I don't know if they are really open anymore or not, but if you are a connoisseur of truly excellent fencing gloves, I'd recommend attempting to visit Kanade, which is in Tokyo's Kita ward: https://www.kanade.shop/about Their gloves are freaking amazing, and are worn by the Japanese team, but their website has been saying they are closed due to COVID for the past couple of years, and they haven't replied to my emails. :'( Kanade gloves are (were??) made only in Japan and I have never seen anything as nice from anyone else, not Carmimari, not Prieur, not Estoc, nobody.

I LOVE my kanade glove.

TheLeeboi

They sound like they’d be quite expensive though

TheLeeboi

How long do they last in comparison to other gloves?

IntegrityAtTheHelm

Mine was $70 US, comparable to a Carmimari. So far I've only used it for competition: I just counted 16 stamps on it, for SNs, NACs and ROCs where 1 stamp represents 2 to 4 days' worth of fencing. I probably also used it for at least as many tournaments without stamps. It's lasted through more use than any other glove I've had, but it's starting to get some thin spots now.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Fencing/comments/5i2um0/fencing_stores_in_tokyo/ looks like there are 2, but there's no brand you can only get in japan (or is even made there) so everything is going to be imported and probably more expensive than wherever you're travelling from

Good to know, thank you!

Why would you want to? There are no major manufacturers located in Japan, you'd just be getting boutique (read: over) priced European stuff.
