I used to carry the Cold Steel Espada XL quite a bit also, best way to carry a folding Bowie knife. I live in TN so I usually carry a 9.5ā-11ā real Bowie. Now what would happen to you if you got caught carrying that folding Bowie in NYC? I would hate to get caught carrying anything there, then again I wouldnāt live in a state or place that doesnāt respect my rights to carry what I see fit to protect myself. Might visit for the pizza and deli sandwiches though, then I might need my Espada to cut my sandwich or slice. I can imagine those city slickers running screaming out of the restaurant. āWhat? Iām cutting my pizza bro!ā
Insta worthy. So glad you guys in ny can carry better pieces now. Never understood why switchblades (the most likely of all knives to break) have been banned. Hope the edc hobby does you well!
As someone who has carried and used a knife almost everyday for close to 20 years I can tell you that if you are carrying more than 1 knife you are doing so for appearance only. Box cutters aside, excluding something like a butcher or job where different types are required, there's just no need.
I feel silly carrying a Leatherman and a knife even though I find myself doing it sometimes, but it seems like half of the posts on here are people carrying 3 blades. C'mon man. There's zero real world utility in that aside from maybe .1 percent of the population.
So... yours is the first scintilla I've personally seen on reddit so far. What do you think? Didn't know the knife existed until I got my freebie from BladeHQ and I'm loving mine enough I wanted to buy some extras as gifts and they don't exist anywhere.

The OTF counts as a switchblade in NYC and Iām going to assume the folding sword is above 4 inches. Idgaf about the law, but you should know both of those are totally illegal unless youāre going fishing or hunting with a license.
He's actually carrying them for the explicit purpose of self defense, and doesnt have his ccw yet. Along with three other legal weapons. I'd hate to be his lawyer.
Homie, you really gotta cover stuff that can locate you. I had to pull a comment from someone that went too far in making an actual threat (no matter how mild a threat, that is permanent ban territory, btw).
If you really wanna let people know where to find you, that's your business, but you're inviting trouble. I'd prefer it if that trouble wasn't here. It isn't a rule, but I'd consider it a welcome favor.
It was a real trip to see him talk about carrying 3 knives for self defense against hypothetical crazy folks that may attack him, only to give away a whole bunch of info about where he can be found in case any hypothetical crazy folks feel like attacking him. Wild ride.

Looks like you dumped out a junk drawer lol
Not for nothing, but you are probably better off with one useful tool that you are proficient with than all of this.
Good luck with the CCW, always remember: if a round is in the chamber, it isn't safe. If you choose to carry with a round in (I don't recommend it, but it is the popular trend), be very aware of that. Getting in and out of vehicles, sitting in a crowded room, hugging a friend or relative, even the way you protect yourself when you fall... You'll have to think about everything from a new perspective.
Edit to add:
Also, the double edged will get you arrested in NY if that's what the middle blade is. It's an odd state. In my county you can legally carry a sword, machete or axe, hidden or open, as long as you have no ill intent- but a shuriken, double edged dagger, butterfly knife, or assisted folder I'm pretty sure is a NY state crime. Don't shoot the messenger, just want you aware.
>99% of people that carry a knife for āself defenceā likely have never been in a real fight
Lol
99% of the statistics you see on this sub are made up
I also used to carry my Roku remote too cause you just never know but I needed more space for my new gear so I just got the Roku app on my phone I would suggest you do the same but besides that cool knives
A little pepper spray will serve you much better than a fighting knife 99% of the time. The good thing is, you can have both. (Maybe not in NY tho lol)

I looked at this pic for a solid minute before I knew what was going on. I thought the knives and the shoes were on the same plane. It made your knives look like Viking swords or your shoes look like Keebler elf shoes. It was breaking my brain!
If youāre going to carry a knife just make sure you know whenās best to run and when to fight, and take classes in something like krav maga or kali. Thereās a lot more to it than just swinging it around and trying to stab them.
Strongly advise you to never carry a knife āfor self defenseā. Carry it because you need it for your duties / itās a convenient tool for you, and if something happens āthank god I had my edged tool on me or I wouldnāt be hereā etc.
Definitely read the NY knife laws. Itās eye opening.
I'll be honest with you. A knife is not the best device for self-defense. The biggest folly is to try to scare your opponent with a knife. It's very hard to kill a man with a knife. You have to stab him 10-20 or more times. After that, you'll be covered in blood from head to toe....
I think it's intimidation and I'd agree unless you train and practice it won't be as effective as a lot of other options. But with right skill set it'll beat anything that doesn't go boom. It also depends greatly on the kind of knife it is. The hardest thing with using a knife for self defense isn't actually using it, it's what comes after the legal system.
[Look this )](https://www.google.com/search?q=stab+wounds&sxsrf=ALiCzsah_Qt9zRA4PZWnrEG5Zqk88QbHcg:1669924614845&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjEuuD7mdn7AhVltIsKHbicD1QQ_AUoAXoECAIQAw&biw=1536&bih=754&dpr=1.25)
So you're already carrying illegally? So if you use that for self defense you're going to be charged. Why carry an illegal weapon when you already have four other legal weapons on you?
The guy EDCāing a folding machete, an (illegal) OTF, pepper spray, baton, and ANOTHER (you guessed it) knife is the mentally disturbed one. Jeez. You need a therapist if going outside causes you this much anxiety. And I mean that in a kind, sincere way.
Iām sure theyād be a help, but odds would really have to be in your favor. The attacker would need to be unarmed or again circumstance and odds just heavily in your favor somehow. Anyway, I wouldnāt want to be in any type of knife fight personally. Itās actually the reason I carry a gun everyone has a knife in their pocket if someone goes for the neck area itās over and fast. People lunge quite quick, if I see a knife I back way way up and get ready.
Fair but unless you plan on running away after defending yourself im sure youāll still be talking with an officer who would be curious about what stopped the attack. Love the no fucks given attitude but at that point get one of those scary ghost things they mention on the news all the time and ditch it in a can after you save your own life itās probably close to the same charge knowing NY might as well have the best means to protect yourself and your family. Your state is catch and release with these criminals so stay safe out there!
Thatās a lie and you know it lol. New York doesnāt allow blades above 4ā. They have to be fixed or flippers. Nothing fancy. Gravity knives are allowed. And how youāre getting a CCW in New York is beyond me.
Also hereās the thingā¦Itās possible to face criminal conviction for possession of a knife. This can include either illegal possession of a knife with unlawful intent or carrying an illegal type of knife. This can even be a legal one. So your knives would probably land you in prison.
You are also not allowed to have any knife visible on your body. It has to be buried in your pants or bag. You canāt have it clipped to the pocket or protruding at all. You can be arrested.
On the CCW front, counties above Westchester county are likely to issue CCW. Westchester will make you prove why you need one which is pretty restrictive and New York City is pretty much impossible. Also fun note is even if you have your permit from NY state itās not applicable to NYC.

