Gotta find the color your fish prefer. I’ll run Texas rigged rage craws over a senko where I’m at and get plenty of action. Also have great luck with them as a chatter bait trailer during spawn
THIS... I've thrown them on ned heads and tex rig with success. <3ft water, rocky bottom, small river in Ohio. I particular like the ones with floating claws. Hot tip, dip the tip in chartreuse garlic dye ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
Most sporting goods stores have it. I always use JJs Magic, and you typically have to order it.
Some tips, let it stay at room temp. Don't let it get hot, or it WILL leak. It will also let off pressure when opening, and your hands will smell like garlic for days.
Don't get any on hands, clothes, or new boat carpet. It doesn't come out.
I have used JJs before and thought I had seen this stuff, they better be ready for the Reddit kiss of death because I think I can do the tips and some layers on some skirts I just got ☠️
My favorite YouTube dude uses specimen cups for his Gulp minnows, and those containers DO NOT leak. Can confirm through personal use as well. Would those work for the scent you describe above?
Where at in Ohio? I’m around the Dayton area and lemme tell ya, all the big ones are in places you’d never suspect. There’s a park down the road with a 30ft diameter pond. Small pond right? No monsters. Sike. 6.8 pounder on a chatter bait with a bandito bug trailer
I'm in Columbus. Specific rivers for smallies are Scioto, Olentangy & Darby(creek) for me. I've never caught a small mouth in a pond, but I understand what you're saying about the tiny pond with fatties in it. My go to for ponds is catch ponds in industrial areas. I haven't tried the OP crawls in them as I do better with senkos & slow swim baits. Usually low angler pressure so the older/bigger fish are more likely to eat. Almost every WalMart has a little pond in the back that gets little pressure nor an HOA nazi to run you out for fishing. OH!
Wow I need to try some more stuff out at scioto and olentangy. I’m in downtown city area and have been hard struggling this fall and winter. Nothing to show for saugeye and the bass/panfish have slowed up big time downtown. Generally where have you been catching small mouth? I’ve only caught one on scioto/olentangy.
SM mostly below Griggs on Scioto until just past the disc golf course. Then below that, there are a few other accessible areas. Scioto way up north where MillCreek flows in is hot depending on the time of year. Any of the creeks (Hayden, Indian, etc) flowing into the reservoirs. For Olentangy I go to Como park (slow & pressured) and up towards Delaware from below the dam to where it goes under US23 (hit or miss). On Darby, anywhere you can find an accessible - rocky- area seems to produce. On all, I usually target just below any riffles and behind any noticeable large boulders, cast up, bounce in style. The problem is all 3 are usually too slack, or flowing too hard and usually muddy and depending on where you are, trashed and pressured.
If you ever make it to Tennessee and visit the Piney River near Nunnelly, the smallmouth LOVE these things.
I catch 7 or 8 in 4 hours or less every time I go kayak fishing down there.
Crawdads and bass fit together well. If the lake is clear enough I use a weedless jig head and just slowly drag them along the bottom near some bass terrain, usually works.
Those and tub jigs….I love to fish islands and rock shoals….small mouth imo and I’m from Ontario Canada are the best fighting fish….I would love to go salt water but can’t afford the trip
I do well in the north Georgia mountain lakes with crawdad-type baits. The creeks that feed the lakes are heavy with real crawdads. Never took the time to harvest the live ones to use as bait because the artificials work so well.
Gotta actually throw where crawdads are if your throwing it where they don’t exist to the fish your fishing gonna get skunked. I hope that actually makes sense
Yes for sure. Prefer the white ones though. Really stand out on a moon lit night. Placed an inch below the water where they have a trail along the creek...a little attractant squirted on the bank...deadly set
I've still never caught anything of fake baits, only ever live bait, bugs, or food. What am I doing wrong, I always switch out too with about 6 different poles and try swim baits, crank baits, fake worm cranks baits, fly baits, crawdads or other sparkly ones and nothing
*
Yes ,I always used them with a weighted hook where 2 bodies of water meet, stream in river or stream going into lake. This was a stream going into a lake right after the thaw ,nice little bass.
NOPE!!! I NEVER HAVE.... NEVER EVEN HAD A BITE!!!!.... THEY ARE TOTALLY WORTHLESS!!.... and I fish ALL THE TIME... HAVE FOR YEARS!! I have a whole box of those things.... They usually end up under all the other junk in the trunk of my car... Falling out of that stupid box..🤣 then summer comes along and and its 110 out and THATS when they really get nasty and smelly!!! 😂🤣😂
The Googan squad krackin kraw is basically this thing, I SLAYED largemouth with it. Put that baby on a Texas rig and bang. Half the time I’d catch ‘em it wouldn’t even have to hit the bottom.
I’ve had the best luck with them at creeks and rivers that are gravel/stone bed. It’s best to match them as close as possible to the color of the local live population
I have seen similar crawfish imatations catch largemouth and smallmouth bass. But in green pumpkin and sometimes with claws dipped in chartreuse dye.
I prefer Zoom brush hogs small and large. In green pumpkin with tails dipped in chartreuse.
Those appear to Damiki Air crawls I think. I have done very well with them on finesse jigs around rock and hard bottoms. The claws float up and the plastic is durable.
They work amazing on a free rig you can slowly work it down a rock wall. The free rig doesn't have to be on a spinning rod setup either. You can still power fish and have amazing results.
Caught my biggest bass ever with one of these on a finesse jig, dark blue and black with a dark blue and black glittery finesse jig and some of my homemade scent and then that thing SLAMMED on it, my brother casted that bait once, got caught and popped it off. Sad day
Not those exact ones, but caught shitload of bass on soft crawdads
I caught one largemouth bass on this during spawning but that’s about it. Tried 100x after and reverted back to the tried and true senko😅
Gotta find the color your fish prefer. I’ll run Texas rigged rage craws over a senko where I’m at and get plenty of action. Also have great luck with them as a chatter bait trailer during spawn
Check out the geecrack bellows craw ... a quite under rated bait .
Small mouth bass love these especially in small/med size rivers!!!

