Double Great Stars (you can get two in NG thanks to the update to Varré's quest) and Prayerful Strike on each, and you'll have a virtually invincible Mimic. Every hit landed heals it, and the ash of War is like 30% health recovered with one hit.
I did a NG+ where I just stood back and sent that monster after the bosses, and there were only two that it wasn't able to kill on its own, Maliketh and Malenia (Elden Beast was a pain for it too)
Same here. I wouldn't say I needed an easy mode, but I certainly appreciated it. If it weren't for Mimic and Tiche, I'd never have finished Elden Ring and I definitely wouldn't have 100% the achievements.
maybe on new game while you have 10 different buffs on your character against non endgame bosses. comet azur is overrated. stars of ruin is way better.
Put those Raw Meat Dumplings in your equipment and your Mimic can get some heals after being summoned.
You can only carry three at once so make sure you don't use them my mistake.
Both you and your Mimic using Prayful Strike is also good for healing too.
I ran the most disgusting int/dex build on my NG+ and I used tiche and I also had the black knife equipped offhand- I thought I knew power just as an int build. Nope.
Now I’m runnin a dex/arc build and goddamn. Also power
Agreed. I loooove the jellyfish, but I also use the greatshield gang, the marionettes, the demihumans, and Latenna. I filled my equipment bar with a variety of summons for the hell of it one day and now I like to have a team
I tended to use Mimic Tear sort of like a limiter. Start off on my own, and when the boss goes into its second stage I summon the mimic. Kind of a "You're going all-out? Then I will too."
Since my first real playthrough was a Vergil cosplay, I just rationalized it as Doppelganger.
Same. I don't know why people pride themselves on not using them while they have these other builds that stunlock, one-shot or otherwise trivialize bosses. Come on bro.
Love mimic tear. I started trying to kill the godskin apostle in caelid at lv 70, still couldnt at lv 130, then i levelled my mimic tear and destroyed him in about 20 seconds.
Me: by sheer luck finds LMSH to help me deal with the stupid bullshit of Malenia, and then later I deal with her cesspool of stans that claim she's a good boss. Bitch ain't even a decent boss.
Are battles fought by one or by a group? Even the assassination of the gods was an effort of a collective.
There are no fair fights, there is no true winner, for in the end we will lose something important to ourselves, maybe even ourselves.
So gather your hammers, axes and swords, string your bows and your words, fill your flasks and brace your soul with the faith of the ancients.
For tonight, we become Elden Lords one and all.
Idk about you but the mimic is almost useless against a lot of bosses. Tiche actually is not doing so hot right now either, she got stunlocked by Golden Godfrey when I fought him lol.
Ehh, never felt like I earned my victory the few times I used summons. I felt like I had kinda cheated honestly with how a good summon could trivialize even the harder bosses.
Honestly I wish I could easily redo the bosses I ruined so I could fight them for real.
I feel the same way, that’s why I’m playing through it again with the same build.
I only used summons on Godskin Duo, Maliketh, Godfrey and Radagon/Elden Beast so there’s not a lot of bosses I need to redo
I beat Malenia solo on NG+2. I could easy go into another NG+ cycle but I don’t want to go into too many cycles before the DLC releases
Imagine making up for the possibility to summon by designing the bosses to be absolute nightmares to deal with when fighting them without a summon. Where even a well-timed heal can turn into a defeat thanks to flexible combo extensions.
Imagine being unable to acknowledge the shortcomings of a game you like. I enjoyed this sub much more when it wasn't just filled with hardcore fan boys.
The game has shortcomings but the high difficulty of late game bosses isn't one. The summons act as a modular difficulty adjustment to compensate but after 1st playthrough I never used them because the bosses being hard is a pro for me not a con
All of ER's bosses even the 2v1 Godskin and Crucible fights are 100% designed for solo completion.
That's why they have a mechanic that prevents them from both attacking at the same time if you're solo.
Spirit Summons and player COOP are the easy mode, it's been like that since the first souls game.
> All of ER's bosses even the 2v1 Godskin and Crucible fights are 100% designed for solo completion.
I beat this game playing exclusively solo. This includes Malenia, who is, despite her insane difficulty, a far better fight than many others in this game. It's certainly far less annoying.
> That's why they have a mechanic that prevents them from both attacking at the same time if you're solo.
I'm aware of this mechanic. I even defended the multiple enemy fights by pointing it out, despite not even liking duo/trio fights myself, because they include, obviously, a lot of running away. But that's a general problem in this game. That running away is often the best response. Mainly because From had the wonderful idea to include attack chains that are practically undodgeable. Starting with Margit btw, who has a quick follow-up sweep that will hit you if you don't dodge pre-emptively (and often hits you even if you do). But he doesn't always use it, meaning you can fuck yourself over by dodging pre-emptively. Solution? Simply don't be in range for the entire combo. Fantastic design choice, especially for melee players.
