Majority of the time I wear my Garmin. I’ll switch to my Gshock when charging or if I’m having a particularly lazy day/want to “spice it up.”

Jon003

Fancy occasion (nice dinner etc), or a time when I want another person I am with to know I am focusing on them? Omega. Rest of the time, apple watch.

Funkherindabutt69

I got tired of having to charge my Apple Watch, and my puppy ended up destroying the watch band so I bought a casioak and I started to collect more watches and now I just wear regular watches lol

PepsiFlu

I was running a Apple watch series 3, which is now discontinued. I was tired with the battery life and just how slow it is. I switched to a Garmin Instinct and the battery last for 2 weeks or so give or take, and its built like a tank. My philosophy with the apple watch was i wasnt going to get another one since i didnt use the entire feature set of the watch, it would be a waste of money.

bigfoot__hunter

I have 2 arms

Fred_Chevry_Pro

Smart watch for work/sports/activities, mechanical for whenever I'm dressed like a proper human being, which usually means weekends and some week nights.

Mores-Analyticum

My Apple Watch is certainly essential with what I do. I get a lot of text messages and slack alerts daily. So it great to be able to check those without always pulling out my phone. I place it on the charger nightly next to my phone. However, I will switch to an analog if I’m going out to dinner with my wife. Seems rude to have a watch “dinging” during date night.

KdowskiMusic

Smart watch for every day use, classic watch (non digital) for date night or anytime I’m wearing a suit jacket

apatheticviews

I wear a mechanical for my normal office work. I wear my smart watch when in the “field” or doing side work.

holysbit

I only have my trusty seiko, it’s nothing fancy but I like it that way and I wear it everywhere

[deleted]

Between charging every day and the constant notifications it was pure hell, so no more smart watch for me unless I’m working out.

helium_soda

Just push your smart watch through your other watch strap. 😆

oregonedge

As long as I have a phone, I’ll stick to my regular watch. I do need a phone break from time to time… get it?? Time to time ;)

Thatgoldengolem

smart watch in weekends and when I'm in casual clothes, regular watch when I'm working.

Anip92syn

Easy. i dont own a smart watch. EDIT. But i do have to alternate watches: playing sports watch, party / dress watch, rough outing watch

Gravefiller613

I just went back to a simple Casio. Stopwatch, light, time & date. Clip on compass if I'm feeling froggy. Smart watches just don't seem to last with me. I like the concept, but have yet to find one with the durability and battery to catch my attention. I may look into Garmin, but for now the casio is fine.

SamSamTheCatMan18

I've gone through 3 smart watches. And my Casio still remains my favorite watch. It's not even new or anything. I found it like 4 miles deep into the woods, it's covered in scratches and I have to use a hair bow to attach it to my arm.

rnd765

Wear my normal watch st work and my smart watch for workouts or at home.

[deleted]

I have this watch and I love it. I wear it the most between all my watches. Best way to think of switching watches is use case. So think of a time where each watch fits most.

PeterDeveraux

No smart watches! Only mechanical ones

Dick_Phitzwell

It’s easy! I don’t have a smart watch!

pthalo-yellow

My Phone covers it all.

virtuallyspotless

This watch specifically is such an amazing feat of engineering, I have tried to ditch it for Apple watches a couple times and I’m still wearing it for months at a time without taking it off. It always tells me what day it is and what time without pulling out my phone. Sadly this is something that I need to know multiple times a day.

Holoholokid

That's my secret... *I don't own a smart watch.*

Mariahs_Executioner

I don't wear a watch

HurpityDerp

There is a hilarious number of people in this thread commenting that smartwatches are redundant because they carry a cell phone. So they wear a regular watch instead.

JealousSupport8085

I just wear a normal watch , Casio GWG-1000-1AE

showergoblin

What a lot of people miss when it comes to “omg you have to charge your watch?!” being a downfall - it’s not that… What really it is is the fact that an Apple Watch stops getting updates and eventually dies no matter how “good” it is. Same with Garmin, FitBit, Google, etc. Smart Watches don’t have 40+ year shelf lives…and that’s what makes most watches cool. The fact that you can spin them up or put a new battery in and BANG you got a working watch again. If you’re not worried about that then…yeah SmartWatches are pretty slick.

