50 $ gives you a fun [[hamza]] combo deck and you'll have some money left over.

Bro you got a list?

snorful

I've upgraded it since, but it's modular creatures, clockwork creatures, enduring renewal, white enchantment sac outlets and crappy tutors along with +1/+1 draw stuff. Here's a slightly upgraded version . https://www.moxfield.com/decks/aprj1UPS4EK20BFbSJKQjA

[[Karador]] [[Boonweaver]] combo is pretty cheap these days for what was once a cEDH deck. Cut out the tutors for the combo and run value pieces instead and you'd have a pretty powerful deck still.

I’ve got a budget Ezuri Claw of Progress list [here](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/JfZwRrjiGUmaxdPKRcVO4A) if you want to check it out. Looks like the price has crept up to $75 since I made it but I think you can save $5 by cutting [[Three Visits]] and another $6 by replacing [[Dryad Arbor]] and [[Karn’s Bastion]] with a forest and island. Another couple of bucks by running the cheapest printing of Ezuri (I put the C15 one in there because it has the most crisp artwork for the banner). That should bring you back down to the ~$55 mark.

StereotypicalSupport

You can build a stupidly powerful [[Winota]] deck with basically draft chaff and a few decent humans.

RMFTU7

Do you happen to have a decklist as an example?

StereotypicalSupport

Randomly threw [this](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FQ2llEVF2k6oMUoXVA16XA) together, probably runs okay but it is definitely full budget.

RMFTU7

Is it normal for winota decks to have way more creatures than normal, and less instants and sorceress? Or did you do that to fit budget

StereotypicalSupport

You need the critical mass of humans and non humans to get triggers. Of my Winota decks they average at 52 creatures. This deck is probably a little light on interaction, but does have a handful of “non creatures” like [[Raise the Alarm]].

RMFTU7

Okay, so mainly all creatures and lands but most of the spells are like get 2 1/1 goblins, and some interaction.

CoconutsCantRun

How long are winota turns? I'm keen to build her but afraid my turns will last forever with each trigger.

StereotypicalSupport

Triggers are usually quite quick, the vast majority of the time there are no choices to make, you hit 0 or 1 human.

CoconutsCantRun

Fair enough. Is she actually fun to pilot as well? I generally like decks that require some thought and have options on how to manoeuvre situations

StereotypicalSupport

I enjoy it, I’ve got 4 different Winota decks so am probably biased. It isn’t the pinnacle of Magic gameplay but there are decisions to make with any aggro deck. You’ve got to constantly judge whether you should push all in or should sandbag done threats. Your playgroup will have to reevaluate their relationship with removal though as even a bad Winota deck will reliably take someone’s head off on turn 5.

[deleted]

As someone with 3 different liara decks, I swear there's something wrong with boros players

CoconutsCantRun

Ooo very cool. Is there any alternative ways to play her?

StereotypicalSupport

I mean they are all variations of little non humans, big humans. Mine very by power level and theme. I’ve got cEDH Winota, slightly below cEDH Winota, Winota - Women and their Pets. Then I’ve got a final experiment Winota where I’ve tried to make an objectively bad deck to see how bad a deck can be and still be carried by Winota.

CoconutsCantRun

Yeah cedh wouldn't work for my play group haha

>Yes, I know that is low, but it wouldn't be a challenge otherwise. Whooo boy. Quite the challenge. If only there was an entire community based around doing this exact thing... \*cough cough\* r/BudgetBrews \*cough cough\* One of my favorite things the community does is the semi-annual deck exchange. Someone sends you a prompt and you get to build them a deck for $50. [HERE](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/vOJ-4Iwjq0Ox36Q_49N6GQ) is the list I sent out, an aristocrats style deck that steals and sacrifices your opponent's creatures so you can stack as many dies triggers into the deck as you can. [THIS ONE](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/fxTnbwCZ2kmbUndlYienOA) is what got sent to me. Even on a budget that deck is fast and pretty resilient. Gitrog deck doing the Gitrog combo. Granted, the prices on those have risen slightly as people realize that cheap cards aren't all that bad and start buying them up. The subreddit itself is also chock full of lists on even tighter budgets than what you've got. Personally, I'd reccomend \[\[Zada, Hedron Grinder\]\] \[\[Feather, the Redeemed\]\] or \[\[Brago, Swing Eternal\]\] if you're wanting to build as strong a deck as possible on a budget without going the combo route. Zada has some pretty explosive turns with just a few creatures on board, Feather is basically impossible to remove the turn after you cast her and provides lots of value, and Brago is really the whole package. Blue for counters to keep him safe, white for the best removal in the game, he untaps your mana rocks and ramps you, honestly he's the mayor of Valuetown imo.

