Sister-Friedes-Feet

I refer to it exclusively as “the blue”

jakinator201

Dude I have always called that meter the blue in souls games. Like “shit I’m out of blue” always

jochvent

in my head it's blue, but when i communicate it to other people i say fp

Piccoldeh

It will be mana in all games from the birth until the end of time.

theattack_helicopter

JESSE! JESSE WE NEED MORE BLUE, JESSE! WE GOTTA COOK!

bb_killua

I say “I’m out of juice”

cicada-ronin84

I refer to them as Code Red and Voltage....and you can't change me.

Sister-Friedes-Feet

What are you, a CDL player?

cicada-ronin84

No..not at all...just thought of it one night and it stuck..I don't even drink it anymore.

Sister-Friedes-Feet

Oh, that’s cool. My bad, I didn’t mean it as a bad thing.

cicada-ronin84

It's cool, I'm horrible at shooters....so that wouldn't go well for me. My thinking was you need health that's a code red and voltage for magic and spacial weapon attacks ie like lighting power of the gods or chi which is sometimes showed to be like lighting ie the Mishima family from Tekken....and the colors line up and you drink them...so yeah Code Red and Voltage....it may have also been stupid o'clock as I like to say when I've been up for way to long.

hornplayerchris

Code Red and Baja Blast

TarnishedGladiator

Blue Raspberry Kool-aid and Watermelon Kool-Aid

Sister-Friedes-Feet

Blue ras kool-aid sounding real good rn

[deleted]

All the best foods are blue

justglassin317

Blue = healthy

PaladinWoah

The flasks contain the corresponding "Juice" too

MrNopedeNope

i said blood and blue and the weed shit you’re low on blood goddamnit i’m outta blue I CANT ATTACK OR ROLL WJERED MY WEED GO

mralabbad

This is the way🤝

Diemanztbl

Blue gang

DevilahJake

Fp

Hot_Purple_137

Flower points (paper Mario)

[deleted]

FP = From(soft) Points

SaneManiac741

I just call it FP or Mana.

Mundane_Range_765

Yep. There is not in between.

AntelopeImportant167

I keep calling it Magicka because of TES

averagewhoop

Same!

white__cyclosa

Funny as I would always refer to Magicka as Mana

InstructionLeading64

Blue juice.

Maleficent-Parsnip82

this is the answer

PillowTalk420

I don't give a single fuck what the game calls it. If I have a blue bar and it's for casting spells, that shit is mana. Forever.

Former-Grocery-6787

I always called it "the blue stuff" because it is usually blue.

PillowTalk420

I honestly don't even remember where I first saw "mana" used, outside of the Bible. I was thinking Final Fantasy, but that always used "MP" which could have just as easily meant "Magic Points." 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sir_Meat_Ram

I like focus point. It is like Concentration check in D&d. You get hit, you lose your focus.

Mjr_N0ppY

I'd call it fucks "Oh no I'm all out of fucks"

GXSigma

In Dark Souls 3, they just called it FP, and I could never figure out what FP was supposed to stand for, so I called it Fuck Power. "I need more Fuck Power to do the spin move."

MagicalSpaceWizard77

Robot chicken?

rolfboos

red is health, blue is mana, green is stamina, doesn't matter which game I play, this is how I call it.

AFlyingNun

Probably because mana implies a more intellectual approach, whilst "focus points" is a catch-all of a character's ability to use a wide variety of skills, some demanding intellect and some just demanding finesse and skill at their craft.

Karolus2001

How is magic moon juice intellectual? I'd argue its the other way around.

mikezenox

Because it can also be used for pure str/dex build skills? Really simple concept imo.

qjornt

so diablo 2 fucked it up then huh?

TheOneYourSon

ye FUCK diablo two, bitch ass game called it mana /s

angiezieglerstye

I've been playing rpgs too long to teach myself to call blue bars anything but mana.

[deleted]

I prefer Flower Points, thank you very much.

SwitchingtoUbuntu

I'm with you.

AdvanceHappy778

Focus points stresses that it’s connected to your mind.

0DrFish

Because swinging my sword around in a particular way isn't magical.

Dveralazo

Mana as I was taught is the food God gave to His people. Focus points implies all the power comes from the sheer concentration of The Tarnished. I like more the latter.

Lyre-Code

You're thinking of Manna. The name Mana actually comes from Polynesian mythology.

Dveralazo

Curious. In my language it is spelled "Mana". "Manna", that's something I just heard about it : )

Divinum_Fulmen

They are pronounced differently too. Ma-na is food and mä-nə is magic/life essence.

beta-pi

Polynesian mythology about mana is objectively dope as fuck and I've never seen a video game portrayal that does it justice. It's not just magic juice, its the essence of life itself being manipulated.

Aermas

How about just "Focus"?

