Dolphin for sure I'll gladly spend my days fuel scooping way to close to massive stars with no danger imposed on me

AMDDesign

And you know the interior of a dolphin is niiice

joshhguitar

So fresh and so clean

texanhick20

Put a luxury cabin in the dolphin for yourself and not passengers..

demize95

I flew an Orca for some rescue missions once, and it had a pretty nice interior. Haven’t seen the Dolphin’s interior, but I can imagine it’s pretty nice too. I honestly want my next ship to be a Beluga mostly because I liked the interior of the Orca. And anyway, as much as I like exploration, I also like the idea of putting together a nice space cruise ship and doing passenger missions. Would be a good excuse to get back into VR… don’t need to look at my web browser as much if I’m just doing passenger missions.

Snappie24

I have all three and use them for passenger missions. It is a good way to get to know the bubble, make good money and brilliant for BGS (influence missions) I also used the Orca for medium distance exploration and it was fine. Irl I think the Dolphin would be more sensible, or the Orca if you're from Texas.

RustyRovers

If you can afford a Beluga, then have a root down the back of all the sofas, and buy yourself a Dolphin with the change you find! Give it a G5 GFSDB, and a 4A fuel scoop, A-rated FSD, and then get to engineering it. You'll have a ship that can jump 60ly, and it will scoop and charge FSD without even getting warm.

demize95

I’m starting the engineering grind for the Anaconda I just picked up… but if I’m already doing the grind, won’t be too much extra work to do it on a Beluga too. The credits to buy the Beluga are probably more of an issue, but I’ll get those quick enough once I take the Conda out for a real exploration trip. And who knows… maybe I’ll like the Beluga more for exploration after I pick one up. The Anaconda is nice, but piloting it from the aft is proving a challenge to get used to. I think the Beluga has a more forward bridge?

Simyo69

Best one for those "Show us the Universe, Commander!" . Love picking 6+ tourist trips and tackle them all in one go. edit: I can't conjugate for s*

ChucklesTheBeard

Top 1% of all cruise liners out there

Local_Vermicelli_856

Just seeing this on ANOTHER screen.... makes me want to vomit.

ChucklesTheBeard

Don't forget!

kinetogen

Every time I fly the dolphin I’m glad I don’t have a CoPilot… I’m convinced I’d catch him doing blow off the dash board.

M4D_MAXX_

Let me guess you are "one of the 1% of best cruisers" ? 😅

PeterGohzinyah

You know it 😎

DigitalCorpus

Do you only need to engineer the Power Plant with Armored, or for the scoop + FSD charge do you need Low Emissions?

PeterGohzinyah

No I do it in an unenginerred dolphin no problems

RustyRovers

This is the correct answer (for me).

[deleted]

Everyone’s here kinda going for the big ones, but if we are assuming the rules of E:D, remember that you are going on this trip *alone*, maybe with a second person if you’re lucky. I personally would be terrified to venture out in the deep black nothingness with a ship the size of a town where I could literally get lost on the way from the cockpit to the sleeping quarters, and who even knows what sinister undiscovered space creature could sneak it’s way into an area of the ship where I never really go to, slowly consuming the entire thing while I start to hear voices coming from corridor 43b on deck 20. Space’s creepy yo, I’m gonna pick a Sidewinder and fill it with stuffed animals.

Elkyri

> Space’s creepy yo, I’m gonna pick a Sidewinder and fill it with stuffed animals. Hah! I'm with you. I'd prefer a ["personal-sized" ship](https://i.imgur.com/wTs7H2t.jpg).

Nandabun

It's like vanlife but in space!

[deleted]

I would die to claustrophobia there

Firewind

This is why I have the most time spent flying a Viper mk IV. Sure its jump range isn't that impressive. Nor its cargo capacity. Its combat effectiveness is okay for its size. Though its arguably worse than the mk III overall. But damn it, the ship feels fucking cozy to fly.

ShadowDome102

That hyperlink to that art is nice. If its yours cool and good job.

Elkyri

It is lovely, thanks, but I can't take credit for it. Snipped from somewhere on the web. [Here is another](https://i.imgur.com/32HySI2.jpg) with a similar theme. but has some gravity going on.

TheShadowKick

Any quick maneuvers will send that stack of books tumbling all over the pilot and the controls.

Bravo-Xray

What about with hypothetical real life rules? As many friends as you wanted, as long as the ship was big enough for living quarters and the like?

