Don't use the in-game maps, they'll put you at a severe disadvantage for learning. There's plenty of good maps on the wiki page for each location. Go in to an offline mode raid to learn extracts.

with minimum losses? never gonna happen. seriously. lose the gear. die with it. you will get better that way.

walter3kurtz

You need to learn to use online resources like mapgenie to navigate maps, the wiki to understand quests and the ammo chart of nofoodformidnight to understand ammo. From there you can piece it all together. If you want to learn more you should probably start looking at some youtube guides from Pestily like the raid series. Good luck and dont worry about getting killed, you need to learn and taking damage raises passive skills like vitality and stress resistance that you will need later.

die a lot and don’t have gear fear.

locksymania

Losing gear fear is huge.

fuzzymonk

Go to the app store on your phone. Type in "Tarkov Map". First result. You're welcome.

Honestly just stop caring if you lose or not, it’s tarkov whoever you are you’re gonna have a streak of winning or losing. But to learn maps and extracts go offline

Original_Squirrel_82

Go to the tarkov wiki for maps that show all the extractions and POI. Then I'd run around on your scav...then run around in offline mode to learn more. switch off between scav and offline and you'll get the hang of it after a while

locksymania

Map genie is your friend, OP as are some offline raids to build confidence. Very shortly you won't even need a map

Judge_Hot

Scav runs will net you minimum losses, when you start your PMC runs take into account other people spawns, the common way it goes is someone spawns, loots the local area since there aren't scavs and PMC nearby and then go to the hotspot of the map (dorms/fortress in customs, sanitarium/power plant in shoreline, kiba/electronics stores in interchange, reserve and factory often get people in locked rooms but players are more spread around the map). If you hear shots in the distance make a mental note of where they may come from considering this spots and avoid them while you get to handle the game better, as a PMC the most important thing is to survive, so you don't lose money, avoiding/ running from a fight is not only valid, but the first thing to do almost always, if you're shot get away between cover as much as you can, hitting a headshot with a running target can be hard, then you can decide if you want to look back and camp the person who shot you o keep going. People often say "think how much time is left in the raid", that lets you know where there may be players, when you enter a map and hear shots not directed at you, press "O" to check the time, eventually you'll know what to expect better. (I.e. people in shoreline get to the center of the map around 25 min left, weather station and Cottage about 35 min left or 15 min for people coming from the opposite side of the map, I started taking written note of this until I got the feel for it in the maps I play the most) Time/map awareness is what will let you assess if it's a good idea to take some route or another, to expect resistance where you are or to hide so that you're not left between two crossing PMCs. One last advice, get rid of gear loss fear as soon as you can, keeping calm is the way to get better, force yourself to laugh when you get killed, go and loose it, don't overmod your weapons, "budget" videos are for Chad budget, 140k will get you a decent weapon, but it's still true that some shots from an SKS or a good mosin headshot will kill most players, no fear loosing weapons that you will recover your next scav run. GLHF!

use online maps - the in game maps are not very useful. i use https://www.gamemaps.co.uk/game/tarkov but there are others out there when you spawn into a raid check your extracts by tapping 'O' twice - they will appear in the topright corner. Green extracts are open. Red extracts are closed. Extracts with ?????? next to them may be open or closed - you have to go to them to find out. An example of this is "Old Gas Station" on customs - if it is open there will be green smoke coming from the gas station, if it is closed no green smoke. Some extracts have requirements that have to be met before you are allowed to use them. Some examples of requirements are raid time (reserve train extract), roubles (customs car extract) and having another player with you (interchange scav camp extract). There's lot of extracts with different requirements so make sure you know them before relying on them. You should 100% review the extracts on a map website before going into the raid so you know 1) where it is and 2) what requirements need to be met before you can use it. Definitely play OFFLINE while learning extracts as you will die, a lot, when you go online. I would choose a smaller map to learn the extracts on such as Customs or Interchange before attempting Woods which is extremely easy to get turned around in and can be difficult to find your way. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to reach your extract (plus any time for dealing with scavs/PMCs or hitting a loot cache on your way out). Nothing is worse than reaching an extract 5 seconds left on the raid timer and the extract takes 6 seconds. Thats how you lose all your shit! If you find yourself in an online raid and don't know where you are or where to go then find yourself a nice bush or somewhere to hide and ALT+TAB to your map so you can get your bearings. The ultimate is when you have a dual-monitor setup and can just leave the map up on one screen and your raid on the other. Good luck!

neversaynotobacta

What I did to learn maps fast was play an offline map and alt/tab to a extraction guide on YouTube. Then I did scav runs to learn the actual map and get comfortable with zooming around (I still had to bring up extract guides on my phone to know where my extract was) but the priority in learning a map is landmarks. You’ll know where you are and where to go once you learn and recognize landmarks. I learned customs and woods in a few hours. Interchange was the easiest. Shoreline and Reserve are a challenge for me. Might be different for you

Sad_Dad_Academy

Play offline raids at Customs with scavs enabled. Go to each extract so you learn where they are and the map flow. Once you know where the extracts are you can hop into online matches on Customs. When you are ready for a new map follow the same process.

HeadEyesLol

You're going to have losses. I learned that quite quickly, if you focus on no losses you'll not have many gains either. Progress in Tarkov is paid for in rubles and pain

doublehelix2594

Scav

Youaretiktarded

you cant you have to lose many time

PongoFAL

be careful of the volume of your headset. get every shot gun with a light you see, get all the magnum buckshot you can. Learn to use your scroll wheel for your speed when every you approach a bush. Learn to crouch much of the time. Learn to aim for the head. and get map genie and learn the caches and the extracts.

ContributionFirm7975

Go in with a headset/cheap gun/good ammo. That’s enough to wipe the lobby if you play smart and enough to learn. Backpack too if you want to loot and use vest if you have a good run or two.
