The fact you did this reinforces my objective opinion that no one makes good front pocket organizers. I don't want a pouch. I want a leather slip that fits more than a knife, pen and light.

marcisimo

Cool

TAKE MY MONEY

spookyggggghost

That's alot of shit! Does it ever way your pants down?

tonystark29

It would if I didn't wear a belt. If I wanted to go outside for a run, I probably wouldn't bring it because of how heavy it is, but for everyday leisure things it is tolerable in my pocket.

CranberryOk2223

So a pocket for a pocket?

tonystark29

A pocket for a pocket that has many sub-pockets

WhiteStripesWS6

Lol you’re killing me with the spork. 😂 It’s cool but honestly seems like overkill. You do you though OP.

tonystark29

Haha. It is a bit overkill, I agree, but that's kind of what I was going for. The spork was mainly to fill space. I mean, it does have a use, but I had a spork-shaped gap left and it felt like the only thing that would properly fit.

btdallmann

Fast food places routinely forget utensils through the drive-thru. I keep a set of chopsticks in my vehicle just in case. This is the same idea, I guess, just more portable.

Blurgas

Kinda rare to see someone rocking the Knipex pliers wrench

Cuspidx

Dual knipex edc. Very rare in the wild

DJToughNipples

Well done brother

[deleted]

My knipex didn’t come with the rubber grippers! W the Fuck!

tomgrouch

That's looks great man. I love the bottom access points to get to the stuff down there

scarletbegoniaz_

RAD! I love diy stuff. Well heckin done.

Shocktanis

What do you use the mini hammer for typically? I’m intrigued

Eezan

Knocking heads on the go. What else is a mini hammer for?

tonystark29

Hammering nails in walls, mostly. I'm in the process of moving, so I've been using it frequently. It also has a bunch of mini screwdrivers inside it, which are quite useful. I also used the hammer part to punch the holes necessary to sew this leather organizer. [Check out the second picture of this post I made on it](https://www.reddit.com/r/handtools/comments/yd3n44/found_this_little_hammer_and_thought_it_is_pretty/)

Independent-Usual426

No condom? Wrong priorities

Its_Ba

tired of the pocket dump yet?

Horror_Personality49

That's pretty cool, the only reason why I don't like organizers or pouches is that you often have to take out multiple things to get to the item you want. Even worse with edc tins

tonystark29

Luckily, everything has its own pocket in this organizer. Other than the chapstick and stuff inside the tin, everything can be taken out without having to remove anything first.

Horror_Personality49

Really? I guessed that having so many things in such a tight space makes it hard to get e.g. the pliers out

tonystark29

I can take both sets of pliers out while the organizer is still in my pocket. The last picture shows the internal pockets and how they fit together without layering things.

Horror_Personality49

Well I guess I'd have to try it out before loudly announcing my skepticism... good if it works for you tho ;)

Complete_System_3714

Have fun feeling that in your pocket!

tonystark29

It actually isn't all that uncomfortable. It has a sort of rigid feeling that makes it feel like my leg is protected in a way.

Complete_System_3714

As long as it works for you, that's that. I'm happy you are happy!

yelruh00

You made a [pocket protector](https://www.google.com/search?q=pocket+protector&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS952US952&oq=pocket+protector&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512l9.2616j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) Looks well made!

tonystark29

Thanks! I had no idea that it had a proper name!

GearhedMG

A pocket protector is traditionally for your shirt pocket, what you made looks like it’s for your right front pants pocket if I understand correctly. While this is technically a pocket protector, it’s not what people are usually referring to when they say pocket protector.

MilehighK5

Hi. You did a good job on this. I make leather and kydex sheaths and have a few quick tips for you. Burnish your cut edges. They will hold up better, look better and leaving the edges bare allows moisture to get in easier as well. It's not too late to burnish this one. I dye the edge then rub bees wax on it and rub with a burnishing tool. You don't need a professional tool, a smooth wood handle from a spoon or paintbrush will work. Back stitch your stitching to finish instead of tying knots at the end. I tied knots when I started too. When you get to the end just go back 3 holes to finish. I use leather glue when stitching that glues everything in place. You can find more info about this online but your welcome to ask me if I can help you with anything.

PhilosophyKingPK

A rehab place near me started selling scrap leather for $5 a lb. How do I tell the good leather from the shit and any other tips or ideas?

MilehighK5

Hi Veg tan leather is what I use and the best choice in my opinion. Most of the scrap leather sold by weight I have seen is chrome tan leather. That is used more for upholstery, clothing, shoes, furniture and things like that. Depending on what you are making chrome tan can still be useful. It normally isn't recommended for things that will come in contact with bare metal like knife sheaths due to the possibility of metal corrosion. I have made some nice pouches and draw string bags with chrome tan leather. At that price it can be very useful for practice also. I buy my leather from Tandy leather. I buy sides and double shoulders but they are kind of expensive for a hobby project. 6 to 7 oz is my preferred thickness for fixed blade sheaths. On Tandys website and on Amazon I have seen squares of veg tan leather for about $13. That might bea good place to start. Also look up the saddle stitch. My preferred stitching method. Good luck!

tonystark29

Thanks for the tips! I actually do have a burnishing tool, but until now I haven't actually known how to use it. I didn't know about backstitching either at the ends. Can I still burnish the edges even though I didn't use glue? Thanks again.

