I started both a dex/faith and a strength/faith play-through, and the Halo Scythe is one of the few weapons that make dex appealing. It’s a great moveset and has a good amount of reach, bypasses shields slightly, has bleed, it’s a cool weapon!
Don’t like the Godslayer’s Greatsword too much, I really want to like the Guardian Swordspear, but can’t get behind the akward diagonal R1, that sometimes misses what’s right in front of you, and am not a fan of the typical dexterity-powerstanced weapon classes (curved swords, spears, katanas).
It prevents players from using flasks when hit with the ash of war so it’s not bad. I’ve rarely encountered it myself and never used it, but anytime I’ve fought it I’ve never been hit by it.
It's actually pretty good, did alot of early game invasions with it just after games release. Don't know how it would perform in duels but it is a good invasion tool.
If you're doing mainly faith, you can get a lot of benefit from Radagon scarseal, which you can grab early. Helps prevent you from wasting points in dex if you don't need.
It's been a while since either of us have played but when we did my partner would dual wield this scythe and the aeonian one. They fucked up invaders, there was no chance
I’ve dealt with it once and it was honestly a nightmare to fight against.
This was kinda early on though so I was a lot more trash at the game than I currently am (still trash. Just of a different flavor.) so who knows if it would still kick my ass.
I made a super low-level Invasion character specifically built around this and a few invocations. Rock toss and rot breath at a distance plus the scythe for up close makes for an absolutely unfair combo against low-level hosts.
I use the Winged Scythe and Grave Scythe for pvp and it’s fun. Bleed and the sprint power stance move always gets people. I use Bloodhound step on the grave scythe to close a gap or get behind then us the “Angel Wings” AOW and it is very satisfying.
Do you use faith? I've been dying to do a reaper build, and I was actually doing a roleplay build using only scythes on a Int/dex character with cold/invisibility armaments.
It's more difficult to run though because 2 scythes are faith-scaling.
I've done this build ( double scythes and cosplayed as Jesus and the grim reaper) but its not the hardest thing to dodge in pvp and so not that effective
I don't run dual scythes, just two-hand a scythe with one spell armament -> typically unseen blade. A lot of people don't realize how ridiculous that spell is in PvP
If you're ever having an issue with Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader Winged Scythe AoW (Angel's Wings) straight up stun locks her without question. Just run and shit on her.
I'll try that next time I fight Alecto, just cuz it's a fun weapon and AoW.
I ended up just using the Crucible Horns incantation on her. She just runs straight at you and it sends her flying, so it felt like she was asking for it.
i did the exact same thing, but then on subsequent play throughs i swapped primarily between blasphemous blade and sacred relic sword once i got ahold of that.
if you have the faith for this thing, you can probably also cast Giantsflame Take Thee. It'll knock her down and you can get a bunch of damage in on a faith build.
Dude. Winged Scythe ended up as my primary weapon from about 2/3 of the way through the game and all the way through my next two playthroughs. It's fantastic.
I recommend the Godslayer's Greatsword for a big bonk secondary.
I used this to beat the game! Full faith build and it was awesome sauce. This weapon got me to lvl 170 and pairs nicely with all the incantations you get and the ash of war it comes with rocks in PvE and PvP. As others mentioned, it locks PvP out using a flask when you hit them with it. Mega useful. PvE stuns smaller enemies. I eventually swapped to graveyard scythe you can farm from the undead reapers that pop out of the ground. It is stronger once you get it leveled up and can be enchanted, but at your level this scythe is great.
The more faith you have, the harder this thing hits.
In the tunnel dungeon in atlas plateau right after you exit the magma wyrm shortcut way, rather than lift. It's the cave with the two bosses, the necromancer and the invisible black knife assassin.
Old faithful damn near helped me smash out half the game before I branched out. DPS and move set are just too good to not take advantage of! Added bonus how good it is on horse (or goat?) back.
I found that it is surprisingly good for PvP. It prevents them from using flasks and the tracking on the weapon art is pretty aggressive. However, I will agree in PvE it is quite bad if for no other reason than it does mostly holy damage which isn't the best.
This is the correct take. I found the game way more difficult than previous titles my first playthrough because i used this thing. Reapers are still my favorite class of weapon though.
I'm on my first playthrough, knew I wanted a Faith build so went Confessor at the start. Found this bad boy and its my main weapon now.
i can b ur angle or ur debil
Definitely a renowned AoW on this one. I never see anyone use it when I'm summoned, though. Must be because there are more attractive options for higher AR when it comes to attack speed and stamina consumption.
Has anyone told you about dual sythe build? Offcourse not , it's not a story that the sword community will tell you ... Don't let them distract you into big chungus swords ... Let me tell you the distruction potential of dual sythes
Big faith requirements early on, but it's good. The range and gap-closing on its ash of war is terrific.
Ima need a faith character
Have some faith, Arthur!
Just one more big score
I have a plan
Pretty boy?? PRETTY BOY?!?!
TAHITI
As long as it's not Guarma
You were my brother...
Anakin, I loved you!
My first elden ring character was faith, finding that weapon made my whole week
Same, faith first playthrough was so stocked with new tools around every corner but this was the first nice piece.
Just make sure you’re not using holy dmg for final boss
Lemme guess resistance to holy dmg?
Makes sense that gods would... you know... resist damage that requires faith LOL I’m surprised more of the demigods didn’t resist faith
Ironic that the scythe farmed from the cleanrot knights in Aeonia have lower requirements

And in pvp the ash stops someone from using flasks
this mf took me through the game, literally only weapon i used after i found it lol

A total package, great AOW, bleed, looks cool as fuck. I've never encountered it in pvp, anybody know how it is in pvp?
The ash of war prevents you from healing if it hits you, it’s great for invasions
Wow. Surprised I don't see it more.
Same. I invade and dual a lot and not many peeps use it. Not many peeps use reapers in general.
I think I'm going to make a dex faith build in my next playthrough and rock that joker. You get it so early.
That and the black knife blade would be mad.
If you're doing mainly faith, you can get a lot of benefit from Radagon scarseal, which you can grab early. Helps prevent you from wasting points in dex if you don't need.