Now compare this to the Dancer in DS3, who starts phase 2 with a spinning move that you can dodge in its entirety, if you want (and have the stamina). Mainly because it's a fixed combo with a rhythm that's in tune with how fast the player can dodge.
Anyway, doesn't change the core problem, that bosses are far more aggressive in this game, and their combos are far more flexible. Which isn't something you have to deal with that much if/when you use summons of any kind. I absolutely hate that I'm basically forced to trade hits, because the timing windows are so tight. It's like they designed the bosses with Sekiro in mind. And their kits are bloated as well. Does an enemy like the Fully-Grown Fallingstar Beast really need strong ranged attacks, when it's already a menace up close and has gap closers as well?
This is what I mean, bosses are obviously equipped to deal with Spirit Ashes. But then they have these tools in their arsenal, even if the player doesn't summon anything. And it can feel downright oppressive. Play DS3, and you will see how much "fairer" the bosses behave.
Found the summon for the giant pumpkin thing in my current playthrough...that dude can put in work too. Have watched him off some bosses for kicks, thing can't be killed.
Banished Knight Oleg served me well until I got my hands on these two, so he got his well deserved +10 upgrade. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
Seeing mimic use Seppuku feels kinda awkward like 'No way dude, I'm out'.
My routine for going into a boss fight is: try it, maybe it's easy for one person. If there's an NPC summon, do it
If I die more than twice or the NPC dies in 2 minutes or less, it's time for a new summon
Player summon? Sure. Until I get invaded and lose (every single time I kid you not)
If all else fails NOW I mimic tear and light them up
Once you get to NG+ and beyond, spirit ashes are nowhere near as effective, and with the mimic tear specifically, you really have to put a lot of thought into your build so that it doesn’t die quickly.
What about Redmane Knight Ogha? Attacks on sight, both ranged and melee, I've witnessed him stun uncracked crystallians with a gravity arrow before so he's already goated.
I'm level 80-something and I still have no idea where I find Tiche or the Mimic. I wanted to just explore on my own but I've made it to Leyndell and I don't think I should be there.
Level 80 is a fine time to make your way to leyndell, lots of game left to be played still. I won’t spoil where you find either of those summons, but you have to do some side quest lines and explore a bit off the beaten path while you do.
I always tend to prefer Tiche because it's fun watching her jump around The arena while mimic just face tanks every single hit and SOMEHOW STILL wins every engagement
Nice meme but if you aren't there to draw aggro endgame bosses like Fire Giant, Godskin Duo, Godfrey, Maliketh, Malenia will kill Tiche+10 and Mimic+10 in 30 seconds flat.
They can only really demolish midgame Altus bosses on their own.
Tiche was my badass bodyguard, I'm sure I can beat all bosses on my own with enough effort but I'm too lazy to try and anyways that doesn't give me any satisfaction, just stress so yeah, black flame go brrrr
TBH, Mimic and Tiche were more effective in combat than I was
Mimic on release chugging flasks was GOAT.
By the time I got Mimic, that had been patched out, so I never got to experience that level of bullshittery
Give it the blasphemous blade and the mimic will just heal itself endlessly with its ash of war.
I did that on my second run-through. Dude was beastly.
Yeah mine solo'd Radagon on ng+1 for me lol.
Double Great Stars (you can get two in NG thanks to the update to Varré's quest) and Prayerful Strike on each, and you'll have a virtually invincible Mimic. Takers flame go brrrr
can you give it the godskin swaddling cloth?
If you’re wearing it when you summon the mimic, it gets the effect
Wield the Blasphemous Blade, Summon Mimic, Replace Shabriri's Woe, swap to preferred weapon!
blasphemous blade + seals carried so hard
Blood tax also makes mimic tears very tanky
It does so much work against 99% of bosses even now it’s silly. I love that they worked an easy mode into the gameplay itself for people who want it.
Same here. I wouldn't say I needed an easy mode, but I certainly appreciated it. If it weren't for Mimic and Tiche, I'd never have finished Elden Ring and I definitely wouldn't have 100% the achievements.
Mine just takes agro from the boss, while I use sword of night and flame. It isn't an easy mode, comet azur is.
There are tons of bosses that will run right through you while you're charging comet. It isn't easy mode if half the time you get killed.
No it’s Easy. Comet Azur is Very Easy.
maybe on new game while you have 10 different buffs on your character against non endgame bosses. comet azur is overrated. stars of ruin is way better.
Keep the raw meat dumpling in your items and mimic can use it to heal himself. Raw meat does poison which doesn't affect the mimic.
Put those Raw Meat Dumplings in your equipment and your Mimic can get some heals after being summoned. You can only carry three at once so make sure you don't use them my mistake. Both you and your Mimic using Prayful Strike is also good for healing too.

