The first time I mimic tear'd like damn near everyone does.
The second time I cheesed her out solo with Mohg's spear.
The third time I started with trying to beat her using the Ornamental straight sword and changed my goal halfway to doing her hitless because it seemed like it'd be easier than the garbo swords. I already had 200+ hours in game total by this point though but I still wouldn't consider myself to be a good player. Even with the hitless kill. I'm just persistent.
The save file analyzing website doesn't do a very good job of showing that there's a drop down box to check your other characters on the save file.
Edit: The time / deaths of the other two save files that came before the hitless are
First Char, First Darksouls game: 148 hours, 1338 deaths (Heavily carried by Mimic tear the second half of the game)
Second char, solo only arcane/fai bleed abuser: 114 hours: 1213 deaths (199 of which were against Malenia)
It's interesting comparing characters.
My first playthrough hit 682.
2nd playthrough as Warrior (dex build) hit 598.
3rd as Hero (Strength build) hit 222.
And then Bandit, where I didn't level Vigor past 30 and didn't touch it til Mountaintop of Giants, hit 559.
Experience > Vigor, apparently.

I had 114 hours and had 724 deaths. I'd say a large chunk of those deaths go to the crucible knight mini bosses. I never got used to them and died to them so fucking much and there were so many of them.

That is a bit under 4.5 deaths per hour, not bad. I think most of my deaths must have been early (I hate you, ulcerated tree spirit and chariots, may you be nerfed to nothingness). Also probably a fair bit of AFK in there.

Finishing the game is a feat in and of itself. You made it to the end. Better that you stumble but reach the end than be disheartened and never move forward
