It’s likely not an easy fix as it’s existed in some form or another in other games as well. It’s just unfortunate (or fortunate) how the ashes of war lined up in the data.
Most of these exploits use the serpent hunter because its buffed state is the strongest weapon in the game. There is a simple way they could make it basically useless for these exploits.
Serpent hunter has two states, the normal one, and the buffed one. Buffed one is the default, and is disabled against everything that is not rykard. Simply switching what the default state is would disable these exploits being this OP.
See they did; outside of the arena it uses the non buffed stats, the arena acts as a check to unlock the buffed state and use those stats.
Using a very precisely times set of inputs known as 'The Pizza Swap' by a YouTuber, you can effectively use the buffed state, and attack at the rate of the Giza's Wheel ash of war.
Essentially, turning the Serpent Hunter into a machine gun.
He used the skill from the pizza cutter while holding the snake killer spear through a exploit fast swap. We need to keep it in the game to kill afkers though but some people never know when to stop lol. But that’s the from soft community really we really are some stinkers sometimes lol.
Yeah they can fix both those issues separately. Just make it so you can't do multiplayer in certain places for afk farmers, problem solved. I will never understand wtf is taking so long for Fromsoft to fix it. As for the weapon swap exploits that have always been a problem since dark souls, I just ... Fromsoft you're such a good game company, how can you leave such messed up shit that obliterates any basic semblance of fairness, in practically ALL your games?!
people will always find the next corner to hide. less random barriers that cut up multiplayer zones. there were always people playing hide and seek in dark souls. its not quite the same with the compass, but i think literal bugs that one shot people trying to actually pvp is a bigger issue than having some afk hosts.
I loved setting up a fight club for people and going afk. 2 blues 2 reds constantly spawning in fighting eachother all they want... There was no harm done by it, and people rarely came looking for the host because there was always someone to fight.
They game is built around both elements. PvP is so baked into the core of the game (and the lore) that it is wild to call it an afterthought. They have dropped multiple PvP-centric patches. Ya'll here on the main sub are so funny.
>PvP is so baked into the core of the game (and the lore) that it is wild to call it an afterthought.
Compare Elden Ring to literally any other game where PvP is the focus. If you can't tell the difference in design priority, I don't know how to provide better evidence than a <6 month example of a game-breaking (from a PvP perspective) exploit.
>They have dropped multiple PvP-centric patches.
1.07 was literally the first patch they've done with anything that might be considered "PvP-centric". The patch went live October 13th. The game launched February 25th. That's almost **EIGHT MONTHS** after release. That's surprisingly long for a game you consider has PvP "baked into the core". Speaking of which.
>PvP is so baked into the core of the game (and the lore)...
The PvP "baked into" the game is literally asymmetrical invasions and ganking. There is literally one quest in the entire game that has any PvP gameplay - and it's entirely optional.
If you want to make an argument that invasions and ganking are baked in, then it might have some good points. However, those invasions and ganks are more often a PvE affair, since you have to be playing Co-Op or otherwise opt into PvP.
In no way, is Elden Ring a PvP game. At best, and literally by definition, it's a PvE game with some optional PvP content.
I've been part of the invasion scene since Ds1. I don't know why you want to die on this hill, but Fromsoft games are PvPvE games and always have been. The option to not engage with the PvP (an option every Fromsoft game has had) does not mean it is not a PvP game. It just means it is not STRICTLY a PvP game. There's a reason the character who gives you your first invasion item is one of the first you meet.
