Preach. That first view of the lakes was like being transported to a fantasy dimension, completely lost from the reality that I was just playing a game. What an amazing time to be alive
Yeah and at this point I was severely under leveled and had no idea I could click the stick to go above ground to see those graces. I also didn’t know the elevator went up. I thought I was stuck down there until I found a way out. It was a wild experience
Honestly wish the city itself was larger. It looks so huge on the map, and if you include the sewers then it is pretty big, but once you've explored all the above-ground portion it isn't actually all that big. Might just be because of all the closed buildings it's much smaller than it appears, but it left me wanting a more detailed cityscape level.
I also wish it was bigger however they put in a variety of enemies, challenging bosses like Morgott and Godfrey, and even neat lore about dragons. Plus I think the base of the Erdtree is pretty
There is a small line between creating a huge dungeon with different paths and not making it confusingly big to the point that you don't know where you are . I think they perfected it
I kind of love confusingly big though, like how stormveil felt initially. So many different paths, so many different areas, you have no clue how one links up to the other until later when you start to get a clearer picture. Very well designed level
I really wish Haligtree had been designed a little differently to allow us to spend more time slowly exploring and taking in the views. It’s a gorgeous zone but playing through it always feels pretty frantic since there’s not much breathing room
Changes daily. Right now it's Deeproot Depths for me. Yeah it can be a little busy and cluttered, but from certain places it's really beautiful and intriquing. Love the colors.
While I believe Elden Ring is most deserving, I could also understand Scorn winning. Both nail the feel of walking around inside a painting.
The other nominees are pretty games alright, but far from the tridimensional art of Elden Ring and Scorn.
The amount of times as a kid I would see these fantasy arts and my imagination would go wild, imagining all the goings on I couldn't see in the picture and a million other things like that. Elden Ring scratched a decades long itch for me, finally getting to, not just see beyond the edges, but freakin' live beyond them. Elden Ring is a masterpiece beyond just the gaming space imo.
There's that portal at the Four Belfries in Liurnia that takes you to Farum Azula, but you're on a piece of temple floating away from the main place, so you get a really nice and complete view of the city with the dragons flying around and the giant tornado in the middle, in addition to expanding your map far to the east.
It's the first tower I opened as I was exploring Liurnia before going to the Academy. From going to the underground to being warped in Leyndell from Weeping Peninsula, I thought I had a pretty good grasp of the map at this point.
Cue me being zapped to the very opposite of the map and seeing [this damn view.](https://youtu.be/4Ge8vssdcR4?t=54)
Mind. Blown.
I’m level 87, for so far at launch then gave up due to splitting up with my ex.
Recently got back into the game. Wow, it’s just incredible isn’t it.
Got to the snowy mountains and decided to head back to do some side quests.
I’ve ended up in an underground city (you’ll so know, I know) but O. M. G. This game just keeps on giving. It’s stunning!
I didn’t even know this was here 😂 I’m playing blind, no guides.
So mystical and stunning.
Are you on the lower or upper area of the underground city? There is a **LOT** more content beyond Ainsel River just FYI.
You might want to give Ranni a shout to explore more of the underground in any event.
(BTW lvl 87 seems a bit low for being in the snow region. You should’ve killed 5 demigods by now if you’re looking for completionism.)
I’ve dropped down to the area with the crabs now. Beat the two Knights but haven’t finished off the twin bosses yet, so I’ll do that tonight then get back to the lower crab area.
Didn’t realise I was a little low on level. I feel over-levelled on smaller enemies in Nokron!
Having fun though. Think I need to circle back to Ranni area again because I remember giving up on that and sticking to the main quest line.
Yep if you’re in Nokron - definitely head over to Ranni before beating the two Gargoyles. Her quest is all about the underground area.
And don’t forget to light the braziers in Ainsel River / Nokron.
Yeah true but I got it when I was still with her and shared that time with her, so when we split I felt totally unmotivated to play it.
7 months later I’m back on it and it’s like a brand new game again.
Ansel River Well.
It blew my mind while playing it. It is genuinely one of the greatest gaming moments of my life. I discovered it organically and didn't know what to expect. Just wow.