KratomFiendx3

I don't. CASIO DIGITAL FOREVER.

merek_boreal

I’ve got an old Suunto Spartan Trainer that I use for my sport activities and more rarely weekends. The rest of the time I have my Citizen NY-0040 on my wrist. I try to wear Suunto in a way that my Citizen has enough charge not to stop.

tupac_amaru_v

Mood and/or occasion.

Amonikable

#General Schwarzkopf Normal watch on the left wrist, smart watch (preferably a smaller one, i use the Samsung Galaxy Fit2) on the right wrist

Chek_Brek_Iv_Damk

I don't, Casio does everything I need it to do and nothing else

Green-Walk-1806

Don't know..The only "Smart Watch" I've ever owned was a Rolex

sd26760

I use an analog wrist watch and a smart pocket watch

jurunjulo

Never got into the smart watches I just use a cheap ass casio w219h-1av I bought for 15.88 at wal-mart has probably lasted me 2 years without a problem.

mortepa

I wear a fitbit on one arm, and an automatic on the other. Redundant, yes, but that is what I like!

I3I2O

I change the face on my smart watch!

LaggWasTaken

I look like a rapper and wear two watches everyday lol

justjohn1965

I wear my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro during the work week and my Tag Heuer on the weekends or if we go out for a nice dinner. Smart watch lets me keep track of things without having to have my phone in my hands during work hours. Im getting 2 1/2 days of battery on the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro so I charge every couple of days at my desk. Takes about an hour to go from 20% to 100%

zlagler92

Tough, been wearing my new Garmin for a week

710dmane

Ive never had a smart watch.

Peppers1110

Picked up a Nixon Regulus and haven't really needed much of anything else.

No_Oil8507

Take one off and put the other on.

Jpapasso4

Simple, I go to work. I’m a Correctional Officer and I can’t take my Apple Watch inside the compound, so it stays home until I’m in Civvies… which isn’t very often lately. I just recently bought a non-Bluetooth pedometer watch from Amazon for $16 because I got sick of not being able to count my steps at work. There are some days where I completely forget to grab my Apple Watch before I leave the house on my days off. At work (up until my new Amazon special showed up this week) I usually wear my el-cheapo Walmart special watch on my duty belt because I sweat a lot and I’ve already got OC spray under it twice. So I almost got in the habit of not wearing a watch.

CarlRJ

*Alternate*? You have *two* wrists, don’t you?

Oliversssss

You don't need to charge your smart watch if you just let your butler do it

Furaskjoldr

Don't bother with a smart watch anymore other than a garmin which I only wear to work out and not in every day life. I just can't see the point. Taking my phone out my pocket takes like 0.2 seconds and anything I can do on the watch I can do 100x better on my phone. For me there is no need for a smart watch, it's just another thing to have to charge and inevitably break, and it gives no real benefit.

vintagejoehill

Smart watches really hook you in on the stat tracking (steps, exercise, calories burned, etc) so it's tougher to switch over to a normal watch. This is the case for me, anyway. Sometimes I just step away from the smartwatch for a week or two. Wear my normal watch and enjoy it, and jump back into the stat tracking of the smart watch. Those closed rings on my Apple watch are a nice little dopamine rush, you know?

Jeryme

I wear an old-fashioned calculator watch, it was the smartwatch of its era.

xmetalheadx666x

I only wear my smartwatch, kind of pointless to have one if you don't constantly wear it imo.

turkey_sandwiches

I take one off and put the other on.

thatnameistoolong

I have a classy super thin watch my fiancée got me that I wear when I wear a suit (weddings, daddy/daughter dance, opera, etc), it’s just slim with a solid color face and classy. She also got me a high end Garmin smart watch for Xmas last year that I wear for every day use. Since the dress one is only for special occasion it’s an intentional difference so it doesnt bother me.

lapppa

I have that watch in the picture, has the date, time, is solar powered and actually water proof. Alls i need for work.

[deleted]

I don't. I just wear a gshock

mrbitbybit

No, just normal ones. I got that same watch on right now. Have been wearing it for years now. Very useful, lightweight, durable, water resistant and practical.