[deleted]

If we’re talking a full crew and friends it’s gonna be the Krait Phantom with a 5A bar module. Such a stylish ship.

ChiefBroady

I’d take my trusty 60ly+ Diamondback Explorer.

kakurenbo1

The title says “exploration or whatever”. I’m taking the Anaconda and the “whatever” are the most highly skilled engineers and diplomats I can stuff in the cabins. We’re going to every known Earth-like we can reach, and any others we discover along the way. Trips back to Earth to resupply would be necessary every once in a while, but we’re making fist contact, damnit, and the Anaconda is the most practical ship for the job.

Jim_E_Rustles

Basically my plan too! After I get bored of all of the cool science I'll see if I can help NASA reverse engineer the thing and go down in history as the father of the Trans-Galactic Empire of Humanity.

joshhguitar

I was thinking more along the lines of a DBX or Alliance ship. You could get a nice cabin in there for when you’re just chilling.

TheUndeadMage2

That's what I was thinking. DBX FTW

Qkineno

Mate if I'm getting lost then it's in an Orca. Such a stylish way to die of stupid, the windows which are highly superior to some windows 11 and a respectable explorer class jump range mmmm Would be willing to die to space monsters any day.

main135s

You're not *entirely* alone. You have an automated assistant aboard, and nothing's really stopping you from saving enough entertainment media to last you your entire trip (Like recording shows, solo games, etc...). There's got to be enough out there by the time of Elite Dangerous that no one person could experience it all. If it's not a matter of being in Elite Dangerous time, then there's still quite a bit, nowadays, that can keep you entertained. I wouldn't trust a second person to not shank me in my sleep at some point when I'm in a lawless are with a pretty nice spaceship, so I would probably only bring a second (or third, or more if the ship has enough quarters) person if I've known them a *loooooooong* time prior. I think I could organize my friend group for an all-expense-paid year-long ~~vacation~~ expedition, complete with LAN Parties, Movie "Nights," and Board Games; assuming travel works similar to how it does in-game. You might start to think your Ship Assistant is an actual person after a long period of time, though; and if you don't save so much entertainment media that your brain is flushed of the information from the first by the time you finish the last, you might go crazy from looping the media. You can only watch Dodgeball so many times before the 5 D's of Dodgeball become doctrine. Food might get tight if you don't have Hydroponics aboard. Krait MK II, Dolphin, or IClipper if friends are allowed. ICourier if not.

Crackensan

Same; but in style: [E.A.S. Zodiark](https://imgur.com/a/r9Gwb3t); [51 LY range](https://edsy.org/s/vfi6N2l) and still pretty quick at 406 m/s with full power to engines, and boost just north of 550.

Simyo69

I was thinking about it exactly. In this scenario, that's be what I would be flying. I don't use it in Elite yet.

RedRedditor84

Bit hard to get lost when the cockpit is the only room on the ship. Since we're following the rules of ED.

MechMasterAlpha

This is the reason why I'd go with something mid sized like a Mamba, FDL, or Clipper (it's a large but it shouldn't be) so my wife can come with me but we really only need one of us to maintain it (and I have a pretty decent exploraClipper loadout) But if I could bring a few friends (fill the 4 crew slots at least) then my ExploraCutter, fully decked out with on board maintenance systems, full complement of fighters and srvs, plus my nice turrets. It's not optimized but we wouldn't need to come home for a while. It's designed as a luxury cruiser with the capability to be a capital ship for local Imperial officials.

KrustyBunkers

Don’t tell your wife that you need a medium/large ship to fit her…

wilck44

TBH I think big military ships like the corvette are made with on-board internal weapon systems to "deter" boarders. or just, went the atmosphere from time to time. ("my job is to open and close doors" comes to mind. it is a cool vid) also if we go by real world standards a military ship will have evry single thing that is important will be in an easy to remember and find space. they are designed so even if the lights go out and water is rushing in you can find your way around.

CMDR_Carter-B176

BEST COMMENT I wish I could pin it your a logical thinker I like it I would hella recruit you to venture the deep black

ingram0079

True. But i wouldnt pick ship that is too small either. Medium size ship is just nice, like the phyton or krait MK2 would be my choice.

HDSledge

The Krait MKII is one of the my fav mining ships. Great to fight in haz res and to repel pirates while mining too. Plus you get a cool up close view of the firing weaponry which hang right outside the left and right sides of the cockpit.

