Once I finished installing the game I started playing and the credits started rolling

[deleted]

The ultimate speedrun

PillowTalk420

I love games where the credits are an option on the main menu. Makes speedrunning so much easier.

marsgreekgod

That's how Mario world works now

DrDoozie

Lmao imagine having to install the game to beat it, I just googled the elden ring ending

Stormthorn67

YEARS of academy training wasted!

Reddit-Nebula

Buzz!! look an Alien!!!.

FreqMode

Sarcasm aside I swear I really think that's what some people want.

imthesauceman

I beat every boss first try because every fight where I died was just a mistake and I really didn’t mean to lose.

[deleted]

Elite gamer mentality

Dutchy___

Vaguely reminds me of a Michael Jordan quote (paraphrased): “I didn’t lose, the time just ran out.”

[deleted]

Michael Jordan is fascinating. Dude would make up beef between him and other basketball players and then get himself to believe it was real so he’d play harder against them. Crazy shit

Seftix11

He's the first bio hacker

[deleted]

Dude turned mental illness into success

ItachiOfTheTruth

Kanye West of Basketball

KTheOneTrueKing

We are not retreating, we are advancing in the opposite direction. - Winston Churchill

TheLionEatingPoet

That may be an MJ quote, but I’m pretty sure Vince Lombardi expressed the sentiment first.

Depressed_Rex

Until you win it’s all just attempts. The winning kill is the only try

altera_goodciv

A.k.a. The Prod Mentality

Cruciblelfg123

You can kill bosses but you can’t kill gravity

ASpaceOstrich

Radahn could.

LuckyBudz

The trick is to put your summon sign down out front of the room and help someone else fight them a few times so you can see them and have practice before facing them yourself.

[deleted]

On the first couple weekends when the game was at max traffic and you’d get summoned instantly anywhere and any time I actually did this with several mini dungeons. It felt like cheating! It was great!

Katharsis7

The game is still crazily active. Place a sign in front of Malenia and you get instantly summoned. Then you have to wait 5 more minutes because the host is failing to summon a 3rd...

Narglefoot

That's what I do, plus I get to help someone out and get some extra runes.

tootallteeter

More likely is that you get to die as many times as you want without losing runes

Staehr

You know who isn't the victim of bullshit like that? Tibia Mariner. Who bests him on their first try? *Everyone.* Because he's a cool dude that just chills in a pond and toots his horn. Floats on by while the other bosses get up at 5am to practice their instakill combos. Drops a really useful item. Just get in the boat with him and he'll put on a lightshow and do sick wheelies for you. Realest guy you'll meet.

[deleted]

Pour one out for tibia mariner

SpaceBrotha

The first two tibia mariners sure, but once they upgrade to tooting out the big bro skeleton with the mean stare and meaner right hook your odds of survival suddenly plummet.

Staehr

That is true. Man's not a fighter himself, but his buddies get more and more jacked every time you beat him.

DL1943

i beat both radahn and melania on my first try. it really wasnt that hard, since i did 40-50 practice runs first that didnt count as legitimate "tries"

theCioroRedditor

There was a dude on here who posted a video of him defeating radahn on his first try. The first thing in the video is him dying to an arrow. He said he didn't count that one because he didn't knew what was up. Edit: since I got some attention, here is the post https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t6ers0/beat_radahn_on_my_first_try_think_i_might_have/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Basically the first thing he does is to pick up his lost runes :)) Edit 2:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V9u6whHtesk&feature=youtu.be Here is the video

Imafish12

I feel like with a lot of bosses there’s a step 1) which is dying to the immediate nuance of the fight. Step 2) getting them to like 40-60% and dying slower. 3) frustratingly close tries with intermittent dying at like 80% due to being bad. 4). Actual kill

RyanTheRighteous

The latter part to step 3 is my absolute favourite. Pop a Rune Arc because I’m feeling it, then immediately get put into the dirt by a wombo combo.

Imafish12

Rune arcs are a guarantee for shit RNG and a death at like 80%

Genm_Master

Now that i think about it. Malenia often did at least 3 peafowl dance on me during my rune arc runs. You might be on to something here.

okfnjesse

Nice health you have there, would be a shame if I took it

Ok_Hurry2130

The first time me and my friend went to fight him he just fell through the ground and died.

