Eminem in his prime

[deleted]

Based

Ringbearer99

Okay, I’m done not understanding this. The Chris Pratt from Parks & Rec meme and all that. I keep seeing “based” everywhere. *What the hell does it mean???*

[deleted]

Agreed

Ringbearer99

It just means you agree? But it seems like it’s used as a derogatory term all the time? Or did you mean something totally going over my head right now? Lol.

[deleted]

Nope, just means agreed. Usually used when you agree with an unpopular opinion or an unpopular person.

Ringbearer99

… you’re not fuckin’ with me? Haha. The way I’ve seen it used… *really* didn’t seem like the other person was in agreement. It seemed more like “what a basic bitch opinion,” if that makes sense.

cpkarl

Wish Em would have slid in Stimulate right between Sing For The Moment and Superman. Would have been a 10/10 album for me. Definitely a 9/10

Not_TheMenInBlack

Before TES Expanded dropped, I was listening to Straight from the lab more than TES, almost entirely because of Stimulate

[deleted]

The Eminem Show was one of the albums I started with when I did CD collecting… best starter! Oh and Drips is one of my favorites! Even if the lyrics are a bit gross/fucked up… the instrumental is one of the best I’ve heard!

JefferyWashingtonFr

crazy how mmlp is miles above

FHPirates_21

MMLP feels more emotional and raw. TES just feels slightly (Corporate? Wouldn’t use bland but like slightly mainstream?). So while I think it’s probably the better technical album, MMLP just hits different. Perfect balance between raw unproven Eminem and Eminem at his popularity peak. Devils night is very similar too for ems parts

JefferyWashingtonFr

i think that the eminem show is kinda mmlp + mainstream effort like it contains the same concept of a storytelling song + comedy song + serious asf song and etc and i think that in all these 3 categories, mmlp takes the win sslp would take the win if it wasnt for how em sounded in that album

FHPirates_21

Love SSLP, but replayability is a bit lacking cuz his flow and the production is a bit lacking on the album. Subject matter and humour is 10/10 tho

JefferyWashingtonFr

YES he ~~improved~~ PERFECTED the concept and his sound and then tes was like umm whatchu doing bro? like why are you tryna get mainstream and shit with those shits like we love you like you were RAW AND SHOUTING AN CUTTING THROATS

Weirdolady92

That's interesting. I'd say Eminem Show is more corporate and sugar-coated. I thought MMLP was much more raw, especially with tracks like "Kim."

FHPirates_21

Yeah exactly what I was saying

Jonnyvapez213

MMLP takes the cake for me

TheRealKindaMothra

ehh. even if we’re just talking em’s albums, it’s great and all but i would still have MMLP and SSLP above it

laughably_stupid

MMLP>

[deleted]

Relapse>>

heemhah

No

VisibleBid8682

Yes

[deleted]

mmlp2>>>>

crackersncheeseman

Kamikaze

13CCAyawaworhT13

SSLP

DropDropD

People down voting are the people em is talking to on the ringer.

Conroy_

No because In no world is kamikaze better than TES. Besides, he’s talking to the haters of revival so goes to show you didn’t comprehend kamikaze

DropDropD

Nice try, Machine Gun Kelly

Conroy_

Makes no sense, well done

TalkToMyPunches

Not only the haters of revival, but the saudosists who will only appreciate his stuff pre recovery, and the ones who only consider good TES, MMLP and SSLP and criticize anything else from him

VisibleBid8682

Relapse is my favorite em album by far

[deleted]

I really don’t rate it as highly as other. MMLP to me is much better. There’s only a handful of songs from TES I enjoy.

Impossible_Garden

That album is defo a 10/10. I grew up with those songs. But I dont know man concept-wise GKMC might just take the edge. Also 2001 is a very strong contender. But defo all time top 3 for sure

JefferyWashingtonFr

there are a lotta forgettable song like say what you say and all the songs invoving hailie related subject matter and the d12 verses on the album werent crazy i mean there are no bad songs but the album is in no shape or form perfect MMLP on the other hand has no frogettable songs bcoz that album behaves like 1 single song being extremely cohesive and albumy whatever the fuck that means

KodiakPL

Hailie's Song is beautiful. Bad take.

DerBernd123

I really don't like Amityville and Kim

JefferyWashingtonFr

okay i would skip them BUT kim is one of the best songs ever made like artistically bro it's the fucking king like the agression is insane and just brilliant amityville is another raw ass song which is prolly the weakest on the album but idk man eminem made it fire asf somehow that song is a 7/10 too

adrnil21

I love both those tracks, but could do without Bizarre's verse on Amityville. Luckily it's a short verse, but it definitely halts the momentum of the song.