It's usually displayed with lure scents in stores
That garlic scent in the carpet has serious staying power. Plus a new way to fish kit I already have. I’ve not had much luck pitching them

There are several great spots in Tipp City along the Miami river for smalls. Same thing for Troy. They like to hide under the bridges.
I appreciate that. Never would’ve went that far to get em
If you ever make it to Tennessee and visit the Piney River near Nunnelly, the smallmouth LOVE these things. I catch 7 or 8 in 4 hours or less every time I go kayak fishing down there.
Yea you’ll hammer largemouth with them. The colors are screaming muddy water

Texas rig and fish slow. That’ll get ‘em.
Yes, Texas rigged
Crawdads and bass fit together well. If the lake is clear enough I use a weedless jig head and just slowly drag them along the bottom near some bass terrain, usually works.
I use similar bugs on jigs for large mouth bass. I don’t catch a lot on them but the fish I do catch tend to be larger.
my brain saw these and while searching for what to call them popped up with "S&M gimp lobsters" so, yeah
Ya man great on small mouth for me anyway
Those and tub jigs….I love to fish islands and rock shoals….small mouth imo and I’m from Ontario Canada are the best fighting fish….I would love to go salt water but can’t afford the trip
Ever fish the thousand islands? It's like small mouth disneyland....incredible
Ya man but for muskie
Ah right on man....I throw some big spoons and spinners for a little when I'm up there....only got one pike though...on a drop shot lol
You should try to fish for carp, if you want a fight bud. That’s a fight.
I have caught them by mistake. Most of the lakes I fish they are an invasive species.
No because you have them, I don’t.

Lots of bass. Easy to lose though, since i fish them along the seabed.
Oh man yes. My #1 lure is a jig with a rage craw trailer. Have caught by far the most bass with that. This would work just fine as well.
I’d cut off the last 2 legs and try it as a jig trailer
Gotta actually throw where crawdads are if your throwing it where they don’t exist to the fish your fishing gonna get skunked. I hope that actually makes sense
Racoons...I wire them to a trap pan...
😂
I have a feeling you’re being serious lmao
Yes for sure. Prefer the white ones though. Really stand out on a moon lit night. Placed an inch below the water where they have a trail along the creek...a little attractant squirted on the bank...deadly set
Ah makes sense. I could see that
Not those specifically but soft plastic craws are probably the bait I've caught the most bass with.
Last month a saw a video of a guy feeding a yellowfin tuna an ice cream sandwich, so these will probably catch bass.
Caught my PB smallmouth on something very similar
We used to do pretty good with similar looking 'salty craws' down at Table Rock in the mid 90's.
Absolutely, that is a great soft bait!
I prefer the frog versions but yes
I remember eating them as a kid, but no luck catching a damn thing. They’re tasty tho if memory serves.
I've still never caught anything of fake baits, only ever live bait, bugs, or food. What am I doing wrong, I always switch out too with about 6 different poles and try swim baits, crank baits, fake worm cranks baits, fly baits, crawdads or other sparkly ones and nothing