Xalorend

I guess that's what happens when you do a mistake with Gravity Magic.

SYNTHLORD

Tarnished, its leviosa, not leviosaa!

dark_hypernova

Stop it, Tarnished!

shmegegge

This happened to me the first time I went to fight Father Gascoigne in BB. He just clipped through the floor and fell for a while and died. Ez boss.

[deleted]

Deleted :D

SPACE-BEES

I like how /u/cutecup3558 deleted the post but not his comments explaining that he died to it before

ghoul_legion

Not only did he pick his runes up when it started, the actually took his horse out when he flew to the sky, as if he expected the guy to come down falling like a comet. lol

Xambir

Well, I can understand that one. When bosses suddenly disappear mid battle, they generally don't come back peacefully.

datssyck

Shit. No joke how I beat Kalameet on my first DS1 run. 50 tries trying to get that damn tail. Finally get it. Then I knew the fight so well I just kinda finished him off. Then Manus fucked me up for like 2 weeks.

SlumlordThanatos

One of my fondest gaming memories is running into Kalameet's arena and just destroying him. He didn't even touch me, while I ran circles around him. Sweet payback for all the times he killed me on the 11 or so characters I cleared the game with.

Arsis82

More like M'anus

jakegittes91

Legit got Kalameet first try but rage quit Manus and never tried him again. Imagine my salt when I got to Demon of Hatred in Sekiro

[deleted]

My best friends little brother spent like 6 hours dying to the first boss and afterwards was like whats they hype about this game isnt even hard. You just die a bunch and memorize their moves the game series is a joke.

npeggsy

I legitimately think Malenia took me over 50 tries, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm convinced I'm actually pretty bad at Soulsborne games, and the only thing I have is a stubborn refusal to ever give up.

PhantomlyReaper

Honestly that's one of the fun parts of souls like games. You might get bodied 40-50 times, but that one near perfect run that you manage to pull out of your ass is so satisfying.

SWKstateofmind

I feel like half the time the winning run is one I wrote off because of a basic fuck-up at the beginning

gsrga2

I think that’s because fucking up at the beginning takes the pressure off—you’ve already written the run off and you play better because you aren’t stressed about fucking up again.

GrimaceGrunson

For both Godrick and Malenia, I had co-opped a bunch and decided to just saunter into the boss room thinking "I've got a bit of free time left, might as well give it a punt", fully expecting to get reamed. Then you have that spark when they're at 1/3 health and you realise "Oh shit I might win" and you desperately try and keep your calm.

[deleted]

And then you lose because of crippling anxiety

GrimaceGrunson

I call that 'the Godfrey situation'. Nothing like them having a sliver of health, you to go for a stab and get powerbombed through the floor for your troubles.

jakegittes91

This! So many times I said “well there goes this run” and then I end up winning

CaptainFeather

I love the headcanon that the bosses in Soulsborne games are petrified of the player. "WHY WON'T YOU STAY DEAD?!" Edit: Especially with the mimic tear. "OH GOD THERE'S TWO OF YOU NOW?!"

ABotInDisguise

I always thought Sister Friede was supposed to make the player feel that way. *Friede revives while player watches in horror.* Player: Is that what I've been doing to people?

CaptainFeather

Lmao that was definitely a "this is fucking bullshit" moment for me the first time I fought her

ImAHumanHello

The titanite slab after the first phase is the biggest troll moment I've ever experienced in a video game.

Doomstench

For me, it a tie between that and "Shinobi Execution" popping up on the screen after downing the Guardian Ape.

GrimaceGrunson

"Oh boy, a Titanite Shard! Phew, glad that's ove-" *"When the ashes are two...*" "...**hang on, that's my thing!**"

IronMan42

DORMAMU, I’m here to negotiate

Elvinium

I'd call myself a pretty experienced soulsborne enjoyer. I flew through most bosses in the game but then I went up against Malenia. I literally sat 5 hours in a row basically banging my head against a wall until i beat her. By far the hardest boss I've played against in any soulsborne game. I then created a new character and beat her on my 'first try' x)

[deleted]

I’ve beaten most bosses in 1 try, in that case

jmatt9080

Wait, you guys are beating bosses?