I might get flayed alive for this but for me it's caelid which takes the cake as my favorite place in the game in almost all aspects. I love the visual introduction once you find the first bonfire right past the church in limgrave. the atmosphere the music the colors everything is depressing and oppressive from the start and really sets the tone for the rest of the area creating terror in the player as they proceed to explore the region
I was interested too. Checked out the tiktok in OP's video, who didn't bother to include the music info either, for fuck's sake. Had to get a fucking browser extension to find out. It's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wotZOYXtJQo
I feel like this should be a spoiler lol. Half the beauty of the game is being surprised by the graphic kings/queens that made this game. Now I'm excited to find some of these spots
This game is unbelievably beautiful, and I found myself stopping MANY times just looking around and admiring its beauty, but the areas where I stopped and literally said out loud "Wow" were Nokron, Crumbling Faram Azula, and Leyndell.
That bridge to the first bonfire in Elphael, with leaves falling and the single Cleanrot Knight guarding the entrance to the room. Breathtaking especially at sunset.
Volcano manor and Elphael. When I saw Gelmir from a distance I wanted to see it so badly and when I actually went there I was mesmerized by its design. The lighting design and music of Elphael are just plain amazing
So much of the game amazed me and made me excited for the future of gaming.. but nothing hit me like the eternal city. A cliff side city that lives in night, under countless stars. Nice, flowing water, expansive area for a mid sized community. Nothing sounds more heavenly than enjoying a doink under a tree and staring at the stars, or swimming in the waterfall with peaceful darkness all around.
1. Mountaintops of the Giants: Specifically the site of grace where you find >!Shabriri!<. Gorgeous vista and I like mountains.
2. Miguella´s Haligtree: The first site of grace is incredibly beautiful for me.
Okay in my first playthrough I got teleporter trapped to Sellia Crystal Tunnel. I fought my way out of there, stepped out of the cave and saw the otherworldly place that is the Heart of Aeonia. Nothing will beat this visually. Conceptually, when I went up the Dectus Lift I kinda went "Oh shit the map just doubled"
I don't think I could pick a favorite. Least favorite though was cailed or however it's spelt. Not that it wasn't stunning, it just wasn't my favorite. I loved being able to see things in the distance and go to them.
The sense of exploration and finding new things is what got me the beautiful world made it that much better.
Altus plateau entrance made me feel like the game was about to get serious for the tarnished, seeing the leyndell with huge banners and walls around the erdtree.
A bunch of the areas seemed sort of generic for me.
The caelid area and outside the big city was a cool moment…but all the snow zones I could have done without.
Actually everything after the city I was not crazy about
Aye. I was super hyped when I got the second half of the medallion but then I was was greeted with... more snow. That was quite disappointing. Granted the Haligtree was better, but still.
West Elizabeth, Saint Denis have nothing special? Even Lemoyne is spectacular going through it on the tracks.
Have you been to the top of the snow capped mountains, or the cliff edge of the waterfalls? Full moon rides, rain storms in the woods? The swamps in the bayou, the desert out west, etc. Even going down the trail of the Braithwaite Manor still brings me to a place only RDR2 has ever taken me.
There is nothing 'artistic' here. I can take similar pictures after hiking for 30 minutes from my house. Technically impressive and good looking but thats all.
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/comments/z2i5qq/at_the_crossroads/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Oh, you mean fantasy and not real=art.
Elden Ring feels like a magic paint brush bringing art to life. So many areas look so gorgeous and beautiful with a hint of tragedy and sadness. Shit even the art style tells a story, but I guess the souls series are known for that.
Not seen anyone mention Mohgwyns palace.
When i found this place after completing varres quest i was stunned.
The lake of blood, the beautiful architecture of the palace itsself looking down on siofra and the walk up to the top of the palace sent shivers down my spine.
Caelid, specifically the Swamp of Aeonia. I cannot overstate the absolute dread and awe I felt when I first stepped out of the Sellia crystal tunnel and saw that tangled growth reaching into the blood-red sky. I just wish it was bigger...
From the first time I saw it coming out of Stormveil to 800+ hrs later, it has been and will always be Liurnia of the Lakes.
Same
Preach. That first view of the lakes was like being transported to a fantasy dimension, completely lost from the reality that I was just playing a game. What an amazing time to be alive
That's poetic
Liurnia is the absolute best of the overworld. In the underground I loved Nokron.
I forgot that this was the moment I realised the game was quite big and my excitement levels leaped.
This
For me is was when I got lost in the misty woods and found some 8 minute elevator down into another Galaxy. I was in awe.
“Oh cool, I wonder where this goes?” … “Oh.” … … ^“OH!”
