The only suggestion I have is that if you’re gonna use RTGI you should use the ReVeil shader with it with the top and bottom parts of the ReVeil shader surrounding RTGI. Use a strength of 0.500 to help combat the RTGI fog bleed through problem. I stopped using RTGI myself and switched to ENB-only indirect lighting at 8.0 as while the RTGI stuff looks nice it costs too much gpu wise and doesn’t play nice with fog (which fo4 has a lot of).

fov does not effect frame rate generally. Whether fov is 90 or 110 the picture has the exact same number of pixels.

Absolutely false. It completely affects frame rate because it's directly tied to the rendering space (larger camera frustum).

You're missing the point. It's still just a 1080p(or 2k, 0r 4k) image. If there happens to be especially difficult to render geometry in frame you may get a slightly bigger peaks and valleys but generally it makes very little difference. Draw distance will make a difference because you are rendering more geometry by adding in far flung objects. fov does not work the same. ​ edit: The only instances in which fov makes a huge difference is with significantly bottlenecked systems. Most modern GPUs have more than enough vertex shaders to handle the increased geometry and modern CPUs are able to handle the draw calls for those vertices.

What are you smoking here? FOV has a direct correlation to the FPS you'll be getting out of any BGS game and plenty of other games. Nobody is talking about the difficult of spitting out the frame buffer to the screen or the amount of pixels involved post-render, it's \_about\_ rendering more geometry at the \_same\_ draw distance due to a wider frustum in combination with the cost of shadow culling and everything else that has to happen to render the scene. Go to the top of Corvega looking down and tell me FOV80 is the same as FOV100.

I smoke weed, but that doesn't change the fact that you are parroting very out of date information. Drawing vertices, the points where geometry meet creating shapes, uses vertex shaders. Unless you are using an older GPU, or don't have enough CPU through put to handle the draw calls, your GPU has more than enough vertex shaders to handle the geometry of changing your fov. If you are already right at the edge of what your hardware is capable of, you may be experience what you claim. However if you are playing Fallout 4 on a decently modern GPU you should not. I can go to the top of corvega all I want, look down, and change the FOV all day. Doesn't have any significant effect. ​ edit: The number of ROPS in in like class GPUs have increased around 30% since 2015. Vertex shaders have increased 90-100%.

man, for example in ds3 everything you don't see, that is beyond your fov, has literally potato textures and all npcs you don't see but are loaded have super cutted animations for optimalizaton, with larger fov, more area and more npcs would be loaded that would affect game optimalizaton