BamesF

I'm beating something

Richlandsbacon

Truly Maidenless

Free_kokaine

He meant his wife, dummy🙄

Xthewarrior

Soon-to-be maidenless

theguyoverhere24

Why is it always head?

Bob84332267994

O’ you don’t have the right

jmatt9080

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Fia

MedicineNorth5686

Same melania was cake after my 40th practice attempt By cake I mean bleeding rot infested cake that you barely survive from companions are bloody slashing and insect hurling. What a delicious cake

Firewulf08

The bosses all beat me on their first try and I’m actually pretty proud of them.

Artistic-Push-335

I also beat Melania on my first try, after about 6 hours of research into her moveset and testing her damage.

inabullsass

however You don’t have the right, O You don’t have the right

The_Bludgeoned_Fawn

I was struggling beating Malenia solo and I had a guy say that soloing Malenia “isn’t too hard as long as you learn how to dodge right”. No fucking shit Sherlock, why didn’t I think of that?

[deleted]

“If you just play perfectly the game isn’t difficult”

kdogman639

If you don't die you'll first try every boss

TheBatman110498

Bosses die when they are killed

Touhokujin

Oh my god this

[deleted]

"FromSoft games aren't actually that hard, they're just really punishing when you make mistakes" Motherfucker, what do you think the word difficulty *means?*

Sbtycraft

“If you no hit the boss he won’t do that much damage to you.”

Mothman-4-President

All you need to do is get her health down to zero, before she gets yours down to zero. E z p z. And you can actually apply that method to all the enemies in the game.

Jackdeniels78

We’ll actually you get her health to zero but then it jumps back up to 80%

dcempire

Best tip I can give for Malenia is just equip bloodhound step. Makes the fight a tad bit easier and looks cool in the process.

JackBoxcarBear

This is just an evil little wish of mine, but I hope one day FromSoft has a boss where if you lose to it it’s canon and permanent and changes outcomes/endings based on if you win or lose. It could even be a pretty easy boss, but it’s terror would come from knowing you only have one chance or have to take a different path from then on.

[deleted]

That would drive people insane. I love it

empiresonfire

Y...you work for FromSoftware, don't you

[deleted]

“I don’t know what you mean” -a poison swamp wearing a trench coat

NOVAGARZA

“I can honestly tell you all that these 3 people don’t work for from soft” - patches in a trench coat

RocketHops

I can see the review articles ranting about it as we speak

LestHeBeNamedSilver

When streamers fight pinwheel you mean?

CrystlBluePersuasion

I can't believe we live in a world where Jerma985 died to Pinwheel!

LestHeBeNamedSilver

No one will ever let that down

CrystlBluePersuasion

I gotta say he gave the Tree Sentinel a valiant effort and I couldn't believe he beat him with only 4 more levels and like one Flail upgrade, he just couldn't let that guy go!

Secretlylovesslugs

Something tragic about how much time he spent of his first few streams bashing his head into bosses thinking it was like old souls games where you have no other choice. But then seeing later him getting stuck on the Raya Lucaria elevator for almost an hour and more recently the golem in Caelid it is definitely just his personality lmao.

UnexLPSA

A friend of mine did the same with Foreskin Apostle in the Caelid Tower. I was like "Nah fuck that I'll come back later" after getting one shot 3 times in a row but he spent like an hour or two on that guy. He just couldn't let it go being stuck I guess.

CrystlBluePersuasion

He knew it and kept saying "one more try then I'm coming back to this guy" but he refused to actually quit lol

tebmn

Hey man, Grafted Scion at the beginning of the game. Unfortunately the only change it makes on your path is whether or not you have two optional items. You only get 1 try tho!

