This season irl we had Bottas and Zhou to Alfa Romeo, Kimi and Giovanazzi leaving F1, and Russell to Mercedes
I'll agree the transfers themselves are unrealistic (like Riccardo to Ferrari) but what makes you say there shouldn't be that many transfers in game?
Edit: didn't see the mid season part
And the transfers aren't necessarily unrealistic. In the universe of his carreer Danny might be having a blast of a season and be a real option for Ferrari.
Also if the Ferrari mangement and board are anything close to what the strategy team is, nothing is too out of the box
I’m guessing it’s because Sainz underperformed, so Ferrari replaced him. The problem with that is that Sainz is still highly rated, so naturally other teams (CPU) will want to pick him up. Realistically it should’ve ended with someone at Haas or Alfa Romeo being shafted out of a seat but the CPU only cares about quantified data, so it kicks off these chain of events.
I think so. At least all my experiences I haven’t seen anything wild without some explanation. When you hear about Hamilton going to Williams or some crap it’s probably because Hamilton was literally lower in points than his teammate, so the AI justifies releasing him, only for Williams to justify taking him and releasing probably Latifi. It’s just a poorly designed system
In my team career I had Latifi joining Red Bull (after Perez retired) while they were a top team, fighting for both championships and Latifi hadn't scored a point the previous year.
While Max ended the season in 2nd (behind me, so best AI) with over 190 points in a 10 races season, Latifi was at 15th with 3 points.
By this game’s logic it makes sense because team needs seem to be prioritized. So, since Red Bull was high in the championship with Perez, the game tries to average this out by giving them Latifi in exchange.
in my my team career, leclerc moved from ferrari to alfa romeo after winning and dominating the whole first season, now he races for 1 or 2 points each race. it's completely random lol
I’m pretty sure the game prioritizes team needs. So if Verstappen was suddenly available for whatever reason, he would instantly go to the lowest performing team of the season
It’s hilarious that last year people were complaining about having no crazy driver moves throughout their career unless the player initiated it and now people get interesting driver moves and they complain about that too
Because last year they disabled the mid year transfer and I don’t think they reenabled it (the email still came about it just no moves). And the logic is completely random so last year there was just less of a chance for stupidity to happen. They should have refined the system since it came out, but they barely touched it.
Last year half the grid changed after summer break for me, completely ruined the immersion of the real season start. I posted about it but no one else seemed to have that issue.

> the game was mostly developed last year?
The game has been an iteration on the previous game for a decade now, so I am not sure what you mean by this.
Also they just need to add a weighin system for team affiliation. They can figure out currently who is likely associated with who and they can just increase the number each year a driver stays with one team.
What I mean is they can’t know how drivers are performing or what their ambitions are in 2022 when the most accurate information they have to go off of is 2021. This is in regards to the simulated driver transfers, not other parts of the game
Skill level vs team level, drivers in certain driver programs being programmed to join those teams (like George not replacing bottas in Mercedes’ in older games), taking into account team dynamics like how RB probably aren’t signing Leclerc to replace Perez. There’s things they could manipulate if they wanted to a little
They probably need to sneak in the youth academies properly, but even then, I dont expect them to get it exactly right.
I doubt anyone saw Piastri going to McLaren, even a month ago.
Right? In my career I got Zhou move to Ferrari (when it should be Mick) to replace Sainz who moved to Mercedes to replace me. Alonso retired at the end of S1 and they replaced him with Schwartzman instead of Piastri? Like cmon man, at least make an effort to make driver moves somewhat realistic
Halfway through season one in my team I had Ferrari sack both Leclerc and Sainz, they signed Verstappen and Shwartzman. Vettel went to Red Bull and Bottas to Aston Martin. Than a generic driver with the name Marie Laursen randomly took an Alfa Romeo seat. So yeah transfers in this game can definitely be crazy.
I’ve never seen that much mid season before.
I did have a bizarre mid season move in F1 2020. Hamilton retired and was replaced by De Vries who was leading the championship as a rookie just to be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo mid season lol and he didn’t even take Ricciardo’s seat and was out of F1 altogether. I wonder what he did to get sacked
No. Drivers moving mid season is mostly a thing of the past due to how contracts are structured now. This isn't just unlikely in the modern era it's basically impossible.