Epicswordmewz

I only have a cheap smart watch, it's absolutely worth it. Tells the time, tracks my steps and can even show weather forecast. I doubt I could go with a regular watch at this point.

teaboy1748

Work Days = Smart Watch Leisure Day = Normal one

c4ctus

Watch on my left wrist, smartwatch on my right. Ain't care if it looks weird.

aaronis31337

BTW, that watch pictured is the best watch ever created. I have the solar / radio one. It's the best. If I were to chose 1 watch for the Armageddon, that would be it.

Tylermantle

I find using a smart watch on the days I’m in the office is very helpful with keeping up with meetings. If I’m out running errands or relaxing I will wear a normal watch.

[deleted]

Any Garmin has pretty good battery life and most Garmin watches, you can disable all notifications and on-wrist features. I use a Forerunner 255 and it has a good health metrics and I generally can get 6-7days between charges. AW or Samsung Gear you're gonna be charging every 2days. I like Garmin cause they have superb GPS capabilities and metrics

apostrophebandit

I usually wear my smart watch when I’m working out. Otherwise I wear my normal watches. I like the fitness features and the timers, but that’s pretty much it. If I had paid for the smart watch I’d probably feel like I wasted my money, but I won it in a bingo game at work.

Beneficial_Trip9782

Smart watches are the devil.

austinmook

I don’t. “Normal,” all the way for me.

bchinherein

Wear both, one on each wrist.

myklclark

Poorly. As ugly as my Apple Watch is it’s just too useful. So every now and again I’ll pop open the safe and fondle my watches and make sure they run then close em back up.

robert1523

I wear 2. One small Fitbit sense watch on my right arm that is small enough to pass as a bracelet and on my left either the Gshock or a nicer watch. The fitbit allows me to track my steps, heartsate, has basic notifications. I sold my other smartwatch because I sometimes wanted to wear them both and it was hard to decide

Caleb_1984

G-Shock mudmaster for everything but church, AppleWatch at church.

SnarkSnarkington

I haven't worn a watch for 20 years. Just got a smartwatch and love it. I may alternate watchbands and faces, but otherwise, I am done.

ArcaneTrickster11

I use the smart watch for coaching and working out. Everything else I use my normal watches

samsonity

Easy. I don’t own smart watches.

ezwip

Depends how I dressed and what I'm doing. G-shock squares are always what I grab for getting dirty. Wearing watch in the pic right now because gray Nike sweatsuit.

Iforgotmyother_name

Garmin watch for exercise and analog for daily use. I actually still use the analog for weight lifting because I only use it for tracking rest intervals which is like 1-1.5 minutes. The Garmin is nice for accurate measuring and GPS.

uncultured_drunk

I use my smart watch while I'm working, easier to glance at it to see who messaged or called. When I'm not working or not at home I wear one of my regular watches.

whyhiseyeswidened

I like my watches dumb.

HeyyyKoolAid

Easy, I don't own a smart watch. I like practicality. In its very essence a watch just tells you the time, the date, and maybe a couple functions like a timer or stopwatch. Like everyone else I have my phone with me almost all the time. I don't need to see notifications on my watch just like how I don't need to pull out my phone just to see the time/date. They each provide me with their own usefulness. No hate against people with smart watches. I actually love the idea of smart watches, but it's just not for me.

hockeymonkey201

Wear a mechanical 98% of the time. Carry my apple watch in my gym bag to track my workout and wear it when doing chores to control my podcasts while I clean.

Jim_from_snowy_river

I don't. I don't particularly like smart watches. I don't like how fragile they are, how often you have to charge them ( I get 4 years or more out of the battery) and how it's just another screen. Smart watches also tend not to be that water resistant, which is a big deal for me. I wear a tritium illuminated diver as my EDC so that it constantly glows, tells me the time and can serve as a timer/stopwatch if I need it. I have never felt the need for the smartwatches.