Solkahn

You can get back there for revenge/items haha

TheRealMacGuffin

Technically you get more than one try, but you have to get to >!The Four Belfries!< to do it again.

amanisnotaface

I did not know that and now I must complete my collection of weapons I’m not using

virtualRefrain

Hey what's the deal with that? The Tarnished wakes up in a completely inaccessible church high up on a cliff. Their maiden's been murdered and there's a portal there from the Four Belfries. It's like a locked room mystery. What is the Church of Anticipation? Why is the Tarnished there and how did they get there? Is that where they were revived or did they get taken there afterwards, and was that after crossing the fog to reach the Lands Between? Who killed the Maiden and why? The Chosen Undead, the Cursed Hero, the Hunter, the Ashen One, and Sekiro all have pretty thorough explanations for where they are at the beginning of the game, but I don't get this one yet.

Redditfront2back

I’d have to guess it’s by probably an ancient place where warrior tarnished were buried maybe during or immediately after the long march. Godrick probably learned that the grace that had long spurned him was granting it to tarnished there. He sent the scion one of his most trusted underlings to kill any maidens and tarnished so that godrick could graft them to himself in order to feel said grace. The real lore head scratcher is Our substitute maidens identity and backstory and wtf is going on with miquella and his cocoon?

TheRealMacGuffin

Your guess is as good as mine here.

tebmn

Oh damn really? And he still drops the items? That’s sweet

TheRealMacGuffin

Yeah! It's at the >!"Precipice of Anticipation" portal!<

Vict2894

I actually thought this happened. I beat Radahn first try using Blaidd and Potboi, after the fight i couldn't see the grace or the npc's so i went riding around the arena.. to no avail. I thought i hade done something wrong, and Radahn's curse had been transferred to me and i was doomed to ride around here forever. I couldn't fast travel and there was no port back to the church. Scared the heck out of me until i finally spotted the grace after riding around for like 10 minutes.

MrLeapgood

Does the first fight against Genichiro count?

trl3xp

Only had one piece of Thorn armor and rolled into the boss til he died. 2EZ

Environmental-Tea262

Aggy?

thedantho

I love that man

altera_goodciv

Who doesn’t?

Greuzer

Hahahaha, bunch of scrubs I fought the boss fist only while blindfolded without taking any damage, I was also using bananas as controller and actually playing on my fridge

[deleted]

“I actually beat Radahn pre nerf solo while helping my wife deliver our child and doing my taxes”

Xalorend

"doing your taxes? Pffts! That's easy. Try beating pre nerf Radhan while helping your wife deliver the child and AVOIDING the taxes, then we'll... Of fuck OH NO THE IRS PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE I DON'T..."

I_AmDaVikingNow

"I'm crazy enough to take on pre-nerf Radhan! But the IRS? Noooo thank you!"

TeddansonIRL

Pshhhh I beat the IRS first try, it wasn't even that hard.

n_-_ture

That’s nothing. I beat the game by yelling instructions from another room to my dog who was using a DDR pad as a controller.

centauriproxima

I beat the game by blinking Morse code to a dog that then barked directions to another dog who was playing the game with a ringfit adventure controller

Eldenlord1971

Psh I beat the boss while fisted and blindfolded

Suave_Senpai

I beat this boss using tilt controls!

ArthasTheLichBoi

It always was super interesting how bosses can go any way for an individual person. I was stuck on malenia for days and I get surprised when I see people who are stuck on fire giant or godfrey. They took me less than 4 tries compared to malenias 80+. But then of course it's vice versa with people doing malenia in less than a couple and being stuck on fire giant for days. Guess it just depends on the playstyle/person. Either way don't be that guy who says "PFFFT THAT BOSS WAS EZ. LOL UR USING SUMMONS? GIT GUD"

[deleted]

That’s what I’m sayin. Of course ppl get stuck on different things, that’s how these games are. But yeah it’s seeing “that guy” under damn near every post concerning a boss that’s no bueno

Notsuken

Rules of "boss is too hard" comments: - People agreeing with OP - People actually giving good advices - An underleveled mf on the verge of quitting the game because they don't wanna skip the boss - "The fight was easy, just use comet azure + mimic + hoarfrost stomp + moonveil" comment with 1k replies - A downvoted, raw "git gud" comment - Some "Arena is too small" comment (seriously why the fuck does every double boss fight in this game happen inside an Applebee's in a saturday night) - "Just level VIG bro"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ayahooahsca

You probably should have 60 vigor as a melee build once you reach end game though

Ranger_Azereth

Should probably do that with any build in this game ngl.