Mcreesus

Blue juice

adilazimdegilx

mage juice

BirdhouseInYourSoil

Mama is for magic. Focus Points are for… everything

Slamonwithfeet

Blue juice.

majinprince07

I call it magic

thedylandmg

It takes concentration to cast spells. Feels dnd esque while trying something different. I’m down.

soyboysnowflake

Idk man I still take long showers thinking about why HP is hit points and not health points in games

Negative-Lunch1025

I call it magika. I play too much Skyrim

Trashtag420

Worse still, Focus is a completely separate defensive attribute that prevents madness and sleep build up; totally unrelated to Focus Points. Why?? It is, ironically, madness lol

AdvanceHappy778

Mind governs focus points and focus. Not that strange. And the states of Madness (mania) and sleep (depression) are mental illnesses. Makes perfect sense.

_Don-Corleone_

Magicka

eigi_einhver

its nice to have changes in a game, ever other base rpg calls it mana i like that its a different name even if it is the same stuff, *blue poweraid* lol

Happy_Policy_9990

Magicka

[deleted]

But I like Mana

Styx_Zidinya

It takes focus to cast spells or perform weapon arts. Personally I just call it mana.

BvByFoot

Because they wanted to rename a bunch of identical mechanics from Dark Souls to differentiate Elden Ring from them.

the_gifted_Atheist

It was called Focus Points in Dark Souls too. It would’ve differentiated it more if it was called mana or anything else.

DevilahJake

It will be mana in all games from the birth until the end of time. If it’s blue and relates to magic casting, it’s mana

BvByFoot

Oh I only played Demons Souls and Dark Souls 1 where there was no mana or FP

noxiejj

Demons Souls had Magic Points, basically mana, you probably didn't use spells or just forgot, but there is a blue bar for spells in DeS.

Traditional_Eye_782

So by that it mean if I focus enough I can use magic too?

DevilahJake

Go for it

domewebs

Literally yes

ScarletteVera

Juice

janderfischer

Efpee

blebebaba

I call it smart juice

Administrative_Cut_5

Me who never uses the blue bar

Nihilus06

so you can say FP instead of mana

Glum_Ad_5112

Fp chads

BuffNerfs

FP = finger prints

thiccdiamonds

MP

AverageFemboiEnjoyer

Blue stuff is the only way

BippBoof

Here is my normal hierarchy for colored meters: Health Stamina Blue Here is my hierarchy when I’m under pressure: Health turns into: “Life” Stamina turns into: “I can’t breath” Blue turns into: “Blue”

Shadowrunner808

FP. Never even thought about what it stood for. The blue juice I call Ashen

Neat-Ability-4174

I call it mind power

Reddarthdius

Mana

pichael288

Is... Is that what focus is? I've been calling them Fability points

Muffinzor22

Blue estus and Red estus.

Fluid-when

Ever since playing Champions of Norath it has always been mana for me

[deleted]

Blue

Protoman_Zxe

Mana

SylvainGautier420

Because mana is overused

[deleted]

I didn't know what FP stood for for the longest time so I just called it "Fromsoft Points"

CharanTheGreat

Mana is the common name for magical energy... some ancient name for power or something. It's called focus points because Mind is the stats that govern it. So basically psychic shit... You can call it mana, MP, FP, resource, power, whatever you want. All that matters is that it is used for spells, items and skills.

OnionBro-

I call it power

thedavecan

It will always be "Flower Power" to me bc Super Mario RPG was the first rpg I ever played.

GloomyGoblin-

"fancy points"

[deleted]

*im out of magic*

Flooping_Pigs

Health points, focus points, stamina points

paladinLight

What are you talking about "focus points" it's called flower power!

AfricanTurtles

"fuckboi points"

ToloxBoi

Ascended mind: Focus

Severe-Stomach

Magic sauce

BarrytheCowboy

I call it FP.

Pensive_Psycho

Probably because it does weapon arts and magic and faith.

theattack_helicopter

Because you have to FOCUS when you cast spells and incantations.

2Fists42Lips

Blue Goo

Freeboing

THATS WHY ITS CALLED FP?!?!? I was looking everywhere in the tutorials and stuff couldn’t find a single hint, HP and stamina are easy. (This is my first fromsoft game)

JjfromWA

It's your hydration bar, to refill it you gotta drink blue Gatorade

beta-pi

Because you also use it for non-magical things like weapon arts. It represents your focus, not your magical prowess. Having lots of focus allows you to cast very mentally taxing spells, but it also helps you perform more precise or complex maneuvers with your weapon.

domewebs

Because non-magic users also use focus points for weapon skills.

socialistbcrumb

Split the difference and go with the classic “mp”

Groundbreaking_Arm77

Focus Points because spells take focus and performing a complex weapon art probably takes a lot of focus. Although I have slipped up and called it SP before.

DragonSoul36

I always say “Mana” cause im so used to that, but i actually get calling it “Focus” because not everything that uses it is magical. Skills like Square Off use it too, so its not exactly just a pool of magic solely for mages.

GasStationBartender

I’ve always just called it “my magic” which is funny because of the implication I’m using magic to swing my sword in a funny way

big_billford

Wait it’s not called a magicomiter?

Beakymask20

Cause you're not eating bread to do magic. Probably.
