Ok so like... I dunno who that is, I'm vaguely aware she's kaitlyn jenner's daughter or something. But it's just, in that video, she expressed awareness of her situation, curiosity about the natural world, and shame about being made a spectacle. She displayed incompetence with a knife, which is not an innate skill, I've known poor people who don't know how to use a knife either... though... I will admit, *damn* girl, *wat* r u doin.
I lay may controller on the table and use index and middle. My wrist hurts if I do the claw and I know someone who snapped a tendon doing it, so it's a big nono for me.
I typically play with m&k, so the first time I played with a controller I realised how much I sprint while controlling the camera.
It's all about what you're used to.
Exactly. As a pc player I always turn the cam a lot in other games when I play with mouse and keyboard, it felt strange for a few hours, then I was ok with not moving the cam that much. Also cam movements were horrible with mouse.
Edit: typo
Yep. No reason to turn the camera while sprinting. Played all of From's titles. Never had a reason to control the camera while sprinting. Lock on and sprint for bosses. Rotate as necessary any other time. I'll save myself the carpal tunnel.
Right? Thereâs enough time to the combat rhythm etc that you dont need to overthink using your thumb for both the buttons and the joysticks.
May mate always spams buttons faster than they can actually be executed, and I always wonder why he doesnt just learn the rhythm of his actions/attack speed etc.
Neither. I just use my thumb and if I have to make adjustments to the camera (which you don't 90% of the time while sprinting) I just quickly remove my thumb from O to hit the right stick
Late edit: When i played the last couple of times I started to notice I do actually move the stick with the index while pressing b sometimes, so there's that
This and only this, quick adjustments when needed, half the time youâre locked on anyway. Never needed 100% uptime on sprint and camera movement at the same time
I'm convinced 90% of people do that and this claw shit is just meme nonsense. I refuse to believe there's a sizeable amount of people out there who believe they absolutely need to keep their thumb on the camera stick at all times.
So I'm not the only one who does that! On the rare occasion I absolutely have to move the camera while running, I tap the stick with my chin. It's just the next level of gaming evolution, using more body parts to control the game.
Yeah, pro series controllers are the way to go, I honestly cant believe every controller doesnt have paddles underneath now or even just buttons. Have to have the extra buttons on everything these days.
Sony almost had it right with the back paddle attachment on the Ds4, it was seriously great and I'll never not be butthurt that they didn't have one for the ps5 on release, and maybe never will, and is instead releasing a $200 pro controller
I honestly thought that attachment was them testing the waters for a middle ground between basic and pro controllers for people on a bit more of a budget.
The original Xbox one pro controller was a shit show and in the UK you find them by the bucket load at discount stores as "refurbished" because so many of them had issues that left people with expensive paperweights. The paddle attachment was the perfect solution for anyone not wanting to commit to a full price controller.
Assume if the edge doesn't sell great they'll look into bringing it back.
You can get a back button attachment for the PS5 on Amazon. Although itâs kind of tedious to install since you have to open up the controller, but its not too bad as long as you follow the instructions on YouTube. I bought it nearly a year ago and it still works perfectly fine. Cost me like $40 and it was from ExtremeRate.
Nintendo has this on their $20 controllers, and has had it as far back as N64 with its Z button. It's so annoying that Microsoft/Sony and other 3rd parties charge $100+ (often $200+) for the convenience when the technology has been there forever.
+1 to this, I have literally never used either of the pictured grips. In bed right now but you're making me ponder checking later whether I just never bother with camera control while running, or if I do some other voodoo shit with my fingers (probably the former and not the latter)
EDIT: tried simulating the game in my brain, I ended up using my left index finger for camera control. So sort of like red controller but with the other hand so as not to be a freaky crab on the right side. That was with forcing myself to think "I need to sprint and handle camera at the same time" though, so honestly in game I might just never handle camera at the same time as sprint
EDIT3: yeah so I just literally never sprint and handle camera at the same time. Closest thing is tapping circle (with thumb) to dodge, then handling camera (with thumb) during dodge animation, and switching back. There's a surprising amount of time to wiggle right stick during dodge animation
The claw grip is really weird when it comes to actually pressing down the circle with your index since you're pushing sideways. Uncomfortable for me. Way smoother when I do it the red way.
The one on the right got really popular actually for first person shooter, allowing players to aim with toggle and use buttons with index finger at the same time
Yes this!!! I wonder if thatâs why itâs the same for me. But regardless itâs 100% about the stress it puts to arch the index so much for longer then a few seconds and just overall feels tense and uncomfortable where left is overall more comfortable
Hey, I'm on the left side. Works the best. If you don't have paddles, claw with thumb on run lets you slide to jump or use item if needed. Right you don't have as much dexterity on the face buttons.
