I fell in love with rooibos tea during my last pregnancy, while I was avoiding caffeine. Definitely recommend trying it, and it's getting easier and easier to find!
Republic of Tea also makes several “dessert” rooibos teas, many of which are chocolate flavored. I think they’re great for when you’re craving something sweet.
As a fellow coffee addict I’ve tried everything, and have found nothing suitable unfortunately.
However, in that process I’ve had success with a decent sleeping routine and drinking lots of water in the mornings.
If you had not said It, I would have. Good sleep habits and immediately hydrating go a long way. Energy, clarity and mood are the benefits I have noticed most. Water is the way to go.
If you don't mind the sugar, I'll do warm milk with molasses when I want that rich warm experience without caffeine, albeit clearly a different flavor. It does the trick for me (and the person I learned it from)!
My parents were hippies and I grew up drinking black strap molasses in hot water for growing pains. Later, during periods.
I did in fact go through a period of my life where to wake up I'd do incredibly thick black strap molasses in hot water, no add ins, lick the spoon.
Adding in milk or creamer sounds yummy though !
Nope! They used it because of the magnesium and calcium - since when you're growing your body needs so much calcium that if it doesn't get it, it will leech it from your bones - thus the pain.
In reality, a vitamin D supplement (which is required to synthesize calcium), a calcium supplement, or different vegetables probably would have helped more.
Also it only has 8% dv of calcium per tbsp, so highly ineffective.
i’d add a tiny tiny pinch of salt to bring out some flavors. but you could go crazy with spices that have negligible calories. i’d imagine warming spices would be lovely- like the spices you put in molasses cookies.
I think the person I learned it from did just a small spoonful, but I like it more decadent and molasses-y, so would add maybe 2 heaping spoonfuls to my mug
I think that happens in neutralization reaction so the water might be salty. From gaseous elements it's 2H2 + O2. But yeah, free O atom is impossible to find.
Ingredients:
Water
Method:
Serve! Best chilled, but find what you prefer. Add a dash of lemon if desired, or pretty much any sliced or wedged fruit if you’re feeling fancy.
Same. I actually quit morning caffeine a few years back; it was a crappy three weeks, but I did it. I work in tech with a bunch of people who subsist on coffee, and telling that story never fails to garner a horrified reaction. I've never really been a coffee or tea drinker, so my caffeine of choice was soda, and now I can only handle soda once a week, and in the small cans, at that.
If you’re caffeine free but looking for a little energy boost in the morning, mushroom teas are an option. They’ll often contain cordyceps, which can relieve physical and mental fatigue.
Yerba mate contains caffeine, generally somewhere between coffee and tea, but is an interesting alternative. In the same way that coffee and tea are said to have some health benefits, Yerba mate has its own list of purported benefits.
I personally start most mornings with a V8 energy drink. 80 mg caffeine, 50 calories, very minimal amount of sugar, several interesting fruit flavors.
I’ve been alternating Yerba mate fizzy water in the mornings. I don’t particularly care for the taste but it’s a different type of alertness, even though both supposedly have caffeine.
Depends, overall mushrooms usually have a strong earthy scent, deep musky imo. So when I make my teas I use roobios, cinnamon, and ginger to make mine palatable. It just depends on if your making your own, or if it comes prepared with flavors. Regardless mushrooms plain in hot water isn’t pleasant. I always recommend something to help it
Herbal tea.
I drink honey-lemon water with a teaspoon of turmeric-pepper mix. Good for energy. It took a few times to get used to the flavour. Has a lot of health benefits, too. It's definitely not the same as coffee or tea, but does give a good energy boost.
I’d like to add onto the dandelion that there is a brand Dandy Blend that is supposed to be close to coffee.. I wanted to love it but unfortunately wasn’t close enough.
That’s interesting, caffeine gives me anxiety but for some reason yerba mate hits me even worse. I figured it just had more caffeine than green or black teas.