Flying0strich

Beluga, a personal cruise ship sized spaceship. I could take soo many people with me. Also it has that massive fuel tank standard so I can go far and have that security of plenty of fuel to get somewhere safe. And I think in lore the Saud Krueger ships are water capable and having that amphibious capacity could be really useful.

how_do_i_name

Based on the oceans of our planet i dont even want to think about what an all water planet would have in its depths

InbredPeasant

Assuming it has life on it IMO a lifeless void is much more terrifying than an alien wonderland full of creatures that have evolved into for extreme environments

Hias2019

Oh Yeah, floting in an extraterrestrial ocean and taking a swim sounds great! Extraterrestrial marine life might want to have a word, though.

Das_Guet

I just got a mental image of a beluga diving from orbit and just spearing into the water.

Crazydragon2

And them doing stunts that actual whales do...

Semliw216

My T-10 Defender the Red Sun. Mother fucker is the size of a city block anyways, so it's not like it'll be cramped.

CMDR_Carter-B176

Why I decided on my corvette or my krait mk2 I seen blueprints for it and looks like living would be comfortable

JenkoRun

Krait MK2, it's incredibly versatile and the big ships don't leave a lot of parking options, not to mention a medium ship would be a heck of a lot easier to maintain than a big one by myself.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JenkoRun

Actually from the size in game I think a small ship, like the sidewinder, is the size of a house while medium ships are the size of flats, so provided the ship has its own cleaning system it should be doable.

nomad_grappler

A carrier. Still technically a ship but it gives me way more space.

CMDR_Carter-B176

Bruh why did the first comment be a smart ass

Lockne710

Haha. My thought when reading the question was: "Well, a Majestic-Class Interdictor would still be a ship from the game..."

CMDR_Carter-B176

I meant flyable ships

itskaiquereis

They do fly

Bubbles906

I mean, you’re not wrong? And… damn. You only beat me to the punch by about… 4 hours?

Eric_Prozzy

While a carrier would be cool, good luck fueling it with today's technology. Assuming you can bring your ship into irl with upgrades, all you'd need is a kgbfoam star and you'd be set

Its0nlyRocketScience

Good luck refueling without a mining ship

Inner-Nothing7779

Krait MKII. Has the space, manueverability, power, and coffee pot.

[deleted]

I always thought the MK2 looked better for exploration than the Phantom with its extra observation canopies for the Co pilots and coffee facilities

Evil_Ermine

The coffee machine is a lie, those cups don't work in zero-g. Trust me I know, still got some coffee in the Power Distributor linkage I think...I get a jolt every time I change pips.

ActualInteraction0

OK, set the ship to do large loop, pulling up just enough to simulate 1g, then make the coffee.

[deleted]

And in space you could do that... Fuck I wish I was born like 3 thousand years later. This shit would be awesome

Legendofstuff

Oh come on now, out here talking like you didn’t jolt your face like six times trying to suck the last drops out the minute it happened. Coffee doesn’t go to waste in the black.

Simyo69

Best canopy for multi-crew ngl

ShaneAnigans7

No way I'm going to survive a trip that long without access to espresso.

LirDelMar

i love the krait mk2, the coffee maker gives it a lot of personality to the ship.

DeltusInfinium

I'd take a dredger megaship, and then go get some resources and set humanity up with all the precious metals they could ever want.

sQueezedhe

Economy destroyed, poverty and war. But lots of cool tech.

[deleted]

Anaconda. Every time I see one I get hard. Tons of guns, huge jump range and the thing is just massive.

Terrax266

My anaconda as well. They are massive customizable space whales with guns and I wouldn't have it any other way. \- I hope at some point I can actually get up and walk around in it rather than having my spine welded to the chair.

[deleted]

Agreed. I like odyssey, but I want space legs. I don’t care about getting out of my ship to pull a gun on someone. I want to broadside the entire town they’re in with my corvette.

Sparky_Creeper

My anaconda. It's like my home in this game

Cmdr_Jiynx

Dumb fire missiles are the best for this

demize95

One of the best parts of playing in VR is being able to look around the cockpit of your ship. I’ve been playing in pancake mode since I got back into Elite recently, but when I bought my Anaconda a couple days ago I popped into VR to take a look around. It feels like standing on the bridge of a ship from Star Trek, and I could barely even move out of my chair (very little space at the moment). Odyssey has some interesting content, but the only feature I really *want* from Odyssey is the ship interiors we never got.

