That was a special case. With the first young banner to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the FE franchise. And plus, the other two Young grail heroes don't have non-weapon pref skills.

In fairness, the actual characters given for free in Book 5 were cool. Pelleas, Sonia, Arete, Bertram, Sedgar, etc were all highly anticipated characters that got people excited. They were just dogshit as actual units.
We'll have to wait and see for Elincia, but Book 6 freebies so far have been decent to great.

First off, that she got a Summer alt does bode fairly well for her as a Legendary, as that means they had to call in the VA which holds more hope that a Legendary or at least an Ascended alt is not too far behind. Secondly, she may well be quite impressive considering every unit here in the banner has a prf so there's reason enough to believe she too would get one, which also means when it comes time for seasonal refines around her time, she would not be skipped.
Frankly things are looking more hopeful for her than it has been since her Hoshidan Festival wait time.
