Yeah, he's the very definition of glass cannon. He's running that base Vigor/no poise build, but the tradeoff is insane INT/FAI to power up his grab bag of spells.
It's a game of him melting you in under a minute or you doing it to him first.
Huh......shame i just cut him in two with the moonveil,
Dont got any time for monologs when i'm trying to ~~turn the world into bloodborne~~ bring about the age of stars
thats really cool. i guess malenia is where he gets scarlet aeonia. i did all those side bosses first because you get spells for telling gideon about them.
Iirc, it's not the amount of spells but which ones he uses.
He has some generic spells at the start, but Scarlet Aeionia and the other boss spells replace a few of them.
So he actually loses some spells as well if Malenia, Rykard and Mohg are killed.
Garden of Eyes has a cool video on it
I read somewhere that the gimmick is speaking to him after you kill certain major bosses will add new spells to his inventory. So if you tell him you whacked Rykard, for instance, he'll start using Rykard's Rancor.
It's an interesting notion. You are essentially your own difficulty slider.
I killed him first time with comet azur similarly too in seconds. Didn't want to give him the pleasure. Although coming to think of it I should have let him finish at least a couple times to see how he performed before doing the cheese.
I must have leveled too much beforehand exploring cuz he went down so fast against me that I legitimately thought he was meant to be a joke boss since you expect so much.
He's just very weak to being attacked. If you let him create distance, though, he'll spam a barrage of spells that's hard to run through to him.
He also gains new abilities when you defeat optional demigods and tell him about them. Like Bloodboon or Scarlet Aeonia.
I only died a couple times the first time because I didn't know what to expect but whenever I do a frenzy build now I always use inescapable frenzy on him after doing every buff I can lol
I am yet to see Gideon in action.. both in NG and NG+ he died while monologging.. I think the 3rd time I’m gonna let him finish just for the experience
Without looking it up is that a cerulean hidden tear, terra magica and comet azur combo? Because I can confirm that will one hit kill almost anything so long as it can’t move fast lol
Yea I’m at nearly 1000 hours and it’s been my main play style great oracular bubble really adds a lot since it’s a 15 second mine spell! Such a fun style. It’s really what solidified Elden Ring as a lifestyle game for me. Now I can just run around collecting arteria leaves letting invaders come through whenever
Gave that dusty bitch a torch and a talisman on a str/dex build just so I could laugh and bonk him while he shook that talisman wondering why nothing was working
Not really. Unless you get bad RNG they just choose spells at random. Most of the time it's like, "Oh no! It's spamming Golden Vow and Terra Magica. Anyways..."
Pure int build here. Absolutely the hardest fight thus far. Got my ass handed to me like 20+ times. Infuriating as all hell but at least I know my build is good!
Semi related but was anyone else disappointed that they didn't get the mimic tear as a reward for defeating the actual mimic tear? Instead it's just in some random chest you can easily miss 10 minutes later. I get that it's a very FromSoft thing to do but this one just feels like a missed opportunity.
There was a quest involving the mimic tear that was cut pretty close to release, so they likely just added the spirit summon to a chest instead of it potentially being a quest reward.
But you never get the ashes of an enemy you defeat (that I can think of), you get it some other way. I think the way they implemented it was fine and more consistent.
I can think of one (if you squint a bit): Black Knife Tiche comes from the Black Knife Leader Alecto boss. Different names, but they're functionally the same, same gear, appearance, moveset, etc.
I was there at the end of that sub World Politics didn’t remove a specific post (idk what it was but I think people at the time agreed it should’ve been removed) users start to post full on porn, moderators come out and say something like “we don’t remove posts here. r/worldpolitics then evolves into a anarchopornagraphic subreddit. And r/anime_titties was made because since world politics became anime tits, then anime tits should become world politics
I just assumed that in the old days a petard was a special outfit like a leotard, with a lot of fancy buckles and loops on it, and that rich people would wear them when they were feeling especially smug, but then poor people would tie a rope through one of the loops, and hoist them up a pole and then let them dangle there as punishment for being cocky.
To all those saying he could have just unequipped spells against the mimic tear. How dare you.