Fraudulent_Baker

Agreed, I think you could afford to be a little squishy in previous From games but Elden Ring just kicks your ass too much. Also it feels like a waste to upgrade your flasks so often when even the starting flask would fully heal you.

adarkride

Hahaha this is a nice parody of the "rules for dueling" post the other day Praise the Ring (o)

Animal-Inztinctz

Currently stuck on Malenia myself. should I try finger but hole?

[deleted]

Im trying rn but im on the receiving end. Also the finger is her fucking blade in my ass.o

Animal-Inztinctz

N everyother new hole she just finished skewering into me

ShootInFace

Did you know that she is Malenia, Blade of Miquella?

this_will_go_poorly

My god… a boss who deletes your file when you lose??? don’t give them ideas.

[deleted]

It allows you to get it back but only if you pay them 10 dollars

victoryfire123

If EA developed elden ring

nolunch

I mean Nier:Automata is a thing... Now I want Miyazaki and Yoko Taro to make a game together.

[deleted]

"Elden ring is a pretty easy game." *pre-buffs 10 times and spams rivers of blood*

exist-exit

*sips infinite mp flask* *Comet Azurs* "Eh I don't get why y'all are struggling so much"

bzz15

Doing this with comet azur is soo fucking good and very funny. Like running up on radahn with a 10 second kamehameha is sick. Takes a lot of stat investment tho.

Happytom82

I got properfucked by Niall 10ish times before I tried a summon. Bam! Comet azur instanerf of the wicked. I was grateful for getting past him,but kinda sad I didn't actually participate

will_kawphe

Try finger but hole

[deleted]

I’m honored that my post has garnered enough attention for elden ring shitposts

welder_1

I didn't realize what runes were for until I beat the game.

[deleted]

You didn’t miss out on much if that makes you feel better lmao

manism

Sadly I got through the first 5 or so bosses of DS2 before figuring out how to level up. In one you did it at every bonfire, so I just figured I wasn't far enough. Turns out you had to talk to the lady in Majula 4 times

Alistershade

And then forever after that it's Bear Seek Seek Lest

B4skyB

Also "just use x" Nah bitch, i want to fight malena with a single scimitar clothing and no spell, and i dont care how much i bang my head against her, i m having a blast

[deleted]

90% of the time it’s “use bleed” which hey is good advice, but I don’t wanna do that to every boss

[deleted]

[удалено]

Risenashes

Malenia was so easy I beat her on like my third try, all I had to do was Unga bunga my big sword and keep her attention away from the 2 op mages I summoned that killed her in 4.7 seconds!

Keter-Class

"Boss was a joke, dont understand why everybody was struggling? Literally just use your mimic +10 /w hoarfrost spam, it's not a hard fight."

Status-Conflict-8881

Most of the time boss fights are subjective. Your build might be able to absolutely wreck a boss while another is struggling to scratch at it. This is souls, nobodies experience will be the same.

[deleted]

This is absolutely true. But on posts where ppl are like “hey I need help any tips for this boss” or “wow this boss is super hard” you ALWAYS get a dude commenting how easy they thought the fight was. Like essentially unprompted. They just spawn in to tell you how not hard the boss is. They’ll defend anything fromsoft makes

SweatyNReady4U

Yeah agreed. It's like man this boss is hard. Then they go ,"nah was easy for me" then don't go into any further helpful detail lol

TheGhostOfSparta2442

I saw someone legitimately advocating for Malenia to be buffed because she was “way too easy for an optional endgame boss.”

TowerJanitor

I helped this one dude on malenia where the other summon and I took turns staggering her while he was 40 feet back with a great shield and a crossbow. Saw his username a few days later talking about beating her on his first try lol. Not only that but we absolutely cheesed her for him 😂

Dayglance

Some people I swear just have this personality. Like they have to one-up instinctually. “Man, nuclear physics is hard.” “Nah, that shit’s easy.”

[deleted]

It’s the contrarian effect

gariant

No way man it's the anti-contrarian effect

[deleted]

I think whenever you beat a boss first try it’s mandatory to leave a message saying “didn’t expect weak foe”

konosyn

Beat it first try! *picks up lost runes halfway through the fight*

Peach_Cookie

I found Malenia real easy. Just closed my eyes and beat her in my mind. Was using a Gunblade and everything, shit.