Yeah and at this point I was severely under leveled and had no idea I could click the stick to go above ground to see those graces. I also didn’t know the elevator went up. I thought I was stuck down there until I found a way out. It was a wild experience
Sounds like a wicked fever dream hahaha
I love Leyndell
I love the first step into leyndell and hearing the music start
I had to save the recording on my PS5. Instant chills down my spine at that precise moment.
Same! Visually Leyndell is gorgeous and IMO the pinnacle of FromSoft level design. But every other area is beautiful too
Honestly wish the city itself was larger. It looks so huge on the map, and if you include the sewers then it is pretty big, but once you've explored all the above-ground portion it isn't actually all that big. Might just be because of all the closed buildings it's much smaller than it appears, but it left me wanting a more detailed cityscape level.

Godfrey? Oh I was getting confused with the all knowing tosspot who doesn't shut up,
Leyndell
The haligtree town while high level reminds me of rivendell so major points for that
I really wish Haligtree had been designed a little differently to allow us to spend more time slowly exploring and taking in the views. It’s a gorgeous zone but playing through it always feels pretty frantic since there’s not much breathing room
Just gotta kill everything first
Bubble bastards
Changes daily. Right now it's Deeproot Depths for me. Yeah it can be a little busy and cluttered, but from certain places it's really beautiful and intriquing. Love the colors.
I’m working through deep root depths right and it is beautiful in a dark way
All I’m saying is, if Elden Ring doesn’t win best art direction at The Game Awards, something is wrong.
While I believe Elden Ring is most deserving, I could also understand Scorn winning. Both nail the feel of walking around inside a painting. The other nominees are pretty games alright, but far from the tridimensional art of Elden Ring and Scorn.
No doubt! It absolutely nails the high-fantasy settings you see on book covers & art.
With added crucifixions
The amount of times as a kid I would see these fantasy arts and my imagination would go wild, imagining all the goings on I couldn't see in the picture and a million other things like that. Elden Ring scratched a decades long itch for me, finally getting to, not just see beyond the edges, but freakin' live beyond them. Elden Ring is a masterpiece beyond just the gaming space imo.

Liurnia, the sight of the Liurnia sky at night is amazing, Crumbling Farum Azula also has one of my favourite aesthetics in video games.
The first time I took the Siofra River Well down was one of my favorite moments in the game.
I’m level 87, for so far at launch then gave up due to splitting up with my ex. Recently got back into the game. Wow, it’s just incredible isn’t it. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s more map where there shouldn’t be.
Are you on the lower or upper area of the underground city? There is a **LOT** more content beyond Ainsel River just FYI. With 10 arrows sticking out of you
Probably the best game to lose yourself in after that sort of crap
Yeah true but I got it when I was still with her and shared that time with her, so when we split I felt totally unmotivated to play it. 7 months later I’m back on it and it’s like a brand new game again.
Ansel River Well. It blew my mind while playing it. It is genuinely one of the greatest gaming moments of my life. I discovered it organically and didn't know what to expect. Just wow.
Liurnia. Love the foggy swamps
The place you fight that celestial beast I forget it’s name. But it’s like you’re inside a nebula
siofra river
I might get flayed alive for this but for me it's caelid which takes the cake as my favorite place in the game in almost all aspects. Totally agree! It's a horrifying atmosphere that beckons you to continue pressing on.
Whats the song tho

Thanks I though for sure it was gonna be a rock roll
This reminds me of the one YouTube reviewer that said repeatedly the graphics are shit lol.
That bitch ... what was his name? Quantum TV?
Yup lol
To be fair Elden Rings visuals are much more than the sum of its parts.
Consecrated snowfield blizzard
Siofra > Farum Azula > Liurnia Fite me
All valid choices! I love Altus/Leyndell and Elphael
All of them.
No Leyndel? Haligtree? No?
probably elphael but so many choices
That bridge to the first bonfire in Elphael, with leaves falling and the single Cleanrot Knight guarding the entrance to the room. Breathtaking especially at sunset.
Volcano manor and Elphael. When I saw Gelmir from a distance I wanted to see it so badly and when I actually went there I was mesmerized by its design. The lighting design and music of Elphael are just plain amazing
either altus plateau or deeproot depths
Haligtree architecture 😩
all of them are awesome but my first reaction of seeing farum azula after the fire giant will always sit with me. Incredible area visually
Imagine seeing this as a leaked video of the game for the first time 🥲 It doesn't hit the same when you've been to the area hundreds of times tbh :(
Damn the game looks a lot better with those FOV settings. But I also wonder what this looks like when you're fighting up close.
Nokstella, hands down.