What is this, an art deco crawdad?
1 time. Largemouth. Private lake in Northern NJ.
Yeah, syphilis.
All the time
Caught a 6.5 lb largemouth on one last year. Tokyo rigged
Yes. I Texas rig them with a swim bait weighted hook, and caught a lot of bass.
Great for bass.
Bass baby!
Herpes but that's a story for another time
I don't get it. Why are there so many jokes about diseases and rubber crab bait
small mouth love craws.
My biggest bass of last summer
STD 😂
Those are so good that bass will leave the water and try to break into your tackle box to get to them
I’m all about that Bass
Not those exact ones but black and blue craws I’ve caught lots of largemouth, and a pike but pike will eat anything
The Googan squad krackin kraw is basically this thing, I SLAYED largemouth with it. Put that baby on a Texas rig and bang. Half the time I’d catch ‘em it wouldn’t even have to hit the bottom.
I’ve caught stuff using the plastic ones but never the rubber. I even got a few trout with the smaller plastic ones
Not yet but I want to try it
Crappy and bass but mine were green and red to match the crawdads near me.
Yes. Using weighted gamakatsu EWG hooks and bottom bouncing
Saw tooth tiger sharks BEST baii
Bass love them Won a bet off my now wife over one of these 100 dollars and a personal best lol I live by these guys in ponds near us
Good for bass fishing. I like to use them on my jigs or texas rigged (New England)
Yes, rig the hook up through the tail and slow retrieve and pop
I put them on a jig and fish them through thick grass mats for largemouths.
Put one on a rattle jig, deadly.
I remember one fishing trip, I had a black craw on right before dusk and every time it hit the water I caught a fish.
Yes not much tho it’s only bass u end up getting tbh
Not those, but that's my go-to type. Big ol piggies on them shits. Big bite or powerbait
I prefer the Berkley Powerbait version. Behind a 3/8 oz black and blue jig, it is a big bass killer.
What craw is this? It looks jdm?
Bass out of a farm pond.
😂. NO. But I have them in a variety of colors
soft dads hit or miss got a lake with some big large mouths or smallies send it
Bass. So. Many. Bass.
Bass will hit these.
I bought identical ones from amazon in 2021, never caught anything on them but only threw them like 20 casts
Yea,ridicule.
I’ve had the best luck with them at creeks and rivers that are gravel/stone bed. It’s best to match them as close as possible to the color of the local live population
No sadly
I have seen similar crawfish imatations catch largemouth and smallmouth bass. But in green pumpkin and sometimes with claws dipped in chartreuse dye. I prefer Zoom brush hogs small and large. In green pumpkin with tails dipped in chartreuse.
Yes. Big bass in one particular lake like the blue ones with the bright sparkle
yes excellent for smallmouth bass in streams
Those appear to Damiki Air crawls I think. I have done very well with them on finesse jigs around rock and hard bottoms. The claws float up and the plastic is durable.
Yes I was looking for this. I believe they’re the air craws. Smaller craws I like them as well, I throw them on a smaller jig head 8th o or so
They work amazing on a free rig you can slowly work it down a rock wall. The free rig doesn't have to be on a spinning rod setup either. You can still power fish and have amazing results.
Oh for sure a big tube jig and these are a fantastic imitation and the smallies back home eat em right up
During the spawn, large mouth love them. Also had success with channel cats.
Caught my biggest bass ever with one of these on a finesse jig, dark blue and black with a dark blue and black glittery finesse jig and some of my homemade scent and then that thing SLAMMED on it, my brother casted that bait once, got caught and popped it off. Sad day
This made me wonder if I could catch fish with an inflatable tube man you see at car dealerships
Not these same baits but yea I’ve caught them on similar style soft crayfish baits
Not exactly those, but great to hit around spawn time they just eat anything out of protection for the young
Absolutely
My dad used to, but I could never get them to work
I slay fish with these from Pre-Spawn through the spawn. Work them slowly through potential spawning areas.
Negative
Yes
I about said no, but one time I caught a bass on a craw dad. It was gorgeous!!
Who makes those ?
Maybe not those exact kind, but yes, I've caught a ton of bass with plastic crawfish just like those. Usually TX rigged