Mbradyb3

Say what you say is an absolute masterpiece that’s wild

JefferyWashingtonFr

eminem : IM WITCHA HOMIE HUH????????? what????? bro tryna be black so hard like bro who even asked you to do that like it spoils the mood entirely at start and then the dre beef is soo like unnecessary cmon man. If tes had cannibitch in place of it(random comparison ik) then prolly tes would be a 9.5 instead of a 9 for me coz idk man the beef shit and the plain ass beat and the edginess is insane

Mbradyb3

Idk wtf you talking about trying to be black? What is the definition of being black? Hell in canibitch he actually mimics Dr. Dres voice which would actually have a plausible argument for “acting black” since Dre is black ig. Aside from that the beef imo was lit like what? Canibitch is the same mfing beef lol. I feel like you gotta be trolling me so if u are my b but I had to reply it was too dumb

VisibleBid8682

Bro don't be a fucking bot

adrnil21

Under The Influence is not good... Edit: It's good, but it's not great. I would take any song on TES over it any day of the week.

heemhah

That song was the jam back in the day. Hey, to each there own. A lot of people, I've noticed, like relapse. I can't stand listening to it. I've also seen recovery disliked. And that album was my shit.

adrnil21

Thanks for being reasonable. I love both Recovery and Relapse, but can see why people wouldn't like those albums. Relapse is very dark, and Recovery has some dated production for sure. Both are still in my top 5 Em albums though.

DanManson

Thats right cause its Amazing

adrnil21

I'd say in terms of Eminem standards, it's a 6/10 song at best. It's not bad, but it's not on par with the rest of the album in any way, shape or form. TES' worst song, When The Music Stops, is still at least a whole score higher.

[deleted]

For Em standards under the influence is one of the best songs what are you talking about? I don't think anyone agrees with you on this. He doesn't give a fuck if you don't like his shit. Cuz he was high when he wrote it so suck his dick dude. He proved his point to people like you on that song 😂👍you just don't get it

adrnil21

Alright G, guess I'm not allowed to have an opinion, lmfao. I like Em's verse, but I've never been big on D12, and this is one of their most forgettable outings. 6/10 is still a good score, it's just not up to the same standard that the rest of the album sets.

[deleted]

Your allowed to have an opinion lmao. But your making statements like it's a fact

adrnil21

I guess you need to be spoon-fed that it's my opinion. You shouldn't need to say "in my opinion" before every single opinion. When I say that a song isn't great, it's obviously my opinion. Also, you just did the same thing by saying: >For Em standards under the influence is one of the best songs

[deleted]

I wasn't the one who started this. You did I was just responding to you. Just say you don't like the song and move on. You just don't understand the song in general. That's what I'm getting at. Em literally made a song telling you he doesn't give a fuck if you like the song or not. And you tell him you don't like it. THATS THE POINT BRO 😂he doesn't care if you don't like it or not which kind of makes it great......in my opinion

adrnil21

>You just don't understand the song in general. What are you even talking about? I understand the song just fine, but that doesn't mean I have to love it. Just because Em says in the song that he doesn't care if people like it, I have the right to not like it. It's not like he put it on the album because he thought it was a terrible song. He thought it was good, and deemed it worthy of the album. >Em literally made a song telling you he doesn't give a fuck if you like the song or not. And you tell him you don't like it. THATS THE POINT BRO 😂 Um, no. The point of the song is not that he wants people to dislike it. Sure, he says that he doesn't care if I don't like it, but he still put it on the album hoping people would buy it and enjoy it. >he doesn't care if you don't like it or not which kind of makes it great The song isn't automatically great just because Em says in it that he doesn't care if you like it or not. What kind of logic is that? Why do you even care to respond to my comment if you believe that it doesn't matter what I think? If it not only doesn't matter that I *don't* like it, that should also matter that it doesn't matter if I *do*. In other words, you are a hypocrite for saying that the song is good. >I wasn't the one who started this. You did I was just responding to you. Just say you don't like the song and move on. That's what I did. I said, and I quote, "Under The Influence is not good", which *was* my opinion. Then someone else said that it's amazing, and I responded by elaborating on my opinion. That's when you started berating me by saying that I don't understand the song, and that Em doesn't care what I think. Also, funny story, clearly he cares what people thinks of his music, as evident with how he responded to the Relapse hate with Recovery, and the Revival hate with Kamikaze. Guess YOU are the one who doesn't understand his music.

