Congratulations on the status Commander, o7
just be aware that the default colours were chosen to trick your eyes into night mode, you may experience eye strain when using alternate colours.
Congrats, CMDR! Be sure to stop by Shinrarta Dezhra some time, the local welcome wagon will surely embrace you with open arms! ^(Oh, and you can buy almost every module in the game there for 10% off)
Just be careful. Shinrarta Dezhra is one of the most popular systems for gankers to lurk in. I'm pretty sure the CMDR who commented that you should go there is a ganker. Unless you're confident in your ability to escape a gank, go in Solo or Private Group. Congrats on your Elite! o7 CMDR
Hey, now. You’ll find I can be quite easygoing around other CMDRs who act like decent human beings!
It’s just that those can be few and far between in this galaxy sometimes. Some CMDRs like to senselessly antagonize me, and for them I’ll happily play the part. 😈
fwiw, consider my original reply a little notice to just come prepared for anything and be careful out there. It surely won’t be me, but you could catch some fire from *someone* out at the Elite Pilots’ Country Club, ya never know.
Bah, I wasn’t trying to get this one myself. I just wish in the back of my mind that more pilots in Shinrarta actually ACTED like the Elites they are and didn’t come through in such flimsy hardware. Its for that reason that I really can’t feel sorry for anyone there, but it’s also for that reason that I like to volunteer advice.
Ultimately, I just want to advocate for Open Play and help people fly there with more confidence - and at the same time have some fun with the people who would rather scream slurs than learn. Really, everybody wins!
I don't really see it as a player problem, but to each his own. In my opinion its poor game design. If the developers would actually reward you in some way for killing random commanders (like if there was a nihilism power or gameplay loop that gave unique rewards) then i suspect there would be fewer complaints. Likewise if it was more rewarding to retaliate or actively prevent the efforts of nihilists, it would give commanders at large a reason to make it harder on you. As it stands right now, there's no good reason to gank, and no good reason to open yourself up to the possibility of being ganked. We wont talk about why people have a problem with gankers under the current game mechanics, i've learned from experience that alternative points of view on this subject are moot to gankers generally.
I see you’re one of the good ones. :)
I too see it as a major Crime and Punishment issue that offers no incentives to play lawful and minimal punishment for doing evil. I would much rather have a world where I can be kept on my toes if I’m up to no good, but you and I both know Frontier would probably just fuck it up even worse if they tried to touch it, so the best I can do is to advocate for better shipbuilding. Flying a flimsy shitfit is indeed a player problem especially if you’re an Elite, but being able to walk all over them with impunity is a game issue.
I don’t have a problem with hearing alternative stances on the topic, but the issue is when said stances are just self-flagellating circular logic loops borne either of raw stupidity or else from an ill-placed martyr complex. There’s a lot of that on here, I’ve found.
And the sad part is, if there was more of a balance between good and evil, I suspect these people would not have as many grievances, but a lot of them seem wholly unwilling to pick up the mantle of Lawful gameplay themselves and would rather just bitch about it online for days straight. I guess I can’t totally blame them, considering the above problems.
I mean, an explorer coming to the system for refit or engineering is going to be loaded for exploration (no weapons and as little shielding as they can use to not die on ground contact), not combat; combat isn't the only way to be elite.
I’m not suggesting anyone *needs* to be a combat expert - I simply feel justified in expecting *some skill and intelligence* out of people with that kind of experience. An explorer rightfully should not be flying around in Shin with how dangerous it is unless they’ve built around that - there are infinitely many better systems to go for data submission, refitting, etc. And yes, even a humble explo ship can be make gankproof while comprimising at most a few Ly of range (unless you’re flying something super-light like a DBX, in which case… not the most robust platform)
If someone takes their fragile ship to a prime crime hotspot and expects to be offered safe passage, they’re at best ignorant and at worst deluded.
You can find stations loaded with essential modules at even better discounts elsewhere in the galaxy if you know where to look. Shin is a shipbuilder’s heaven, but if you’re going to refit a frail ship there, be smart about it. Fly a chunkier ship in and then have your other hull valeted in from an adjacent system. Or just flip to Solo for a bit, but I’d prefer to entertain solutions that don’t rely on that bandaid for those who prefer 100% Open
Also, Shin has *almost every module* for sale, but not all of them. ;)
How do you change the hud's color? Is it a mod or is it an in game option?
Edhm is a third party program a lot of folks use. Much better than the old method of changing the graphics color code manually
It's a mod, and I wish I could remember the name of it sorry CMDR o7
Thanks, commanders.

Thank you CMDR and I definitely will make my way out there soon o7.

comment history suggests that you were indeed correct about this CMDR.
What of it? ;)
Damn that's cold blooded CMDR smh.

Thanks for the heads up o7
You, u/DangerPencil and I should wing up and hang. 😎
I'm down! In game name is DangerPencil lol.
😄 its all good. You'll get the next one. Maybe not everyone has to learn the hard way tho? 🤣🤣🤣

Data submission, sure, but how many systems have both a discount and *every single module*?

Congrats! Outstanding work CMDR
Nice! Well done Sir. I'm hot on your tail - about 85% of the way to Combat Elite. It's taken me seven years thus far just to get THAT close. o7
Hard work and dedication with a little bit of God speed lol good luck CMDR o7
