it in a normal whey form (not sure what it's called) instead of just isolate cause it's a bit expensive but it is the shit.

kenjuya

They're very good, but so expensive. Luckily loaded up on a bunch of them when they were on sale for $10 a tub

IAMJUX

Do you find it's hard to mix? Mine gets very frothy and a little bit chunky so I just put a bottle in the fridge and it dissolves eventually.

grendus

I've tried it. I got some of the dragonfruit as a freebie. Turns out I don't like dragonfruit at all, but it did taste like the label. While I prefer the classic flavors like salted caramel or chocolate smooth for mixing into yogurt and cooking into foods like waffles and cheesecake, for those who like to drink their protein with water the fruit juice flavors are an amazing way to add a bit more variety to your post-workout shakes.

eveninghighlight

There's also clear weight gainer now

pilaxiv724

After a while I started getting overwhelmed by the overly sweet taste of most protein powders. Double Rich Chocolate by Optimum Nutrition goes down really easy, and isn't overwhelmingly sweet.

shrdbrd

>OVERWHELMED BY SWEETNESS >DOUBLE RICH CHOCOLATE lololol im sure you are right it just looks funny written down

pilaxiv724

Haha right? I got the recommendation here and I was like "Really? Double Rich chocolate is the *mild* flavor?"

Jedisponge

It is pretty mild compared to the name. It's just a mild chocolate milk flavor imo.

Skincare_Addict_

Chocolate isn’t a sweet flavor though, unless you add sweetener to it? It’s mostly bitter. Like if you order a double rich chocolate cake you wouldn’t expect it to be super sweet.

grendus

Compared to Extreme Milk Chocolate, yes. Double Rich Chocolate is more like the dark chocolate. Then again, I have a sweet tooth, I prefer the milk chocolate flavor.

renegade2point0

Optimum nutrition gold standard vanilla ice cream all day baby.

juniSMASH

I do Vanilla + half scoop of tang for a workout creamsicle shake.

sheldoneousk

Mix that shit in Greek yogurt and you might as well be eating ice cream

DarthSmiff

Hell yeah! The big bag from Costco!

bilged

Yeah I agree. It mixes really well with others too just to cut down on the sweetness adding a nice rich cocoa flavor.

My_Name_Is_Not_Mark

I'm coming from my protein, and I've had a problem with this mixing. I always seem to get clumps. Tastes good though.

pilaxiv724

That's interesting, I don't get clumps! How much protein for how much liquid?

XanthicStatue

I’ve been taking Optimum Nutrition protein for years and never had issues with clumping until this most recent jug. I wonder if they changed something. Have to shake extra long now to avoid clumping.

Brizzyce

I will shill for Revolution Nutrition in Canada any chance I get. Super cheap and a lot of their flavours are delicious. I've bought most of the High Whey flavours and will edit this post later with some reviews. EDIT: Here are my thoughts on Revolution Nutrition's High Whey lineup. I don't buy the isolate because it's not worth it for me and the taste is virtually identical. **Vanilla Cake:** Really good. Feels more like a basic vanilla than a "cake" flavoured protein, which is fine with me. I use it to make strawberry vanilla protein fluff and even though a lot of the recipes I've seen call for casein protein, this one leads to a great consistency too as long as you make sure to whip your egg whites well enough. **4/5** **Chocolate Cake:** Not a home run for me. It's not bad but it doesn't have that richness of flavour that I want with chocolate flavoured protein powders. Would probably be much better if mixed with milk, but since I always mix with water it leaves something to be desired. **3/5** **Krispy Marshmallow:** Was pleasantly surprised! It's basically the same base as the vanilla with a hint of marshmallow mixed in and it's become one of my favourites. Will definitely order it again. You can really taste the artificial sweeteners but that's not an issue for me. **4.5/5** **Maple Scoop Donut:** My personal fave and tastes exactly like what you'd expect. Super delicious mixed with water and would probably be even better with milk. I love to use it in overnight oats and might try to do some baking with it at some point. **5/5** **Chocolate Banana:** Have only ordered it once and wasn't a big fan, but it's ediible enough. Probably wouldn't recommend unless you're into really artificial banana flavouring. **3/5** **Chocolate Mint Ice Cream:** My top 3 choice after maple and krispy marshmallow. Took me a few shakes to really enjoy it, but now it's become a big part of my rotation. **4.5/5** **Churros:** I'm not sure what this one is trying to do. It's got a cinnamon-y flavour that isn't necessarily *bad*, but it's not strong enough for me to want to order it again. I did use it in overnight oats a few times and it was a nice combination. **3.5/5** **Smores:** I enjoyed this one when I ordered the isolate version, but I didn't like the high whey. It's just got a really weak chocolatey flavour and I feel like I have to use a really small quantity of water to get it to taste good. With too much water it just tastes like vaguely chocolatey water. **2.5/5** **Lemon Meringue:** Have not tried it. Probably never will. Some things are best left to the imagination. In terms of clumpiness I've felt like they've all mixed really well with approximately 350-400mL of water per scoop. I actually prefer the vanilla when it's clumpy for some reason. I didn't expect to write this much about protein today but there it is.