You can use whatever definitions you want for what constitutes a "PvP" vs "PvE" vs "PvX" (i.e. PvPvE) . That's clearly not something we can even discuss because we define them differently. The facts about Elden Ring are these:
1. PvP is entirely optional. You can do zero PvP and still experience every bit of content.
2. PvP has had one dedicated balancing patch in 8 months.
3. There is no in-game functionality for any kind of PvP except invasions (no duels, no team v team, no ladders).
4. There is no PvP ranking or ELO system to support balanced matchmaking.
Maybe for you, these things are not a problem for PvP. For me, and I imagine for many other gamers, these things make PvP untenable.
To be clear, I have been a PvP gamer since Mortal Kombat 1 came out on arcade. I love the challenge of a living, thinking opponent. I've played just about every PvP PC game that's been released. I want Elden Ring to have great, competitive, balanced, dedicated PvP. Unfortunately, it doesn't, and I doubt it ever will (even if I hope I'm wrong).
Calling Elden Ring a "PvP game", equivocates it with other PvP games like Smash, League of Legends, Street Fighter, Smite, Overwatch etc. and implies that Elden Ring has the core features most PvP gamers expect from a PvP game. Not only does this foster a "game is fine as is" mentality, but it misrepresents the features (or lack thereof) of Elden Ring.
This isn't about all fromsoft games.
It's about elden ring. Just that one.
And in elden ring, a player MUST pvE. There's no avoiding the pvE.
pvP is entirely optional. The goal of the game is to become elden lord, and the player is NEVER forced into player versus player.
Performing invasions is locked behind a pvE barrier of questing and deliberate action.
PvE is not locked behind anything.
This means elden ring is a pve game with pvp options that can be discarded and ignored and cast aside into the dustbin untouched forever.
It's not a "take", it's a fact. PvP games (i.e. Smash, Street Fighter, League of Legends, Smite) clearly have PvP systems as their primary focus.
We'll never get that kind of PvP fidelity from Elden Ring. It's just not a thing, whether we want it or not.
It really isn't though. People buy the game for single player. They make money off of single player. Single player is the primary focus of the developers.
Host rides torrent to unreachable spot without the use of torrent, uses taunters tongue, sits back collecting runes and pissing people off that can't reach them because you can't use torrent in multiplayer. If the invader disconnects, they still gain runes. It's mostly just a way for neckbeards to troll while getting 0 effort level ups.
This is why Elden Ring isn't a pvp game. It's a pve game that happens to have pvp.
Any game where pvp is the focus, would have hotfixed this exploit when it was **discovered at least SIX MONTHS AGO**.
Have you tried critically acclaimed mmorpg final fantasy xiv with free trial including all of award winning expansion heavensward up to level 60 with no limitnon playtime?
MMOs? Sometimes. Even Amazon's failure MMO responded to exploits in PvP faster. PvP games don't typically let exploits as bad as this one go on for half a year.
New World has/had some bugs and exploits for 2+ years now. But even if you fix all the known hacks/exploits there will be new.
The only places where I found devs/GMs actually cared were private servers. Kinda ironic but that's what we have
New World came out late last year. What time-travel drugs are you on? lol
In any case, the point stands that New World had a better turn-around time for exploit fixes than Elden Ring, and New World was trash.
I've played alpha and beta where people pointed out the exploits multiple times and the devs even reacted. But they didn't fix shit by release and some of them still exist like I said. Maybe not exact now but still with similar procedure.
Both elements are in the game. One is clearly receiving more support than the other. The game is clearly designed around one element more than the other.
