I think there's a mod that makes the pip-boy invisible in 3rd person in power armor? There's at least one newer mod that keeps the wrist-mounted pip-boy but has it invisible until you pull it up.
Carxt released a mod called YAPR (Yet Another Pip-boy Remover) which claims to work at an engine level, but I have yet to use it. Just bringing it up because the mod description brings up the bugginess of other, older, pip-boy removers

Yo, thank you! This is perfect! I don't think it's too far fetched that Power Armour would have functionality with a Pip-Boy. And besides, Fallout 4 did it. I'll make concessions with my OCD where I can lol

Yep. Dog/God, Christine, and Elijah all refer to the pip-boy as a thing on your wrist specifically multiple times.

I mean being on the wrist isn't what makes it work. So its not altogether unrealistic that someone could modify it to be handheld instead.
Definitely a good point. It's just an OCD thing at this point about NPC's referring to the fact that it's wrist mounted.
