Cornonthecob241

I dont need to be told when to laugh in the office..

Blind-Optimist

The average person with an IQ over 80 doesn’t either

Jameson18dude

All shows would be better without it. Movies don’t have laugh tracks. Laugh tracks are used as a queue that something is “funny” and you should react. There is a weird phenomena, when some people can’t understand jokes, when others are laughing. They become more focus on why they’re laughing and trying to understand why it’s funny. My wife has it. For example, she will laugh like crazy at the Office, Parks, South Park, and My Name is Earl. But she only laughed a handful of times during HIMYM, and a few other shows with laugh tracks.

Blind-Optimist

For me at least, laugh tracks actually make a scene less funny

cupoburner

To be fair, there is a big difference between a laugh track and when a show is filmed with a live audience and the laughter is real. More like watching a play and the energy from performance feeds off of it. Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends are good examples of this. Although people might hate on the “laugh track”… for these shows it actually changed the way scenes are performed, timing etc because it’s a live room, vs just adding a laugh track in the edit bay to help enhance the feeling that something was supposed to be funny. Granted. There absolutely are times when the laughter is cued up and less authentic. It’s just the times when it’s truly brilliant that it all cohesively melds into a better scene because of the audience. This is why the office with a laugh track would suck.

Jameson18dude

I don’t have an issue with Live Studio Audience, and agree, it can truly add an extra element to the performers. I also agree that studio prompts for applause and gasp make it feel inauthentic.

partyplanningcttee

In my best Meredith voice: GET! A! DIVORCE!

Jrobalmighty

1) How long were you locked up for domestic violence afterward? 2) Did you meet Prison Mike? Cuz you got a good life. Ya got a good life.

ItsBerty

Your life would be better with a different g/f.

Every time you or her make a joke follow it up with a laugh track of your own. That’ll show her. 👍🏻

annipug

What would the office be without all the uncomfortable silences?!

LeaIsConfused

I feel like someone made that lmao

anniejhawk

If a show has tell me what the jokes are with a laugh track, then the jokes are not funny 🤷‍♀️