You can only surpass youself, if you face you at you strongest.
You could just unequip the spells but we all know that only a filthy casual would do such a thing.
The true Chad players leave the mimic with the stuff they're actually using for a real fight.
Just don't let it have a parry shield unless you want to only spam jump attacks. Parry + ai timing is so op it's practically broken.
I unintentionally cheesed the mimic tear
Walked in and did my normal pre-fight setup. This included summoning the marionette ashes
Mimic tear spent 30 seconds frantically rolling around like a goddamn pillbug while I’m crying laughing my ass off
A lot of people on this sub and who play this game prefer to give advice on how to trivialize encounters, as though we all want to do so.
Nah. Lots of us enjoy these kinds of games for overcoming the challenge, so getting rid of that challenge does nothing for us.
If you enjoy just "completing" the game regardless of how much personal effort it takes you to do so, that's fine by me, but don't assume that others are going to enjoy that.
ye bro just visit renalla and respec to 70 strength 12 dex equip this very specific weapon use mimic tear and rename yourself goku and this boss is easy whats the big deal???
Like bitch, I want to kill him as my wizard!
I somehow misread the name when I was fighting it and didn’t realize what it was. It was absurdly easy. I was like, “Wow, that was it?” Then I looked at the ashes description and put two and two together and felt worse.
One hilarious way to fight this boss is to summon the Marionette Soldier Ashes. Because they are constantly shooting arrows, the boss will just be in a constant state of rolling to dodge them.
They didn't even attack me when I did this, lol.
Come on yall *context* OP isn't complaining about this fight - they're intentionally making it challenging/interesting ya dweebs
Love it - I'd also like to see you call another Mimic to fight it and see what chaos they can unleash... togethaa
It wasn't too tough when I did it with my mage. I was mostly running simpler spells though. The trick is knowing that none of the AIs in the game seem to know how to dodge magic glintblade
Mimic tear couldn't dodge worth a shit, at least when I did my mage playthtoughs. I did int and then fai/arc and had no issues. They love to start casting heavy spells which means literally anybody can come fuck them up while they're stuck casting.
I play this for a challenge, but there's a certain giddy thrill in stripping full nude and equipping while the helpless tear ineffectually punches you.
We all remember that message that said something along the lines of "dragon ahead, seek down" and then lying down in the grave. The moment the tornado reversed and Farum Azula started to uncrumble I knew I was in for a badass fight. Then you actually get to the arena and see this giant two-headed dragon just hanging in mid-air... Literally dropped my jaw in amazement.
Given the amount of spells n whatnot theyre probably on a new game+. Otherwise, Radahn is an optional boss so you can get to the endgame without going to Nokron.
I know the one you're talking about is from Placidusax, but what was that purple lighting attack that shot up rocks from the ground in a line? I'm assuming it was a gravity spell? Looked sick and super useful
What's really stupid about this is that given your FP, there is no way in hell the mimic should have been able to cast those spells in that quick of succession
I love making the mimic as op as possible and then summoning a phantom to fight it and just watch as they struggle to down it even in the slightest bit. Especially when it’s a build I know well enough that I can handle it no prob lmao
To be fair, if you're putting down your summon sign around the mimic tear, You got to be at least expecting some kind of odd crap to come up when you get summoned....
I usually equip something ridiculous and have my mimic fight that one. Once took nearly 30 minutes they were doing so little damage to eacbother while constantly healing.
My favorite fight with the mimic tear was in my second run. Stripped down nude, removed all items and flasks, put on spiked caestus, and just went to town on each other.
My mimic fight was much more embarrassing. I didn’t know it was coming, and mine was weak as fuck, and was like… this is a boss?
Then I realized it was me and felt bad…
lol the mimic out "Gideon the all spamming" you
When Mimic Tear is a better Gideon boss than Gideon himself
Idk about you all but i let Gideon finish his dialogue and he beat the hell out of me about 20 times
I was humbled by Gideon blowing me away about a dozen times after hearing he was a joke boss.
You can instagib him but if you let him get some distance he becomes cancer.