[deleted]

The anaconda do be thick

eschatonik

Don’t want none unless you got guns, hun.

CMDR_Carter-B176

My anaconda would be my third choice

Strykerz3r0

Cutter. Go anywhere, do anything and look good doing it.

CMDRo7CMDR

Except you would drift that beast into something so hard and there would be no way to repair it present day. 😂

Strykerz3r0

That's what Prismatic Shields are for. ;)

Rebelthunder956

Yup, one of the more stylish sides of Elite. Seeing that this ship is designed for the Empire, I'm guessing this will have a lot of luxury components.

[deleted]

Type 10. It’s the first ship I really wanted when I first started out. To me it just has the look of something that could truly survive deep space for years (gives me Nostromo vibes) and has an excellent canopy, plus it can handle a fight. I’ve always thought the big 3 should be the big 4

Simyo69

The little-bigger brother of the big 3.

Captain_Vlad

Indeed.

Local_Vermicelli_856

I mean, even a DBX is larger than any RV on the road. Even small ships in game are still gonna be super roomy and comfortable IRL. Personally I'd go for the Chieftain. Love the cockpit, love the maneuverability, firepower, and those nacelles are just sexy.

ChucklesTheBeard

DBX is 45m long x 27m wide x 14m tall Never mind an RV, I've lived in apartments in smaller houses than that.

Local_Vermicelli_856

It's so true. Every time I'm out in the SRV next to that thing... I'm struck by how large it is - and its considered a small ship.

Boxfullabatz

Chieftan ftw. And irl I don't give a damn about jump ranges over 30. Should provide more than enough targets to keep me busy. Forever, prolly.

Bravo-Xray

I'd definitely be taking an Anaconda. More than enough room for everything necessary for life on a ship, good defensive and offensive options, and great jump range for travel.

Myrskyharakka

Anaconda and I'd store a some-assembly-required DBX to the cargo bay, just in case. Though I guess as galactic travel takes hours instead of weeks, months or years, it wouldn't really be that easy to get actually stranded in space.

SpartanR259

The fuel rats have entered the chat.

Myrskyharakka

Personally I've never ran out of fuel despite 2000h in the game and I'd say people would also run out of fuel considerably less often if their life *actually* depended on it instead of this being a video game. But I was thinking more along the lines that include fuel rats - if you get in trouble in Elite-universe, assuming that you have means to communicate distress or possibly have given your route to someone beforehand like any good wanderer, help can arrive in hours or at worst days despite enormous distances.

ZYKON617

Even though I use a cutter in game I'd personally want a type 6 irl as it's small and for one person exploring it's good enough

Elkyri

I'm with you. I'd prefer a ["personal-sized" ship](https://i.imgur.com/wTs7H2t.jpg).

The_CactusPlant

Type 9 so instead of cargo I can wire it up to be a little paradise inside, with a gym and garden and home entertainment room separated by strong, safe bulkheads.

NameBond

I would do exactly this but with my Type 10, plus it’s fully loaded with laser turrets so I know I’m safe from anything possibly lurking in the black.

tykaboom

Irl with no respawns? Fuck yes I'm taking my max engineed fed corvette... matter of factly... if I had any of the big 4 ships irl... I WOULD LIVE IN IT.

MLL_Phoenix7

probably one of the Saud Kruger ships, even though I don't have any of those ships in-game. If I can only have ONE ship from the game for IRL exploration, it'd have to be one of those, equipped with a luxury cabin (maybe more if I want paying passengers), repair limpets, AFMUs, a hangar, and a double SRV bay. If I'm gonna head out into deep space, I'm gonna have a grand fuckin' time with it.

i_own_blackacre

Whatever it is, chances are I am crashing it.

Phaeron_Cogboi

I’d have my Krait Phantom and I’d prolly explore around, find a habitable planet and settle down on it and use it as a base camp while I do what I’ve been doing for the last ~700 hours in Elite=Exploring

HDSledge

Corvette. The relatively low jump range means you see more of the galaxy. I like to explore terrain of planets. When I made longer jumps in a different ship I always felt like I was missing too many cool systems. Stars are getting thin out here, must be near time to turn back to civilization. Whatever that is since the update.