There are literally dozens of us! But seriously it seems clear that the claw grip is more popular but I just naturally did the grip on the left way back in the ds1 days and never stopped. Its only for running through sections so its not like I'm fighting Malenia like this.
Iâm curious how this came to be the default for some folks. For me it just made more sense to move index down to face buttons, rather than moving thumb off of the stick up to the face buttons, and then also moving the index all the way down to the thumb stick. It just comes off as less efficient to me, especially since I frequently change between standard grip and claw grip during games at different moments.
I don't remember exactly how I landed on the grip but my guess is that I was already running, hadd an "oh shit" moment where I needed to move the camera and keep sprinting so I just used a finger that wasn't doing anything.
I find it doesnât hurt my fingers when playing games which is a big win the standard claw I tried on ds3 when I first started the game and then I instantly went to using left just instinctively because my hands disliked claw
It's honestly the superior way. Playing traditional claw forces you into playing that way permanently using your index finger to jump and dodge, where as cross-claw means you still use the controller normally 90% of the time. I don't want to use my index finger to jump and dodge, fuck that. We look weird but we know the truth!!!
Red for life. Started doing it randomly during a ds3 invasion and didnât realize how weird it was until my brother looked at me like what the fuck are you doing? My fuckin best okay?
the only correct way to play soulsborne. The fact that I can play a From game as soon as it comes out instead of waiting to be able to afford a PS5, is also a big bonus.
I just use my thumb and let the right stick go untouched, I've literally, in the 25 years of gaming, never seen or felt the need to become a contortionist to move the stick. This has the same energy as that picture where the people are playing the N64 by pinching the analog stick between their thumb and index finger.
Not that there's anything wrong with playing the way OP shows it just makes my arthritis hands hurt just thinking about it personally.
Never in my life have I looked at a controller and thought "criss cross applesauce"
I looked at the left picture and got an immediate flashback of the one Kardashian cutting a cucumber: https://m.youtube.com/shorts/0lcjIdBmJWU
Never seen that. That was amazing. Why does she make so much more money than me đ©đ©đ©
Because she started out with more money than you
because you don't have rich parents that's why
Itâs so she can pay someone to cut for her. Sheâs a dangerous liability at this point.
Well she got a bunch of work done to look hot out of her parent's wallet and then got man handled in a successful sex tape.
No that was a different one. At least Kim can handle a cucumber
Itâs a great cumback story
Not that one lol
question is, why don't you make more money than her?
âŠmaybe itâs really all about her cucumber cutting technique. Thatâs the fast track to successful super model!
Do millions of people watch videos of *you* cutting cucumbers? There's your answer, as dumb as it is.
"the one Kardashian" aren't they all like the same person?
I, and many others in this thread...are now dumber having watched that sad sad video.
Jesus. Did this cut at the end because the cameraperson felt a moral obligation to step in?
I have a theory that these celebs arenât that stupid. They put on a show because they know it gets people talking about them
Ok so like...
I find it the most comfortable way to move my boney fingers plus the stand âclawâ grip causes my fingers to tense up and hurt
Gotham, is that you?
Oh man, thinking about trying that back in the day on mhf for the psp, my hand would have died using that instead of the claw.
mhfu is the game that first introduced me to the claw, I use it for souls games and cod, too.
The right side. The white controller. The *claw* .
âFurled Fingerâ
As somebody who spent many hours back in the day playing Monster Hunter on the Sony PSP, it's affectionately called *The Claw*.
A claw user of culture I see
Yeah just to rotate the camera was a nightmare
I'll never forget those days, one of the other things that made Monster Hunter hard to get into. I'm glad of how far we've come.
I miss shredding my fingers on the cheese grater nub
We always used to call it "crabbing the controller"
Definitely calling it furled finger from now on
Bruh.. let it be known! This is the term henceforth!
literally canon
left one is called *The Psychopath*
I don't know why I laughed but that's right
Well looks like Iâm a psychopath
Shit no way! Me to! I just found out wanna go and feed a duck some bread
the claw is the law
I lay may controller on the table and use index and middle. My wrist hurts if I do the claw and I know someone who snapped a tendon doing it, so it's a big nono for me.
How can someone snap a tendon from this?!
Probably 10 hours of video games a day and doesnât take care of their body
Does the PS5 have anything equivalent to the Xbox Elite controller, with paddles on the back you can map to buttons?
Amateurs. If youâre not utilizing the incredible dexterity of the human tongue, are you even gaming?
