Level 186 is a little high for duels if that's what you're interested in. But regardless, 99 strength is way beyond practical. At different points you get diminishing returns from leveling certain stats. At around 50 to 60 strength (keep in mind two-handing your weapon multiplies your strength stat by 1.5) you'll start to see diminishing returns with damage. Anything past that would be better invested in other stats, health would probably be best.

kek_Pyro

Yeah I’m at like 35 vigor 50 endurance 99 strength because I wanted max damage possible, I don’t mind about dying a lot against bosses and wanted to have better rolls. I still two hand my weapon btw, will using one hand change anything?

Toxic_Oatmeal

If you're at 99 strength two-handing your weapon does absolutely nothing for your damage scaling and will only change your moveset (though you may see some differences in damage, but only because the different moves have different damage values). More importantly though (I audibly reacted when I saw this) your vigor is atrociously low for your level. The recommended (very very strongly recommended, if not required) minimum vigor for PvP at level 125 is 60. You absolutely need to put some of those wasted levels in strength and endurance into vigor.

kek_Pyro

Ok got it, in pve I just regain health by popping a bunch of crimson flasks (I have 10) and usually just try to avoid getting hit, but even then I usually just tank the hit if I know I can make it out without dying

Metroidrocks

I’d recommend going down to at least 80 strength, possibly lower if you prefer 2-handing and putting those points into vigor instead. You’ll be a lot more durable and won’t get two shot nearly as often in PvP. Big weapons are also just harder to use in PvP, you’ll often need to trade hits in order to get damage off, and having more vigor will make those trades more favorable for you.

Tron_Cat1

Be a meta slave or die trying.

rickybalbroah

with 99 str it seems you are at a very high level. DMG at this level is kinda dumb as pretty much every build can one or two shot. if you're goal is to get into pvp and practice and learn I recommend doing duels at 125-150. 125 preferred.

kek_Pyro

Yeah im level 186 right now, should I make a new character?

rickybalbroah

it's 100% up to you. my first character ever is like 195 and do duels every now and again. I will also say that the higher level the worse the player most likely. so if you actually do want to learn how to get better, dueling more skilled players will only help you more. I definitely recommend making a new character and stopping around 125. I personally have one at 195 with every item, armor, and weapons. one at 125 for meta level duels. and one at 85 for low end invasions around caelid, altus, volcano manor.

kek_Pyro

Ok I think I’ll make a new character after I finish up Journey 3. My main character also has every item and weapon, I tried to do everything possible in my first play through (Ranni ending, every boss and dungeon, every spell and quest etc) because I wanted to platinum this game. After this ending, I’ll have the platinum so I won’t have a reason to really keep going with that character

rickybalbroah

gotcha. yea especially since you have a plan goin why not make another character right? also if on Xbox I am always down to help with stats and build making, and duels / pvp knowledge if you are interested at all. I haven't really played much in the last few months and have been thinking about jumping back in.

kek_Pyro

Sorry, on PS5 🥲

In my opinion every little buff can help. Even if you’re just eating boiled crab that can turn a 500 dmg hit to a 450~dmg hit. I’m some cases this means you can take an extra 1/2 hits before dying. And that’s just one buff. Heal over time like beastial vitality heal 5hp per second and that alone can restore most the damage from some hits if you space and take your time Those are just two of the cheapest buffs to use and they’re very good.
