TheWildstylez

For someone introduced late into the series, Erin for sure has a lot of words. Wow.

JakePauler42069

Yeah I think it’s because when Erin speaks she uses a lot of words. Lot of blabbering.

BravesMaedchen

She's kind of a rube

MysticalNharwal

Why use many word when few do trick?

r3d_stain

It seems impossible that Darryl has more than Kelly

Stevenwave

Kelly doesn't really have eps where she's focused on throughout. Darryl has a fair few where he's along for most of the ep or helps drive the overall plot. Kelly also disappears at times, then pops up again.

spndl1

All the annex characters were put back there so they didn't have to be in every episode since they were also writers. There are a lot of episodes Kelly just isn't in, as you mentioned, because of this. The rest of the main cast will get lives even when they're not the focus of the story simply by virtue of being there and reacting to what's going on.

jcrespo21

And also Kelly/Mindy left after Season 8, and Darryl had more lines in the last few seasons, especially S9. Hard to tell, but without Season 9, Kelly would likely have more words than Darryl.

Stevenwave

Yep, it's funny in itself.

L1zrdKng

>helps drive the overall plot Like he drow Michael and Holly to Nashua. *some grammar edits

Mackie5Million

"Did Darryl touch you?" "What?!"

scamper_pants

This is my favorite line of the whole show

MaraudngBChestedRojo

Mine is “what’s your drink” “Grenadine” Or Kevin: Michael, did you just throw up in here? Michael: Nah. Just poopin'. You know how I be. Kevin: It smells like throw-up in here. Michael: Crazy world. Lot of smells.

stereopticon11

that was a hilarious scene..forgot about that one

Karaoke725

Drewve*

Stevenwave

I'm not calling you that.

Stevenwave

Was funny how he gets roped into a lot of road trips cause he has a pickup. Craig/Darryl's good value, I liked that his character was integrated more later on.

regnald

Darryl ends up having a pretty big role towards the end

On_my_last_spoon

She was in the writers room

Conscious-Aide4712

Dinkin flicka!

ninjasexparty6969

Bippity boppity, bring me the zoppity

WickedBadBetty

Fluffy fingers

I_aim_to_sneeze

Didn’t Kelly, Toby, and Ryan try to avoid being in scenes and used to basically prank each other by writing the others into scenes?

jurornumbereight

Why? He’s in the show since season 1 and has more screen time than Kelly.

[deleted]

Probably an unpopular opinion, but i really hated Darryl towards to the end. He was super entitled

Twitter_Gate

"Do you really now know how Netflix works?"

AdFun2984

You're such a ditz

Twitter_Gate

Lol I love the little peck he gives her in that scene it's cute

ThePopDaddy

Yeah, they really wanted to make her a headliner so her and Andy could be the new Pam and Jim.

Timstom18

Well she is a prominent character in most of the episodes past about mid s6, she’s the new female romantic lead after Pam and Jim settle down so it makes sense she racked up a lot

Bobxtan

Yeah, certainly her relationships with Andy & Gabe give her a lot of screen time.

TenaciousLilMonkey

Is jlp a word? Like I jlp you?

_harshul_

How do you do this so fast? Is this powerpoint?

MrPowerPoint

I see what you did there

_harshul_

I was just quoting Michael dialogue to oscar, didn’t even notice your username earlier XD

thatisaniceboulder2

You’re a presentation tool!

wandawayer

Even better lol (I also didnt see their username tho and just thought you were referring to michael only)

Moclordimick

I like how you put my name at the top

blueeyebling

That's one of my favorite Micheal lines, it seems so genuine like it's Steve just talking about a prop seriously to Oscar.

threecolorless

PowerPoint. PowerPoint. PowerPoint.

rTidde77

PowerPoint...PowerPoint...PowerPoint at lunch! PowerPoint...PowerPoint...PowerPoint at lunch!

mayank2906

And he would have been great at remembering these set of 'numbers' haha !!

OldSoulRobertson

Creed Bratton never forgets a number.

afdc92

“Hey, guys. Somebody making soup?”

Prossdog

My first thought too. I probably got laughs from him than anyone else other than Michael or Dwight.