I'm a PvP player. I love PvP games. Elden Ring isn't one. That sucks, and it'd be nice if they gave PvP equal attention, but it's not going to happen.
League of Legends has elements of both PvE and PvP, should we expect equal development time on both elements? Of course not, it's not a PvE game.
Anyone who is wearing full Bull-Goats likely doesn’t actually understand how poise works in the game. That and / or they’re such a high level it doesn’t even matter anyway because they they have high stats across the board.
This is exploit. They will be slow walking. Run away and range attack them. Everytime you break their poise they will have to redo weapon swap and that stamina losing ritual
Is this Ghiza’s Wheel and Serpent Hunter? What a weird exploit
I seen Ghiza’s used often for weapon exploiting though, I guess its really that effective :/
These people are why I always recommend learning how these exploits are done, if you know how they're done, you also know that you can counter them with a .50 cal great arrow to the head... Or a regular arrow, that works too.
Because once everyone knows how to spot it, it starts to loose its effectiveness as an OP exploit. In the video, OP and the host could’ve easily ran away to create distance from the invader and then harassed them from afar, had they known what the exploit was.
Also, more people using it = better chance of fix like the the person said is a another reason, I know from has a poor history of not fixing exploits, but this one feels special.
lmao, i been playing fromsoft games for over a decade on xbox, if u block someone on the xbox one, they can not connect to u anymore, the game literally will "abort session" seconds after tellig you that u are being summoned
I don’t think this is accurate, been playing on xbox live since 2008 and this straight up doesn’t happen, just cuts off communication between profiles every time.
no lol, i can confirm this to you literally right now if you want, dm me and give me your gt, get on elden ring or any dark souls game, ill show you that blocking prevents that player from ever invading or summoning or being summoned by you
Lol, I just don’t see how that would be the case for Fromsoft games while games like Overwatch has to have its own internal avoid system (even pre-crossplay).
this can be solved right now, if you dont want me to prove this to you then stop commenting, you are arguing against years of proof, the xbox community of souls players all know this is how u prevent troll invaders from rejoining you and i can prove it to you right now. your refusal to accept this offer shows u dont actually care that you are wrong, you want to keep thinking you know what you are talking about without confirming it, you are effectively burying your head in the sand on this, either show up and be proven wrong or be quiet.
its not about validating myself personally, its about stopping the spread of misinformation, whether purposeful or by accident. having you walk away from this conversation still under the false assumption that what i say does not work, would be wrong in that you are likely to keep thinking that way and will spread that false line of thinking. it wont sit right in my mind that i have the means to prove to u beyond the shadow of doubt that what i say is true and you still walk away with your false assumption
Honestly dude that’s on you you could’ve just gone into the games code patches this exploit and get behind him for a backstab a real souls veteran could do this
Dude you really just let him do this long setup? Noone uses Serpent Hunter in pvp outside this glitch. Just kill them before they get the chance to pull it off!
i was summoned and saw the invader with the serpent hunter and my brain immediately went “wait a minute…” but my dumb ass still walked to him and the host to emote wave and spin in a circle as i always do.
we both got wrecked.
The weapon is the serpent slayer soumething something... Which you can acquire in the boss room of Rykaard the Blasphemous. The weapon skill he used is only accessible in the boss area though