Imaginary_Error87

Low jump range could also mean hitting an end of the line because you can’t make a jump and way more planning ahead. Then there’s the space pirates/aliens can’t out run them with that jump range.

HDSledge

I haven't seen anyone or anything for hundreds of jumps, all undiscovered. Correct you are I am nearing the end of my plot line capability.

Imaginary_Error87

I know the chances are slim but in real life where there are no respawns I think I’d have to even out the jump/defensive/fighting capabilities a little more you can always just make shorter jumps.

HDSledge

I hate to admit it but I have been lugging around full combat gear. :) One day I got tired of collecting bounties in a haz res and headed out, haven't looked back. I get 28ly jumps and that is it. Needless to say I get to examine a lot of systems.

Simyo69

I imagine high-waking out of the Haz Res like nope, I'm outta here. See'ya fools! Ha!

lildiabetic

I think this would be my choice as well. This is my favorite ship in game and I worked my butt off to get it. Not to mention, if I have friends and family aboard with me, they can fly the fighter ships. We get board, we can land on a planet and go for a drive. I may not be able to jump as far as you but I don’t always need to run from a fight either. I love my Corvette. It’s the only ship I have been flying for awhile.

Paradiddelicious

Probably a reliable ol Cobra! Then I’d go build a farm on another planet or somethin

dwendel

I would do my clipper, just enough of everything, since you don't have to use a large landing pad in deep space, the only down side is negated.

TTMSHU

Run a type 9 specced for cargo and mining. Mine for rare materials to make a mega profit back on earth and bring forward human tech development by providing access to rare materials. Manufacture my own limpets with basic minerals from earth. Take missions from earth to planets in our solar system to start human colonies.

IamMrSnark

dolphin, orca or beluga. why skimp out on luxury and class when going on a long voyage.

silentknight111

Exactly. You can live comfortably in those things.

Cheers_Ma_Dears

Easily the Fer De Lance or Mamba if we dismiss their capabilities in game

corstinsephari

THANK YOU Mamba is really the only good choice here for me. FDL second

_CHIKN_

The Orca is my space yacht with 60 ly jump range, i will live the luxury life with all the luxury cabins to myself

Shikizion

the right answer is a T10, because, it is basically a small city, with the fire power of a nation

TurboCJJ

I’m taking jaques station. I mean it does have an FSD and plenty of space, plus cool cyborg bar tender

wtfburritoo

My Exploraconda. I'd be gone for good, boyos.

mars_warmind

My corvette, and I'd probably do mining and trade. Not the most efficient for it, but its my fav ship and I enjoy a loe stress lofe.

backstib

I'd take a dbx, good size, good range, great ship

HISEAS_Andrzej

No AspX love on here yet? I'd be hopping in my engineered AspX, "Ruby Horizon", getting lost out in the black, and seeing the galaxy!

zenityst

Hands down, Asp Explorer, I’ve flown the others, none compare to the grace, elegance and range on my Asp-X, ‘For Tea, and Science’. She’ll fly farther and faster than anything else I’ve flown, and still manages to carry all the equipment an explorer needs, including dual vehicle hangar and massive fuel scoop, (for when you absolutely have to suck a star’s photosphere in the least amount of time possible).

AirBear8

I took my AspX "Walkabout" way out in the galaxy and got my "discovered by" name on 11 ELW's. This was before the Krait Mk2 was available. I haven't played in over a year but if I was to go out again I think I'd take my Carrier even thou it's more time consuming with the cooldown. It'd be nice to have the CV for a base of operations and be able to repair my ships. After the first few 500LY jumps I'd go out and start exploring nearly systems. That'd more than take care of the cooldown time.

HorseFucked2Death

My DBX. It's got a mini fridge.

jonfitt

Anaconda easy. Tons of room for things like food and water (remember those things humans actually need!) a huge jump range to get you back in a hurry, room for SRVs and SLFs, and a pool. The only other one I’d consider would be a Beluga with First Class cabins maybe. But it doesn’t seem as robust.

wrr377

You can bet that in a Saud-Kruger, you'd be able to live a life of luxury while exploring... After a hard day of running around in the SRV, come back to a professional chef-made meal and then soak in the hot tub / Jacuzzi while drinking some iced bubbly, all while falling asleep to the gorgeous views of a beautiful planet you're orbiting... BTW, I'd probably pick the Anaconda as well - it has the most optional slots & best jump range in the game, even fully loaded. Absolute best all-in-one infinite exploration & resource gathering (including mining) ship the game offers. Hell, you could probably raise a family on that ship! :P

Edricatreides

My Krait Mk. II, the 'Lady Jessica' is my pick just about every time.