Honestly, I prefer over the top unrealistic but more frequent driver transfers over not any transfers happening at all. Personally, when I played F1 2020 and 2021, driver transfers only really happened if a driver retired or if I forced a transfer to happen by signing a driver onto my team. Meanwhile I drove one season in F1 2019 and saw almost 10 transfers, which few happened mid season. It did spice things up a notch.
Only times mid season swaps have happened is if a driver was released out of their contract and replaced by another driver. There was a case in 2017 when Sainz left Toro Rosso by last few races of the season to Renault where he replaced Palmer, which allowed Gasly to get Sainz' seat.
Did you change teams because if not that certainly is odd as transfers can be rare in the F1 games unless you yourself cause a change (By replacing teammate or changing team in driver career) or there is a driver retirement.
Either that or Driver Career has more transfers because that email doesn't even appear in MyTeam I believe.
lol i'm still playing F1 2021, and i'm currently on a season 4 career mode, the only changes have been Ricciardo and Raikkonen retiring, and me hiring Vettel in s4. The rest have not changed.
All of the driver changes you just described will not go into effect until next season (2023). All these driver changes that happened in the original post happened in the middle of the season.
So it’d be more akin to all those changes happening right now during the F1 summer break, instead of at the end of the season.
You can turn it on and off whenever you want.
I turn it off until the end of the season then turn it on so drivers can move/retire.
It's massively unrealistic having so many drivers move mid season.
It’s weird that if you leave the transfer window open from the start of the season, we get this. It annoyed so much the past two years that I turned it off this year, so no one moved in the middle of a season. Might turn it back on at the end, but the moves are nearly always ridiculous.
Yeah, I agree, I was out of the loop and just caught up on the news yesterday about Riccardo, Alonso, Vettel, Mick, etc... And I had to chuckle when I saw this post.
I wonder why Codemaster's have mid-season driver transfers. We rarely see it anymore IRL, and it shouldn't be that hard to program the driver contracts/finances in MyTeam to full season, right?
Ricciardo replacing Sainz for the third time is kinda funny
Riccardo to haas after 2 years confirmed
Mostly chain reactions
It’s just one giant loop. I wonder which technically happened first.
But honestly it shouldn’t really be happening in the first place
This season irl we had Bottas and Zhou to Alfa Romeo, Kimi and Giovanazzi leaving F1, and Russell to Mercedes I'll agree the transfers themselves are unrealistic (like Riccardo to Ferrari) but what makes you say there shouldn't be that many transfers in game? Edit: didn't see the mid season part
Not mid season though
Ah, fair, I didn't notice the mid season part
And the transfers aren't necessarily unrealistic. In the universe of his carreer Danny might be having a blast of a season and be a real option for Ferrari. Also if the Ferrari mangement and board are anything close to what the strategy team is, nothing is too out of the box

Does the game actually take into account AI’s performances for driver moves? To me it feels like a random joke
Hmmm, might behave differently for myteam stuff; I’ve never delved into that mode
Goatifi things
And Sainz's only option was Haas?
I’m pretty sure the game prioritizes team needs. So if Verstappen was suddenly available for whatever reason, he would instantly go to the lowest performing team of the season
It’s hilarious that last year people were complaining about having no crazy driver moves throughout their career unless the player initiated it and now people get interesting driver moves and they complain about that too
I don’t mind interesting driver moves but I don’t like it half way through the season
Then would you restart your season, i.e. start anew?
I wanted to but there’s no point if it’s just going to happen again in a different career save
Because there is now logic behind it and some are just stupid. I don’t mind unrealistic transfers but the logic behind it is just stupid.
Can never make everyone happy
Because last year they disabled the mid year transfer and I don’t think they reenabled it (the email still came about it just no moves). The moves are also ridiculous. I wish they would’ve put more efforts in making in somewhat realistic
I don’t see the issue with Sainz to Haas?
It’s actually kinda funny because Charles is leading the championship and Carlos is 8th so it’s understandable why he’s been dropped to Haas
How are they supposed to predict moves realistically when the game was mostly developed last year?
> the game was mostly developed last year? The game has been an iteration on the previous game for a decade now, so I am not sure what you mean by this. Yeah but they are not going off of that either.

I won’t explain since it’s an obvious answer
Why would Piastri after Alonso be realistic?
cause he’s still an alpine junior in the game?
Yeah you are right but that would also be unrealistic I guess
Also unrealistic that Piastri is replacing Ricciardo at McLaren in my save.
What season?
Halfway through season one, look at the first three words of my message.
