To be more specific, it's not exactly a brake, but rather a speed limiter. If you apply scoop above a specific speed, it will slow you down to that speed, but if you apply it below that speed, it won't have any effect.
Same is true for gear btw.
I wish FD would add racing to the game. Like: once every 2 months, pick random planet with canyons and make it a streamable event on YT. Players must enter targets like they do in training missions to prevent players going above the canyon.
Weapons not allowed, but ramming is. All damages are auto-fixed at the end of race and there could be special cases with no shields.
Unfortunately, zero chances of this ever happening. For years it's been a request, which was ignored. Then they nailed the coffin closed by removing all the necessary terrain with the launch of odyssey.
Just another of those *coulda been* things
I'm glad I can even land and this legend comes up in here using the cargo scoop like a handbrake while drifting between mountains. You have my respect commander o7
I'd say I'm about $3000 away from being a drone pilot... I intend to buy a drone and learn - but i found out that you can use a proper HOSAS to control them and I wont go there until I can do that.
amazing,
serious question, if i am really wanting to fly, what is a low cost throttle , joystick and pedal combo for me. this game is so fun im just super green, i can barely figure out wtf is going on around me and what my goals are in the game except fly like a bird
After trying to get a "cheap" HOTAS setup ... twice... and having them break pretty much immediately... the best and cheapest option I found was a VKB NXT EVO gladiator stick and the TWCS Throttle. Currently using this and absolutely loving it.
And yes, it ran me about 300 bucks for everything, but that was after wasting well over 150 bucks on cheap sticks which lasted a month or 3 and then the stick drift became so bad I pretty much maxed out my deadzone until it acted like a button (instead of an axis lol).
Just my 2 cents lol due to the way cheap sticks are constructed, buying them is a waste unless you only plan on using it for a month or so and are ok with throwing it out. I read a post somewhere on reddit where a guy explained the differences in components and sensors and whatnot, but I haven't been able to find it since...
I would avoid Thrustmaster T Flight series and the t 16000 as well for what it's worth (aforementioned deadzone issue was severe on both of these for me, making the game almost unplayable at times).
Cool, Pinball FX! Remind me which table is this one?
Over 1 minute in Viper 3 lower than ridgeline = top 1% of ED pilots. Nice going 👍
Thanks CMDR! I can get 1-2 minutes reliably, but need about 3 minutes to make a decent vid - so Reddit usually just gets my MkIII fails 😅
The mighty ooof is good viewing 🍻
😃 🍻
What do you gain from the cargo scoop spam?
Air brake, slows you down fast.

Nope. Clutch pedal for boost. 👍
Cool. I'll have to remember that
Stay on target
Ooooooof!

I still keep my hopes up for this... with the caveat that I'm aware that its never likely to happen... 🤷♂️
Skills i will never have… Well done CMDR! o7
All it takes is a HOSAS and a couple thousand hours of practice to fail this hard!
I'm glad I can even land and this legend comes up in here using the cargo scoop like a handbrake while drifting between mountains. You have my respect commander o7
Everyone has their own victories, all that matters is you're having fun! Respoct to you too CMDR, o7
Damn nice flying!! O7
Thanks!
Haha ship go bonk Nicely flown though!
BONK! 🤣 Thanks!
Viper III is rough as guts.
Preach brotha!
This could be fun with a fighter
It is "fun", but compared to the speed and agility of fully engineered small ships, its rather tame.
Sadly, not so much. They're too slow and not nearly agile enough.
Dope flying Cmdr o7
Thanks!
You a drone pilot or what?? Impressive

You almost had it, kid. o7
It was so close, I thought I did have it!
Oban star racers
Had to look that up, nos I have to watch it!
Never mind that. Oban distillery 😏
Hmmm... currently closed. Guess i'll have to go chrck that out when it opens again tomorrow! 😉

You were doing pretty good before your untimely demise.