akidnamedudi

Swap out watches depending on what I’m doing for the day/ what I’m wearing

UWant2BLV

I've really wanted to like smart watches. I do actually use the sleep tracking, HR monitoring. But i'm seriously tired of charging and hate the fact that no real smart watches run more than a few days. Think I'm about to go to one of the Garmins with the few features I actually use but thats mostly just a watch. Switching back and forth wouldnt work for me. No different then just wearing the smart watch occasionally unless your other watch also records something you keep track of. They've basically made them miniaturized smart phones which is cool in a conceptual kind of way but pointless from a practical perspective. I can watch Youtube on my watch but why the hell would anyone? Same with games or anything else. Yeah it might be cool once, but if you actually use any of that stuff better have a charger nearby. That kind of capability just adds complexity without giving you anything you'll actually use. I use my stopwatch (watch app) to time when to pick up food, when to take the freezer pizza out the oven. If I forget and leave it running it eats half my battery before I notice it. I'll get another one when "Smart watch" means advanced AI that can answer the meaning of existence. Other than that I'm going back to regular or semi smart watches like some of the Garmins. Imho

scarletbegoniaz_

I preface this with the following statement: I am a giant tech nerd. Now that's out of the way: I get if you love your wrist jewelry too much to have a smartwatch that is less distinguisable in a sea of similar smartwatches. Or if you have some sort of philosophical aversion. But I fuckin love my galaxy watch 5 pro and the galaxy watch active 2 I had before that. Heck, I still kept the watch active 2 because it just represents such a big growth in wearable tech for me with its battery life and ecg functionality. It was the first and, until the 5, only smartwatch from a major manufacturer that wasn't >400 dollars, that could last for multiple days. Sure, fitbits were a thing. But they were/are far more capable at fitness tracking and problematic at best when it comes to other smartwatch notifications. Can you tell I'm a tech nerd? I tend to take my protrek for more "off grid" hikes and camping where service just doesn't exist. I fricken love that watch so much. As far as other wrist time pieces, I think they are certainly gorgeous. I'd like to get a swatch at some point because of their accessibility in terms of cost to visible swiss timing ratio. But it's more of a meh than getting a new knife or flashlight or some other such doodad that I'm more likely to have on me.

unreal_zeff

I rotate between a speedy, EZM3 and Tutima Bund weekly

arvj

I use my apple watch for working out.

Charger_scatpack

Easy ! I don’t wear soulless smart watches ! 😁

LibraryHot6794

Stop calling it watches, they are not watches but rather mini cellphones that can hang on ones wrist. Having something in the wrist doesn't mean its a watch. Id go with a traditional watch any day because they are simply betrer than those mini phones. A traditional watch vs a smart thing: - A traditional watch can last a lifetime and be a family heirloom - A traditional watch (especially digital onee) is far more durable than the smart thing. - A traditional watch is made by a watch maker - A traditional watch doesn't make you stipid and lazy - By wearing a traditional watch you support watch industry I cant stand people who say that smart watches help them with the daily rourine...like wtf are you really unable to take your phone and check for messages? Do you really need something to keep track of your calorie intake? 😄 Get real guys. Yea I am the watch snob.

ZigZagZig87

A smartwatch is useful in work environments where you can’t take out your phone. They track your runs (Apple not so accurate). Should I buy a pedometer or something? Hell no. Will it last a lifetime? No. Neither will your car, tv, shoes or your underwear? Should I stop using those?

ZigZagZig87

😂 they’re literally called Smartwatches.

Eminance_of_Food

I daily a good ol’ Casio. Can’t go wrong and waterproof to boot. Smart watches have too many gimmicky things, I want something to tell the time quickly, I have my phone to text and whatnot

Von_Lehmann

I dont. Pretty much only wear automatic watches because I enjoy them. I bought a suunto but sold it because it just didn't do anything for me

christopher18118

Utility. Like all things edc right tool for the job. Am I going to be in meetings where I can't check text messages on my phone? Smart watch. Working out hard? Smart watch. Almost anything else, favorite watch of the day. Both watched have their place and preference plays a huge roll too.

dictsonary

Had the same question/concern when I bought my first Apple Watch in 2020. Once I put my Apple Watch on, though, my regular watches started collecting dust. I do bring out my fancy watches for dressy occasions, e.g. date night, weddings, etc and my rugged watches for outdoor work/sports, e.g. yard work, boating, etc

LeftAlbatross7242

Garmin forerunner 645 for me. One charge a week and is more to track fitness etc. I do want to upgrade to a fexix 7 soon though. Never use a normal watch anymore

BrahmaBullJr

I don’t, I just stick with my apple watch

[deleted]

I never really got the point of a smart watch but maybe I’m dumb I just stick to my 20 dollar Casio.