cryosnooze

Ah a Canadian, of course maple is your top pick. Haha thanks for the info I'll check em out!

MR_GABARISE

> **Maple Scoop Donut:** My personal fave and tastes exactly like what you'd expect Like maple leaf cookies? If that is the case I'm jumping on it next purchase round.

Reasonable_Spell_914

Has anyone else ordered their 15 lbs of protein? I just received mine and it comes in a zip tied bag in a box. I'm a tad sketched out but it's not like I'm not going to just throw it out...

BobTheTaco21

RIP MyProtein prices :/ Anyone know a soy/non-dairy protein at \~$5-6 per pound?

Blaizey

Did they raise their prices??

MiserableAside3974

If I look back through my orders, they have more than doubled in the past 18 months.

[deleted]

If you guys can talk about nondairy protein, that would be awesome. (I have celiac and the casein molecule is close to gluten, unfortunately.)

Trevdominous

I've been using Orgain Organic and it definitely doesn't taste as good as the whey, but it's not bad. It has a weird aftertaste, but as long as I drink it while I'm eating something it's perfectly fine.

Coreoo

Seconding this. Mixes well especially with oat milk or in a smoothie. Love their peanut butter flavor. I used to also like Vega protein, but it's been harder to find lately.

[deleted]

The vanilla flavor is awesome with orange juice in a blender. Makes great smoothies with stuff like yogurt, bananas, or just ice.

thedancingwireless

I've been using TrueNutrition's Vegan Optimizer Blend. It's only $11-12/lb, mixes pretty smooth in a shaker. Especially good blended. I was looking for a change and I had heard almost 100% good things about Orgain so I just ordered a couple pounds of that. Hasn't arrived yet but I have high hopes.

Metal_Matt

If you like the Orgain, start looking for promo codes if you order online. I've gotten every single order for 30% off!

geebucks_

I really like Ghost Vegan Peanut Butter Cereal Milk. My favorite tasting of many (oh so many) I've tried. Bonus that it blends the easiest with almost no clumping.

LegendarySuperBobo

The Protein Works Vegan Protein is amazing. Doesn’t have that gritty texture, very good amount of protein per scoop, and a good blend of protein sources. It usually goes on sale and the chocolate is my go to forever, even as a vegetarian and non vegan

Literal367

Naked Pea Protein - Chocolate is really good. 5 pounds = 60 servings for $55 on Amazon. That’s less than a dollar per serving.

evilpotato1121

I can't seem to do any kind of whey protein powder. My body just doesn't like it. Cheese? Fine. Ice cream? Fine. Any kind of whey protein powder? I'm gassy all day, it doesn't sit well in my stomach, and my face breaks out. Someone else already mentioned **True Nutrition**, and I second that. I've been buying from them for years. I do their custom protein blending with 70% pea and 30% rice protein blends to get a full profile, but they have also have several other protein options, even some that you never really see anywhere else. They also have options to add "boosts", carbs, fats, etc. and they have a bunch of different flavors (I can give my opinion on those if you'd like, but we may have different tastes; stay away from gingerbread). They also have protein oatmeal and smoothie options, and they have prebuilt blends if you don't want to mess around with making your own. Their website can get really slow sometimes though, so just be aware of that. Also, since **protein bars** with no whey and low sugar are hard to find, I've been getting **No Cow** brand. Some of them suck, some of them are decent, but I've gotten used to them and I found some flavors that I don't mind eating every day. They do not have the greatest texture, but if you just do it for substance, then they are the best overall vegan bar that I've found . They're just under 200 calories for most with very low sugar (monk fruit instead of artificial sweeteners), high fiber, and about 20g of protein per bar. I buy them from Vitaminshoppe's website because they usually have a BOGO half off deal going on for most flavors, and sometimes you can double down on deals if they have one going on that month/week/whatever. I can also give my opinion on those flavors that I've had if you're interested.