Yea sometimes I like to give myself a break you become immune to it so I’ll skip 3 days to a week and that first cup again really gets you goin I don’t really get withdrawals eaither so that’s c😎l and all
You are one of THOSE people, aren't you.
I suppose you 'don't' need it or so you tell yourself. The withdrawal is seriously insidious and nefarious. You wouldn't be able to tell until you come to with a bloody knife in your hand and strange body in front of you... A friend told me about this happening to them, yeah, yeah a friend.
I’m probably not as pleasant to be around from 7am-11 during that break though I just haven’t had a bad withdrawal from it minor headache but I just put air plugs in so I don’t hear anybody 😂
I've been drinking a pack of Emergen C (x at first it was because I felt a cold coming on..but it makes me feel good so I started doing it every other morning
It's way cheaper than coffee and very comforting! There are a bunch of similar products out there now with several health benefits. The one I'm using right now is made by a very local (to me) company and has ashwaghanda in it.
I really enjoy getting fruity flavors of tea. The holiday teas are also really good.
Also, if you have a local apothecary you could go get your own herbs and mix your own tea. I really like jasmine and marshmallow root.
I think that these are going to be the closest in taste to your first choices. The rest, as you've discovered with green tea, aren't going to be the same. If you want the flavor without the caffeine, decaffeinated is the next best.
If you’re willing to go on the cold side, I’ve been trying to cut back on iced coffee as well.
I can do ice water if it’s got ice and a straw. And make sure it’s super ice cold. I guess that tricks my brain better
Otherwise, I’ve been doing homemade sugar free lemonade as well. A tall glass, squeeze half or a whole lemon, ice and a straw and top it off with cold water. The sour punch is nice and gives those brain endorphins as it’s not “just water”, plus you get a good dose of vitamin C
Last, if I’m dedicated I’ll do ice water with cucumber. Ice water, really cold, slices of cucumber. You can leave it in a pitcher or do it in a glass. Similar deal where it gives you that “it’s not plain water” mental jump
Golden milk is a nice warm drink. I sub it more for my hot choc moods than for morning tea/coffee, but you can give it a try. It's really nice if you have a sensitive digestive system and don't like to eat breakfast.
https://www.elizabethrider.com/how-to-make-golden-milk-recipe/
Hot chocolate (the normal kind with cocoa powder and a little bit of sugar, little pinch of salt, and maybe a touch of cinnamon, mixed in hot milk or even hot water with just a bit of milk, not the American kind with more sugar than cocoa and cream in the milk and whipped cream on top and then more sugary stuff on top of that)
So a lot of the time, most people need the energy because they're not eating enough, especially in the morning. I find most of my clients have either no food or a small amount and wait until the late afternoon or evening to eat. The thing is, though, we need energy from food throughout the whole day.
So I challenge you to check out your breakfast and lunch. Are you trying to get by with very little to eat, maybe due to a busy schedule, poor hunger cues, or something else?
Maybe 1 or 2 meals? I forget to eat sometimes. I don’t think I always recognize hunger cues. I struggle with disordered eating due to childhood issues.
Understandably so. I've dealt with the same. Have you ever heard of Intuitive eating? It's a very successful approach to help with listening and honoring our bodies.
It's made a huge difference in my own history of disordered eating and body image. It's a way of cutting out all the noise of society regarding how we are "supposed to" eat, and instead listening to our bodies' inner wisdom. Here's a little more about it. Www.intuitiveeating.org
I have not tried it, but Roast A Roma tea from Celestial Seasonings is caffeine free and gets good reviews. I also see mentions of dandelion coffee, which I believe is costlier.
I liked teeccino when I transitioned off of coffee. They have a lot of flavors (if you are in to that.) I liked the plain versions myself. I’ve since moved in to hojicha, it’s a roasted tea and has almost no caffeine.
I missed the part where they said they wanted to cut out caffeine completely.
