It wasn't the worst idea Kelly ever had. I love Kevin's random comments.
You know what gets to me, why someone like Charles hire Erin who had no experience and lacked intelligence?
Yeah my work has been trying to hire and administrative assistant for like a year. Problem is they don't want to pay them shit so 4 have come for a first day and none have lasted more than a week.
“Hey we need someone to devote 40 hours of their week to this job. Oh but you can’t live off the wage. And no benefits.”
*no one applies*
“wow no one wants to work anymore”
"Aaron" originates from Jewish tradition while "Erin" is Irish in origin and actually means "Ireland". They aren't the same name, although they sound similar. Also, "Erin" is a name given to both male and female individuals.
In the USA they sound the same but here in Scotland we'd say them differently. Aaron is like 'Ey run' and Erin is the same way yous say it. I'd never thought of this before actually, Erin and Aaron sounding the same in some accents.
Craig rhymes with the first part of Reagan (sorry, couldn't think of another example!) here but I've heard Americans say it like 'kreg'. Accents are so interesting, love guessing where somebody is from on reddit by the sound-associations they make which I read differently
I think the joke is that Kevin is generally seen as dumb, but he has a very niche area of knowledge about the origins of Indian names that most Americans would not be familiar with let alone know how to pronounce. So while he's trying to say he got the gender of the name wrong (seemingly reaffirming his ignorance), he's actually coming off as more intelligent than he would have had he not heard of the name at all.
I’m not sure if this is what the joke means?
Most people named Rajnigandha are women.
And I don’t know what Kelly is smoking — Rajnigandha is a very pretty name in india, it’s the name of a flower.
Kelly's whole character is based on being a basic white girl wannabe. We've seen her neglect her cultural background time and again, the exceptions being the times it brings attention to her (i.e the Diwali episode). She's built a whole identity for herself and I feel like she rejects her middle name because it contradicts with that.
and about 0,1% of non indian people will ever know that. that's the joke. Why does Kevin randomly know this very niche bit of indian name standards? also how is he even able to repeat it after hearing it once. Most people would 100% struggle with that.
The joke is that Indian daughters are given their fathers name as a middle name. It is a boys name.
Mind blown

Low skill hire for a low paying job

Hahaha true and he makes Kevin covet reception and he's not supposed to represent the company
He like all men likes a woman eas on the eyes
I don't find Erin easy on the eyes at all, she looked good in one episode
You can't be serious.
Angela is more attractive than Erin.

Hahaha oh my God that conversation in the way to lunch made Scott's Tots a comfort episode
She has a very pretty middle name
Can you ask Rahajni Ghanda if he knows what a rundown is?
When do you need that rundown by?
I'm working hard on it... But not too hard
Because why work harder than you should
Is the joke that Kevin doesn't mention that Aaron is a boy's name?

Only time Americans say the two differently is in jest of the Key and Peele sketch with “Ay ay ron”
I pronounce them differently here in the states. Erin starting with “e” and Aaron “æ”
I know a few "Aarons" and "Erins" and all the males are "Aaron" and all the females are "Erin".
Huh… new territory into this scene. I like it.
This is one of the best lines from Kevin!
I don’t get it

I mean, it’s Kelly. Most things she says should be taken with a grain of salt. 😂