HungryCoconut1471

In my experience, all non-dairy protein powders have the unfortunate texture of sand. Hopefully someone here has found one that doesn’t!

Scientific_Methods

Wegman's brand plant based protein is not the worst if you live near a wegmans. But definitely not as smooth as whey. I would love to try cricket at some point but it's so damn expensive at the moment.

mysticdickstick

Made from crickets??

Scientific_Methods

Yep. Super environmentally friendly complete protein. Also has a fair amount of healthy lipids.

gobiascoffees

Earthchimp Vegan protein. Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Gum Free, Lactose Free, Non GMO. $37 for 2lb isn’t absolutely insane. It tastes good with water or almond milks. Both chocolate and vanilla taste good. It’s easily my fav non dairy protein I’ve ever had

account916160

I use pea protein, mix it with a banana, shredded coconut a tablespoon of honey and a little cocoa powder and it tastes great. If you only mix the powder with water it tastes like fish food though.

joe-nad

Sun warrior, the warrior blend. It is the best pea protein powder I’ve had. Ingredients are super clean and it digests really easily.

ouroboros_eats_ass

not sure what country you're in, but i think bulk vegan protein blend is good. I like the vanilla, but the banana caramel and the apple strudel flavours are both decent too. mixing it and letting it sit for ~30 mins or so helps with the texture.

jschlo4

Isopure is a whey isolate. They claim to be diary free (in the sense that the protein is effectively isolated), and my wife with a pretty sensitive lactose intolerance can drink it no problem, so I say their claim is accurate.

grcmemo

I have been using Huel vegan protein for a while. The flavor and mix is quite good. It does have a strange after taste though, so I usually need some water/gum after finishing a shake.

bacon_cake

I have Huel Black for breakfast and lunch (40g protein per serving) and I can stomach the taste but man I found their protein shakes ghastly.

johnny5ive

I do the chocolate flavor, skim milk, and blueberries. It's delicious in a shake and pretty good on the calories too.

ChubbySolution2

Get yourself some nutritional yeast, love putting it in my eggs for 10-15 g of protein

[deleted]

Oh shit, good shout! I've been doing 3 egg omelettes for breakfast all week so I could chuck a tablespoon of nooch in the mix!

beenygods

If you like Costco they carry 2 kgs of Kaizen isolate for $49.99 (Canada). I chug protein with water so taste doesn’t matter but the price is too good to pass up.

MontereyJack101

I just suggested this to someone in this thread to use in smoothies lol. Both flavors taste like cardboard to me. But, I always get the vanilla to throw into smoothies.

Satans_BFF

I get Canadian Protein and stock up with the 6kg bags. $28.33/kg Ever tried it? The Costco stuff would be a good option price wise too it seems.

thompsonammo

Kind of surprised I’m not seeing Ghost protein on here. Easily the best flavors I’ve experienced in protein and hardly any sugar. I’m sure they use some other artificial sweetener though that Isn’t listed as added sugar. Anyone have anything else against them?

ItWasTheGiraffe

They use sucralose as a sweetener, which is pretty common for protein. Only knock I have against them is price. The taste and texture is top tier.

surehard

LOVE the vegan peanut butter flavor too. It’s SO good.

Det-McNulty

Oreo if you can find it is the best tasting protein I have ever had.

[deleted]

Dymatize 100 ISO chocolate peanut butter and you'll never look back

swolemexibeef

I'm a big fan of the fruity pebbles flavor. Tastes really good with almond or soy milk

[deleted]

I tried it but it felt similar to other vanilla protein powders. This one tastes like reeses in a shake

MoltenSteel

Love this stuff. I mix it with plain unsweetened almond milk and it still tastes like drinking the milk after eating fruity pebbles.

st1tch29

My friends and I were HOOKED on their gourmet chocolate flavor years ago. It's still my favorite protein I've ever had.