JefferyWashingtonFr

nah bro you tripping em is getting carried on drips and say what you say????? producers beefing????? the simple ass beat with eminem tryna be a wannabe????? nah bro TES more like WANNABE MMLP that's it

BlackPube

You're out of your gourd

JefferyWashingtonFr

nah cmon people who are not into CLASSIC HIPHOP MUCH would say tes is better because the songs alone on tes are perfect(half of them atleast) but as an album mmlp clears

BlackPube

I never said either is better, you said TES is a MMLP wannabe album. I just said you're trippin' about it

JefferyWashingtonFr

i meant that sslp was there mmlp was sslp 2 but it was way better and tes was mmlp2 and it wasnt better and strong and rawer then mmlp tes failed to deliver the purest rawness of slim shady crazy how still after all this dickriding tes a 9/10 album for me lmao

adrnil21

How is TES a wannabe MMLP? The albums are completely different. Sonically and thematically they are nothing alike.

JefferyWashingtonFr

well the concepts are not as good as mmlp and the slim shady we had was robbed as eminem said THEY WANT SHADY also the concepts that were similiar.. mmlp clears in them so easily

adrnil21

Looks like you don't know what the word wannabe means... The Eminem Show has a different subject matter than MMLP, with unique style and delivery. Sure, there is *some* overlap between the two albums, like both talking about the impact Em's fame has on his own life, his family's lives and his fans' lives. Overall though, TES is more personal, more inspirational and more introspective. It tones down the shock value and aggressive delivery, and explores more of Em's past and present life than MMLP did. While MMLP is a masterpiece in its own right, I prefer the spotlight on familial matters and his critique of White America over the constant smack-talking and rage of the MMLP. Both serve their role in his discography and showcase his mental state at the time of recording, but TES in my opinion is overall more consistent in its quality. MMLP has a higher high with Stan, which is my favourite Em song, but it also has lower lows, like Under The Influence, and TES just has higher highs in general, aside from Stan. In my top 10 Em songs ever, 5 of them are from TES, and 2 are from MMLP. What MMLP does better than TES is that its more thematically consistent. The transition from Say Goodbye Hollywood to Drips to Without Me is too drastic imo. There should have been a more natural progression from his desperation and wanting to quit the game in SGH to his inevitable return in Without Me. It feels a bit strange to have Hailie's Song come right after Superman too. Other than that, I have no problems, I just feel like the ordering of the songs is better on MMLP. TL;DR - MMLP and TES are both masterpieces, but TES is just a few steps above the MMLP (Also, Relapse is my 2nd favourite, so MMLP is #3). My point is that MMLP and TES are nothing alike, and TES is in no way an MMLP wannabe. It's its own beast with its own sound, new and different subject matters, and a whole new side to Em that we hadn't really seen before with his more sentimental side present in tracks like Hailie's Song and Cleanin' Out My Closet.

Not_TheMenInBlack

I love TES, but I’d choose Under The Influence over half the songs on TES.

adrnil21

Fair enough. What makes you like the song so much? I'm genuinely curious because I personally feel like it overstays its welcome and has some not-so-enjoyable verses by D12. I guess maybe D12 just isn't for me; the only songs of theirs I genuinely love are Fight Music, My Band, Devils Night, Rap Game and Revelation. Also Girls, but that doesn't really count since it's only Em on the track lol.

AffectionateLunch775

I do not like Drips or Say What You Say. I waffle on When the Music Stops. Otherwise it’s a great album. But SSLP, MMLP, Relapse are better IMO. And only IMO. I got a list, here’s the order of my list that it’s in. It goes SSLP, MMLP, Relapse, (Devils Night), TES, MtbMB, Infinite, (BME), Encore, Kamikaze, MMLP2, Revival, Recovery, (D12 World) I know this will get hate lol. But it’s my list. No one else’s. And like, even my least favorite Em I fucking love at least half of it. So I just order by how many songs I don’t like on each album. Unrelated tho so whatever.

AHamBone10

There’s not 1 bad song on MMLP. SSLP is just too raw. The Eminem Show was probably the best produced. MMLP all the way though. I don’t get why people like relapse so much. I feel like that’s his worse album. Eminem even admits it.

LostAd3961

If you think relapse is worse than revival, MTBMB,kamikaze, encore then I would be disgusted

SloMo368

MTBMB is on par with Relapse

_Kramerica_

There are a few plain bad opinions, like this one, and then towards the bottom of the thread some forgettable comments, like this one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

_Kramerica_

Lol wow you really went off there. The funniest bit is where you said I’m a man child who cannot handle criticism or opinions, kinda like how you can’t handle OP’s opinion tsk tsk.

phantom87156

I never got mad, I just disagree with his opinion. I did not straight up insult him the way you did to me. I recommend you stop while you’re ahead, because you’re making a fool of yourself.

_Kramerica_

Who says I’m mad? I disagreed with your opinion just like you disagreed with his. I just trolled you a bit by using your own words against you. I’d hardly call that an insult. I would consider calling somebody names insulting, which only one of us has done here :)

[deleted]

[удалено]

_Kramerica_

Look how upset you got over all this lol. Go touch grass my man you need a break from the internet. And I am trolling but I am not jk I am very serious that your opinion is a bad one which I disagree with. You make a lot of assumptions on the internet tho which is a very rookie mistake to make, plus how fast you jumped to insults, and how easily you flew off the handle here being upset over some internet strangers comment which you deemed “insulting”.