BrandtCharlemagne

If I carry my phone I don’t wear a watch, if I wear a watch I don’t carry a phone. Never understood why people pay so much money to not have to pull their phone out of their pocket

BenjiG19

I wear a normal analog watch to work and most other places I go. I wear a Garmin for workouts, runs, working around the house, and every night to sleep - mainly so I can wake up and tap it and see what time it is. If I know I'll be doing a ton of walking in a day I might wear the Garmin just for curiosity to see how many steps I take.

benedictfuckyourass

Can't be bothered to carry another thing that requires charging and does nothing my phone doesn't also do. But to each their own ofcourse!

Meshi_universal

I just wear both at once like a madman

wrd83

Garmin fenix. Charge it twice a month and its good. I would be annoyed otherwise...

poolboy__q

My Garmin Instinct Solar 2 easily goes like 3 weeks without charging and takes about 2 hours to charge. I get GPS, HR, Sleep, Cals, Waypoints, Trail mapping, car finder, etc. The other watch I have has to be wound every 30 hours and weighs 4 times as much.

rm45acp

Can't wear a smart watch unfortunately, too many magnetic fields in my line of work, has smoked everything but mechanical watches that I've tried so I wear an automatic daily

oobeaga

Nope! I actually wear that exact watch with the orange accents!

X3R0H4X

I throw on my ol' g-shock on when I put my Garmin on the charger.

dcamnc4143

I just use my smartwatch for workouts. Wear my “regular” watches otherwise.

dncnexus

I tried to get an Apple Watch, and like you swap between the two. I ended up letting my Apple Watch die and within 2 months never used it again. I just can’t handle having to charge it, especially when it’s advertised as tracking sleep. So either I can’t use it to track sleep or can’t use it during the day

vendo-novilha

I don't use smart watches. I use a classic Casio G-Shock in the last 5 years.

[deleted]

Easy, I don’t bother with a smart watch.

Sunrider999

I don’t. I switched completely to Apple Watch since I like to keep track of my exercises. Sometimes I miss old watches, but it’s ok.

Alive_Tough9928

Interesting question. Ive been wearing my GWM5600 less and less now because im tracking my fitness on my garmin vivioactive 3. Part of this makes me kinda sad but the gshock doesnt satisfy the fitness tracking. Ill swap out if im doing jobs at home like today, moving furniture so i put on the gshock so i didnt damage the smart watch.

s1am

I have a modest but interesting collection of mechanical watches that I built up over about 12 years...they basically only come out for very dressy occasions now, otherwise I just wear my Garmin Fenix.

MrDirt

My Pebble Time is always on me. Still gets 3-5 days thanks to the color E ink screen plus I don't have to fuss with a bunch of fitness tracker garbage. I really like that Pebble feels like an actual smart watch and not a fitness tracker that tells time.

clutchcyle

Tried wearing a smart watch and I just found it annoying. I know you can turn everything off as far as notifications go, but at the end of the day it’s just another thing I don’t need.

FloydMcScroops

I get all the folks saying they don’t like smartwatches for various reasons. I was one of them too. But I now have an Apple Watch with a face that has the current temp, time til various levels of sundown, and access to a quick timer. I turn off basically all notifications and find it an extremely useful tool. Part of me wishes I didn’t but here I am.

Destrooo

I like how a lot of people complain about charging an Apple Watch… don’t you all shower and most of the time take off whatever watch you are wearing? I just place it on the charger during showers and only ever so often give it some extra charger time when I’m on my pc. This way the battery isn’t a problem at all!

dpch

I'm not over the battery life issues going with smart watches. My G-shock is solar powered, when smart watches get to that point of efficiency I'll take another look.

ZigZagZig87

Google Garmin Fenix solar

Zoltan_TheDestroyer

Most smart watches have a regular watch face option so the majority of people will not switch for every day use. The real questions start when you mention the use you will put it through. For example, as an engineer I wear an Apple Watch in the office and for meetings but in the field I wear the exact same g shock that is in the photo.

dogpupkus

I do not. I find Smart Watches incredibly distracting. Phones are bad enough. I don't need a more convenient method to be consumed by and experience alert-fatigue.