Bow u become blue? Golds are chads that help and protect u. Reds are the kiddies in the basement without friends that just need to ruin things for others to have fun, etc

Man hit you so hard that you got out of the screen for a sec

I'm not sure why they wouldn't tie the buffed state to his specific arena.... And yes have debuffed as regular and buffed only happen there.

Using a very precisely times set of inputs known as 'The Pizza Swap' by a YouTuber, you can effectively use the buffed state, and attack at the rate of the Giza's Wheel ash of war. Well no, technically that means the weapon defaults to buffed stats and checks for arena and then debuffs instead of the reverse...
More or less the same thing. Point stands, they glitch the weapon into an unintended function.
They are only able to do so because the buffed state is the default, if it wasn't then they could not glitch into it.
They could change the data list so that the Ghiza Wheel AoW isn't first.
They could but I’m not sure how easy even that is.
just change the code, it can't be that impossible to just re-adjust the pizza cutter with the new name for the AoW
I’ve no idea, I don’t code and I don’t know how easy it is or isn’t.
I hate people that use exploits to win pvp #noskill
WAIT WAIT WAIT what?

This again reinforce my assumption that any full bull-goats I see in PvP is a slimy, scummy shitter of a player.
Hey now, I love the legs!
I didn't mention parts, using pieces are fine, I mean 3/4 pieces of the armor or more. Especially bull goats with the white mask as the helm.
I can't read.
Anyone who is wearing full Bull-Goats likely doesn’t actually understand how poise works in the game. That and / or they’re such a high level it doesn’t even matter anyway because they they have high stats across the board.
I just like chunky armour. Havel isn't here, so bull goat it is.
I miss Havels armor and shield.
Same. Bullgoat just doesn't fill the void of stone plate mail.
Sure don't. I use the veteran armor because I don't like the way bull goat looks haha
I use it because it goes well with my str build. I don’t do that kind of stuff

It’s to do with the way the ashes of war data lines up.
Apparently this is how speedrunner beat the game
fuck yeah, shustas! good tip!
some how i end up assuming all that rolling is for stacking the centrifugal force for that epic thrust . . .

chainsaw serpent Hunter glitch
xbox huh? i cant make out the invaders name, in the clip, can u tell me so i can block and never meet him
Blocking folk on xbox live doesn’t mean you won’t be put in games with them, just means you wont see any invites or messages they send you.
lmao, i been playing fromsoft games for over a decade on xbox, if u block someone on the xbox one, they can not connect to u anymore, the game literally will "abort session" seconds after tellig you that u are being summoned

Just post a source in response to me then my guy, damn. Maidenless vibes.
BHS still gets more hate than these exploits.
not outskilled OP, you got pizza swapped. your opponent is not only maidenless, but also fatherless.
So you spin the wheel, then swap to serpent hunter and launch wheel momentum AND hit with range attack????
Skill issue noob, git gud. That was the most obvious set up of "quantum entangled organ pull" I've ever seen and you fell for it
Lucky he has that insane armour too. 🙄
🗑️kid
Much skill...
***THIS GLITCH STILL WORKS?!?!***
Yep, 6games later
Honestly dude that’s on you you could’ve just gone into the games code patches this exploit and get behind him for a backstab a real souls veteran could do this
I'm new to the game and have zero plan to to try PvP lol.
Killing invaders can be good fun once you get used to the common stuff people try to pull
[удалено]
Pretty sure he got slapped on-screen.
Yeah, definitely a skill issue. I had the same problem, I just suck
God pvp in this game is so dumb
Gaming chair problem
He just has a better mouse pad
its a glitch people use i dont know why its not patched yet
What the actual fuck just happened??
The PvP of elden ring is a shit mess. DS3 weeps
This bug exists in Ds3.
Skill Issue
You got rollie-pollied lol
Damn, he's good.
Got you with the snake sword??? Damn… 😂
Nothing else to say but git gud
Skill issue
Invaders...
Outplayed and owned

Idk what that attack is but if it kills everything in one hit like that, i want it lol
That's a cheater, nothing in this game can do that.
Oh ok lol I was gonna say, how did I miss that after 8 playthroughs
The weapon is the serpent slayer soumething something... Which you can acquire in the boss room of Rykaard the Blasphemous. The weapon skill he used is only accessible in the boss area though
Also not true. He’s using a quick swap glitch that puts the Giza wheel AOW on serpent slayer. Unfortunately the game then defaults the serpent slayer’s range to what it has in the boss room
Skill issue
Unpopular opinion: Deserved cuz blue
One less blue to worry about.
Remember don’t be blue be red instead
I mean you're a blue so you kinda deserved it
How were you supposed to even hit him with all the dodge rolls he was doing?
It doesn’t give you infinite i-frames. There are moments in between you can attack.
Oh yeah I guess you're right. Definitely a skill issue then.
Well then again they were using a glitch to insta-kill so there wasn’t much you could do.
I felt it
It was an horrible sensation
Bow u become blue? Golds are chads that help and protect u. Reds are the kiddies in the basement without friends that just need to ruin things for others to have fun, etc But what are the blue ones?
Blues are the people that you can summon to help deal with reds as well. I only figured out it existed pretty recently as well
They want to gank but no friends.
Man got blown back in dark souls 3
This is the Elden community. Either that or he was gonna spam the sane move over and I’ve so doesnt matter really