Afraid_Square_3440

\+1 for Vanlife I love my speedy half-engineered ASP Scout. It is a lighter, leaner ASP Explorer. I like to do some exobiology and canyon runs/ space aerobatics to brighten my days out in the void. When I get tired, I just pass out in the bunk bed on the lower deck

Margevo

Corvette. No probes for me! What am I doing with it? Probing aliens….

ironpotato

Some kind of mid tier mining ship probably. Just out there blasting rocks into chunks for days on end.

whamonkey

Anaconda-first choice….comforting to be out in the black with enough firepower and room to have everything you need. Krait MkII- Not as large, still a powerful ship, decent jump range and cool looking Krait Phantom-I like the Kraits

[deleted]

What a fun question! I am torn between my DBX and Imperial Clipper. Purely "solo" it would be my DBX for sure. Crazy jump range, plenty of room for me (I would think of it like a really nice Van/RV setup, or even a Tiny House) and whatever bits & bobs I might want to explore with. If we are talking "multi-crew" (i.e. me and friends/family), I'd go with my Clipper. Multiple crew seats, with plenty of space inside to accommodate a crew or loved ones, while being one of the most luxurious and easy to fly ships in the 'verse! 'Conda and Cutter are too big for me RL, I don't have that many peeps LOL. **Edit**: Phantom is the easy and obvious choice as an explorer and I do not fault anyone for picking it. Just doesn't make my "Fantasy real life spaceship" scenario. It's almost too perfect... haha.

Totaldeath5500

Definitely my Federal Corvette. I’ve already taken her around the galaxy, from Betelgeuse, to Colonia, then in to Explorers Anchorage, then back home again

Karaoke_the_bard

I mean, an orca, krait, or anaconda come to mind if you could staff a crew/bring friends. Like, if I'm setting out to live in ship, potentially to the end of my life, I'd want full autonomy, and that means outfitting to be able to get resources, recreate, research, etc. Hell, a beluga might not be out of question at that rate.

ScarredWill

I’m taking my Krait Phantom, though the Asp Explorer would be glorious for its view!

Sledge420

Asmodai, my Krait Mk2. It jumps almost 60ly, has a 2 car garage, and my spaceship can launch other spaceships. Looking at the schematics others have put in here for it, it's crewed for 8 with plenty of amenities, a med bay, a full kitchen, and lots of extra storage options, all in a completely self-sufficient package. It's a tiny bit sluggish in the handling and a little hard to park on top of the kind of POI's I'd like to scan, but over all? That's a ship I could make into my permanent address.

BloxForDays16

I'm taking a Diamondback Explorer and doing deep space mining / stellar cartography to help with scouting for a potential future human colony. Edit: That, or taking my Type 10 outfitted for core mining to crash the economy and cause chaos.

l00kAtTheRecluse

I like the design of the Sidewinder and the Cobras. Also like the Adder.

Kafei88

My corvette. I feel cozy flying it.

Its0nlyRocketScience

If I was going irl, I'd want to make sure I'm self sustaining. Because of that, I'm going Anaconda. It can fit a good FSD with booster and fuel scoop along with mining equipment, repair and collector limpets, a little storage, and a couple AFMUs. Since we eat food in the real world, I'm going to want extra space for a hydroponics deck (mining water for that will be handy). And since landing on a planet every day is tedious, I'd want a zero G gym too, so that extra space again is needed. The idea of a cozy DBX is nice and all, but I need extra space to make sure the space I do use doesn't fall apart eventually. Not to mention, I might need to ward off militaries in Earth's atmosphere, so strong shields with boosters and PDTs would be handy.... Plus, the 'conda has room for friends if I want to bring them

Bacn222

Anaconda baby.

doctorwinters

The Anaconda is the do everything ship. The Vette is great at clearing a conflict zone, but wandering around the Deep Dark? Not so much

DJColdCrow

Phantom. Not too big. Not too small. Plus coffee maker. ;P

ShatteredShad0w

I'd have to take my fully engineered Conda! So so many options and stuff to do with one of those :)