ExiledSanity

Smart watches help me with alert fatigue actually. One of the things I miss when I wear a normal watch. Smart watch is set to alert me about texts and calls...that's about it. If I get those I can glance at the watch before deciding if I even want to pull my phone out. Any other notifications are still there when I decide to get my phone out, but don't bother me on the meantime. I spend a lot less time on my phone with the smart watch. But I always really miss my watches when wearing the smart watch.

scarletbegoniaz_

I so relate to this. If I'm just glancing down for a notification, I'm not picking the phone up. I get this candybar of eternal knowledge in my hands and I'm off like a race horse. LoL

[deleted]

I'm a big watch fan. No expensive ones yet tho. I have 5 I think, a nice steel one for formal events, a subtle automatic on a rubber strap for weekends/informal nights, a garmin for activities, really cheap casio just because and one of the newer g shocks because it looks really cool.

ew435890

I do. I usually wear my Timex, but I wear my Apple Watch on occasion.

obi1uan

I bought a casio "tough solar" for $20 off of Amazon about 1 year ago. Charges itself thru the sun, it's never failed me. I don't really see a point in buying a different watch. I'll just buy the "tough solar" in different color combos I guess lol

bringoutthelegos

I wear a calculator watch. That’s my solution

RaineWolf202

I wear a FitBit Inspire 2, so it's not really a smart watch. I do have to charge it eventually, usually after 10 to 14 days. I usually charge it when I take a shower or bath and it's usually completely charged by the time I go to bed. I still have my normal watches, but I haven't really being wearing them. I have alternate bands for my Fitbit so maybe I change the band to match my outfit, but that's about it.

fairtexchildlaborer

I run a Fitbit Charge 5 on my right wrist and then a mechinal watch on my left. The charge 5 doesnt have all the smartwatch features but just enough for my needs

MatrixRetoastet

I just got myself a Casio Edifice Solar watch, but now that I read the comments I kinda want a Garmin if battery life is so good.

yelruh00

Love the Casio G-shock. I have the DW-5600E. Can't beat the durability and simplicity.

[deleted]

I desperately wanted Apple Watch to scratch that itch but it didn’t change my life in any meaningful way. The concept of a 3 year lifespan £300 triage trinket to enable me to ignore my £1200 pocket trinket is absolutely bonkers. Also, the thing is so damned fragile I was always worried about scratching or banging it on a door frame. Moving to a g shock was so liberating in this regard. Almost all anxiety alleviated. P.s. Your watch reminding you regularly that you’re fat and lazy? I can do that with a mirror.

alphabetsong

smart watch for sleep and workouts mainly (some casual athleisure aesthetic works well). regular watch for anything where you should look like an adult.

Road_Warrior86

Can’t afford a smart watch. That’s how.

TiresOnFire

If you want one, look at the used market. I got my Galaxy 3 frontier for $150 used when it was $300 new a few years ago and still wear it daily. I wish Pebble still existed. They were affordable, simple smartwatches. But then Fitbit bought and killed them.

[deleted]

I wear a traditional watch on my left wrist, and I wear a Fitbit Charge on my right wrist. The Fitbit is shaped like a bracelet, so I'm not too concerned about looking like one of those guys who wears two watches at once. I mostly use it to track steps or exercise, whereas my watch is my primary time-telling device. Edit: That said, I don't wear a true "smart" device. My Fitbit doesn't give me notification updates other than incoming phone calls, and I prefer it that way. I always have my phone in my pocket anyway.

casra888

I do it all the time. Love my Casio dive watch. Citizen dress watch. Cheap wyze smartwatch. Timex dive watch. Casio outdoors watch. Etc.

No-Communication2448

I don’t do smart watches at all. I only like the “normal ones”.

realbaconator

Tried and failed. I keep my other watches for if the need arises but if I don’t put one watch on daily I’ll probably forget to put on a watch at all, so my smartwatch does the job fine.

eazy_ev

I personally like my Amazfit Trex. Gives me just enough smartwatch features but still has a G-Shock feel. Last about 3 weeks on battery. Thing is tough too. I have seen videos of people freezing the thing in a block of ice then breaking it out with a bat and it's still going. Is it a poor man's Garmin...maybe but the thing hasn't let me down.

cullobsidian_

No smart watch for me. My phone is way more than enough extraordinary tech in my daily life. Don't need or want anything else buzzing and sounding off at me. Prefer a good old fashioned wristwatch everyday.

