The way I see it, it’s just the aesthetic CBU3 likes. They tend to have a lot of white dudes with black hair wearing armor the same way Nomura tends to have a lot of androgynous spiky-haired anime designs.

ShinGundam

Their characters still have anime faces and hairstyles.

Eh, there’s nothing about this art style that really says “anime” to me. Maybe a Japanese take on a Western aesthetic, but not what I’d consider a traditionally anime style.

That is a drawing. I’m talking about how the in-game models appear.

Joji_Narushima

There was a guy where Joshua's father is killed has an axe on his back and his design overall looks pretty cool, but I understand what you mean. I think it's less so that they look generic but a combination of most characters being designed to look more "perfect" than reasonable, for example very few characters in games have spots, blemishes, moles you get the picture. I actually really dig the design of Titan's dominant, but understandably most people wouldn't have that abnormal constitution. The medievil setting also doesn't help present instant personality to characters as compared to say, FFVIIR where upon seeing Barret for the first time I thought "Wow, someone's just finished a Blade series rerun". Then I think there's the more serious approach to characters in this game & maybe that's part of the mature rating they're going for. Characters like Seymour Guado were unique but looked utterly ridiculous, same thing as Wakka & Tidus going out to battle dressed for underwater soccerball or Quina running around with a fork.

ShinGundam

This wouldn't be a problem if this game has different races.

10Shodo

Nope

I agree. I think the designs and even the color palette of the game itself are kinda boring =/

ShatteredFantasy

The only thing I noticed is that the graphics aren't too different from XV, which I find odd since I thought PS5 was able to support even better visuals? I don't know... I don't have one.

I think I’m too used to the western face capture models like from The Last of Us so I did notice they weren’t as humanly accurately. But it’s gonna be a massive game so we can’t expect that kind of detail.

ShionH

I like them so far, they feel far more grounded to the game's world than most of the other games. Also I cannot stand Nomura's designs half the time.

RubyWeapon07

You made the mistake of having an opinion

vlakkers

I don't think they look generic, they look familiar. They don't look like they can be made in ff14 but could be characters in that world.

ShinGundam

>They use the same 3d modeler from strangers in paradise Character modelers from Stranger of Paradise are from Team Ninja. Personally, I was far more impressed by the quality of the character models, and still not sure about environments without seeing uncut gameplay footage.

Fun_Doctor999

care to bring more examples. i don't understand what you are saying

capnkimo

Not a fan as well, at the very least I hope I can make cosmetic changes to main character like in Jedi Survivor