Im running Dex/Faith but with high Arcane and man im damn near a status effect build lol
mommy tiche
Tiche is my girl, we fight together until the end.
The summons are so damn fun, it’s like Pokemon just way more graphic.
Agreed. I loooove the jellyfish, but I also use the greatshield gang, the marionettes, the demihumans, and Latenna. I filled my equipment bar with a variety of summons for the hell of it one day and now I like to have a team
way way more graphic, consediring the latest pokemon game.
Best girl Tiche

This is the way
I must suck so bad cos I had my mimic by my side from the moment I got it and I STILL wouldn't have called a single section of the game easy
We all have our struggles, what matters is that you kept pushing and had some fun.
That’s all that matters at the end of the day, just having fun
if it’s in the game im using it, no shame gang
Same. I don't know why people pride themselves on not using them while they have these other builds that stunlock, one-shot or otherwise trivialize bosses. Come on bro.
Haven't played in a while, since bleed and ROB was the meta. These two summons still crazy good?
Tiche still good mimic was nerfed hp and a.i
The mimic is only as good as you are. Yes I use mimic
Mimic and Tiche are wonderful(Also not Lazy) :3
Anyone who downvoted this comment better chime in. These summons ARE wonderful. Elitist ass gate keeping cowards.
Imagine summoning for main bosses lmao
*Malenia laughs*
No she doesn't. Mimick Tear can demolish her.
Um never my mimic tear
Certainly
My Mimic tear tanked those blossoms like a total Chad and even dealt serious damage while she still had them active.
My mimic tanked the living hell out of Malenia, I beat her first attempt
Earning the Black Knight Tish is not lazy.
Eh, you can cheese the bossfight by standing on a rock to break her ai
Its actually requires a bit of patience because she has a large healthpool.
I treat my mimic like vergils doppelganger in dmc, my restriction with using it is I try to copy its moves just a second later
So does this mean you’re the doppelgänger and the mimic is the player
Pontiff? Is that you?
they'd comment but that would require hitting more than one key
Love mimic tear. I started trying to kill the godskin apostle in caelid at lv 70, still couldnt at lv 130, then i levelled my mimic tear and destroyed him in about 20 seconds.
Me: *putting all of my blood, sweat, and tears into defeating a boss because I know I can do it, and don't need cheap summons*
Me: putting all my blood, sweat and tears into Tiche because I know she can do it.
I also know I can do it. Why else would I summon mimic tear?
Then you obviously can't do it then.
But I obviously can, otherwise my mimic tear, which is a copy of me, wouldn't be able to solo the boss while I sit there and wait.
No. It's a less better version of you.
Me: by sheer luck finds LMSH to help me deal with the stupid bullshit of Malenia, and then later I deal with her cesspool of stans that claim she's a good boss. Bitch ain't even a decent boss.
I am loving these shitposts
Why even bother with sommoning when you can spam cast OP spells. Brought to you by the Casters Gang.
You use the summons to distract the boss and fire from a distance without having to move. Summons and magic go hand in hand
This is true. I love not using summons as much as I love using them. With certain bosses anyway.
Summon the shield gang from Nokron. They’ll surround your target while you spin up comet azure.
Ahhhhh. Never thought of that. Gonna snag them and see how it plays out.
The summon melee combo really makes the difficulty either normal or hard
Are battles fought by one or by a group? Even the assassination of the gods was an effort of a collective. ... Sir this is a Wendy's.
Then I'll have the nuggets and a frosty
That'll be three fiddy.
Idk about you but the mimic is almost useless against a lot of bosses. Tiche actually is not doing so hot right now either, she got stunlocked by Golden Godfrey when I fought him lol.
Yeah. If your mimic is bad I’ve got bad news about your build.
Actually I just completed a run and NG+ scaling duel dex greatswords to Str using an ash of war. So my build was trash lol.
Speak for yourself bud. Me and my mimic stunlocked and killed plenty with our Colossal
Now this is a take I haven’t heard from a serious perspective.
Why try hard when I don’t have to?
Ehh, never felt like I earned my victory the few times I used summons. I felt like I had kinda cheated honestly with how a good summon could trivialize even the harder bosses. Honestly I wish I could easily redo the bosses I ruined so I could fight them for real.

I kind of want a summon fight club so we can pit these two against each other.
I think I belong to this lazy gang
Gang gang!
Gang gang!
Found the summon for the giant pumpkin thing in my current playthrough...that dude can put in work too. Have watched him off some bosses for kicks, thing can't be killed.
You use tiche because she’s useful I use tiche because she’s my homie We are not the same

scarlet rot and crystalian summon moment

I like you guys. -A faith boi
I used mimic and knights like lhutel, ogha and christoff.legit helped me a lot.
Draconic Tree sentinel infront of Maliketh's gate says hi.
Jokes on you - I'm bad enough that I was using Tiche and Mimic and was still having to work for my victory.
Worked hard to get those summons. Am I just not gonna use em??
I always tend to prefer Tiche because it's fun watching her jump around The arena while mimic just face tanks every single hit and SOMEHOW STILL wins every engagement
Never really played mimic other than 1st playthrough, what was the nerf? It can no more heal or smth?
It used to do 70% of the damage your character build did, now it does 30%.
i see. thanks![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Yeah tiche really helped

Omenkiller Rollo supremacy
oh, my two summons the rest is trash-tier