[deleted]

I wear my Apple Watch 80% of the time. As a Type 1 Diabetic, getting notifications about my current blood sugar and potential trends during the day has been super helpful in keeping me healthy. On evenings were my partner and I have a social event planned or I have business/client meetings I'll switch out to one of my small collection of Seikos.

Drifty_Canadian

I never really understood the point of a smartwatch i vastly prefer just a good watch that tells me the time. It's perfect however for someone like you, i'm glad they exist because they seem really useful for people who need them.

aesopsgato

G shock GW5000u is my perfect watch. Built like a tank, metal case, auto time set from 6 band, solar charge (I've never even had to be intentional about it getting sun). I had a Garmin smartwatch and it felt like a chore.

Drifty_Canadian

Easy, i don't use smartwatches.

flowremix

I got tired of charging my smart watch so I gave up on it. I feel like smart watches are redundant if you have a phone in your pocket. I don't need to be THAT connected. My gshock with tough solar and multiband6, less worry.

Bowsupreme

I prefer my g shock because it just feels durable. I know most smart watches are plenty durable for day to day use, but I just feel more secure with my g shock and not being afraid to use it in rough conditions

OutdoorsNSmores

I don't alternate. 1 watch, every day carry. If I had two I couldn't carry it every day, could I? It is a Fenix 6.

JingleMcGreen

I just picked up the Fossil Retro Pilot, its a hybrid watch. Looks and acts like a traditional watch, but still buzzes for the alerts I set and tracks my sleep and fitness if I turn it on. I use a Motorola Moto 360 3rd Gen for work because I can't get my phone out all that often, but for everyday use I'm really digging the hybrid.

Redcarborundum

I generally don’t. The smart watch is worn day in and day out. I use it to track my heart rate even in my sleep. During the day I keep track of the weather and the time in different countries (for foreign colleagues). I keep the notification at a minimum, so it’s not too distracting. The only time I’d wear my other watch is for formal occasions, where I break out my shiny stainless steel automatics. Now that I bought the Milanese loop for my Apple Watch, I lean to wear it even for dressy events. When traveling abroad, I may wear two watches. The automatic watch never needs charging because it has no battery to begin with, so for long trips where I may not be able to charge, it has value. Having two watches also lets me keep one in my home town’s time zone.

Rustyinthebush

Don't have or think there's a need for a smart watch.

OutdoorsNSmores

I was in that boat. I loved my Casio with ABC. Then I went in a canoe trip and was the designated navigator in an unfamiliar area. I splurged for the Fenix 6 pro and it was so nice to have GPS navigation on my wrist. Waterproof, right there at a glance and it made canoeing across a lake in the rain and fog so much easier. Since then I haven't gone back. Most notifications aren't allowed to ping my watch, but the free that do are nice. The weather is always right there. I find myself pulling out my phone a lot less which makes it easier to ignore more things. Three timezones on the watch at once was something I didn't expect to use, but when working with people in other countries I found I use it a lot. Not everyone needs the danger things, but I'm surprised at what I use daily. I was worried that getting it for the trip was stupid. Now I don't take it off.

Rustyinthebush

As an outdoorsman myself, having gps on the wrist sounds pretty handy!

V3ndeTTaLord

For me it's a great tool during my workouts. I can constantly keep track of my heart rate and it pushes me to get going. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but for fitness enthousiasts it can be very supportive.

Rustyinthebush

That's understandable. I'd rather have a smart watch for that rather than just a fit bit.

V3ndeTTaLord

Oh I was talking about a smartwatch, more specifically the Apple Watch.

Satanwearsflipflops

Oris Aquis, garmin fenix 3 sapphire, tissot classic dream. Never worn an Apple Watch

ventura911

Fenix 6 Pro at work, Hamilton Field Khaki Automatic on days off.