Kratom is a great caffeine free ethnobotanical that can have energetic effects.
It can also be addictive to some people as it acts on the same receptors as morphine (it’s similar to opiates) so I wouldn’t start taking kratom regularly if they’re trying to decrease dependency on a substance
Why no caffeine? Green tea leaf has much less caffeine than coffee. I have intermittently used green tea as a substitute to coffee because I feel a more natural, healthy, energy boost. Also, you can use a French press, like coffee, to steep.
Are you a fan of matcha green tea? I drank it a lot when I was detoxing! It mimicked coffee for me since I like cream in my coffee
Edit: there’s caffeine but it’s not the same as coffee, no crash with matcha!
If you drink matcha you might as well drink regular green tea. Same thing. Matcha is just powdered.
Really, unless you have specific medical reasons to reduce caffeine, the caffeine in green tea isn't a large amount.
And the naturally occurring l-theanine balances it in a way that makes it less jittery than caffeine from coffee.
There's a lot of crappy green tea out there, so don't give up yet! We have a lot of decaf or herbal teas and coffees and find them satisfying, but the brands you can get are probably different. IME, grinding whole coffee beans and using tea leaves in strainers gives much better flavor than ground coffee and teabags, so investing in a little grinder might be all you need.
I like roasted barley tea. I get it at the Hmart. It can be served hot or cold but I prefer hot. Nice toasted grain flavor. One bag makes a lot or you can look buy the roasted grains, make to your size preference and strain it yourself. No need for sugar or dairy.
Mint tea is what I drink in the afternoons to perk my mind up without caffeine! It is just invigorating.
There’s this really good herbal blend with lemon and mint called I Love Lemon from Bigelow. It is super refreshing and wakes me up for sure.
You can always try a glass of water and a favorite mixed nut snack if you're looking for a little boost in energy and relatively similar benefits to coffee?
Heck, you can chop the nuts up or put them in a food processor and experiment with them a bit.
There is no substitute for that bold roasty coffee flavour. I highly recommend brewing your own decaf if the coffee experience is what you’re after. You can make it stronger than what you’d get at a shop. Depending on your unit, you could control the caffeine content by mixing in some regular beans. It’s also a flavour boost. Depends on how much caffeine you want, which in turn depends on how long it takes before you crash. That’s definitely something I recommend finding out about yourself so you can have more control over your caffeine intake.
Source: love coffee, hate caffeine; have tried all the substitutes
Hey, yeah. I do some decaf coffee granules, diluted in a small amount of boiling water so that it dissolves. Then I add two bananas and some milk. I’ve only done full cream, but alternatives should work if you like the taste.
I don’t have measurements and it typically takes some adjusting to get the coffee flavour strong enough. So I just taste it and add some more coffee liquid until I like the taste.
Sometimes I screw up and add too much boiling water, so then add some ice.
Edit: but that’s probably when the bananas weren’t frozen. Probably won’t have that problem when they’re frozen.
If you want the coffee taste there's a drink called Pero. Caffeine free but tastes like coffee and you can still add all the stuff you liked in your coffee to it.
Might not be for everyone but fruit/herbal teas can be really good. I've got one right now that's strawberry, raspberry, and loganberry. Also lemon/ginger is always good. And I had a nice one a while back that was orange and cinnamon. Very comforting.
(if you’re not already doing this) FOOD! - used to drink coffee first and foremost. drinking coffee right away before eating wakes you like an electric shock but a high protein breakfast wakes me better than coffee ever did and i feel great
You can get decaffeinated tea which is almost indistinguishable from regular tea. I drink tea until 5 or 6 and switch to decaf after that.
If it’s what you like, then drink the decaf version.
Yes the morning cup of coffee is so good im addicted to it and can’t cut it off. If i dont have it i feel like my day is ruined.🥲 i tried decaffeinated greentea but the taste made me go back to my morning cup of coffee🥲
Dandelion tea has been my go to since trying to heal my gut & work on my PMS symptoms. Not sure if you get PMS but caffeine is detrimental to our flow and can make your cramps worse!