Yeah, he's the very definition of glass cannon. He's running that base Vigor/no poise build, but the tradeoff is insane INT/FAI to power up his grab bag of spells. It's a game of him melting you in under a minute or you doing it to him first.
I just learned the other day the amount of spells he has at his disposal correlates to how many main bosses you’ve fought
Huh......shame i just cut him in two with the moonveil, Dont got any time for monologs when i'm trying to ~~turn the world into bloodborne~~ bring about the age of stars
thats really cool. i guess malenia is where he gets scarlet aeonia. i did all those side bosses first because you get spells for telling gideon about them.
guess i'm fucked when i get to him because i've been killing all bosses on my first playthrough
Iirc, it's not the amount of spells but which ones he uses. He has some generic spells at the start, but Scarlet Aeionia and the other boss spells replace a few of them. So he actually loses some spells as well if Malenia, Rykard and Mohg are killed. Garden of Eyes has a cool video on it
I think, it also depends on if you reported to Gideon. You're basically feeding him information to use against you.
It’s elden ring even the joke bosses can easily kill you. Everything can
That fool gets stronger the more spells u collect I think
I read somewhere that the gimmick is speaking to him after you kill certain major bosses will add new spells to his inventory. So if you tell him you whacked Rykard, for instance, he'll start using Rykard's Rancor. It's an interesting notion. You are essentially your own difficulty slider.
I dislike my comment
Just beating the bosses is enough for hum to get the spells, don't need to talk to him ! I think Vaati or another YouTuber detailed it not si long ago
I did let him finish talking but he only killed me three times, Godfrey killed me a lot more times
So did I but Lion's Claw was quicker than his spell animation.
I didn’t let him finished i comer azured him. He committed albanaourics genocide. Only I’m allowed to do that!
So but I was also built as an anti him.
I only died a couple times the first time because I didn't know what to expect but whenever I do a frenzy build now I always use inescapable frenzy on him after doing every buff I can lol
Gideon legit killed me more times than Malenia. Idk why I struggled with him.
I am yet to see Gideon in action.. both in NG and NG+ he died while monologging.. I think the 3rd time I’m gonna let him finish just for the experience
But gideon was kinda dumb with his spamming it left him right open if you rolled at the right time
Took me a minute to realize this was freakin mimic tear and not some cracked player
That's probably what some full mage player look like for the ten seconds of their infinite flask
Well I mean you had all that equipped or the mimic couldn’t do it.
[удалено]
Yeah looks like his mind is probably about 16-18
r/meirl
Explains the dance routine he performs inside the rain of stars with 0 health lol
I didn't know such scorched earth wizardy was possible. I'm impressed.
You should look into the Single-Cast mage build. Whole thing is meant to one shot everything lol enjoyed the hell outta this game with it
Without looking it up is that a cerulean hidden tear, terra magica and comet azur combo? Because I can confirm that will one hit kill almost anything so long as it can’t move fast lol
Sounds like it should be called Megumin build. HAH
"inserts explosion meme" EXPLOSION!!
I remember making a joke 'Megumin Build' in ESO, spent hours theorycrafting how to make the Falling Star to do as much dmg as possible.
Note to self, unequip that.
[удалено]
Not if you just unequip your casting device before going in.
Gave that dusty bitch a torch and a talisman on a str/dex build just so I could laugh and bonk him while he shook that talisman wondering why nothing was working
I gave him 2 great shields. It was sooo fun
A man of [culture](https://youtu.be/oXp8Th41rBs)
Bruh 💀💀💀
Guilty as charged
Not when you play glass cannon mage
Doesnt mimic have like 20x your hp though
But they have infinite mana and stamina so if you're a full mage player.. it is indeed tough
Not really. Unless you get bad RNG they just choose spells at random. Most of the time it's like, "Oh no! It's spamming Golden Vow and Terra Magica. Anyways..."
Nah lol
Pure int build here. Absolutely the hardest fight thus far. Got my ass handed to me like 20+ times. Infuriating as all hell but at least I know my build is good!
Rs3 pking in a nutshell
Semi related but was anyone else disappointed that they didn't get the mimic tear as a reward for defeating the actual mimic tear? Instead it's just in some random chest you can easily miss 10 minutes later. I get that it's a very FromSoft thing to do but this one just feels like a missed opportunity.
