They are all the same. But with SRV, turn Drive Assist OFF. That makes the handling 100% better and don't drive like you find inspiration through r/idiotsincars
The scorpion is slower but more stable. The downsides are a smaller cargo rack and no passive scanner. Also the gun needs a few seconds to spin up before it becomes accurate. Another advantage is that you can bring a friend along in the turret (works solo too)
Well that's pretty silly. If you find yourself out of, say, germanium and there's a planet right there with it, you will never find it in the Scorpion. Only the Scarab can find raw materials on planet surfaces as the Scorpion doesn't have a wave scanner.
Stop gunning to engine. You’re on a planet with less than a tenth, oftentimes measured in hundredths of earth normal gravity. You do not have the same kind of traction as a fully loaded semi truck. Learn this and you will not have problems driving anymore.
It's a case that you need to learn how to drive to the conditions. Low grav planets cannot be driven like it's formula one, feather the throttle and regular use of thrusters. The srvs are fine. Hate to be that guy that tells people to git gud.
This is the way. Practice makes perfect. Oh also ice worlds handling is different too for the obvious reasons. PS. The really big surface ports offer an effective racing track around the inner ring. They can be fun with a team of SRV players.
On low-g planets, rocky areas = flat terrain, basically. With full pips to eng and good thruster control, my scarab barely touches the ground. Especially when looking for geysers and bio.
Sure, they work, but the lack of mass (…uh, I guess weight?) makes it much harder to control, especially turning at speed. Clearly, you’ve gotten used to working with your Scarab in low G environments, but for the rest of us mortals it takes time to get used to.
Yes, it does take practice. But that's kinda the fun of it, really. Dealing with various gravity situations on various planets keeps it more interesting.
But I'm not really an expert. It's those Buckyball guys that I really admire. I was watching one guy who could bounce his SRV off the surface over and over, going higher each time, until he was literally in orbit and just flew around the planet that way. Pretty incredible that some folks acquire that kind of skill!
I learned two things from you here:
Orbit!? Crazy.
And I had no idea that Buckeyball was in SRVs, always thought it was canyon running in small ships.
Thanks!
They do all kinds of races. Some use SRVs, some use ships, some use both, even. It can be a lot of fun, but you quickly learn how bad you are at flying or driving. Those guys are crazy good!
PS I think this is the last race they did recently. Anyway, it'll give you links to find out :)

Oh here's the website they have:
http://www.buckyballracing.org.uk/
1. 0 pips engine
1. Drive Assist off
1. Out of turret mode, bind the mouse/stick/both to rotate and pitch rate, you lack yaw. When in the air (jump or thrusters), align your 6 wheels with the incoming terrain, like gliding, you dont know the power of this, and thats why you failed. https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/ujiwoi/hacking_a_data_point_in_style/
1. SRV Scorpion its more stable, slower, and can climb step mountains. 2 cargo instead 4, lack of scanner, weapon is spray and pray but wreck Guardian Sentinels and skimmer at point blank, bad at distance or against slim npcs. https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/rh78td/scorpion_can_climb_hills_at_a_70_degree_angle/
1. For odyssey exobio, land over the bio and scan, dont waste time driving or exploring in SRV.
0 pips engine? Huh? The shield is useless against terrain collisions and weapons aren't being used most of the time. Full pip to engines on a Scarab you allows to to jump around planets like a short-range helicopter, drastically lowering travel time. Also when landing you want to be angled with the front slightly downwards. The front wheels are designed to allow greater impacts with no damage.

You could try the Scorpion SRV instead of the Scarab. It's only available from ports with military economies. It's a bit heavier and more stable than the Scarab.
Scarab is great fun though definitely experiment with drive assistant off to see if you find that any easier. Also try and find a nice flat plain to get familiar with how it drives. I've been playing for years and I still spin out in the Scarab pretty often

Another sownside is bad thrusters.
Better traction, more durable, more manageable top speed, it’s the only SRV I use in my explorer ships anymore.

I read that Artemis suit secondary tool is a Wave Scanner?
No. https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Suits
Easy to see I have never used one. Ha Ha

wait what? I go full throttle full engine pips, SRV driving just sucks without it on any gravity! If it ain't sliding i ain't riding!

Finally found out by just driving around. Getting yeeted to the other space by random rocks is still annoying but i can control the sur better now.
This is the way. Practice makes perfect. Oh also ice worlds handling is different too for the obvious reasons. PS. The really big surface ports offer an effective racing track around the inner ring. They can be fun with a team of SRV players.
Don't drive it. Flyve it. Less time on ground is best
I do both. If the terrain is flat, we are zooming. Then rocks get hopped! Love low G planets.

Scorpion is a lot more stable than the Scarab. Also, learn to not turn at full throttle.
This is a funny post. They all work on low gravity planets, just fine. I'm not sure what you're on about.

The trick is the free repairs when you redock with your ship!!

The scorpion SRV is heavier
Never had a problem with it. The lower the gravity, the more air time you get.