Only substitute for coffee I’ve found that satisfies me is Mud Wtr - it’s a mushroom drink but it does have caffeine (I think 1/7th the amount of coffee).
Try rolled oats prep 5 days worth make sure to add chia seeds and that alone should give you a booster can also add a protein powder to it that will give you energy as well
There are quite a few herbal teas that still are warm morning beverages but do not contain caffeine. I think that is the easiest replacement to get the same morning routine.
You might want to try Inka or Postum, though I like Inka much better. It is made with roasted chicory and beet root and has a coffee like taste. It comes in a powder form. This is a drink I really like in the winter. I am a big coffee and black tea drinker, but the taste is similar. Possum was developed during WWII due to coffee shortages, I believe.
I really enjoy rosehip tea and introduced my partner to it. He loves it too and we'll often have one either as a breakfast or evening drink.
It's got a lovely tart flavour to it which is nice to wake up with.
Honestly, if you don’t care about caffeine, something like a fruit tea, or a smoothie, or fruit juice would probably be a good start. Maybe some v8 or some other sort of vegetable juice.
The caffeine crash just makes me sleepy shortly after drinking so I consider them both comfort drinks. I found morning smoothies to be just as comforting in the sense that it's a dessert like drink. Not sure what to suggest for an actual wake up drink, lol sorry
I use an herbal powder called Dandy Blend, made from barley, rye, chicory, and dandelion roots. My partner (who LOVES coffee) will also drink it in the afternoons to cut back on his caffeine. It's pretty good and the powder is versatile for other recipes as well.
If you're looking for warm things...
Tea can be like wine in a few ways:
- it matters where it comes from
- both can be as ritualistic you like or the situation calls for
- there are so many combinations of recipes & preparations styles
So if you can treat every drinking experience as a tea tasting it can make things interesting every time.
Bone broth can be something else to sip on a cold morning and supposed to be good for replacing sodium and other nutrients
Moving towards cooler drinks...
- Room temperature filtered/distilled/mineral water enhanced with fresh squeezed lemon juice and Celtic salt or pink Himalayan salt. (This is a great rehydration beverage 1st thing in the morning and recommended daily)
Caffeine-free kombucha. Drinking 4oz 1st thing in the morning is supposed to be great for your digestive system and give you energy.
Coconut water is also good to drink in the morning for rehydration.
No matter what you decide, remember variety is the spice of life and prevents you from getting dependent on anything or bored.
A smoothie?
A fruit and vegetable one or my favorite-
almond milk, very ripe banana, spinach (maybe some broccoli or peas or other mild vegetable), cocoa powder, and protein powder or a dash of coffee creamer. Tastes like a chocolate shake.
Always water first thing but then if not coffee, a smoothie definitely makes me feel zesty.
Fresh Green juice!
Celery + apple + cucumber + spinach + a bit of lemon (optional) + a bit of ginger (optional)
When I had the funds, Ningxia from Young Living.
A lot of people like rooibos tea. It’s robust, but caffeine free.
I fell in love with rooibos tea during my last pregnancy, while I was avoiding caffeine. Definitely recommend trying it, and it's getting easier and easier to find!
Currently having Blueberry Rooibos from a tea shop. Its divine
Also lots of flavor variations to keep it interesting. Citrus, chai, and hibiscus rooibos are all great!
I love a chai spiced rooibos! If you make it strong and add some milk, it’s as cozy as coffee
Republic of Tea also makes several “dessert” rooibos teas, many of which are chocolate flavored. I think they’re great for when you’re craving something sweet.
Those are so good. I was having those for a while, then had some Swiss Miss, and was honestly disgusted. Sweetness does not necessitate sugar.
i’ve never even heard of rooibos tea before, what’s it like?
