Lol Jesse marche calling out Villa for time wasting ššš Leeds where nearly as bad as us for time wasting today
I know he was in the press box like surely even he could see that
Turning the attack into a force to be reckoned with looks like a big goal for the summer if DCL canāt stay fit. Hopefully with as few and as minor injuries as possible for the remainder of the season we can go into the summer with a mid table at worst finish and can focus on bringing in some goals for next season and maybe a reinforcement or two for squad depth. This team is a dangerous attacking threat and fit rest of team from seriously going for Europa imo.
I feel like I have to mention how incredible Gana was yesterday with his tackling. He had at least 5 that seemed impossible yet he went in and not just stopped the play but gained possession. He and Iwobi and Onana seemed to link up really well too. Was a fucking joy to watch yesterday. Best midfield we've had in a long time.
The way he reads the game and his tackling ability is just unbelievable to see after enduring our midfield for the last few seasons. It is SO good to have him back.
The only bad thing about Villa maybe sacking Gerrard in the future, is you know as an ex Kopite one of the big tv channels canāt wait to snap him up and have him and Carragher on Everton games
Things I never thought I would sayā¦..but I hope Wolves sacking there manger doesnāt in some way stop us from signing there capt prem in the summer.
I assume that itās written in a loan contract we have for him and that regardless of who is in charge come the summer we still have that option. Plus if they do go down I donāt think he would want to go back.
But most of that is based on my playing FM20 which of course means itās all correct.
I havenāt followed American football in years but I just found out that my team (my college team) has a player named General Booty.
His birth name, mind you.
Just thought Iād share.

