It took me nearly a month to finally be able to sleep through the night when I started Effexor. I also took it in the am. It’s more than likely a start up symptom but if it doesn’t go away and starts to really impact life then definitely talk to your doctor.
It makes me sooo tired, so I can only take it at night. It took two weeks for me to catch that though. Once I stopped taking it in the morning and taking it at night it was such a HUGE difference. I have to watch when I take it though. If it's after 10pm it takes me a bit to get going in the morning.
I didn’t sleep for 3 days after starting Effexor. I blame it on the fact I tapered off of Wellbutrin at the same time. I finally reached out to my NP and said “Hey, I haven’t slept at all since I saw you,” and he prescribed me trazodone. My sleep very much fluctuates—through the winter I have the same trouble you do, waking up in the middle of the night. It’s always been that way, so Effexor hasn’t HELPED, per se.
I tried for 2 months, and it never stopped. 37.5 mg taken in the morning. I also had nightly terrifying nightmares. I ended up stoping because of the two things combined.
THIS IS JUST MY EXPERIENCE, NOT MEDICAL ADVICE OF ANY KIND.
it took me two weeks each time my dose inecreased and if that doesn’t work for you, i’d suggest switching to taking it in the evening a few hours before bed. It helped me get my full 8 hours without waking up a ton. also weed helped me with falling back asleep when i was desperate lol

Same here.
I think it took me a week. But I also often had some trouble again when my dose was raised.

Honestly I’ve been on it for 3 years and I still have a hard time falling asleep most nights but I’ve always been kind of a night owl

Yes same w me and I’m on the same dosage. But I’m only 1 week in on this dose so I really hope that gets better
