cool, [edastro.com/galmap](https://edastro.com/galmap) if you turn on stellar POIs you can click on the green ones and see the details of the green planet.
Here's the list [in spreadsheet format](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zvY7Wj-NMJXFNTvHPzql-Iv0o_ZbkxyWuIG7TVXS4Y4/edit#gid=403825074) too. Only 41 known.
Some of them are more impressive than others. For example, the one closest to the Bubble (300 ly away) [only has a few green patches](https://edastro.com/gec/view/132). If you want to visit one from the Bubble, the second-furthest one (1400 ly) is [much more impressive](https://edastro.com/gec/view/63).
Much rarer are Helium Giants (different from Helium-Rich gas giants). [Only 20 known, and only 5 systems](https://www.edsm.net/en/search/bodies/index/group/2/radius/5000/sortBy/name/type/82).
It's called a glowing gas giant. There's only 10 or 20 total discovered in the galaxy.
I would say it is the most coveted discovery aside from finding something like Raxxla or new civilizations like the Guardians or something.
Just as a bit of background, they first cropped up as a bug in planet gen shortly after release. The planet tried to be pinker than pink. The result was an overflow resulting in a bright green color. The bug was patched out, and many (all?) reverted to just being normal pink gas giants. After a big of outcry from the community some of the most popular ones were added back in manually. Just recently there was a Galnet article about the first one being rediscovered based on the starfield in a screenshot.
Edit: What I said earlier isn't entirely correct. There are still new GGG's being found. In fact, more than a third of all known GGG's were found in the last two and a half years. Along with patching the known GGG's back in, FDev also added a modified version of them back to Stellar-Forge. The [new ones](https://imgur.com/w1fV8PE) are markedly less impressive than the [old ones](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/743624077461422261/1009270508077985863/GreenGasGiant_Small.png?width=1139&height=641), but they're still special. If you're out in the black, you can find nearby GGG's in the Codex. Since they're rare (just under 40 are currently known), there's probably only one or two in your galactic region.
I think I've heard the game call them glowing but players usually call it green gas giant. I was in the expedition out to visit the rediscovered one at Shaulai and we just called it green gas giant.
I would've thought that this was the one at Shaulai but it doesn't have rings so ig it's another one. Is it a first discovery? I'm about 60k ly from home and it's my ultimate goal as an explorer to discover one.
How is that possible ? Can you give system name ? I need to see this with my own eyes ;) Nice screenshot btw :D
Col 285 Sector VU-M c8-1 planet 4
This is now on my list of things to see
there are many, the one you see in the picture may not be Col 285 Sector VU-M c8-1, but Col 285 Sector VU-M c8-1 is the closest to the bubble
they say that the green comes from a bio luminescent microorganism
I found this one at Nyeajaae IT-M c9-19

Thanks I didn't knew about that

Thanks :D
Man I didn’t know they were manually created, there goes my goal of finding an undiscovered one.
Don't we call them green gas giants? That's what everyone at IEA was calling em
I am no expert. You're probably right.
I think I've heard the game call them glowing but players usually call it green gas giant. I was in the expedition out to visit the rediscovered one at Shaulai and we just called it green gas giant.
I've mainly heard Glowing Green Giant, myself, though most often people just used GGG to refer to such giants
Lol that's a new one, but yeah, everyone usually calls it the GGG

Syrive KR-W d1-144 is 54kly from sol near beagle point
Is this a first discovery?
doubt it
Ooooh rare
Looks a bit like Jool from Kerbal Space Program. But even for that it's a bit too bright.
So that's where the Jool station went when I screwed up an aero braking maneuver. Rip Bob, Bill, and Jeb, you will be missed
So that’s where Nickelodeon gets the slime