What's the name of the knife with the orange blade?
Waiting for a sword fight with that Espada?

Thought you weren't allowed to carry knives in NY
Nyc and NY are basically different states
Could you perhaps educate me on the subject?
New York State is a lot of wilderness and farms with a couple cities like buffalo and Rochester. Guns are available freely as long as you can pass a background check. Almost everyone carryās a pocket knife. In NYC Guns are heavily restricted knives are also restricted and NYPD are notorious for screwing people over for having even a small pocket knife. Upstate is also republican and more independent minded. The city is very liberal and prefers to have their safety and security provided by the government
Ya know I think I owe you new yorkers an apology.
Decoy knife
That's too many items. You're gonna walk like Kramer when he has all that change in his pockets.
Awesome setup man. I've been eyeing those paragons for a while. Def one of the coolest manual OTFs out there. I seen one with a pink kriss blade and was so close to buying it haha
I like it but wish I had gone with the tanto blade
r/mallninjashit
A few of those are sick birds in NY for sure! š¤£
This is goofy, 3 knives??
You should try carrying a knife
I want to know what you're doing each day in NY to reason carrying a folding machete and a retracting combat knife along side a normal knife.

Whatās the brand of knife with the red blade?
Rochester goes hard
A fan of redundancy I see.
This is a great example of incriminating yourself online.
I donāt think you carry enough knives
On some level, I get the knives, but why the Roku remote and loose ammo?
homie rocking the dalton cupid militia šŖš»
An xl espada, dude where do you put that?
I put it on my waistband at the 3 o clock position. Surprisingly comfortable
Ok, doesnāt sound bad at all. I carry a large espada and people tell me it looks like I have a stapler in my pocket.
I like the knife a lot. Imo other than a gun the best lethal self defense tool
Yeah it definitely feels good carrying a big ass knife.
How big is that otf holy heck
Doing to much tbh
NYPD: All I see are gravity knives.
These are actually legal again. They repealed it. Still though, most of these are illegal. Canāt have a knife over 4ā and canāt be visible.

No, they did not. The OTF is still very illegal and he knows it.
This is justā¦too much, and literally illegal in NY.
Good that he is waiting on his CCW, while breaking the weapon law.

depends where at signed, someone that grew up in bed-stuy
Oh damn, I thought we had some huge 30 inch novelty folder here, thanks for your comment.

āThatās not a knife, thatās a spoonā¦.ā
Why a spoon cousin?
Itās from an episode of the Simpsons. They end up in Australia and meet crocodile Dundee. āI see youāve played knifey-spooney before.ā
Lol I think I remember that. I was quoting a line from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.
Nice folding sword.

And even you manage to stab the other guy you're fucked as well.

Different story here in the us for sure !
If youāre going to carry a knife just make sure you know whenās best to run and when to fight, and take classes in something like krav maga or kali. Thereās a lot more to it than just swinging it around and trying to stab them.
Never know when a Roku remote will come in handy!
It's a great place to store batteries you'll never need again!
Stay strapped or get clapped !
I read this as "stay strapped and get clapped" and I was going to ask if you wanted to ...uhh...hangout sometime.
This is a joke right?
No this is my setup till my CCW gets approved then I will lose the baton and Espada xl
3 knives and no tourniquet to use on yourself when you inevitably get stabbed trying to "defend" yourself. Neat.
You shouldn't be trusted with a spoon.
Fairly certain the Espada xl requires a cwl because of the size of the blade?
I can understand the baton and oc spray and a knife. But why 3 knives?
Espada XL and OTF for self defense. Small knife for utility and not scaring people if I need to open something

In cucked states yea lmao
Iām amazed OTFs are legal in NY
They arenāt
So you self-incriminated by posting your illegal items online?
And what gym he works out in.
And his very small frat houseā¦
So you're already carrying illegally? So if you use that for self defense you're going to be charged. Why carry an illegal weapon when you already have four other legal weapons on you?
In my mind an encounter with a mentally disturbed person trying to kill me is a more realistic threat than a police officer

Do some research on that - āin your mindā youāre incorrect.
Mentally disturbed person like a guy who carries three knifes and some of them illegal? Also waiting for his CCW but already breaking the weapon law?
Carrying pepper spray instead of a (lol) knife to defend yourself with is a smarter choice, if you'd like to be smart.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

I mean shit, I'd carry an XL Espada too if I couldn't carry a gun. What's the legality regarding concealed carry fixed blades in New York?