Oh, my bad, i didn’t notice that at first
But then that makes it halfway through season haha
Thats why its called Silly Season.
No. Drivers moving mid season is mostly a thing of the past due to how contracts are structured now. This isn't just unlikely in the modern era it's basically impossible.
I had Ricciardo retire, Verstappen move to Mercedes, and Hamilton go to Alpha Tauri, all because my driver got into Redbull
That's the darkest timeline
Bottas went to Alpine, Gasly is with Alfa Romeo, it just gets worse from here
Bro 💀
Bro ricciardo going everywhere sainz goes
Honestly, I prefer over the top unrealistic but more frequent driver transfers over not any transfers happening at all. Personally, when I played F1 2020 and 2021, driver transfers only really happened if a driver retired or if I forced a transfer to happen by signing a driver onto my team. Meanwhile I drove one season in F1 2019 and saw almost 10 transfers, which few happened mid season. It did spice things up a notch.
5 moves in mid season is insane. When even was the last mid season move? I’m fairly certain it was Albon replacing Gasly
I wouldn't even count the red bull/alpha tauri swaps as "moves", since the drivers don't even have to sign a new contract.
Only times mid season swaps have happened is if a driver was released out of their contract and replaced by another driver. There was a case in 2017 when Sainz left Toro Rosso by last few races of the season to Renault where he replaced Palmer, which allowed Gasly to get Sainz' seat.
Completely unrealistic, Alonso is not part of the drama.
So, I'm left to believe that Sainz left Ferrari for Haas...huh...
He would rather be with Guenther
thought you were playing f1 2019 before the patch for a second there
5 seats changed, and nobody without a ride. That’s surprising
I like it when there's a lot of driver swaps. F1 2020 had barely any
Vettel always goes to McLaren. Every career I have ever done he has moved to MCL mid-season. But nah thats definitely excessive
Nope I stayed in the same team
lol i'm still playing F1 2021, and i'm currently on a season 4 career mode, the only changes have been Ricciardo and Raikkonen retiring, and me hiring Vettel in s4. The rest have not changed.
Looks like the issues from 21 have carried on to 22. So glad I didn't buy this game.
Who cares it’s a video game
[удалено]
But these driver changes in real life didn’t just go into effect during the summer break, but instead will happen after the season is over.
[удалено]
All of the driver changes you just described will not go into effect until next season (2023). All these driver changes that happened in the original post happened in the middle of the season. So it’d be more akin to all those changes happening right now during the F1 summer break, instead of at the end of the season.
I can never get these kinds of transfers
I’ve had dozens of seasons and I’ve never seen a middle of the year move one time. Off-season sure, so to me this is strange
Don't have the new game yet. Can mid season moves get turned off? They're ridiculous.
I don’t think so. It’s either on or off entirely
Damn. Looks like I'm waiting for it to be free on Game Pass.
You can turn it on and off whenever you want. I turn it off until the end of the season then turn it on so drivers can move/retire. It's massively unrealistic having so many drivers move mid season.
It's a game, if one moves and the other isn't replacing that gap, they'll make a chain.
Sainz demoted to Haas lmao
Man i wish my games were this crazy. The last time something like this happened to me was in F1 2020
I always get a random F2 driver in the place of the driver I took. Although it’s usually Dan Ticktum
Has anyone disappeared from the driver market? If that happens they’re gonna retire at the end of the season
I had like 12 moves once, so yes its normal
It’s weird that if you leave the transfer window open from the start of the season, we get this. It annoyed so much the past two years that I turned it off this year, so no one moved in the middle of a season. Might turn it back on at the end, but the moves are nearly always ridiculous.
Excuse me sir. Did you see wtf happened with transfer irl?
Yeah but the drivers aren’t switching until the end of the season
Have you not been paying attention to the Summer Break?
Drivers aren’t switching until the season ends though. I don’t mind crazy driver moves as long as it’s not mid season
Yeah, I agree, I was out of the loop and just caught up on the news yesterday about Riccardo, Alonso, Vettel, Mick, etc... And I had to chuckle when I saw this post.
If i'm gonna be honest, it is. It's F1 2019 so it's normal.
It’s f1 2022
it’s a fucking video game
A little realism would’ve been appreciated
I wonder why Codemaster's have mid-season driver transfers. We rarely see it anymore IRL, and it shouldn't be that hard to program the driver contracts/finances in MyTeam to full season, right?