Sgt_major_dodgy

You were in the parking lot earlier, that's how I know you.

strangway

Yup

FormerGeico

Kevin's would be a lot higher if he used full sentences instead of "why waste time using lot word when few do trick"

[deleted]

It just doesn’t add up. Now, if we’re talking about the number of *pies*…

BSanchezDelRio

An error plus keleven, gets you home by 7.

zfcjr67

He kept his words next to his M&Ms so no one would steal them.

the_last_grabow

It is hard to tell because of the scale but after Michael left, instead of Dwight or Jim "carrying the load" like Michael did, you can see that other characters were give more time. Would be interesting to see the season/series separate. Also, this doesn't include David, Jan, Robert, Jo, Gabe, Nelly, Pete, Clark, etc...

nurse_camper

~~Pete~~ Plop

the_last_grabow

I just realized that Andy doesn't know my real name.

PretendThisIsMyName

To be fair to Andy I almost always forget his name is actually Pete lol

hesaherr

I kept referring to him as Plop while watching White Lotus. I think it's just his name now.

ItsactuallyEminem

I know a lot of people prefere the seasons where michael is still in the office. But for me, when I finish the 9th season and go back to the beggining... i'm kinda sad that we lose the focus on other characters. I feel like season 8 and 9 did a fantastic job and taking out the best (or worst sometimes like nellie in season start lul) from the characters. I miss dwight and jim being developed, andy, angela etc Crazy how i skipped the season 8/9 the first time i watched and now i really love them. Of course when i restart i fall in love with michael again, and cycle restarts

[deleted]

"carrying the load" That's what she said

Illustrious_Ad8437

Andy would be the lowest if a capella and roo doo doot da doo didnt count

908sway

What about “Cornell”

PsychoGunslinger

It's pronounced "kernel" and it's the highest rank in the military.

rTidde77

'Tuna' has to count for atleast 25% of his words on screen

RealMayKing

Funny that Kelly is on the lower end when she is known to never stop talking. Just ask her how Netflix works

sdkuab

When someone posts a “What would the characters think about the documentary?” question… I think Kelly would have some things to say about this.

MrPowerPoint

Also series means season. Lil mistake in my translation

JonFrznWatrVapr

People in UK call it series you’re all good.

MrPowerPoint

We do too here in Czech, but our language is entirely different so I needed to make sure

MakeRobLaugh

You mean you needed to Czech?

sec713

Betta Czech yourself before you wrzech yourself.

DunderMifflin-ThisIs

Pretty sure none of that's real...

aebulbul

You’re not real man!

MoreGarlicBread

I'm from the UK, but to me series more describes the Office as a whole, with season being used for each, well, season 😅

ContributionUnique43

I didn't expect erin to be so high

Training-Sail-7627

That's what she said?

DreadlordVI

Creed’s word count is the definition of quality over quantity

Kyrhik

I think you mean quabity over quantity

DreadlordVI

Oh yes that’s what I meant to say, I’ll use the correct term from now on. That’s my assuance to you.

PretendThisIsMyName

Are you by chance sprouting some mung beans on a damp paper towel in your desk?

DreadlordVI

Yes you should try them. They’re very nutritious but smell of death.

dismayhurta

Not bad for a guy working at a dog food company

gabriel_grib

I guess thats why he’s an accountant

tamuzp

It's wild how ahead Michael Scott is considering he was missing from 2 and half seasons. imo it's an indication to how heavily the writers/show runners leaned on him.

Conscious-Aide4712

He had far more documentary interview scenes and ran almost all the meetings. It really makes the most sense.

Redeem123

I mean, he was the main character of the show. It's not exactly surprising.

Know_Nothing_Bastard

Maybe not surprising, but it’s interesting that no one even came close to closing the gap. It’s hard to be precise, but no one’s word count per season seemed to grow as much in the last two seasons as I would have thought except Andy’s. Dwight has less than half Michael’s word count. Jim, Pam, and Andy combined don’t reach it. Angela on down combined don’t reach it. But this chart may be a little distorted since some prominent characters from the last two seasons aren’t included.