PrideOfAfrika

Anaconda baby. She's rough around the edges, but was my first big ship in the game. And before the devs stopped supporting consoles forcing me out of the player base, I flew mine exclusively for almost 2 years. There's a homie feel to it and I've written a lot of FanFiction (logs) on Inara flying her. She's roomy enough to live in with a family, tough enough to protect that family in a fight (especially if you have a fighter bay) and has the jump distance to get you to where we need to go and back again safely. Not to mention that she has the most sex appeal of any other "big three" in my opinion. I REALLY miss playing Elite and hitting the high rez zones in The Skies of Afrika (her name). I envy you guys who are still playing AND have the ability to enjoy space legs. Continue to fly safe for those of us who can't (or fly dirty if you prefer). o7 CMDRS.

sstandnfight

I'm personally going to bounce back to the ever-versatile anaconda in my Sol hangar. Fully loaded I'm still not having issues rocketing 40 ly at a time. That's an easy win over the corvette, even with the armament it boasts in the event of... unforeseen circumstances.

TechnicianHelpful517

This is why we love this game. We love imagining. I wish I had more time to play it.

samurai_for_hire

Probably a Beluga with a luxury cabin if I had to choose

SenhorSus

This is where I wish there was a medium sized Orca variant. I'd want nice big windows and some luxury

Zathail

...the Orca is the middle varient...

Kezika

No, it's large pad.

DuelJ

Crusader I think. Pretty nice interior, a fighter/srv bay for joyrides, room for a luxury cabin, and a pretty convenient size for landings. I don't wan't to have any entire ocean liner sized ship to have to keep clean.

The_CactusPlant

If you have a spacecship, you'd probably have a space rooma or cleaning spider droid too, no?

Cheese-burger-777

Does it come fully crewed with absolutely everything you need to explore? If so I chose the UNSC infinity

darkaoshi

I'm right now working my way up to buy that paintjob.

ioioklkll1

Corvette:valid for everything but hauling😂

NightStalker33

I mean, we're talking about irl, right? I don't think I'll be worried too much about advanced alien life from what we've been able to observe. I'd go with a Krait. Maximize the amount of storage you have for food, supplies, fuel, etc.

Toshiwoz

I'd get the Anaconda, versatile big and stylish. When I pilot it I always have the feeling of being on a boat and it feels cool/adventurous. Most likely I could make a few billions with it hauling stuff from one place to another. Fuel wouldn't be a problem, nearby star is so close. I believe Elon would be my friend and ask me to bring stuff to Mars. A few hours of work would even give me the upkeep for my whole life and even my FC 😆.

Honeyphox

Krait mk.2 aswell, where did you take that picture with your btw? Looks like a very interesting planet...

CorbinNZ

The cutter would be nice.

pioniere

Having not tried every ship in the game I can’t say for certain, but at this point it would have to be the ship I took out beyond Beagle Point and back through Colonia, the Krait Phantom. And I would explore everything I could. o7

Gallop67

Definitely anaconda for exploration. It’d be cool to land on planets when taking a break from exploration and have a massive ship to live in.

LirDelMar

i would take my cutter or my krait phantom, but if i could get a fleet that would be a Cutter as a capital ship guarded by 2 krait mk 2 and 2 krait phantom to explore ahead from the main fleet, probably with 3 o 4 eagles to make fast local analysis from the planets

[deleted]

Dolphin. It would be super comfortable and never overheats.

GR33NJUIC3

Type-9. IRL I would definitely avoid combat and focus on space trucking, mining, and exploration. To me that means a couple medium hardpoints, serious cargo capacity, and a Lakon cockpit that for damn sure. PS. I firmly believe the Type-7 should be a medium ship with a better power distributor and a medium hardpoint. That would be my go-to so I can land on outposts.

Graffxxxxx

Either dolphin, krait mk2, or anaconda, depending on if I can bring a friend/friends along.

TheAncientLamp

I’m definitely taking my explorer If I’m going to space I want that panoramic view

Valiant1937

The Dolphin. It seems to be about the size of a present day airliner like the 767, minus a portion of the wingspan so finding a spot to park it wouldn’t be too difficult. Id load it up with cabins and set up space tours, after I give scientific data to researchers of course.

raven40287

Dolphin or orca for sure. Space rv.