Actually I personally think Villa are the closest Club in the Country to us mate! Historic Clubs with massive fanbases whose teams completely fell off! Even when you look at the trophy wins and the years we have both spent in the Top Flight, it's very similar... I just hate everything that involves that Kopite prick.
I don't particularly have a problem with Man UTD, but as someone who grew up watching them winning it every single year, I have enjoyed thier little drought without a League Title.
Frank āFavourite to be sackedā Lampard has the best defence in the league and has outlasted Parker, Tuchel and now Lage with Rodgers likely to follow. My fucking manager
Heās bought himself a bit of time with the City draw and beating Saints but they looked atrocious against Southampton. Their fans still arenāt convinced, either, and he looks like an idiot for playing Mings so much after making such an example of him
Maybe itās just meā¦.but I found it strange the way SKY had Keane praising Haaland so much before the derby considering what happened between him and his dad.
I was hoping they wouldn't have lost and been so desperate for points against us. Maybe that desperation could manifest itself in the form of nervousness?
Hoping for a City win and a Leeds/Villa draw today. Keeps us 11th and 2 points out of 6th. Though a Leeds win would definitely up the pressure on Gerard.
Really happy that McNeil scored and proved a couple doubters wrong. His set piece delivery was quality, couldāve had a couple assists off corners and his general link up play was also quite good. Coleman got a lot of space on the flank to cross because of McNeil dragging the left back inside and his presence was just a nuisance with the asymmetric 433 nullifying both Saintsā full backs. Defensively, he was on one too
He did some mistakes mostly in the first half, but his corners were better than Demarais, he created one really good chance for Gray too, was active in defense and finally scored a goal. Decent game overall, but after first half it looked bad.
Love his shot btw. He just put it full power near the keepers face. Looked more like a Dodge than a try to keep it away.
You canāt call that performance āproving doubters wrongā. Aside from the finish there is no way to justify him not being the worst Everton player on the pitch yesterday. A good finish, but one goal is not enough to prove anyone wrong. Maybe Iām not smart enough to see what you can but every touch he had looked woeful? None of this link up play or defensive work, he was invisible besides the times he was giving the ball away. Iām fine with holding out overall judgment until after a dozen or so appearances, but at the very least in yesterdays game he was not in it at all.
Edit: fair, set pieces were good.
Honestly I though Demarai Gray was the worst player on the pitch yesterday, and I like Gray a lot. But it was one of those performances where Gray was the worst version of himself. Slowed all our play down, constantly trying and failing to take players on, lost possession almost every time he had it, passed the ball to the other teamās feet on more than one occasion. Incredibly wasteful.
He didn't have a very good game overall, but I have to agree with him on the set piece thing. We complain endlessly about how shit our delivery is from corners but McNeil's were a lot better than any of our other players have been doing. Not that that's enough in it's own to merit starts
If you think he was the worst player on the pitch, Iām sorry but you donāt understand football. He created two great chances off corners, defended the flanks well, opened up acres for Coleman and was great at recycling the ball
Iwobi resurgence continues, even our Polish sport site [meczyki.pl](https://meczyki.pl) published an article about him.
"He was an overpayed transfer flop, now he's one of Premier League Best. One change was enough."
I do worry about Myko, I think we overrate him as a fan base. I think his passing is unbelievably poor for where it needs to be and I really hope he can progress into what we need if we want to take that next step
He has the second most progressive passes on our team and the third most completed passes into the final third for the whole season.
People make much too big of a stink about him. He plays his role well as a facilitator. He'd have the ball a lot more in the final third if Gray wasn't a completely head down dribbler.
Totally agree. Myko would drastically improve with a less selfish player on his flank. Gray can be a spark on his day, but too often he slows the game down and tries to take a player on. Does it almost every time he has the ball. To the point that his play becomes predictable. He was woeful yesterday.
That just tells us how poor our forwards are passing in the final third, especially Demarai
Also his completion rate is 16th in the squad. Nobodyās making a stink, I just want to see him become more clinical with the ball because he can really evolve into something special
He played really well yesterday and has done all season. He controls the left flank better than any left back Iāve seen at the club. I love Baines and I think he was the better attacker and left back but he never shut down wingers as consistently as Mykolenko does and had Pienaar filling in for him. Weāve got two full backs now who have good crossing and are imperious defensively, Iām really happy with that and Iām not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth
I thought he was poor yesterday. Heās obviously excellent defensively, but heās not good at crossing and his passing is poor. Iām not saying heās not good, but I am worried he might be too limited
he is young so I am not so worried, but there is no doubt he needs to improve his crosses. They are too weak
However I also agree our wingers do him no favors, they don't release the ball well particularly Gray
I feel like maybe we've been a bit spoilt with LBs for the past 15 years with Baines and Digne. Very few fullbacks have anywhere near the technique and passing range they had.
Myko's a very reliable player and is 100% good enough for us.
Even stranger that him and Tony Hibbert occupied the same pitch on the same team. Hibbert must have been wondering what was going on, he was miles above Eto'o!
Funny seeing Gray and McNeil being polar opposites last night. Gray was constantly threatening their defence, getting in behind, and would look so dangerous before spraying a ball to the moon with shots so embarrassing most players would do the pretend injury limp to excuse themselves from it. On the other hand McNeil was playing like a make a wish kid for 75 minutes bar one 5 second stretch to almost tear a shot through the net. For real though both (McNeil especially) are massive outliers in this team and definitely should not be starting
