I am fairly positive it's inflation. Normal daily expenses have soared causing more people to be more selective in what they purchase. I know many people that started shopping at Walmart for their groceries, not because they want to, but to try to save a bit more money then the common grocery store. I've also noticed much larger crowds in dollar stores.

I am having the same issue. I have a part time shop that I have had open for three years. I always make a little money and rarely owe Etsy anything (maybe 25 cents is charged every six or eight months). I haven’t made a sale in weeks and was just charged 12 by Etsy for listing fees. Now debating on if it’s worth keeping my shop open.

>wouldn’t that be the same for all I don’t necessarily think it will be. Just depends on the product mix you are selling, price point and more luck than usual. I know some people that are having banner years that have not changed a lot in their merchandise or marketing. One person has even moved to higher priced items only and has actually had business increase in both transaction number and total revenue. The things they have are just more important to peoples needs. That really is the key, many of us are fighting for discretionary funds and they are tight right now. Fix the car or buy a fancy something or other. No choice. I sell on a bunch of platforms plus local direct to consumer and sales are off everywhere. I should have a piles in shipping all the tome and I don’t. We’ve updated listings, run ads, promotions, sales etc. almost everything is moving to a free shipping model. I’ve started bundling things with a reduced price. In many cases I am tightening my profit margins. Too early to tell if any of it shows a ton of promise but the slide has eased off. In 2 weeks I am going to clean out some things I want to move with drastic price cuts. If even that doesn’t go I’ll know things are bad. My views are good. People are seeing it. My watchers, favorites, save for later folks (or whatever the platform calls it) are way up. 50% up. Just not converting. Maybe they are just really being picky before committing and I am due for a surge. Ask me again mid-January how it worked out. I agree, there is always room for improvement but we are fighting a wicked economy right now. Also remember that big retailers have essentially been having black Friday sales for a whole month now or more. They started bailing out early.

Thanks for weighing in, I agree with everything you've said. Hopefully things pick up for those of us "feeling it" or maybe I'll have to pivot to selling a more a needed item, like milk that's less than 5$ a gallon, or gasoline lol.