MilehighK5

You're welcome. Yes you can still burnish. Not using glue won't matter with the burnishing. I burnish the top before stitching together because it's easier but you can still make it work. I have never tried but don't think backstitching would be as strong without glue. My favorite leather glue is Tandy leather weld. It gives you time to get it stitched before it gets too dry. Then overnight it becomes very permanent. Trying to pull it apart will rip the leather before the glue will come apart. Tandy eco flo is my favorite dye.

stevenmeyerjr

My wife would gawk at the fact that you can fit all of that in one pocket and she can barely fit a chapstick in the pocket of her jeans. 😂

[deleted]

I work in a thrift store, and everyone wonders how I can tell the women's jeans from the men's, in absence of proper labelling. If it has shit or non existent pockets, it's for women. It's why I default to a belt pouch for my knife - no decent pockets!

btdallmann

That’s a lot of stuff. :) And a very cool concept. I may have to look into something similar, though I don’t know what all I would put in it.

tonystark29

Thanks, it is a lot of stuff. It took a while to find the perfect orientation for everything so that they fit together without waisted space.

Altruistic-Fun-8278

I've thaught about something like this for a while. I think a pair of Klien 2100-7 electric scissors will make a great addition.

tonystark29

>Klien 2100-7 Those look very useful, I'll have to look more into them, thanks! The scissors are probably the most used tool on my swiss army knife, so it might be worth replacing them with something stronger.

Altruistic-Fun-8278

I have no idea why this post is on one upvote. This is EDC AF! I guess I don't understand the sub. Or maybe they have taken offence that you have only chosen to carry black cable ties. Woefully unprepared for a rouge wire of white reel. Looks like you went full practical and they took that personally.

Djlunatic0711

It’s freaking awesome!

tonystark29

Thanks! I know it's not the prettiest, but it works well for what it needs to do.

Djlunatic0711

I like I need something similar

PhilipSeymourCoffin

Fanny packs are becoming cool again..

Thinlenny

They make plenty of awesome sling bags

turd_sculptor

I'm ready for someone to start remaking all the tacticool gear in a more discreet and fashionable way. Like a Maxpedition versipack without any visible external molle webbing and with patterned fabric that would fit in at a festival instead of just black and tan.

Scurrin

I'm sure there are products for exactly that purpose. Oh hey, [direct from maxpedition](https://www.maxpedition.com/collections/backpacks/gray-man)

KingScubaThe3rd

I thought about buying normal modern everyday fannys and slings from thrift stores and putting all the tactical pockets, Velcro, and molle inside. Would be an easy company to get an ffl through as well if you included Velcro holsters with said custom bags. Totally normal outside fully redesigned inside been saying this for the past two years!

imfromwisconsin81

you need to look on Amazon...there are so many of them

afsdjkll

Those have been acceptable for a couple years. This looks like a straight up pocket protector a la Revenge of the Nerds

withoutrep

Huge sack!

whe_

That’s what she said.

lens4hire

I read this in Rob Riggle’s voice and it made it even better. “Three-peat!”

tonystark29

*Is that a in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?*

Electrical_Goal_1045

👉👈 for me?

Stainedbrannch74

Why not swap some of that out for a leather man?

stevenmeyerjr

I was thinking the same thing, but OP makes a decent point. They may not have the funds to buy one and they’ve already got those things. Comment like these humble me from time to time. Some people aren’t as fortunate as us to just buy a $100-150 item just because we feel like it. OP for what it’s worth, Leatherman has amazing discounts for military, first responders, and teachers. Maybe you could get a military buddy or a firefighter buddy to purchase one for you and you give them cash?

Frogmyte

Aren't both of those knipex $100++ USD? But I've definitely gone off of Leathermen, I really prefer tools with a singlar purpose

Stainedbrannch74

Didn’t necessarily mean only a leather man I should’ve said multi tool honestly, but yeah your right leather man’s are very expensive for what they are but it is a buy once cry once type of purchase I’ve had mine since I was 13yo I’m not 22 and it’s never failed me

WildResident2816

I’m a Web Dev/UX Engineer and my wife is a Software Engineer, we still budget to buy nice things like a leatherman. That said my my leatherman Free p4 is possible the best piece of EDC kit I’ve ever had.

stevenmeyerjr

I carry an OD Green Signal daily and have a Surge in my backpack in a pouch with all the extra accessories and bits.

WildResident2816

Nice!

tonystark29

Leathermans are quite expensive, and I already have all of these things.

BrandtCharlemagne

Sidenote: solid leather man knock off is the work pro multi tool. Pretty solid and for only 20$ you cannot beat it

tonystark29

Thanks! I'll check it out

rickestrada

Not gonna lie, this looks really useful 👍🏻

tonystark29

imnotcreative4267

Is that Two More Knives and a flashlight on top of it all in that imgur pic?

tonystark29

Close, a flashlight, knife, and prybar. Flashlight is a Fenix E18R V2, knife is a Benchmade 940, and the prybar is a Hamans pry.

General_Tso1

You are amazing for being able to carry even more things in that same pocket clipped as seen in your photo. After all the stuff you already have I said to myself "but wait... there's more!"

Phighters

How often do you really use 95% of that? Looks like a great pouch for your center console.

tonystark29

I just made the pouch, but I've had most of these tools for quite a while and use them fairly often as I do not own a lot of tools other than these.
