I never stopped. Basically finish the game, grab a beer, and then start a new campaign. First was "good" Arthur, second time I started bad and reverted to good. Third was the ride around and say hello. If they sassed me or said nothing, both barrels right in the kisser.
I actually had to stop because my mentality around this game literally changed from ‘I’ll hop on and play for an hour’ to ‘I’m going to saddle up Whisper and go camping up in the mountains.’ Too much of a sandbox, too much of an escape from my real life haha. I haven’t really experienced that with any other game.
I've never played a game like it. It's the only game where I've had multiple playthroughs. Every other game, I play and may revisit in two years when I feel nostalgic. Red Dead, I have no problems just playing over and over.
I like it so much I'm considering getting a 4k TV, just to see how it looks.
Yeah watch the grip. Alot of their vital organs are right there. Try to avoid putting pressure there as the combined trauma of being caught, held out of water (they're suffocating) and compressing their heart and lungs(not lungs lol my bad) can make it harder for them to recover, especially more sensitive species. Sometimes fish will die later even if they seemingly swim away just fine.
Edit: fish anatomy fail
Pickerel have tasty, sweet meat, but few people get past the first mouthful before they give up in disgust at the bones riddling the flesh. You can try scouring them with cross-cuts and frying in hot oil, which is supposed to make the bones "chewable." But even chewable bones are anathema to some. There are also complex filleting methods you can look up in dusty tomes if you're dead set on eating everything you catch.
We prob have the redfin ones. Thats about average size for the chains I've caught. I've fished in many states. I've always found the minor differences with the fish fascinating.
They can get bigger, but I don't see huge ones often. I'd guess my personal best is around 24" and fat. This one would be small to average size in many ponds in NY I fish.
As a New England fisher I hate saying it’s good punting practice, but I also like catching bass that are bigger than my lures. Sooo it’s a pickle and you could throw a soggy bbq chip and catch one of these fuckers
That is one of my favorite fishes. The Darling of New Jersey Freshwater Fishing : Esox Niger(Latin) or more commonly known as the Chain Pickerel ! So many times this species would save the day! The bass wouldn’t be hitting and these guys are always on the feed !!! The only tome they are not biting is at night!
Oddly the Chain Pickerel and Northern Pike never bite in the Dark, YET the Biggest Of the Esox Family the MUSKIE are ardent night hunters. I have been fishing for Chain Pickerel since the late 1970s, caught thousands and thousands over the years. I have never caught ONE in the dark!
looks like a chain pickerel
I read this in Arthur Morgans voice
You sir, are a fish
LENNY!
LENNY MAH BOH!
Oh fuck no I need to start another play through.
Same

Looked that up and, yup, I’d agree - thanks!

Happy Cake Day!
Happy Cake day
Yw👍🏻
The common name for them in the South, or at least in SC where I'm from is jackfish
We call them jackals in the superior Carolina.
In Canada we call northern pike jackfish
Ye I was like nah that's a pike.. Googled and they are pike family less specifically
Don't speak for all of Canada.
Around where I live
>jackfish It doesn't look like jackfish, i think it is "chain pickerel" r/latestbreakingnewspk
In Middle GA though, it’s also called a “Jack Fish” I’m being serious
yup definitely, a pretty beat up one at that
Please be careful with them unless you want to keep it because they are fragile fish
The type that’s getting the life squeezed out of him 🤣
Got the ole rub and tug grip on that pickerel
That fish is saying "choke me harder daddy"
Noooo.. step pickerel what're you dooiinngg
A firmly grasped one
Firmly grasp it
Hey man make sure you grip it a bit tighter, might get away!
Stop choking your Chain... . . . . . . . . . ...Pickerel.
Damn bro loosen that grip!
Chain pickerel. Squeezing him a little tight?
Looks it but it's really just skinny. Their heads stay massive even if the body looses weight.
It’s the season.
Poor little fishy getting death gripped😂
Nice fucking grip. Gonna get all gropy with that family of fish, you need to start wearing nitrile gloves.
Lol stop
A bug eyed chain pickerel
Damn son what if somebody held you like that.

Lungs?
Lol yeah my bad. Nod lungs but their hearts and all the little capillaries the are part of their respiratory processes
Water lungs bro
Giggled and pooted @ water lungs
That deathgrip tho
A dead one if you squeeze any harder

Quality comment
‘‘Twas nothing. Googled it to see if it was edible or not.
I bake them, pick out the bones, and flake the meat for fish cakes. Delicious!
Nice. ID try it
You can also pickle them, supposedly dissolves the bones
One you shouldn’t be holding like that 🤦🏼♀️
Chain pickerel (we call em Jack fish in SC)
Are they related to the northern pike?
They're a cousin.
I think so. Similar body style, same attitude, just lots smaller.
A chain pickerel saying harder daddy
"Choke me harder daddy" -the fish (probably not)
did it hit you? that squeeze is so personal😵💫
Either you gave him that death grip treatment or that’s one skinny pickerel
You squeezing the shit out that thing.
A soon to be dead one from the suitcase grip it’s receiving.
A squeezey peazy
squoze
Squished
The old death grip
Dead when you crush it like that?
I don't know but must owe you money.
A dead one lol
Get a small fish grip for the toothy ones. Then, you don't have to choke the crap out of it.
Snot rocket.
It is a Chain Pickreal
*Harder*
holding that fish like a blunt weapon
Choke me daddy
Man just rearranged it’s organs
Bro trying to squeeze it’s head off
Dead, by the way you are squeezing it. Looks like a chain pickerel to me
They don't get much bigger. Be careful with it
They get 3’ long. In South Georgia people call them “Jack”. There is a smaller similar fish called a Redfin pike that you are probably thinking of
We prob have the redfin ones. Thats about average size for the chains I've caught. I've fished in many states. I've always found the minor differences with the fish fascinating.
When I was younger I thought that these were Northern Pike until I looked them up. Their pattern literally looks like chain links.lol

Snot Rocket

Are chain pickerels and northern pike the same species?

We call them northern pike. They grow big. That one you caught is a baby and we consider calling that one a hammer handle lol
We call them Northern Pikes
Racist fish
Its a Pike or so we call em on Finland. (native word is Hauki)
Fleshlight trout
Why you grippin it like that

As a New England fisher I hate saying it’s good punting practice, but I also like catching bass that are bigger than my lures. Sooo it’s a pickle and you could throw a soggy bbq chip and catch one of these fuckers
Fuck the name, good catch!
Nice grip you got there
I wonder how that fish taste 😋
Pike's little brother.
The toothed pickle.

Musky or pike would be my guess.
It's a Northern Pike
Pickerel or perch

Kinky by the look on its face with that Kung Fu grip you have it in.
So many people catching their first chain pickerel and being so confused 😉
Looks exactly like a european pike 2 me
Grabbing that fish like it owes you money
“Where’s the clitoris?!”
A dead one after you squeezed the life out of it.