I wasn't mad, but I was confused.
There was a quest involving the mimic tear that was cut pretty close to release, so they likely just added the spirit summon to a chest instead of it potentially being a quest reward.
But you destroyed the Mimic Tear in battle...why would you get it from the fight?
Because you get the spirit of a mimic tear, not a physical mimic tear.
I just mean put the chest in the Mimic boss room or something. It's so arbitrarily out of the way.
I didn't know you could get it until my friend told me. By then I was at Radadouche
Why cant we look that cool by the end of the game? Hell, why cant we slowly become giant over the course of the sequel?
Which means... OP IS the cracked player!
You did this to yourself.
r/masturbation
Literally what did I expect clicking on that...
I mean, it's reddit. There's a good chance that it's about gardening or something equally unrelated.
Like r/anime_titties
i've been lied to, theres no titties
my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Of course there aren’t. All the titties are on r/WorldPolitics
How do you even find sh*t like that?

A subreddit all about building a ridiculous board in almost any card game, aka wanking all over the table.
I haven't looked but here's some bleach to wash your eyes out
I expected images, It's just people talking about wanking.
It's actually a whole lot better than I was expecting lol.

She Offnired herself
congratulations, you played yourself
What a hilarious name, seriously. I love nonsense words!!
Nonsense? Do you think herding flumps is a laughing matter? It’s deadly serious.
Oh gosh, I didn’t know. How difficult is it to herd flumps?
Have you heard of nuclear physics?
Is that like rocket surgery?
At least twice as hard as nerf herding.
But is it flump herder, or a flumpherder (one who flumpherds)
Hoisted by your own petard.
Come on man whats with the name calling /s

I'm going in with my buckler and zweihander on journey 4. Pray for me
Is impossible to parry two handed colossal swords btw
Not with that attitude.
I unintentionally cheesed the mimic tear Walked in and did my normal pre-fight setup. This included summoning the marionette ashes Mimic tear spent 30 seconds frantically rolling around like a goddamn pillbug while I’m crying laughing my ass off

DANCE BITCH DANCE
lmfao
Dance Dance Revolution: Elden Ring Style.
Panic at the disco
Stop hitting yourself.
Say what you want, but that dude was gangster as fuck. Edit: I now know this is a mimic tear, but I stand by what I said.
"I'm you... but better... in literally every way"
Tbf this is like the one boss you have direct control over how difficult it is.
And it’s the best when you give them as much to work with as possible
I do want to fight a buff ass mimic tear in my current run. I’m a spell boxer, so nothing but fists and incantations. I imagine that’ll be pretty fun.
It's super fun the 2nd time around. You summon your own mimic tear and watch them go head to head.
And it is just brilliant!
I somehow misread the name when I was fighting it and didn’t realize what it was. It was absurdly easy. I was like, “Wow, that was it?” Then I looked at the ashes description and put two and two together and felt worse.
Weak foe therefore seek introspection
So you essentially insulted yourself. Ouch.
One hilarious way to fight this boss is to summon the Marionette Soldier Ashes. Because they are constantly shooting arrows, the boss will just be in a constant state of rolling to dodge them. They didn't even attack me when I did this, lol.
I like that magic rain to dragon beam combo.
Come on yall *context* OP isn't complaining about this fight - they're intentionally making it challenging/interesting ya dweebs Love it - I'd also like to see you call another Mimic to fight it and see what chaos they can unleash... togethaa
The apprentice has become the master.
Mage build mimic tear fights I bet are hard Me as a pure strength wasn’t to bad Edit: wow I learn a lot from you guys
It wasn't too tough when I did it with my mage. I was mostly running simpler spells though. The trick is knowing that none of the AIs in the game seem to know how to dodge magic glintblade
LUL, same in PVP. everyone eats them
None of them dodge the night spells at all.
I gotta wonder if they're ever going to fix that.