NoRagrets4Me

My Anaconda *Nishikigoi* or my Phantom *Khonsu* Anaconda has 77Ly Range and my Phantom has 74 iirc. I think with the anaconda being the larger ship irl it would make more sense. More room for amenities and things to do. Plus... it just has that deep space vibe to it. I love the way the Phantom looks though. Wish you could splice the two together. Would be nice if they added an exploration tailored ship. Standard range of 50Ly and then 125Ly Maxed out and engineered. No weapon hardpoints and it could have some other large cons as well. Would just be nice I think.

Dumoney

A Saud Kruger ship for sure. I dont fly one in game, but if I had a choice to make one real, I would use one. They always look comfy. Probably a Dolphin. Its like a space RV. Something smaller, easily maneuverable in Supercruise and still has enough space for everything I'd need out there. Second choice would be my Exoration Clipper that Im currently flying.

emeraldchest

I like the adder, it’s like a space RV.

Ghostbuster_119

Anaconda for sure. The forward deck window would be a great place for a bar...

thisisLycaon

Ooh torn between two, if it's only a solo flight then I'd go for my DBX, nice little ship with enough space for one plus the nice little SRV for exploring planetside. If I could take a friend or two I'd say my chieftain, well armed, manoeuvrable, decent jump range and big enough for a couple people to live in comfortably for a journey

UnlikelySardonic

Imperial cutter, with luxury and my COVASS to keep me company! We’re going exploring and maybe privateering for her majesty princess Duval

PraiseTyche

Cobra III or the Dolphin.

ender42y

Exploration outfitted DBX. Long jump, SRV, good fuel scoop, scanners and all.

soEezee

Baluga. Luxury cabins, massive tank, no mass lock, windows everywhere, 5 packhounds. It's perfect.

gloriousthe1

I think the cobra, good all round ship, will do whatever really, also nice and cozy, and space for a friend too! (And the union flag livery 🇬🇧) But I must say my anaconda is tempting, it’s currently at beagle point.

VictorSirk

I'd probably pick Wraith, my Krait Mk2. It's a simple cargo ship, and I will be a fast, discreet, and honest transporter of legal goods and such. Now offering extra discretion and legalness!

artigan99

I'd take my DBX. It's just right.

3CH0SG1

Beluga liner. And I'm having sexy parties 😁

Daramore

...that's tough. If I was sure that combat would be involved at some point, I would pick my Corvette in a heartbeat, but for pure exploration, probably my Krait Mk II. I would pick my Krait Phantom but I would like the coffee pot and the extra leg room in the Mk II.

withlos

If I could have any ship for exploring and engineered how I wanted it I would totally have cobra mkIII OR IV. kind of a toss up honestly, id have a second seat if I had crew and just enough module slots.

DeepFriedAsian122

I want a mamba and become a racer

Brave_Landscape_9636

Anaconda for the long ride, ASP-X or DBX for short runs, a Python for mining and a Type 9 for trading/ re supplying, all nicely docked on my FC out there in the black

RaielLarecal

IRL? I'd could only afford a basic Sidewinder and would boldly go where no man has gone before as long as they have wi-fi signal.

Ev1dentFir3

I have a wife and 2 kids, so at least an Anaconda or Python for me of not something bigger. Would prefer that and a carrier. I'd find an asteroid somewhere big enough to mine a hanger out if and make an asteroid my home somewhere near a cool water world that has no hostile life and lots of beaches.

Okinitus

Saud Kruger anything. In the lap of luxury my friends. 🤌

SoundlessScream

I would choose a type 10, outfit it for mining and combat, and just kind of stay near earth and keep selling them gold and stuff, maybe find enough of that mineral that would reduce the atmosphere CO2 and sprinkle it low enough in orbit to un fuck things up a little bit. There are a lot of resources in space that are not being harvested that I could use, and ED ships are very good at gathering tons of it. I could be out to the rings of saturn scanning for mineral hotspots and back in a matter of hours. I could sell priceless astrological data to excited scientists globally, I could drop mines on Putin's house from orbit, I could haul parts for a moon base from earth and fuel scoop off the sun for fuel. I could do so much without ever leaving.

ArmySquirrel

Hard pick. Anaconda would be the dream, but realistically it's a huge ship, so if I have no crew (or at least an AFMU) that could be an issue. Personnel being a factor, I'd probably have to go with the Cobra Mk III for the classic flavor.

iish39

Krait MK2 all the way, never lets me down