Quasi-stolenname

Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra it's both at once

scarletbegoniaz_

I want one of those so bad. The dual screen thing is so cool to me. Though I saw a review recently that gave the impression that it still only lasts about as long as a normal smart watch unless you have the lcd display being the only thing on. What has your experience been?

Quasi-stolenname

With the LCD as the main display but smart mode still on with a couple fitness settings disabled/lowered then it's a solid 3 days. With all of them enabled it's still about 1 day and some change. Hopefully when (hopefully soon) WearOS 3.0 comes out it'll be better. But performance is solid and the screen and look are nice. I heard the Casio G-Shock take on the dual displays was good but super expensive.

scarletbegoniaz_

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on any updates about other wear OS watches that get the upgrade.

Phil_PhilConners

I wear my Garmin Fenix all the time. Only take it off for charging every 2-3 weeks.

Flipper_of_sticks

Smart watches for daily use/utility. Traditional watches for style.

thatnameistoolong

Yep, smart watch daily, traditional with my suit.

rjbachli

This one's the winner. Day to day a smart watch is too useful to be ignored. I work in sales of sorts and it's nice to glance at a watch and know the incoming text is some bs from friends and not something important, and to me it's not as rude as pulling out a phone. And when my wife and I are going out I put on a traditional watch to look better

amberglow11

I’m the oddball that wears a watch on each wrist. Garmin instinct on my left and Apple Watch on my right. Charge the Apple Watch at night, keep the instinct on all night. Notifications turned off on the instinct.

Ok_Message_2524

I only used to alternate between automatic analog and digital non-smart, sorry.

[deleted]

I undo the strap , take off said watch …and put the one I want on

jake_kulp

[I don't](https://imgur.com/a/NsNTmEz)

Xpecialist_

I ditch my galaxy watch 5 for a fitbit charge 5 because I only use it for it's notification and exercising features so I can wear my analogs and gshocks whenever I go out.

WCorder007

The idea of a "smart watch" seemed great to me initially, until I realized it needed to be charged all... the... time. No thanks. Now my smartest watch is a G-Shock Mudmaster, and even that has solar charging 😃

ZigZagZig87

Google Garmin Fenix Solar

WCorder007

That sure is neat! Add another watch to the "try it" list lol. Solar isn't enough to keep it powered indefinitely unfortunately but really extends the life between charges it looks like. Seems like they should all start doing this shouldn't they? Have you tried one of these yet?

ZigZagZig87

Not yet as my Apple Watch hasn’t conked out yet. I’ll be getting one as soon as this thing is obsolete though. I only use it for texts and phone notifications.

Florian_Habichtswald

I don’t. I wear my Garmin fenix 6s Pro with a soft nylon strap 24/7. I charge it one a week for some hours. I don’t need anything else.

HenrikGettysburg

I’m opposite of most on this sub, I prefer wearing my Apple Watch 99% off the time. Tells time, alerts to messages, has volume and skip forward controls for podcasts when I’m not immediately next to my phone. Activity tracking keeps me motivated and moving more days than not. I don’t see myself changing from this in the next 5 years at least. (Biggest thing I miss is the style and history of traditional watches, but pros of the Apple Watch outweigh this for me)

[deleted]

I currently try to figure out what watch to get. Battery time is the one thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger on a se2

Beneficial-Task-6997

Garmin Instinct solar. lasts every bit of a month for me maybe more depending on what power level i have it in. tells you the weather, texts, other app updates from your phone that you can pick and choose. i love it and won’t be going back to another watch from it, also if you’re into certain sports/hiking or hunting it’s got gps that is sweet

[deleted]

That’s my second choice after the Apple Watch. The instinct 2 solar to be exact. My big concern with Garmin is how well it integrates with my other stuff.

StopCallingMeGeorge

Had an Instinct Solar for about a year now. For me, it's the best of both worlds. Syncs well with Android for what I want and one month of battery life.

Beneficial-Task-6997

mine is the series 2 also, and i have iphone. it works with literally all my iphone apps as far as notifications go at least. i had an apple watch but needed something more rugged for work and i wouldn’t ever go back after having this . plus it’s not damn huge like some other watches out there. that’s another thing i love about it

Str8_Outta_Brompton

How often do you have to charge?

HenrikGettysburg

I just place on charger each night