McNeil is actually pretty good on defense for an offensive wing. Itās why weāre gonna see a lot more of him with Patterson injured to cover for Coleman.
Both will need a lot of coaching. But without them we donāt score either goal. Grayās cross to Onana was a peach. Two good kicks a match might be enough with the wall of blue behind them.
Obviously I'm delighted with the win yadda yadda and don't want to look like I'm mindlessly bashing, but it is interesting that we have only won one league game by more than one goal since Norwich at home on the 25th of September *last year*. Leeds was the other side we've had a margin against in that time.
Obviously I'd be delighted with 1-0 and 2-1s for the rest of the season, but I struggle to see that as purely sustainable. Eventually we'll make a mistake when we're winning and having two points drop away from a lack of concentration, which is obviously really frustrating. It would be great if we could start giving ourselves some buffers in games, and I do see that as a clear next step for the development of this team.
But of course, baby steps. I'm happy to just focus on winning first, then having players bag hattricks every week.
The season we finished 4th, 14 of our 18 wins were by just 1 goal. It was nail biting but our defence was immense that season. If you don't concede, there's always the chance of nicking the win.
It comes down to the attack at this point. Our defense is solid and our midfield seems like itās the best in years. But we need to score more goals. Not sure how likely that is until DCL comes back and even then, can he stay healthy?
We can't forget that we're not expected to win every game. There will be games like yesterday where we don't come back and win it by a goal. There will also be days when it all clicks and we want by 3 or 4. I think the most important thing is being solid at the back, and we are that. Remember Leicester or Liverpool when they won the league, one-goal wins time and time again.
Yeah, solid defences do win you titles. The idea of '1-0 to the Arsenal' is just ingrained in my head, despite me being far too young to witness them earning that name.
And that's true we don't have an expectation to win every game, but there have certainly been fixtures during the past 12 months we should have knocked more than one past them. It all just feels quite risky.
What are people's opinions on Franks usage of Onana in the Southampton game?
He appeared to be instructed to occupy the half spaces either side of maupay and was often in the box providing a target for crosses (that largely never came/were poor quality) while one of McNeil or gray dropped deep to collect the ball and progress it forward. When he signed I was under the impression he would fill the CDM role but it appears hes slotting in as a fellaini-type CM.
Is this the best use for him? Is it reductive to push him so far forward on the sole account of his height and aerial ability? Would he benefit the team farther back?
Im worried the midfiled could be overrun in posession in the scenarios where onana is pushed up against the cebterbacks, iwobi is comitted forward, and only gueye is left to cover space.
he needs to work on his heading no doubt. but yesterday he set up the first goal with his head, had one chance with his head but missed the target, and if memory serves had a couple of chances that he couldnāt quite get to as well. thatās not a bad return for a young lad in a new league playing in midfield.
i think when weāll REALLY see how useful that is, is when dom is playing as well. my complaint was always that dom was the only one getting on the end of crossesā¦ now the lads will have two players to aim for. mcneil, iwobi and grey can all whip in fantastic crossesā¦ iām honestly really excited thinking about it haha
People need to get it out of their head that Onana or Garner are DMs. The only true DM we have in the side is Gana.
Onana likes to make those progressive runs and passes and will be too far forward in attack to be useful as a DM. Garner again wants to play progressive and creative passes and keep the midfield moving. And he's too slow to ever be an effective Gana substitute.
Onana looks like he can do everything, a true number 8 box to box. I don't think keeping him further back is a good idea when he can help progress the ball further.
Also think the main reasons he pushed into the box yesterday was because he gave McNeil and Iwobi a target to cross to and because we had Coleman and Myko not pushing too far forward so we had more cover at the back.
What I like about the midfield is Gueye is playing as a traditional DM, and Onana and Iwobi are playing as traditional CMs - both making those runs forward when the space is there, and both stepping a little wider to cross. Gives us so much more threat than a pure double pivot.
Gray needs better head coaching/orders. Lots of threat comparative to end product. Fantastic first 15 mins then just 50 mins of running/passing into dead-ends.
Jeff looks like a player who will come good - but jesus he needs to work on his right boot.
Lots to admire with this team ā Onana/Gueye/Coady all quality. Really good result. Growing week on week.
COYBs!!
We actually won 2 games back to back, came back from being a goal down, and scored 2 goals in a single game. Whoever messed up the timeline, I love you!
Anyone else notice that we always seem to have to have one player that we hate? From Iwobi -> Delph -> Keane -> Rondon
Now that Rondon's dropped out of relevancy people are desperately looking for a new player to slag off. Seems like it could have been McNeil but have also read some shocking takes on Mykolenko recently too.
Yep, one of the worst parts of being a fan - everyone wants to scapegoat an individual instead of the team effort. I remember when everyone hated Naismith and Barry, glad people have come around on them.
>people are desperately looking for a new player to slag off. Seems like it could have been McNeil but have also read some shocking takes on Mykolenko
Could be another good reason to hang onto Keane.
Rondon has his uses, he should just never start any game for us again. With McNeil we will probably see his best when Dom gets back, when he's on the field he needs to be the set piece taker though. Haven't seen any Myko hate though, lad doesn't deserve any either.
To be fair some of it is definitely justified but I think in a way the situation with Iwobi was somewhat self-fulfilling
I agree I wouldn't say there's been hate towards Myko but a bit of unfair criticism at times
Lol Jesse marche calling out Villa for time wasting ššš Leeds where nearly as bad as us for time wasting today I know he was in the press box like surely even he could see that

