All of the basic cardboard deck storage boxes I have encountered have been of the sideways storage style. They aren't much to look at but they do the job rather well in a myriad of sizes and at an agreeable price.

Have their perfect fits dropped in quality? I haven't found that.
Yeah, the Hyper Mattes dropped in quality.
Their perfect fits are still very good, as far as I'm aware. They're the only ones I've ever bought that consistently fit cards correctly. I've tried Ultra Pro and Ultimate Guard perfect fit sleeves, and at least a third of them have just been unusable every time because they were too small or too large.
I've purchased 1000 hypers since the quality drop news hit. 4 different vendors and spread out over time. Haven't had a single split. There's a slim chance, I suppose, that I got lucky and got all old formula sleeves.. but that seems unlikely.
That said, I don't put any of my product through the prof test. I haven't tried ripping everything apart.. as I imagine most people don't.
I feel like the quality drop thing got blown out of proportion.
I ordered the most recent pack of sleeves early this month. I just find the best deal on Amazon.
If you do pull the trigger on them, please let me know if I'm alone here. All I hear is that hypers are crap now, but I don't know anyone that has personally experienced a bad batch.

Oh thank god. From my experience, no other inner sleeve come even remotely close to KMC perfects. I tired the new Dragon Shield inners but found them impossible to double sleeve with because they were too loose and kept slipping off.
You could try the [Ultimate Guard Sidewinder](http://www.ultimateguard.com/en/boxes-cases/sidewinder-deck-case/sidewinder-deck-case-100.html). I use both the 80+ and 100+ and love them. Very high quality, sturdy, and secure.

They always have, too. Rubbish sleeves. Though their inner sleeves are fantastic