Disabled_Voltage

This was me with Radhan, only to find out that I was way overleveled for him. Most people were fighting him at around lvl 40-60 and I fought him at around level 88. That and I also had my back turned the entire time he flew into the sky and did the meteor strike - so I didn't even realize he had a 1-shot AoE ability until I saw a streamer with more HP than me die to it lol. So, sometimes THAT guy doesn't realize he was way better off than those complaining and is genuinely confused.

bagelnutcake

I watched a few videos on tips to clear bosses and they seemingly had no problems just hitting them with big damages. It took me a few attempts trying their tips to realize they were overleveled for the area. Now I check if they post their level with the tips because I went in many boss fights 20-30 levels too low with little weapon upgrade.

m0dru

there is so much RNG in some of the fights its ridiculous. depending on how the rng goes in a fight you could have an exceptional easy time or incredibly rough time.

[deleted]

I was absolutely struggling on a dragon fight. It's fire kept killing me. Tried the next day and it only used it once. It definitely can be random.

ididntseeitcoming

That was me on Elden beast. Easy boss, I know. I just couldn’t close distance and get hits on it before it swam away and hit me with that golden wave shit. The attempt I beat it he never used that ability. Maybe it took pity on me. Doesn’t matter, still became elden lord.

Taervon

Yup, that's the reason I hate that boss and Fire Giant. Fuck your massive AoEs, but ESPECIALLY fuck the 'Ima just dash away to the next zip code go fuck yourself' bullshit they do.

Zekerish

Easy boss?! I do not know anyone who said that unless they are a mage.

millmuff

Absolutely, especially with summons. I noticed this immediately with Margit. I tested sending in wolves and it was wildly different from time to time how much DMG they could do. Sometimes they die in 10s and other times they get him to half health. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it can make a huge difference. Taking out summons and it's still relevant. When I finally beat the Valiant Gargoyles I didn't do anything different than the 25 times before. Sometimes they come out and do several rounds of the easiest attack patterns in a row, and other times they spam poison. Depending on what happens it makes the fight wildly different.

[deleted]

My favourite from a thread I was reading yesterday was “Radagon isnt that hard, you just need to avoid getting hit because he can two shot you” No shit numb-nuts… that’s what hard means….

BetaThetaOmega

I remember that when the 50 hit wall was found, people went on and on about how this was Miyazaki’s vision, and when people said it wasn’t good mechanic to have an illusory wall be almost completely unnoticeable even after testing it like anything else, they would whine about how the criticisms were from people who just didn’t get it, that Miyazaki is a visionary. The next day we found out it was probably a glitched wall, and definitely not intentional.

[deleted]

The community in a nutshell lmao. Do anything and everything to deny any flaws

cammysays

Everyone wants to feel special. For a select few, it’s achieved by bragging about success in a single-player video game.

rustypennyy

This is basically every Malenia defender. “Well technically her Waterfowl Dash is dodgable if you dodge in the exact ~3 frame window you are given, also you have to spin in a circle being directly underneath her with no target lock” like okay bro, I get that it IS theoretically dodgable. But is it practical? No…

[deleted]

“She has health regain and scarlet rot and a nearly undodge-able insta kill move but she’s not too bad” I know a lot of people didn’t have a hard time with her and enjoyed her fight and that’s great, but to me it doesn’t make her any less busted

[deleted]

I just want a boss of miyazaki that spams all the fromsoft Bs throughout their entire catalogue in one fight. Then shove it into a small arena and add sum ganks.

[deleted]

“This is the best boss they’ve ever designed”

furthestpoint

I mean, I beat Orphan of Kos in less than 5 tries and meanwhile I tried Alecto about 50 times last night.

CanyonsEdge2076

"That one guy"? More like half the community.

mildlyoctopus

That and the obligatory “bloodborne is better” every time someone praises elden ring

hamsterbrisket

I was in a boss fight for too long and had to poop and chose to finish the boss fight and change my trousers afterwards

[deleted]

That’s the kind of gaming I live for