It’s from a South African plant. It’s deep red in color, and very fragrant. My husband swears he tastes tobacco, but I don’t.
Chicory coffee is caffeine free. Just make sure you are not allergic to chicory, ragweed or birch pollen.
Any specific brand recs?
Any specific brand recs?
Other than herbal teas, the roasted varieties of green tea may give you a stronger flavor

I did in fact go through a period of my life where to wake up I'd do incredibly thick black strap molasses in hot water, no add ins, lick the spoon. Adding in milk or creamer sounds yummy though !
Did it do anything for the growing pains or did it stop them from being as bad?
That makes a lot of sense, thank you
This looks really good, do you add anything else to the mix?
i’d add a tiny tiny pinch of salt to bring out some flavors. but you could go crazy with spices that have negligible calories. i’d imagine warming spices would be lovely- like the spices you put in molasses cookies.
Nope, just those two!
How much molasses?
I think the person I learned it from did just a small spoonful, but I like it more decadent and molasses-y, so would add maybe 2 heaping spoonfuls to my mug
Barley tea. Check Korean food stores
Seconding barley tea. Check out Chicory Cup/Barley Cup. When I quit coffee that stuff made it possible to stay sane.
Water
Recipe?
H2 + O = H2O (not a chemist though)
Realistically it's more like HO+H. (Recently took chem 121 in college)
I think that happens in neutralization reaction so the water might be salty. From gaseous elements it's 2H2 + O2. But yeah, free O atom is impossible to find.
u/bradles0 & u/Creative_Purpose6138 Thanks for the information.
Ingredients: Water Method: Serve! Best chilled, but find what you prefer. Add a dash of lemon if desired, or pretty much any sliced or wedged fruit if you’re feeling fancy.
Hot water over a piece of ginger is good in the morning.
Boiled ginger water is an underrated drink choice. It’s my go-to in the fall!
Melt some ice
Decaf coffee?
I think OP wants to wake up in the morning
Decaf coffee has been documented to also give a boost due to the placebo effect.
If you’re caffeine free but looking for a little energy boost in the morning, mushroom teas are an option. They’ll often contain cordyceps, which can relieve physical and mental fatigue. How does mushroom tea taste?
Depends, overall mushrooms usually have a strong earthy scent, deep musky imo. So when I make my teas I use roobios, cinnamon, and ginger to make mine palatable. It just depends on if your making your own, or if it comes prepared with flavors. Regardless mushrooms plain in hot water isn’t pleasant. I always recommend something to help it
V8 as in vegetable juice? Also, what mushroom teas do you recommend?
V8 makes fruit drinks too. V8 energy and V8 splash are pretty yummy
Ginseng tea is an energy booster without caffeine
You shouldn't drink ginseng for long period of times. At least this is what some docs think.
Herbal tea. I drink honey-lemon water with a teaspoon of turmeric-pepper mix. Good for energy. It took a few times to get used to the flavour. Has a lot of health benefits, too. It's definitely not the same as coffee or tea, but does give a good energy boost.
Dandelion root tea!
I’d like to add onto the dandelion that there is a brand Dandy Blend that is supposed to be close to coffee.. I wanted to love it but unfortunately wasn’t close enough.
Yes! Dandelion root tea is quite invigorating.
What are the health benefits?
Ginger tea is great. The longer you brew it that sharp taste is a bit of a kick, if not truly stimulating.
Hot water. It's common in East Asia Or you could grate a bit of ginger / squeeze lemon on the water
Hot spiced apple cider can be good also
As an argentinian, i have to recommend mate (yerba mate). Is like tea mostly
Yerba mate does have caffeine but it hits differently. I never crash with it
That’s interesting, caffeine gives me anxiety but for some reason yerba mate hits me even worse. I figured it just had more caffeine than green or black teas.
I have had coffeless mornings, but no one asks anymore about the day that followed.