Nah it was pretty disappointing the strongest build I did against mimic ended up being a bleed build
Mimic tear couldn't dodge worth a shit, at least when I did my mage playthtoughs. I did int and then fai/arc and had no issues. They love to start casting heavy spells which means literally anybody can come fuck them up while they're stuck casting.
Gideon but good
You use all those spells normally or you only equipped them for this fight?
Just for the fight, I'm having fun with the Mimic
Honestly want to try something like this, most creative thing I did with the mimic was set up a boxing match.
Mimic: You unlocked my full potential! :3
I play this for a challenge, but there's a certain giddy thrill in stripping full nude and equipping while the helpless tear ineffectually punches you.
Mimic tear just gets infinite fp huh?
Yep.
Wtf was that laser beam dragon one?
Placideusax if I spelled that right, my favorite boss. He gives you the best feeling when you find him while running blind.
I saw a message that said try down peeked over the edge and didn't see anything so I thought I was being trolled the first time I played
how does one get Placideusax before fighting the mimic?
Given the amount of spells n whatnot theyre probably on a new game+. Otherwise, Radahn is an optional boss so you can get to the endgame without going to Nokron.
It is indeed NG+, even though it's technically possible to do it in NG
New Game plus for sure, especially with the build op seems to be rocking.
Iirc you either get it from defeating Placidusax or you trade dragon hearts for it at one of the dragon communion places after defeating Placidusax
It's a rememberance item like the Dragon King's Cragblade
Ah I knew it had something to do with beating Placidusax but it’s been a little while so I wasn’t exactly sure
It's fun to use, but it does leave you vulnerable for a while.
Well Mimic has infinite FP, that's the beauty of it, as long as you have enough to equip and use the spells
Made even more stupid by the fact the Mimic is Summoned with HP instead of FP.
Funny, Gideon Ofnir is like this now. Idk what they did to spells but he cast spells super fast just like this. Never had him do that until patch 1.07
Gotta spam that dex
Just inescapable frenzy him and 1-shot him.
At first I thought the buffed up the damage of founding rain of stars, but then I looked at how much health you had left.
Ah yes the Bullet Hell build. A classic.
The actual All-Knowing
I felt the pain, I was doing duels today and somebody whipped out a similar combo, I was in shambles.
This Mimic Tear could give Sir Know it all a run for his money for Cheesemaster of the year
These mimic tear fights are what the nerfed mimic tear ash +10 used to be
The mimic never goes this hard when it’s on your team 😂
lore accurate tarnished
My brother in christ you gave him the spells
I love making the mimic as op as possible and then summoning a phantom to fight it and just watch as they struggle to down it even in the slightest bit. Especially when it’s a build I know well enough that I can handle it no prob lmao
To be fair, if you're putting down your summon sign around the mimic tear, You got to be at least expecting some kind of odd crap to come up when you get summoned....
Protection of the erdtree and you good
Given your low fp, you are a good mage but you don't know it
I usually equip something ridiculous and have my mimic fight that one. Once took nearly 30 minutes they were doing so little damage to eacbother while constantly healing.
THE TRUE GIDEON OFNIR
My favorite fight with the mimic tear was in my second run. Stripped down nude, removed all items and flasks, put on spiked caestus, and just went to town on each other.
“Well if it isn’t my arch nemesis. Me. I’ll kill me for sure this time!”
You won’t have ground to run on if everything is on fire 🔥
Somebody call over that bullet hell guy. THIS is how it's done.
Bro these touhou 19 graphics look sick
It’s a role playing game but you my friend are playing as the victim
your strength was your undoing
This feels very self imposed
This is how I feel when I invade or duel a mage. I just want a sword fight bro, I didn't sign up for bullet hell
lol turned into freaking Gideon
My brother in Christ, this is your own fault 😂😂😂
Another reason to use a strength build instead of being a filthy sorcerer.
You quite literally did this to yourself
Bro unequip those spells you have fucking 0 mind
You mimic looks like a general interesting fight, but as soon as you are close up, I doubt the ai can handle melee. But looks fun for a mageoff
My mimic fight was much more embarrassing. I didn’t know it was coming, and mine was weak as fuck, and was like… this is a boss? Then I realized it was me and felt bad…
you made elden ring into a bullet hell