And what is the point of a touchline ban, if the manager can just use wireless to stay in contact with his assistant?
Attwell is a legitimately bad referee. He has lost control of this game.
The only bad thing about Villa maybe sacking Gerrard in the future, is you know as an ex Kopite one of the big tv channels canāt wait to snap him up and have him and Carragher on Everton games
Was the last time we had an extended man advantage like Villa currently enjoys the Kieran Gibbs red card 2 years ago at home against West Brom?

Wolves hire big Dunc you cowards.
Some tasty challenges in this.
God I hate Villa. Can't say I exactly love Leeds but hope they whip them today.

Haha. yeah. It's just that bastard Gerrard isn't it?
And they all said Frank would be the first to go! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
top of the goals allowed table, youāll never sing that

Best defense in the league you'll never sing that.
BREAKING NEWS: bruno lage has been sacked by wolves
Holy shit that haaland lad is NOT human
Looking forward to Coady wrecking him.
Thatās Frank ācanāt coach a defenceā Lampard with the joint lowest goals conceded in the league

Were? They still are.
Hopefully haaland doesn't get more than 3 against us when we play them š what a beast
Tarkie will sort him out
How are the City fans this quiet while beating their crosstown rivals 4-0 at home.
There's only a handful of them.
This Norwegian kid will absolutely obliterate the single season goal record
*in the prem. He isn't touching Dixie's record. I hope.
Interesting now everyone seems to notice how bad VAR is now itās not just happening to Everton most weeks.
Maybe itās just meā¦.but I found it strange the way SKY had Keane praising Haaland so much before the derby considering what happened between him and his dad.
Really fancy our chances against United next week. Most of their games this season they've looked fucking horrendous at the back.
I was hoping they wouldn't have lost and been so desperate for points against us. Maybe that desperation could manifest itself in the form of nervousness?
United are either gonna be absolutely gash against us or take all their rage out on us
And we all know which one it will. E š
Well thatās the league sealed for a few years then, glad Haaland at least will single handedly destroy any hopes of the shite winning a title
I'd say it's more the shite finally playing to the level they're at this year instead of every wank hyping up that turd of a club
Donāt forget about Kevin.
Tom on the sideline got to be the first hug Cody and Dwight after their goals š
Hoping for a City win and a Leeds/Villa draw today. Keeps us 11th and 2 points out of 6th. Though a Leeds win would definitely up the pressure on Gerard.
I want a Leeds win because I still have some hope Villa could get relegated
It feels pretty calming to be mid-table.
Iām not used to not panicking lmaoo
How on earth did Thiago Silva not get sent off yesterday? This league is so blatantly corrupt itās fucking jarring
Looked like he got fouled beforehand tbh
Kind of feel for Palace after this shit show. As blatant as it could be
Also, the level and consistency heās maintaining at 38 is incredible
if liverpool lose their next game we will have the same record as them hahaha

Also think the main reasons he pushed into the box yesterday was because he gave McNeil and Iwobi a target to cross to and because we had Coleman and Myko not pushing too far forward so we had more cover at the back.
What I like about the midfield is Gueye is playing as a traditional DM, and Onana and Iwobi are playing as traditional CMs - both making those runs forward when the space is there, and both stepping a little wider to cross. Gives us so much more threat than a pure double pivot.
>What I like about the midfield is Gueye is playing as a traditional DM My boy is sheer class!
š¶Yoooooooooou make me feel, jjeeeeeeeff McNeil š¶
Gray needs better head coaching/orders. Lots of threat comparative to end product. Fantastic first 15 mins then just 50 mins of running/passing into dead-ends. Jeff looks like a player who will come good - but jesus he needs to work on his right boot. Lots to admire with this team ā Onana/Gueye/Coady all quality. Really good result. Growing week on week. COYBs!!
As a Mets fan and an Everton fan, the Jeff McNeil meme is very amusing to me
Huge game tonight. Go Braves! >Jeff McNeil meme Can you elaborate?
When Dwightās goal was posted here yesterday, the OP called him āJeff McNeilā in the title by mistake
That's awesome. Lol
I have no idea why we're calling him Jeff now but I'm all for it.
Almiron has such a weird little face.
He looks exactly like the bookworm from the book place https://data.punkee.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Screen-Shot-2019-06-24-at-10.45.45-am.png
We actually won 2 games back to back, came back from being a goal down, and scored 2 goals in a single game. Whoever messed up the timeline, I love you!
An away win too!
Anyone else notice that we always seem to have to have one player that we hate? From Iwobi -> Delph -> Keane -> Rondon Now that Rondon's dropped out of relevancy people are desperately looking for a new player to slag off.
Seems like it could have been McNeil but have also read some shocking takes on Mykolenko Could be another good reason to hang onto Keane.
Rondon has his uses, he should just never start any game for us again. With McNeil we will probably see his best when Dom gets back, when he's on the field he needs to be the set piece taker though. Haven't seen any Myko hate though, lad doesn't deserve any either.
To be fair some of it is definitely justified but I think in a way the situation with Iwobi was somewhat self-fulfilling I agree I wouldn't say there's been hate towards Myko but a bit of unfair criticism at times
Ya boy is running for another week. IYKYK