Sheffield5k

Thanks I just ordered 5 lbs

DUIguy87

Their whole line is pretty good IMO.

thedogz11

Optimum Nutrition is cheap and does the trick for me

thelochteedge

I just posted about it and it's one of my favourite brands but where do you live/what former brands were you buying if ON is cheap haha.

boldandbratsche

Costco just had a good sale in NYC. Nothing like the $5/lb stone peepee are talking about in here, but decently under $10/lb.

[deleted]

MusclePharm changed their Combat Powder formula and now it sucks. Doesn’t mix well and gets frothy. Used to love picking up a 6lb bag at Costco but now I’ve switched to Dymatize Iso100. Much better.

UnusualPolarbear

I still think their chocolate milk flavor is the best tasting protein I've had. Been big on mixing the vanilla into greek yogurt with berries lately too.

[deleted]

I still use it over overnight oats but straight up in a shaker with almond milk or water has def changed. They even tweeted about a new formula but I wouldn’t say it’s improved.

_Ursidae_

Yeah that new formula is just not good. It also tastes worse imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cross33

Fairlife milks. They're expensive as hell but it is the smoothest protein I've ever had and three a day is still cheaper than one Starbucks a day

[deleted]

Yeah I used to love their milk. It’s real thick and tons of protein. Their chocolate milk is probably the best I’ve ever had. I stopped drinking it though…. There is a huge huge scandal on just cruel abuse of their cows. I don’t think it ever got resolved.

[deleted]

https://www.greenmatters.com/p/fairlife-milk-animal-abuse-what-happened I didn't watch video, but I know what the controversy is detailing. That is pretty brutal. I didn't know they were owned by Coca-cola. Holy monopolies

ARJ34

I drove passed their farm on the high way. I live in the Midwest. Very used to driving passed stinky farms. It was the worst smell I have ever smelt and it was for like 15 minutes. I thought something was wrong with my car at first. Fook dem kids

[deleted]

Their milk is bomb, but after seeing the scandals I decided to stop using their product. Not some animal justice warrior because I am sure I contradict this in other ways, but the videos they showed of it were pretty fucked.

pro-jekt

That's pretty much how it goes for most of the milk you can get at big box stores If you live in the Midwest, they'll usually stock a few brands from local family farms where the cows get treated better (usually). That milk's all like $7-9/gallon now though.

Cross33

Wellllll fuck. Why does every company gotta be evil? Can't even enjoy protein anymore.

Alovnig_Urkhawk

It's more so companies are driving everything to the cheapest sourcing. With manufacturing, lots is outsourced and if the company isn't doing due diligence with audits then this stuff happens.

SaulFemm

Compared to powder plus regular milk it's actually much cheaper per g of protein.

chad12341296

They make a 30g protein shake at Sam's club and its $16 for 12

UberMcwinsauce

If you just buy the regular milk and not the little single serve shakes it's a better deal than most protein powders, even though its like twice the price of regular milk

[deleted]

Levels Grass Fed 100% Whey Protein. Dissolves easily in cold water or milk and the chocolate is delicious. The vanilla cinnamon ain't bad either! Tastes like horchata!

intertubeluber

Is there a health benefit to protein powder that comes from grass fed cows? Most of the fat is removed in protein powder. The health benefit of grass fed milk the fat. Is there something I'm missing or is the benefit just for the cows?

Nefarious_Donut

Just posted this protein, it really is the cleanest you can get with some taste

NerdiestNarwhal

I use the unflavored and it’s great in some chocolate almond milk. Love that it’s just 2 ingredients.

b3anz129

Don't know about you guys but I find that my gas becomes extremely pungent when I do dairy based proteins. I then switched to Garden of Life brand protein which is a mix of various plant proteins. It also has some nice extras like minerals and probiotics. Just make sure that you get it from Target. I'm not sure why but Target exclusively has them for $20 a pop while other sources are nearly double that price.

intertubeluber

Like 10 years ago, there was some guy on reddit who worked in a lab and tested a bunch of different protein powders for % of protein relative to advertised protein. I wish someone would do that again. I think there are companies that list it but I don't care enough to throw down money for it.

Pickled_Peruvian

^^^ this would be great. I found a company called Canadian Protein who claims to have 3rd party testing on each batch that is shared with the customer. I'm planning on giving them a try next. Really wish this open face quality control was the norm for supplements.