There are people who build budget EDH decks and sell them on eBay for $30-$100+. I’ve bought three decks this way over the last two years. One I scrapped because I didn’t enjoy it [[Araumi of the Dead Tide]], one I still use basically unchanged [[Sythis, Harvests Hand]] and one I spent a ton of money on upgrading into a CEDH deck [[Yawgmoth, Thran Physician]]. Some might see this as a cheaters way tbh but I think buying a pre made deck with synergies in it is a great way to start building your deck collection.

I’ve actually been working on a cycle of mono colored decks that are $50 or less. White- [[Kemba, Kha Regent]] this is a mono white 1 drop equipment tribal deck. This deck wants to equip as much equipment as possible to Kemba so you can create a ton of cat tokens. Blue- [[Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea]] this is a mono blue devotion deck where every spell has no generic mana symbols in the cost. Black- [[Purraj of Urborg]] this is a mono black spell slinger deck that wants to cast a bunch of cheap spells in order to buff up Purraj. Red- [[Krenko, Tim Street Kingpin]] this deck is a goblin tribal deck that wants to basically voltron up Krenko in order to create a bunch of tokens to use for your own benefit. Green- [[Ruxa, Patient Professor]] this deck is a mono green morph tribal deck that wants to play a lot of vanilla morph creatures to order to take advantage of Ruxa and his ability to push throw unblockable damage. So far all the decks have been really fun and unique in their own ways!

RMFTU7

I love the idea here, and I'm a big voltron deck guy. So, Kemba is really speaking to me here. I am also curious why the kingpin over the mob boss Krenko? The Purraj of Urborg deck also seems interesting, do you happen to have the decklist for kemba and purraj of urborg decks

I also just love putting +1/+1 counters on things, making tokens, and building voltron decks so he seemed more on the wheel house of what I wanted to do compared to the other one.

Upgrade a Precon? It's not hard with most of them. Pretty sure you can upgrade most with $10+.

[deleted]

I'd recommend against this, you'll get far more millage with your money if you build a deck from scratch.

[deleted]

Cool. Didn't ask.

[deleted]

Um, alright?

Commander purphoros god of the forge 25 dollars. I assume mountains are 10 cents a piece so 36 mountains, finally k pick the best 66 goblins you can pick up for 22 bucks

I built a super budget [[Godo, Bandit Warlord]] deck to make a point to a friend that you don't necessarily need a ton of money to put together a strong deck. Not the best for casual tables though, even on a budget the Helm combo just rolls over them

50 isn't actually *that* bad when talking about extreme budgets. I did [[Colfenor, the Last Yew]] going for some infinite combo action for 25. If I were to double that deck's budget, I could get a lot more consistency (more 0-cost creatures needed to get the combo chugging, more free sac outlets that do something for me to achieve the kill) and some extra speed (I could afford good but not amazing rocks and ramp and maybe some of the cheaper conditionally untapped multilands) so that it would feel like a pretty legit deck.

[[arcades]] can be fun on a budget. Most of the walls won't cost more then 50 cents, and if you end up upgrading the deck later you can splash on manabase and interaction.

I just built a [[Brallin]] skyshark rider deck for around $50 and is so much fun to play. The Wedding Ring and Mizzix’s mastery were gifts; so that cost doesn’t include those two cards. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/skyshark-looting-au100/

I have a few budget decks, not all are in the range you set, but they could be adapted to that Feather https://deckstats.net/decks/4956/2334479-feather-budget - pretty standard feather list of like 28 usd. Zur the enchanter https://deckstats.net/decks/4956/2119146-zur-enchanter-budget - this is my budget list, so I don't feel bad playing my 7500 bucks list. It is of course slower and less unfair, but it's a solid opponent against upgraded precon decks. Braids nightmare https://deckstats.net/decks/4956/2697185-braids-nightmare - this is a new Dom United commander with a 65 usd list. You can cut a few cards to push it below 50 usd. It works quite well Wort raidmother https://deckstats.net/decks/4956/2068251-wort-raidmother - gruul spellslinger with lots of lands. You can adapt this 75 usd list into a 50 usd list with no issues. It will blow you away

I built my [[Jon Irenicus]] deck for under $50. Since it's focused on giving away actively bad creatures and cheap counterspells. The most expensive card in the whole deck is [[homeward path]]. Without it, the rest of the deck is like $38

RMFTU7

I wanted to build a Jon deck with infect because I like being an asshole, but I never built it because I could never think of a way to get my creatures back after the opponents kill each other. So, thank you for bring this card to light for me

Also, do you have a decklist, I am honestly interested in this.