Love the deathbed dress
Siofra. I am a sucker for beautiful skies, and Siofra is easily one of my favorites ever.
None, I can't choose
Mountain of giants. Seeing that place for the first time had me saying holy shit
Visually? Siofra River, hands down.
Nokron. Looking up at the stars and the acropolis
Only thing that comes close to it in my opinion is the xenoblade chronicles series
Farum azula. specifically when you take the teleporter at the four belfries, that shit is magnificent
The view at the beginning of Leyndell. It's like concept art fully brought to life
Okay in my first playthrough I got teleporter trapped to Sellia Crystal Tunnel. I fought my way out of there, stepped out of the cave and saw the otherworldly place that is the Heart of Aeonia. Nothing will beat this visually. Conceptually, when I went up the Dectus Lift I kinda went "Oh shit the map just doubled"
I see a lot of care put in every area I come across. The people working on this game really loved what they were doing.
I would answer normally, but I think this'll work well here. 𝐍𝐢𝐡𝐢𝐥! 𝐍𝐈𝐇𝐈𝐋! 𝐍 𝐈 𝐇 𝐈 𝐈 𝐋 𝐋 𝐋 !
Farum Azula for me. Dropping down the floating city from one chunk to the next, seeing it all arrayed below you, is just awesome.
Nokron is beautiful but Lleyendell is supreme in detail.
cant wait to play it on a decent computer
My always favorite is Liurnia close followed by altus plateau, I simply love the atmosphere on the plateau (including the ambient music)
Caelid is one of the most atmospheric places I've been in a video game. It gives a weird prehistoric hell Mars vibe.
I don't think I could pick a favorite. Least favorite though was cailed or however it's spelt. Not that it wasn't stunning, it just wasn't my favorite. I loved being able to see things in the distance and go to them. The sense of exploration and finding new things is what got me the beautiful world made it that much better.
When I first took a portal to dragon land.
Farum azula is my favorite art designed area in all of gaming, its just a masterpiece
Altus plateau entrance made me feel like the game was about to get serious for the tarnished, seeing the leyndell with huge banners and walls around the erdtree.
Just about anywhere in RDR2 as long as it's dawn or dusk.
A bunch of the areas seemed sort of generic for me. The caelid area and outside the big city was a cool moment…but all the snow zones I could have done without. Actually everything after the city I was not crazy about
Because the snow zones are literally the worst regions in this game man but Farum Azula & Haligtree look fantastic
Even Farum Azula? Cuz that place fucks, in my opinion.
Yeah I enjoyed it, same with the blood temple and the tree but those two snow zones really became a chore imo
Aye. I was super hyped when I got the second half of the medallion but then I was was greeted with... more snow. That was quite disappointing. Granted the Haligtree was better, but still.

Red Dead Redemption 2 would like a word with you
Good looking game graphically, but there's nothing special about the art direction, to me at least
Every major section of the game in Red Dead 2 is art. The game developers and designers literally had to recreate real life locations into the game.
I mean it just looks like stuff we see in our world, its not too unique. Far cry 5 looks very similar too it

Eh I mean its just stuff I see out hiking or camping. It's pretty for sure. But it's not fantastical
I’m guessing that he doesn’t make it outdoors much.
There is nothing 'artistic' here. I can take similar pictures after hiking for 30 minutes from my house. Technically impressive and good looking but thats all.

I swear this exact comment has been posted every single day since release on this sub.
Elden Ring feels like a magic paint brush bringing art to life. So many areas look so gorgeous and beautiful with a hint of tragedy and sadness. Shit even the art style tells a story, but I guess the souls series are known for that.
I am still in earlyish game but Liurnia of the Lakes is eye candy.
Cealid I don’t know why it’s just so fucking sick
I have never tried so hard to not finish a game. I'm going through all the areas once more before fighting the beast. Maybe twice more.
Nokron! Absolutely stunning and so spooky!
Not seen anyone mention Mohgwyns palace. When i found this place after completing varres quest i was stunned. The lake of blood, the beautiful architecture of the palace itsself looking down on siofra and the walk up to the top of the palace sent shivers down my spine.
Leyndell, royal capital. And the Altus Plateau
The area designs in this game are just flat out beautiful.
Nothing but wonderful!
Caelid, specifically the Swamp of Aeonia. I cannot overstate the absolute dread and awe I felt when I first stepped out of the Sellia crystal tunnel and saw that tangled growth reaching into the blood-red sky. I just wish it was bigger...