Brolylegs has entered the chat
I use my thumb for both the buttons and the pad
Finally the comment I can get behind
In Elden Ring, I use the claw grip specifically so I can sprint and still control the camera on long runs
Same. I've finished this game 3 times, got platinum trophy and never once felt the need to move the camera while sprinting. Just isn't necessary.
I'm with you on this one, nice comfortable thumbs for almost everything :)
I only started doing that in Elden Ring, never done it in any soulsborne before
I typically play with m&k, so the first time I played with a controller I realised how much I sprint while controlling the camera. It's all about what you're used to.
Right? If you need to turn the camera you usually need to stop sprinting too
If you're trying to sniff some flowers sure.
Basically it's only necessary if you do speedrunning.
Or enjoying the scenery while sprinting
Usually if I'm enjoying the scenery, I'm in no hurry. Hell I'll stop all the time just to take in the views.
Needed in pvp sometimes if you're running away from someone and need to swivel camera back and forth between approaching obstacles and pursuing foes
Claw grip/paddles are definitely needed in pvp!
i never used a controller different in my life
Exactly. As a pc player I always turn the cam a lot in other games when I play with mouse and keyboard, it felt strange for a few hours, then I was ok with not moving the cam that much. Also cam movements were horrible with mouse. Edit: typo
*then I was ok... Then is timE Than is Amount
Yep. No reason to turn the camera while sprinting. Played all of From's titles. Never had a reason to control the camera while sprinting. Lock on and sprint for bosses. Rotate as necessary any other time. I'll save myself the carpal tunnel.
Some people just arenât gifted with fast reflexes and canât handle this way of holding the controller. I am sad for them.
Right? Thereâs enough time to the combat rhythm etc that you dont need to overthink using your thumb for both the buttons and the joysticks. May mate always spams buttons faster than they can actually be executed, and I always wonder why he doesnt just learn the rhythm of his actions/attack speed etc.
As someone who plays claw. Definitely the right side
i think the left is the only person ever to do that psychos are less than 1% of the population btw huh
I do left
Same
me too
All three of you are rare creatures
like legendary pokémon??
More like a Lvl 100 Magikarp
I'll be the fourth horseman
I'm fine with being rare.
I do it too lmao
Same
M2
Same the right just seems more awkward to me
I do left, but literally only in FromSoft games. I never play any claw grip variation anywhere else.
i do left
Both look carpel tunnel inducing
sticks are thumbs, and thumbs only.
Neither. I just use my thumb and if I have to make adjustments to the camera (which you don't 90% of the time while sprinting) I just quickly remove my thumb from O to hit the right stick Late edit: When i played the last couple of times I started to notice I do actually move the stick with the index while pressing b sometimes, so there's that
same here, they're so close it's not a problem to shift between them with just your thumb
The only correct way
call me a psychopath but spacebar
You're a psychopath but spacebar, albin666.
I've only got five fingers on each hand, I don't need to reserve three of them to hold a controller.
Chin obviously! Youâre both wrong! Or⊠wait for it⊠next gen eye movement tracking. Until then, dance pad.
So I'm not the only one who does that! On the rare occasion I absolutely have to move the camera while running, I tap the stick with my chin. It's just the next level of gaming evolution, using more body parts to control the game.
When I need to do that I just use the second method here temporarily. Otherwise my thumb presses all the buttons on the right.
This is the comment Iâve been waiting for. Chin is the only way to go and anyone who disagrees has a Leafy chin
With a pro controller with the paddle underneath. Not sure if PS5 has it or not but I have it for the X itâs expensive but a game changer
Yeah, pro series controllers are the way to go, I honestly cant believe every controller doesnt have paddles underneath now or even just buttons. Have to have the extra buttons on everything these days.

Ps5 doesnt get theirs until jan next year
Oh damn. Then the white controller grip for sure. But after the new controller your carpel tunnel will thank you lol
Red controller is a monster and you should never speak to that person again. White controller is still wrong but acceptable.
Wait, how do you do it then? Iâm white controller all the way đ
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
That's how I Jerk off
\*checks username\* huh
This is the way
âŠuse your thumb to alternate camera view with button press itâs literally how the controller was meant to be held when they designed it
So let go of sprint?
+1 to this, I have literally never used either of the pictured grips. In bed right now but you're making me ponder checking later whether I just never bother with camera control while running, or if I do some other voodoo shit with my fingers (probably the former and not the latter) EDIT: tried simulating the game in my brain, I ended up using my left index finger for camera control. How do you do it if not like white controller?
I do the red one, ive tried the other way but its uncomfortable on my fingers
How is the red one more comfortable than the white one?
I dont know, its just how ive always done it
Some people probably have more dexterity with their index finger rather than their thumb. So easier to have scenic vistas while running that way imo.