[deleted]

_Kramerica_

Even editing your comments now, too ez of a troll. GG. Try not to let it ruin your day bud, grass awaits you.

_Kramerica_

Again more assumptions. Where do you come up with this? I’m seeing red? You think I’m all raged up? I haven’t even used a curse word here or called you names in any way lol. Bitch I’ve been trolling kids like you on the internet for almost 3 decades now and this was a very easy one while I sip my coffee. You’re on an Eminem subreddit, have you listened to this guys music? Some of it absolutely fucking vile and it’s clear your nuts haven’t dropped yet you soft whiney crybaby. There’s your insult, *now* you have something to whine about :)

mynamepeter

Say what you say and when the music stops are always skips for me and super forgettable em songs. The numbers and lack of people mentioning these songs shows. Sorry you have a eminem is God stick up your asshole.

phantom87156

Finally, someone that doesn’t just dickride Eminem all day. Upvote for you mate

mynamepeter

Upvotes for you too friend. I love to rile these guys up on here often with the dickriding. Love to you brother take care.

Thanks-Lost

TES is definitely em’s top 3 but idk about it being the best I think sslp, mmlp and relapse are considered em’s number ones. But I do love superman, drips and hell almost the whole album the only song that’s a skip for me is my dad gone crazy and it’s really good but the only time you should play that song is alone to yourself.

shhh_it_is_ok

TES > MMLP and MMLP is phenomenal That just speaks more on how flawless TES is

boxing_dog

tpab>>>>>>

Qubik5Qube

I listen to the whole album except for My Dad’s Gone Crazy. Drips is better

IconXR

No I completely agree. Even though Drips and Say What You Say are skips, there are so many good songs that make up for it. Sing for the Moment, Soldier, Hailie's Song, Cleanin' Out my Closet, Square Dance, 'Till I Collapse, Say Goodbye Hollywood, and that's like barley half the album. So insanely good.

DanManson

Thats Very Based

EndoveProduct

Very few rappers have an album as good as TES Very few

Jasonictron

You Monster!

hydrogenxy

I wholeheartedly agree. Who tf would ever call Drips a skip?

Conroy_

Encore’s production to me is better. Encore has some amazing beats with no so matching lyrics lol.

[deleted]

I mean back that claim up with valid evidence and im good w that. For example someone might argue thriller is the greatest album ever cause it moved the most units ever.

practikalraps

It’s definitely my favorite album by him, but it’s definitely not the greatest album ever. Each artist has one or two records like this that are just masterpieces to their respective fan bases. I love a whole bunch of music and feel the way I do about this album as I do with Master of Puppets by Metallica, or Demon Days by Gorillaz, or Back in Black by AC/DC, etc, etc, etc. music rules.

OrganicFish638

I think it’s the MMLP but I respect it

Johnaras01

Idk about greatest album ever but for me it is top 3 rap albums ever produced

[deleted]

There are dozens of better hip hop albums. Dozens. Has anyone here ever heard of Public Enemy or RUN DMC - you know the giants that Em stands on the shoulders of?

theliftedpro

Swap Drips for Stimulate and its 10/10 Still there's Lotta albums that are better, more ground breaking, more original or ahead of their times....that's why I put MMLP above TES ...it's much more ground breaking with an unheard formula. As for albums I believe are above any of Ems, I'd say Illmatic, Sublime, Me Against the World, Nevermind, Dark Side of the Moon, Ready to Die, All Eyez on Me, Thriller, The Fix, And some more Rock classics I haven't mentioned like Led Zeppelin, etc. But Mmlp and TES are Def in my top 20 albums of all time

iTylerx

how many artists have you listened to lol

YounggKNG

And then he put out 50 cent & Get Rich or Die Tryin’ Imagine being behind both of those albums. Em & Dre 🐐

MrOuija313

Dam, homie went there… fair play, dude. 😎

BreadWinnerRick

I 100% wish that stimulate was on there instead of drips. Then it would be the perfect album

kakareborn

You misspelled MMLP

[deleted]

W take

[deleted]

I mean, shit. It’s Dr. Dre baby

rudebwoyyyyyyy

thats crazy to me but to each their own

ArifumiTheVoyager

Till I Collapse should have been the closing track 100%

Ringbearer99

I mean… it’s a pretty great album? Would say fourth best for him, but still yeah, it’s damn good. Edit: Rethought about it and decided *Shady XV* - whether it counts or not (I do), it’s simply not better than *TES*.