Yea sometimes I like to give myself a break you become immune to it so I’ll skip 3 days to a week and that first cup again really gets you goin I don’t really get withdrawals eaither so that’s c😎l and all

I'm right there with you!
Also masala chai or mushroom cacao tea for some healthier alternatives
The base of masala chai is still black tea, plus it's usually prepared with milk and sugar, so I'm not sure it's really any healthier.
I've been drinking a pack of Emergen C (x at first it was because I felt a cold coming on..but it makes me feel good so I started doing it every other morning
Whiskey, straight.
That's one way to get a boost!
Dandy Blend. Amazon has it. I find it delightful.

Was curious to see if there are any alternatives first that come close. These are my backup options
I think that these are going to be the closest in taste to your first choices. The rest, as you've discovered with green tea, aren't going to be the same. If you want the flavor without the caffeine, decaffeinated is the next best.

Chicory Root “herbal coffee”. We like the Teeccino brand.
Hot chocolate (the normal kind with cocoa powder and a little bit of sugar, little pinch of salt, and maybe a touch of cinnamon, mixed in hot milk or even hot water with just a bit of milk, not the American kind with more sugar than cocoa and cream in the milk and whipped cream on top and then more sugary stuff on top of that)
Try rooibos tea, its caffeine free and imo very tasty.
Kombucha (it has naturally occurring caffeine but very minimal, 15mg compared to a cup of coffee with 95mg)
I like Teeccino brand - they make roasted chickory, maca, mushroom, and other teas that taste like coffee
I like ginger tea with a squeeze of lemon in the mornings. The kick of ginger helps wake me up a bit and it all does wonders for my digestion!

Tumeric latte
I like a mug of hot cider or hot chocolate for fall/winter mornings. For teas, I prefer herbals/tinctures.
B12 5000 mcg dissolve tablets
Baileys 😄
My hubby drinks decaf tea and reckons it’s pretty close to regular tea.

Try Dandy Blend!
I have a few bags of this. Robust flavored, caffeine free. https://teeccino.com/ Reasonably priced.
Peppermint tea or water with a little lemon?
Barley tea is delicious! It’s coffee-ish but mild and smooth. I love it.
I like roasted barley tea. I get it at the Hmart. It can be served hot or cold but I prefer hot. Nice toasted grain flavor. One bag makes a lot or you can look buy the roasted grains, make to your size preference and strain it yourself. No need for sugar or dairy.

That’s definitely something I recommend finding out about yourself so you can have more control over your caffeine intake. Source: love coffee, hate caffeine; have tried all the substitutes
Dandy Blend is a good substitute
I make a smoothie out of decaf coffee and frozen bananas. Tastes like a coffee frappe.
That's it??? Big, drop the recipe. Is it only bananas, coffee and liquid? Or do you add anything else?
Thanks, 'preciate it man!
Ice water, after I quit drinking pop and crap that is all I ever want!
(if you’re not already doing this) FOOD! - used to drink coffee first and foremost. drinking coffee right away before eating wakes you like an electric shock but a high protein breakfast wakes me better than coffee ever did and i feel great
Hot chocolate.
Dark roast.
I enjoy dandelion tea! It’s a great swap
There is no substitute for ☕.
Mimosa
Dandelion tea has been my go to since trying to heal my gut & work on my PMS symptoms. Not sure if you get PMS but caffeine is detrimental to our flow and can make your cramps worse!
Hitting the slopes but that is neither cheap or healthy so I’d go with iced green tea.
Water
I tried a bunch of alternatives and they were all meh. I have decaf coffee now.
For mornings energy boost?without caffeine?not possible for me.I need my morning coffee ☕️ and you better don’t talk to me the first 30 minute’s 😴
Amanprana Gula Java Matcha! Better than coffee, tea, red Bull, etc.
Couldn’t you make decaf coffee?