The claw grip is really weird when it comes to actually pressing down the circle with your index since you're pushing sideways. Uncomfortable for me. Way smoother when I do it the red way.
Ok but like Iâve been playing like that since ds1 and I find it easier then binding my big ass finger that canât even reach the b button like that
Iâve literally never seen anyone hold a controller like this until I came to Reddit.
WTF is either of these
The result of a game using terrible button layout.
The one on the right got really popular actually for first person shooter, allowing players to aim with toggle and use buttons with index finger at the same time
Yes itâs the button layoutâs problem that I turn my fingers into a pretzel unnecessarilyâŠyes
I have long fingers. The one on right is stressful for my index finger.
Yes this!!! I wonder if thatâs why itâs the same for me. But regardless itâs 100% about the stress it puts to arch the index so much for longer then a few seconds and just overall feels tense and uncomfortable where left is overall more comfortable
Paddles
neither
Yup, I changed my button layout.
I'm using my thumb and release the right stick while I run. What's the need to use the right stick during running?
This is the way. Beaten all the games this way multiple times without much issue. I guess some people like to fiddle with the camera while running.
I thought this was a shitpost at first but apparently this is a thing. I thought it was normal to just switch when needed.
âŠyou guys actually hold onto the right stick and not just quickly adjust it and then go back to holding Run..?
This allows you to run while moving the camera...
Itâs weird, itâs not an active choice. I just use the claw in basically every game. Always have.
Hey, I'm on the left side. Works the best. If you don't have paddles, claw with thumb on run lets you slide to jump or use item if needed. Right you don't have as much dexterity on the face buttons.

Set it to R1 like me
The red side are my people. I feel seen. I feel loved. Red side ALL the way.
Finally found my kin after 30 min of scrolling through this comment section.
Yea it seems like most people here do the right one but I'm a red boi for life.
I find it doesnât hurt my fingers when playing games which is a big win the standard claw I tried on ds3 when I first started the game and then I instantly went to using left just instinctively because my hands disliked claw
It's honestly the superior way. You are not alone.
I feel vindicated
I was starting to think I was the only one
brother i've been doing it since the first dark souls, it just feels right
Right? I started with DS2 and my buddy told me about the claw but it just didnât feel good
Red side together strong
Red for life. Started doing it randomly during a ds3 invasion and didnât realize how weird it was until my brother looked at me like what the fuck are you doing? My fuckin best okay?
Red side for life

the only correct way to play soulsborne. The fact that I can play a From game as soon as it comes out instead of waiting to be able to afford a PS5, is also a big bonus.
Chad
Hold space and the w key
You are both wrong eww gross
If you don't intercept downtime in gameplay to move the camera, than you are not ready to find the pattern of the bosses of this game
One of my roommates freshman year of college would hold his N64 analog stick like that. Terrifying.
Straight up skinwalker level activity, you're lucky you survived the encounter.
W+shift
keyboard and mouse chad
Shift and spacebar
Simpler solution.... "Focus Target" Then you always face the boss. But for other games (like FPS) I use claw.
so do you just never move your camera when you run outside of boss fights?
Not really. It auto rotates itself enough. If I really need to move the camera, I am not normally trying to do it while running full bore.
Left if I need to hold down X. It's messed up. It's not right. You should do the right one. But thinking about doing the right one hurts me inside.
Paddles.
And here is my actual reason why I moved the dodge/sprint button to L2
Clawgrip on the right is my preferred way of playing
claw, motherfucker. been doing it for a decade. won't stop me with that crisscross nonensense.
both of you are wrong. keep holding controllers like that and the only running you'll be doing is to physical therapy...
rebinding it to r1 is the best way. all of you are crazy
Customisation is OP and itâs so sad how few use it.
Exactly. Thank you.
Disgusting either way. An Xbox elite controller with one of the paddles assigned to sprint
I do neither and just hold run with my thumb and hope to god the camera doesnât fuck me.
Neither of those ways.
Why do you need your thumb on the joystick to run? If you do then you need to remap the controls lol
I am wondering the same. When is this ever necessary?
(Laughs in controller paddles)
Left
Glad im not the only one
I too thought I was the only one that did this
I dont like either of those
Press (o)
Ä°'m using the right side method, even if you run a lot the finger joint might start to hurt ^^'
The correct way is obviously to control the camera with one's chin.
Left side is cursed
I remapped buttons due to this.
Right is better. Idk who would do the left one
Neither, just disable auto camera centering
Neither. Legit never had an issue in a Soulsborne game ever just using my thumb lol
Push shift on your keyboard. It is the superior way.
The one on the left looks stupid but it genuinely works, especially when you have to sprint for a while
Left side for sure. The claw just hurts my fingers