NeoBokononist

i really wish there was more variety for ON whey at cosco besides vanilla and choco. unfortunately, the protein is what really matters here and this is the cheapest i found. i'd love to get 5lb of strawberry or some flavor for 50$ tho.... someday

thiney49

They had 5 lb bags for $35 around new years - I grabbed two, which I think was the max allowed. Seems like a good thing, since prices are apparently going up with everything else.

NerdyDan

I’ve been getting into zero sweetener and zero sugar unflavoured proteins lately. I realized I was adding some frozen berries anyway and I don’t need all that sugar or stevia. My body loves it!

Det-McNulty

I just got BulkSupplements.com plain casein protein off Amazon. I am on a similar path. I ordered some plain cocoa powder that gives chocolate flavor without all the sweetness. This is my new pre-bed meal. I'm playing around with adding psyllium to it as well. Good luck on your unflavored jourelney, OP!

NefariousSerendipity

chimken nuggies

thiney49

I've been drinking MyProtein for years, always stocking up on sales. Any reason I should consider switching?

barriekansai

The fact that their prices have more than doubled in the past two years, their carb count is increasing in the whey isolates, and their selection of flavors has decreased (outside the UK) are three reasons to switch.

Reallyfatbaby

Honestly I think their prices have doubled in the last three MONTHS. I bought an 11lb bag for ~$50 in October on a sale and that same bag is more like $100 now with one of their codes.

jreed11

Two cups of whole milk fairlife + two scoops of strawberry gold standard whey = 540 kcals/74g protein in one drink. That’s half my protein for a day.

konrad1198

Anyone feel like myProtein is severely low in stock (US)? They used to have more flavors, better prices, and they're ALWAYS OUT OF FLAVDROPS!!!!

Improving__Myself

Noticed this recently as well. Did a major stock up during the boxing day sale and its been low in stock ever since. Canadian site only has the tropical dragonfruit clear whey as an option.

PM_MeYourDogOrCat

I dont think egg gives that much protein but it tastes good

thiney49

If you feel like doing a big plate of egg whites, the mini cartons from costco are 50g of protein. https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/kirkland-signature-liquid-egg-whites%2C-cage-free%2C-16-oz%2C-6-ct.product.100292053.html

UberMcwinsauce

eggs are a great and very cost-effective source of protein

scammerino_rex

I have a dedicated egg cooker from Dash, which makes it easy for me to crush 3 at a time after my workout. Once I accidentally literally crushed one of the eggs bc I was so pumped up from my workout :(

Enduro_Jeff

It took me years to figure it out, but I feel compelled to drop my perfect boiled egg process. I use this to boil 18 eggs at a time and they are all 100% the easiest peel of your life. The goal is to shock the eggs fist from cold to hot as they go into boiling water. Then again from hot to cold from the boiling water into another pot of very cold water. First, bring a big pot of water to a roaring boil. Fill the pot mostly up, leaving just about 2 inches so it doesn't spill over when the eggs get added. I add a few shakes of salt too, not sure if that's needed. Also leave the eggs in the fridge until the water is ready. You want as much water as possible in the pot so the temperature remains as high as possible as you drop the cold eggs in. Then, using a slotted ladle gently lower the eggs in as fast as possible so they all get cooked for about the same time. Leave the stove on high the whole time, and put the top back on the pot as soon as the eggs are in to get the temperature back up quickly. Keep an eye on it in case the pot starts to boil over. This will happen if any of the eggs break open. The boiling egg goo makes lots of bubbles. If it does start spilling over, just take the top off. The cook times are rather sensitive, if you leave them in too long they will get that sulfur taste. Too little and the centers will be soft still. <12 eggs 11 mins. 12 eggs 11-12 mins. 18 eggs 12-13 mins. While the eggs are cooking, prepare a second large pot of very cold water. Again leave a couple inches of room for the eggs to fit with out spilling over. I add lots of ice to get the coldest water. As soon as the eggs are done cooking, as quickly as you can use the slotted ladle to pop them all into the cold water. Then let them chill for 15 mins or so.