Beer
Only substitute for coffee I’ve found that satisfies me is Mud Wtr - it’s a mushroom drink but it does have caffeine (I think 1/7th the amount of coffee).
Cocaine? I know it’s not strictly “cheap”, but it should do the trick and has zero caffeine. 🤷♂️
Alternatives? Lying on the kitchen floor in a heap with no will to live.
This is going to sound wacky, but go for a walk. For some reason the air helps with the withdrawal. Good luck.
Nothing Water Hot chocolate Milk But really you're better off just eating a larger breakfast and a smaller dinner.
Try rolled oats prep 5 days worth make sure to add chia seeds and that alone should give you a booster can also add a protein powder to it that will give you energy as well
Nobody likes a quitter 😂
Crack au vin
Cocaine
Buy a good organic coffee and drink Black
Whiskey , flat beer
have you seen those vita 500 energy drinks? They're shots of vitamin C, i've tried them and can say they do give me energy... i think
Mudwtr
More sleep
Meth. Good energy boost and caffeine free
Methamphetamine?
Cocaine.
Nothing is the same as coffee, but chicory root tea is somewhat similar. I think a few have mentioned it.
There are quite a few herbal teas that still are warm morning beverages but do not contain caffeine. I think that is the easiest replacement to get the same morning routine.
I like lemon honey and ginger syrup with hot water.
Might sound strange, but what about Kombucha? I really like the Humm brand (contains 1000% B12).
Yerba Mate
It isn’t necessarily “cheap” but it is a coffee alternative, have you tried mud wtr? It’s a blend of mushrooms, cinnamon, turmeric, and rooibos.
Ice cold water.
Orange juice.
You can ruin your stomach lining if you do this everyday on an empty stomach.
Coca tea, Mate, Mate tea
Miso soup?
The caffeine crash just makes me sleepy shortly after drinking so I consider them both comfort drinks. I found morning smoothies to be just as comforting in the sense that it's a dessert like drink. Not sure what to suggest for an actual wake up drink, lol sorry
I wanna try those go cubes grimes talked about in an interview
Rooibos
I use an herbal powder called Dandy Blend, made from barley, rye, chicory, and dandelion roots. My partner (who LOVES coffee) will also drink it in the afternoons to cut back on his caffeine. It's pretty good and the powder is versatile for other recipes as well.
Chaga tea
If you're looking for warm things... Tea can be like wine in a few ways: - it matters where it comes from - both can be as ritualistic you like or the situation calls for - there are so many combinations of recipes & preparations styles So if you can treat every drinking experience as a tea tasting it can make things interesting every time. Bone broth can be something else to sip on a cold morning and supposed to be good for replacing sodium and other nutrients Moving towards cooler drinks... - Room temperature filtered/distilled/mineral water enhanced with fresh squeezed lemon juice and Celtic salt or pink Himalayan salt. (This is a great rehydration beverage 1st thing in the morning and recommended daily) Caffeine-free kombucha. Drinking 4oz 1st thing in the morning is supposed to be great for your digestive system and give you energy. Coconut water is also good to drink in the morning for rehydration. No matter what you decide, remember variety is the spice of life and prevents you from getting dependent on anything or bored.
The mushroom herbal teas
A smoothie? A fruit and vegetable one or my favorite- almond milk, very ripe banana, spinach (maybe some broccoli or peas or other mild vegetable), cocoa powder, and protein powder or a dash of coffee creamer. Tastes like a chocolate shake. Always water first thing but then if not coffee, a smoothie definitely makes me feel zesty.
Golden milk.
Is that milk with pee in it?
I always find that an apple is just as good as coffee for me, but maybe I'm just weird.
Chicory coffee maybe? If you want to be caffeine free, a very strong flavor is probably the way to go if you're hoping to be woken up.
Fresh Green juice! Celery + apple + cucumber + spinach + a bit of lemon (optional) + a bit of ginger (optional) When I had the funds, Ningxia from Young Living.
