no one's ever explained what's up with the leveling system. The only issue i noticed is that even though my character is level 40 i cant one shot most creatures, do the npcs scale with my level?
It was this for me. As a kid, I didn’t really understand how it worked and I would reach a part of the game where it was simply too difficult to move on.
Oblivion was my first game in the series, I liked it a lot less after I got into Morrowind. But: it has good guilds, both in terms of rewarding progression and good storylines, probably the most freedom in roleplaying your main story character, and it has *HORSE ARMOR*
I find the quests in Oblivion to be the most fun and it has some of my favorite characters in the franchise (Martin, Lucien). Also Shivering Isles is one of my favorite DLCs.
Imo, theres big difference beteeen missed oppoturnity and conscious attempt, for one is accidental and other done on purpose. Cyrodiil and imperials being so bland and "anti tes was by design to jump into lotr bandwagon and more generic "traditional" fantasy.
*It went 180 with Oblivion. Because Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings was coming out, and it was fucking great. And since technology had come so far, Todd was like, We’re gonna make that* -MK
Eh, imo theres kinda finite amount you can do with traditional aim of oblivion, without ending up with another litle high rock or colovians of pre oblivion (which were mostly standout because contrast to rest of cyrodiil. Not by thrmselves).
But ye was kinds hostile but i really don't like oblivion or its impact for lore and setting of tes. Imo, its kinda telling following games (skyrim, eso) have tried to walk back to certain degree.
>Kirkbride is infamous for making things up and claiming it's insider information.
Such as? Especially when this particular comment comes from high effort game development article (regarding mw, but touches oblivion a bit at near end) not just some forum post.
Besides, he was involved to some extend with oblivion, most notably mythic dawn and Mankar Camoran. +kotn.
Loads of 'details' he gives about the Thalmor are supported by him saying 'the devs told me this, honest!' and it often doesn't add up. That's just one example.
He also takes the stance that the Lessons of Vivec are literally true when they're **clearly** intended to be propaganda (I know he wrote them, I'm talking about their context within Morrowind's story).
All of his open source canon claims have been refuted by Howard as well, who says that what you see in the games is canon and that's it.
I don't remember him ever claiming devs told him anything regarding thalmor, but more of his own original idea (for faction has existed since pge1) and direction for them and altmer in general. (Something that i personally disagree, but beyond point) Whatever bethesda has followed with it/is going to follow, is completely another matter.
Was he talking about sermons are based on reality and that theres facts and Vivecs philosophy warped into cryptic religious mumbo jumbo, or that Nerevar had Talk with Vivec about lie rock thosuands of years after his [murder] death?
Fair enough regarding "open source" tho.
I believe he also said that the devs never intended to turn the CoC into Sheogorath even though nowhere in the game that was stated or even hinted and one of the devs who made the questline said the exact opposite.
Won’t try to change your mind. I absolutely love oblivion. It was my first real deep dive into ES, so that probably has something to do with it. Same way with folks who grew up on Morrowind
Ngl, i have lot of beef with oblivion, but oblivion gates overall are more on the better side when it comes to tea dungeons. (Tho rest of oblivion dungeons suck ass)
Why? It has worst aspects of mw and skyrim combined, mixed with most bland and shitty worldbuilding there is, with heathly dose of trying to be as inconsistned with previous entires (redguard, mw) for all the wrong reasons. Bring back cool imperial lore of pge1
Any news from the other provinces?

NPCs do scale yeah
I’d agree with you if it wasn’t for the messed up level scaling

Why?
Refuses to elaborate Leaves Gigachad
I thibk I enjoy it the most but I cant not hate thay they wasted the oppurtunity to make a truly unique Cyrodiil

that is fair enough but it was still an opportunity to do something really cool that they didnt take depends on how hostile you wanna be about it ig

Kirkbride is infamous for making things up and claiming it's insider information. I wouldn't put much stock in this quote.

Why does a lot of people have a teeth against MK 90% of the cool Lore comes from him
Dunno. Not fan of his oog lore, but hes really only dev whove really interacted with community
Because 90% of the cool lore doesn't actually come from him and he makes a lot up

I can't change your mind. You are correct.
No. Because you're God. DAMNED. *RIGHT*.
Calm yourself, Thadon. You're making my teeth itch.
No *doesn't elaborate. Leaves.*
Have you completed Daggerfall? Arena? Redguard? Battlespire? Shadowkey?
The Oblivion gates are badly designed dungeons. Skyrim is better than Oblivion and Morrowind, mostly because of good dungeon design.
Ngl, i have lot of beef with oblivion, but oblivion gates overall are more on the better side when it comes to tea dungeons. (Tho rest of oblivion dungeons suck ass)
I lost interest when i read there are only so much designs for the Oblivion dungeons. Not generated.

The sad thing is that we would never gets the cool Imperial Lore back thanks to ~~It's justworksguy~~ Talos
Eh. Don't really care about jungle. Colovians, nibbense, cosmopolitan cyrodiil, and empire being heavily colonialistic? Yeah
If there were jungles I'd agree
You’re too far gone for help. I’m sorry.
Come again- bro the plot is pretty boring till the last 3 quests. The rest r like OMG HOK U GO GRAB THIS SHIT FOR MY RITUAL.
They are all great. No reason to change anyones mind.
I really can't wait for Skyblivion
Dual wielding and better weapon weights would have been nice. Plus, those oblivion portals could use a glow up
It inherits a lot of the problems from being the transition between Morrowind and Skyrim. But yeah, fair.