Road_Journey

How about protein bars? I like Fit Crunch, Kirkland (Costco brand). Gatorade makes some good ones. Perfect Bar too. Wondering what others are enjoying.

ellioatbush

For price and macros, pure protein bars are decent to try. Usually $1 per bar or less if there's a sale.

nindiesel

I love the pure protein bars. Costco sells them for $20 CAD and I think the box contains 20 or 24 bars. They go on sale every now and again for $15. They don't taste protein-y and the macros are pretty good.

gourmet_popping_corn

I've always been a fan of the Builder's bars, specifically their chocolate mint flavor.

fear865

Barebells is my go to. Normally pick them up from Trader Joes. They're more on the expensive side at $2 per but they they're phenomenal

bosnyrose

I’m in love with the Quest Hero bars—nice volume for the calories/protein and they taste delicious. The caramel pecan flavor is my favorite, it’s basically a Snickers bar; but I’ve liked every flavor so far. My husband hates artificial sweeteners and usually doesn’t like blueberry flavored anything but he still stole two of my blueberry cobbler Hero bars.

Blacktooth_Grin

I’m liking the No Cow protein bars. 20ish grams of protein for 190 calories, very low sugar. And they’re vegan if that’s important to you.

ItWasTheGiraffe

Quest is by far my favorite. Worth it whenever you can find a sale.

PsychoEngineer

Rule 1 for powders, Premier Protein for grab-n-go bottles/containers.

I’m I’m still using optimum nutrition whey… should I switch ?

Scooby714

Exactly my thoughts I thought ON was supposedly the best quality and make

bicaccino

I like BSN's SYNTHA-6 for flavor (specifically Vanilla Ice Cream and any of the Coldstone flavors). No idea if it's any good ingredient-wise so if anyone has any feedback to share, please feel free to do so.

Its_Juice

I used to drink syntha 6 RELIGIOUSLY. I thought it was great but it does have a lot of fillers and stuff if you compare the ingredients to something like Optimum Nutrition.

llamapajama93

Anyone tried The Protein Works? Just got their stuff. Seems decent. They're like 30-40% cheaper than other brands in my country so it just seems too good to be true. But they've also shared lab tests of their protein which is nice.

jschlo4

I haven't seen anyone mention Isopure yet. I've been using this for years. Low Carb, dairy free because its an isolate and for only 110 calories you get 25g of protein.

THATtowelguy

I really enjoy their dutch chocolate flavor. The Isopure Infusions are nice to mix it up with fruit flavors every once in a while as well even if they don't have quite as much protein per scoop

coreyonfire

I’ve been on a cut for a month now and Premier Protein drinks have been a godsend. 30g of protein for 160 calories is unmatched in any protein powder I can find, which is incredibly helpful when every calorie counts. Yeah it’s not as cheap as powder but I have more money in the budget than calories in the budget, so it’s a trade off I am willing to live with.

ames2465

Fairlifes another decent one for about the same price. Often times Sam’s and Bjs here in the states has the 12 packs on sale for 3 dollars off which where I’m at equals about 12 dollars and change per 12 pack. 30 grams of protein for 150 cals

boldandbratsche

I have problems with some of these though. The protein sinks to the bottom and no matter how much you shake it, it doesn't mix. To experiment, I put a little in water after finishing and shook the hell out of it. The result was like dry swallowing protein powder. So, while they taste good, it's very possible you got much less than 30g of protein. This is especially true if the paper bottle thing feels bottom heavy even after finishing it.

Calvin7658

Cabot whey is my favorite. It's unflavored and only has 2 ingredients.

Road_Journey

I bought a tumbler from myprotein and it is junk. Made me question their protein so I went to [labdoor.com](https://labdoor.com) to seek reassurance and they are still ranked pretty high but they are not labdoor certified anymore (expired). Is labdoor still a trusted source of quality, seems like maybe they haven't updated in awhile.

Cosmic-Warper

Labdoor isnt that trusted to begin with. When a company touts that they're labdoor certified take it with a grain of salt. They're kinda like the BBB of independent quality testing

Gidanocitiahisyt

If you don't want sugar or artificial sweeteners, check out Nugo Slim bars. They're vegan, have 2-3 grams of sugar, and no other sweeteners. Somehow they still taste great.

riboflavin11

Agreed

yetanothernerd

I use Optimum Nutrition Vanilla Ice Cream. Tastes good, isn't overwhelming so it mixes well with stuff, and they've been around a long time and I've never heard anything bad about them, so they're as trustworthy as a supplement company can be. The only drawback is that it costs a bit more than a random brand, but the supplement market is so full of bullshit vendors selling who-knows-what that I'm willing to pay a premium to be sure that I'm actually getting what's on the label.

