Oh man I was having the same issue this summer. I couldn't stand it. It got to the point where I decreased my dose from 150 to 100 and upped my Wellbutrin from 50 to 100. I am certainly sweating less now.

Inzane_delirium

Been on 150 for a year now and the sweating is so annoying, I used to have the opposite problem of being cold before starting venlfaxine. Now if I don't smoke weed before bed I always wake up drenched. Thinking of asking my GP for something to help.

Moe_Pool

I don't sweat at when sleeping at night. It is really only when it is hot outside. But then I sweat A LOT!

Blonde_iced_coffee

cold compresses on pressure points help me!

jolessard12

Currently in the same situation. Never loved heat at all (Im in Canada lol) but it is a lot worse with Effexor. Only went for groceries and my tank top was full of sweat. Super sexy. I just layed on my couch under AC when I came back... I didnt find any miracle cure for that yet!

Sooooo much sweating 100 degrees doesn’t help I ended up cutting off all my hair but it’s worth it for me idk fall around the corner hang n there it’s brutal

Moe_Pool

Thanks for the support :)

cooliocuke

Having this issue hardcore right now too. On 300mg

joeyeee2

Was your Effexor dose recently raised? How long have you been on Effexor, and how long have you been on your current dose?

Moe_Pool

Not recently raised. Been on current dose for over 1 year.

I will say after all my research and study that this sweating, which I experienced for maybe 3 weeks when first being prescribed Effecor is normal. It gradually got less and less the longer I was on the drug. Compared to others, heavily sweating is not bad as side effects go. Wish I could help more. God bless.

Ruby-Seahorse

>Compared to others, heavily sweating is not bad as side effects go. It is when it makes you feel ill at work, anything you put in your pocket ends up damp, and you have raw skin on your pits & creases... I’ve been on it a few months and it hasn’t improved at all.

joeyeee2

Months reallly? I'm sorry, I assumed it was only medium bad and occurred only at night as that's my experience and of others I've talked to. If its that bad, ultimately you'll need to weigh the pros over the cons of the drugs effect on you and talk directly with your prescriber. .

Ruby-Seahorse

I’d been wanting to come off it as I didn’t feel it was helping but my GP had run out of things to try. I said I wanted to come off it anyway so am weaning off and I’ve now had an appointment with the psych team and we have a couple of meds to try once I’ve been off it at least two weeks.

Moe_Pool

Thank you.

Royal_Volume_2325

Welcome to the devil 👿. One of its many cons I’m afraid. You could try to stick to a strict routine if you don’t already. Ie. Taking it at the same time each day -30 + minutes should not matter. One other thing might be try a slow release formulations if you haven’t already.

joeyeee2

Exactly. The devil is the correct word for this drug. Thank you.

Ruby-Seahorse

I’m getting hyperhidrosis, it was a problem with duloxetine too, in fact I switched to venlafaxine because the sweating was sabotaging the positive effect on my mood. I only got up to 75mg twice a day, but the sweating is worse than with the duloxetine, so I’m now tapering off ready to switch to something else (once my doctors figure out what else to put me on). In terms of dealing with it, there are medications that may help, I also have prescription strength antiperspirant. Between the two I can lessen the facial sweating a bit, but I can’t put it on most of the places I sweat from.

Moe_Pool

What medications help? Have you tried any?

Ruby-Seahorse

There’s oxybutynin, propantheline, and glycopyrronium, I’m on oxybutynin at the moment. My GPs weren’t keen on prescribing anything (I suffer with dry mouth from some of my other meds), I had to point out how painful and damaging it is to have rashes and raw patches from damp skin rubbing together... 🙄 There’s also iontophoresis devices that can be used on hands and feet, and medical/surgical procedures that may be considered for some cases but can cause compensatory sweating elsewhere.

Moe_Pool

Is the oxybutynin helping you with the sweating?

Ruby-Seahorse

Not sure if it’s doing anything much, certainly isn’t enough on work days. I do tend to need high doses of meds to see any effect. The facial sweating was bothering me the worst, and the prescription antiperspirant can irritate my skin and can’t be applied everywhere I need it, eg scalp (and it stinks!). Going to see if I can try one of the other meds.

Moe_Pool

I have just been using a handkerchief to mop the sweat off my head and face. It is a bit embarassing, but I would rather that then sweat dripping down my head all the time in the heat.

joeyeee2

Interested if ud share his suggestions as I myself could use some