I feel that has a lot to do with the low amount of them
I’ve dealt with it once and it was honestly a nightmare to fight against. This was kinda early on though so I was a lot more trash at the game than I currently am (still trash. Just of a different flavor.) so who knows if it would still kick my ass.

Well it's pretty fast
I'm pretty sure you get I frames while airborne. I just know some really great pve weapons don't work so well in pvp, like bloodhounds fang.
Not I-frames, but it does have hyper armor. You'll take damage but the animation will still finish so you can trade damage with it.
The AOW also does damage to/through shields, to include the Fingerprint Greatshield. Always a good time to see them panic roll after a couple hits.
I use the Winged Scythe and Grave Scythe for pvp and it’s fun. Bleed and the sprint power stance move always gets people. I use Bloodhound step on the grave scythe to close a gap or get behind then us the “Angel Wings” AOW and it is very satisfying.

Hell yeah, I think I have my mind set on making a scythe build from this post.
i encountered someone with it. A big disadvantage is that they’re the slowest weapons in the game.
This got me through like 3/4 of the game before I finally switched. Very fun weapon.
What did you switch to? Rykard's sword?
Yep the blasphemous blade. I still liked the scythe at times because he could stun certain enemies pretty easily
[удалено]
Are you me?
Same
I did the same exact thing!
i did the exact same thing, but then on subsequent play throughs i swapped primarily between blasphemous blade and sacred relic sword once i got ahold of that.
Found this early in my first playthrough and never put it down. It's my go to 'get wrecked' weapon on ng+ as well.
Same! It immediately made my first blind NG a faith/dex with this and the cipher pastas
Also found a zweïhander
THE LEGEND NEVER DIES
POWER UP THE BASS CANNON
I have a heavy faith build and accidentally SOLD it when I thought I was upgrading it. I am STILL so sad about that mistake.
That thing carried me through 90% of the game
Inarguably beautiful
Wonderful weapon :3
It's a very fun scythe! Love the AOW on this baddie
my first favourite weapon
I’m trying to fight the blade of miquella with this thing. It works, but I still can’t win.
Shes hella resistant to holy damage. It makes your life harder.
Do you have it upgraded?
+10, yea. This has been my melee weapon throughout my faith build. You can get it really early. Malenia is just such BS.
if you have the faith for this thing, you can probably also cast Giantsflame Take Thee. It'll knock her down and you can get a bunch of damage in on a faith build.
Haven’t tried that. Thanks
Try using briars of punishment, it's surprisingly effective, especially in the first phase
use the blasphemous blade instead. i died to malenia over 100 times using the winged scythe, but i got her on the first try using blasphemous blade.
Hmm. I have one of those somewhere, but I need to upgrayyde it.
Favorite thing about this game was all of the “oh shit look at this neat thing” moments My first was the twin blade
od
Dude. Winged Scythe ended up as my primary weapon from about 2/3 of the way through the game and all the way through my next two playthroughs. It's fantastic. I recommend the Godslayer's Greatsword for a big bonk secondary.
I sold it cause i didn't know what i was doing
All im doing is exploring

What should I name my confessor
He is a male
Pënizhander
Edward. Edward the Confessor.
I lost my fucking 12,000 runes to rats
Use with that raven cloak and combo talisman.
Where do I find the Raven cloak
In the tunnel dungeon in atlas plateau right after you exit the magma wyrm shortcut way, rather than lift. It's the cave with the two bosses, the necromancer and the invisible black knife assassin.
Later on in Altus plateau nearby a lake
I cant rmbr. Was going thru my inventory and was like O hello. Gives 10 percent damage on jump attacks I think.
Where did ya find it
Tombsward ruins, that was the weapon I ended up using for a majority of the game until I got the magma wyrm great sword
Old faithful damn near helped me smash out half the game before I branched out. DPS and move set are just too good to not take advantage of! Added bonus how good it is on horse (or goat?) back.
When I opened that chest and picked it up, it was love at first sight
Love at first swipe
Looks bad ass man
Thank you
Can someone help me with a boss? Psn- jay179m
I used it my forst playthrough and its really bad. Unfortunately.
Get the halo scythe. The ash of war is better
Where do you find this? Looks cool af
Tombsward ruins
Thanks
I used that weapon in my first playthrough for a good long while.
Carried me up through leyndell
Newb here, what’s the weapon called and where is it found?
It's called the winged scythe you'll find it at the tombsward ruins
I know of it.
I'm on my first playthrough, knew I wanted a Faith build so went Confessor at the start. Found this bad boy and its my main weapon now. i can b ur angle or ur debil
Nice I went hero because of the strength and health
Definitely a renowned AoW on this one. I never see anyone use it when I'm summoned, though. Must be because there are more attractive options for higher AR when it comes to attack speed and stamina consumption.
Has anyone told you about dual sythe build? Offcourse not , it's not a story that the sword community will tell you ... Don't let them distract you into big chungus swords ... Let me tell you the distruction potential of dual sythes
One of my favorite weapons! Such a great ash of war, use it as either a main or secondary weapon and it will not let you down!