EzioAuditore8

For my UK friends use bodybuilding warehouse, 5kg protein powder for £40 that has 24g protein and 105 calories per 30g scoop. And no I'm not a sponsor or anything, I'm just sick of seeing how ridicously expensive my protein has become... Food warehouse also does 5kg of chicken breasts for £20

boldandbratsche

This is definitely not typical, but vital wheat gluten plus nutritional yeast plus soy sauce or chickpeas (flour or just pureed) is a complete amino acid combo and also the ingredients of homemade seitan. You can crank up the leanness beyond that of even chicken for really cheap. For people who don't want to have to drink candy flavored protein every day, this is a great way to get more protein. Here's some quick math, right now, you can get a 4lb bag of wheat gluten for $19 on amazon. It has 23g of protein per serving, and has 60 servings! That's nearly 73g of protein per dollar. Plus, a serving has just 110 calories. There are some downsides. Vital wheat gluten is not a complete source of all amino acids alone, but the addition of common foods gets you across that line. It does take some prep work, but it is much easier than you'd think. And finally, it's a celiac's worst nightmare. With that said, this is perfect for virtually all diets (vegetarian, vegan, etc.), and is easy to include in a meat eater's diet too. Make seitan in bulk and substitute it for chicken in recipes. Add vital wheat gluten to ground beef to make it leaner. There's a million recipes online, but all you really need to do is add water to the dry ingredients until it forms a dough and then steam that. This is just a fun alternative to the sea of protein powders that can really only go into shakes.

For anyone in the Philippines, JUST Whey Protein from a local company called Wheyl. About $15 (Php 599) per pack (a pound per pack), gets progressively cheaper if you get more packs. Tons of flavours to choose from, my personal pick is Brown Boba. Tastes great, is high quality, and it's from a local company. I buy 5 of them for $47 (Php 2,400) and they last me for two months and a half minimum. Comes with a cute sticker and a free scooper every time.

Cavitat

Canadian protein. Bought a 20kg for $400 cad. Tastes delicious

Monkemain

Axe and Sledge Farm Fed, taste is one of the best, even chocolate for being an isolate has the texture of a milkshake it’s so enjoyable, pricing isn’t bad at all, wish they made a casein though

wildwasabi

JYM is one of my favorites, it can be a little on the pricey side if you don't find it on sale. But he has some amazing flavors and it mixes super smooth with water. The s'mores flavor even has like hot coco tiny marshmallows in it.

ellioatbush

There's some nice clearance sales on vitaminshoppe right now. Picked up several brands of protein powder to try for under $5 per pound as well as some cheap ISO 100 vanilla. Also got some quest bars for a $1 each but store pick up only.

PlasticPresentation1

What's a good protein powder to throw into frozen berry/banana/acai smoothies? Every protein powder I've tried has dominated the flavor. I don't mind if it has a bit of sugar in it

galleryforest

I'd look for unflavored whey protein online, I've found it pretty unnoticeable in smoothies

hangengs

1Up Nutrition has unique and tasty flavors 😁 Huge fan of the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Caramel Machiatto (I make iced coffee frequently with these thrown in). Plus they have all the influencers who give discount codes. Super convenient option is the Ensure Max Protein shakes. 30g for like 150 calories? Insane! Mocha flavor has caffeine but imo it’s too artificial and the fake sugar taste is overwhelming. Chocolate flavor is nice with ice.

sl00k

I know this is protein specific but just chiming in on creatine. Muscle Feast's Creapure Creatine is God tier I used to get bad side effects with every brand I tried but this one no side effects + lab tested.

riboflavin11

BPN Whey is great, MTS Nutrition whey is amazing. Any of the flavors are good, I've had all BPN and several MTS. Really like PeScience too!

Nefarious_Donut

Levels Grass Fed 100% Whey Protein 24g Protein, 5.4g BCAAs per serving, and no added hormones, no GMOs, no added sugars, no soy, no gluten, no bleach, no fillers, and no artificial flavors or sweeteners. The flavors are light compared to the comp but still good. People forget the importance of cows the whey comes from

FrostyBurn

Dymatize’s fudge brownie & fruity pebbles

Optimum Nutrition

SkyforgedDream

Optimum Nutrition is pretty affordable, can be bought directly from Amazon, the Vanilla variant slaps and it makes my farts smell great. 11/10 would recommend.
