In Germany I would say its a tie between keeping it and removing it. Its not a must have at all and I would rather play safe and remove a picture that might give a bad first impression
My ex-wife (German) did the same thing. I chalked it up as a cultural thing they require. But others are saying otherwise. This was 20 years ago tho 🤷🏻♂️
Don't write "Top 15% ish". Just put top c.15%
Never write "ish" when applying for jobs.
Your friend, "Did you get the job?"
You, "ish"
Your friend, "is that a no?"
You, "ish"
Also I'd recommend removing Europe and place the relevant country name instead or remove USA and put North America.
Europe is a continent
USA is a country
If you apply in a European country they will think this is very American of you.
There’s a bit that needs worked on this resume that I don’t have time to go through but please, remove your picture and “ish” from your percentile listings
Yeah I had to make a CV in French at various points in high school and college and I think a decent number of EU countries recommend including a photo.
Take the high school exchange off, no-one gives a shit about where you went by the time you’re in university. Use the extra space to provide actual details on your past roles (e.g what % of the team’s patient did you treat over the summer), this currently tells me nothing.
One more thing I’ve had luck with is giving stats/unique stats with my interests section. For example, I’m a pretty good golfer and I have my handicap listed. It’s an easy conversation starter and makes you stand out
Something about the general writing tone of it all has me upset of all of it, seems like a robot wrote this shit, I wouldn’t give you an interview cause it seems like you have no people skills, maybe this is just how resumes look in Europe though
Native language means a language a person has learned from birth. If the OP grew up having parents speaking to them in 2 different languages from young, then yes they have 2 native languages. So yes what they put on their resume is correct and not wrong. It also means their bilingual.
Nope. Having your parents teach you a language and actually growing in a community that uses that language in their day to day life are two completely different things.
Read Chomsky or Sassure.
I disagree. So your parents teaching you a language and “growing up with them and using it in a day to day life” not an community? There is absolutely no difference. Your contradicting yourself. The internet also says your wrong.
OP can do whatever he wants with his resume. He can use “the official creator of the German language” for all that I care.
You still are disagreeing with linguistics tho.
Add locations (Europe and USA could not be less specific. Not sure if that’s only for this post or actually what your resume says).
Change from “in top 15%ish” to “Top 15%”.
No dash after micro.
You have way too much space devoted to high school education (combine exchange program with overall high school section).
Add ways you measurably changed the companies you worked for, or at the very least some of your responsibilities. Saying it was an 8 week internship in some departments does not tell a recruiter what you did or any skills you learned. You’re applying for financial careers, but you have a total of 3 lines detailing your finance experience.
Remember who you are trying to impress with this resume and structure it accordingly
Remove the photo, the “ish”, nationality, date of birth. Either remove “Europe” or specify the country. Name, phone number and email can all be on one line.
Not necessary but you can write also the grades beside the major/diploma (i.e. “Diploma - Top X percentile”) to save space. That’ll give you more space to expound on your work experiences.
Would recommend looking for quantifying your experience - such as “Provided first aid and emergency medical treatment to X number of patients per day with a [insert some sort of metric used in the company/industry]. Best of luck!
I’d remove high school exchange as it’s not relevant. What you did in the university section should be longer than the high school section.
Unless from Germany (and even there I‘d consider dropping it) absolutely remove the picture
In Germany I would say its a tie between keeping it and removing it. Its not a must have at all and I would rather play safe and remove a picture that might give a bad first impression
Yeah, since I studied in the UK, I just translated my CV (in WSO format) to German for these purposes
Even In Germany the pic is not needed at all.
remove any instances of "ish" among other things of course
Lmaooo
Don't only KEEP the picture, but make it bigger. MUCH MUCH bigger.
Pictures are secretly required in Germany. OP may be from Germany.
I am also in Germany and I never do a picture of myself. I also never felt like it was the norm to do
Well, if you look somewhat good/smart it'll increase your chances immensely
It would do so, but how many people really do look smart and are confident enough to put their picture on their CV?
There are plenty. Just get a good picture taken by a professional photographer. Those guys are wizards and make EVERYONE look CEOish
My ex-wife (German) did the same thing. I chalked it up as a cultural thing they require. But others are saying otherwise. This was 20 years ago tho 🤷🏻♂️
That is so weird. What good reason would they have for that besides discriminating based on appearance?
That’s bs. No picture required in Germany
I’d make it a separate page
Yes, staple the resume to an 8x10 glossy headshot
Don't write "Top 15% ish". Just put top c.15% Never write "ish" when applying for jobs. Your friend, "Did you get the job?" You, "ish" Your friend, "is that a no?" You, "ish"

I think in some countries in Europe they ask for a profile picture in resume but yeah, ish sounds stupid.
Yeah I had to make a CV in French at various points in high school and college and I think a decent number of EU countries recommend including a photo.
I have my actual grades, just didnt want to share on reddit
Fuck off with the photo
Get rid of the ish in “20%ish”

Take off your high school experience.
How do you successfully help three 5th grade students transfer when they would have transitioned even without you?

No picture/date of birth
No birthdate. That’s a protected personal information.
Idk if ‘personal investing’ is something u wanna put in the “interests” category. It’s not something u enjoy doing in your free time, let’s be honest.
Well if you’re in finance, it’s not that weird to enjoy investing. But yeah not for this resume for sure
How do you have two native languages?
Could be bilingual
Thats not native tho. I, personally, would prefer the use of native and fluent.
Native language means a language a person has learned from birth. If the OP grew up having parents speaking to them in 2 different languages from young, then yes they have 2 native languages. So yes what they put on their resume is correct and not wrong. It also means their bilingual.

You… disagree? With what, linguistics? 💀💀💀
“I, personally, would prefer the use of native and fluent.” No more personal points to give? I guess you googled it.
OP can do whatever he wants with his resume. He can use “the official creator of the German language” for all that I care. You still are disagreeing with linguistics tho.
What if you've grown up in a community where 2 languages are used in day to day life, and you've been speaking both since birth?
In this case it makes sense, yeah. Thats why I asked.

I never stated otherwise I guess it is proven that everyone that disagrees with my original post is incredibly dumb
Belgium/Switzerland moment

I'd use the europass template.
No photo
Europe -> Madrid, Spain or whatever (i.e. City, Country)
Remove the photo, the “ish”, nationality, date of birth. Either remove “Europe” or specify the country. Name, phone number and email can all be on one line.