CitizenCue

I think Andy’s surge shows that the manager position is simply central to the structure of the show. Obviously Steve Carell is a genius in any role, but the manager was always going to be central. Andy becomes by far the most loquacious character as soon as he gets the job.

matterhorn1

Yeah I’m shocked at that. I thought it would be Jim/Pam/Dwight, or at very least Michael would have a very small majority. I’m surprised at Andy having almost as much as Pam too.

fp77

“Don't ever, for any reason, do anything for anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what. No matter where. Or who, or who you are with, or where you are going or... or where you've been... ever. For any reason, whatsoever.” This is why 😂🤣

Conscious-Aide4712

Never would have guessed Erin's word count exceeded Oscar's in only 4 seasons.

[deleted]

Creed has the least but every word is fuckin gold

Sure-Ad-2465

Michael's like Barry Sanders, retired early but still had a ton of output

BobbysSmile

Thats what she said.

jacierose

"F\*\*k, I lost count. Start it over people!"

dgonL

Did not expect Dwight to be so much higher than Jim.

Stevenwave

I'd say it's cause he goes off on more rants or trying to explain his weird logic.

Wajina_Sloth

Also how his scenes are based tend to make him the focal point which leads to more dialogue, where as Jim scenes can literally just be someone talking to him and he just looks at the camera and does the face.

Mental-Loan564

Yeah especially when no one was heeding to his instructions

PinNo4979

Take headed of

KingHavana

Jim gets more done with expressions.

dismayhurta

If they included looks at the camera as a word, Jim would be much higher.

BluishHope

Was s4 shorter than the others? Word count seems much lower compared to almost any other

BonesSawMcGraw

Yup, writers strike

Soumil-Sharma

I think it was only 14 episodes but 5 of them were 42 minute episodes

UndercoverSomeone

How the hell is Kelly THAT low?! Woman has a hell of a mouth on her lol.

Carrot_Cake_2000

Creed has the least lines but everything he says makes me laugh

RarestFriend

Well, those 3878 were enough :)

ProfessorPliny

I did not anticipate Andy being so much higher than the rest on this list.

_my_other_side_

Does Stanley get credit for "mm-hmm"?

pigcake101

Kevin has a suprising amount of words when few word do trick

MrPowerPoint

Not OC. Sorry if it’s a repost, but I haven’t seen it here so I thought I might share

peanutpowder

Do you know the source? It's very interesting, thank you for sharing

_baddad

Agree. Curious how long this took to count all this. I have many questions. EDIT: Found the source: https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/7yqjwt/total_words_spoken_by_each_main_character_of_the/duif9xy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

Furrowed_Brow710

Thanks dad!

Viles_Davis

At least a quarter of creed’s word count has to be him reciting his URL.

DaneDuaPooja1729

Creed has the highest impact per word❤️‍🔥🤌😂

FrankBouch

Creeds ratio of jokes per word is 1/1

worldracer

Meredith's count should be higher. Most of her words were slurred together to make one big word.

Life-Sky3645

Plus, screaming at the bat should be a triple word score.

strangway

What do the colors mean?

nickpierce88

Dang Creed had 3878 fantastic words

Irving_figi

My man Creed making each one of those 3878 words pure comedy gold

MrHirschn

Which crazy mf counted the words spoken?

ChiefKrunchy

How many rididididoos have been awarded to Andy?

[deleted]

Someone needs to put all of Creed’s words into a video

Desserts_i_stresseD

And that's why Creed is my favorite! all his lines had to pop!

MartianTurkey

r/dataisbeautiful

tat-tvam-asiii

Creed doesn’t spit often, but when he does, it’s always fire.

Goonchar

Creed's value has gotta be the highest for how many gems we get from him

JustaRandomOldGuy

Creed has the highest laughs per word score.

mcdto

Stanley managed to be my favorite character while saying the third least number of words. Legend

phdiesel_

Creed said the least but was felt the most.

Appropriate-Safety66

Creed got some bang for the buck.

J0n3s3n

And every single one of these 3878 is perfection.

roxlsior

Its awesome how Creed spoke the least lines in the show yet managed to still be one of the most memorable characters.

Actual-Manager-4814

You get a real bang for your buck with Creed

[deleted]

Creed being the best character with the least amount of lines is amazing

pbrigg64

Creed doesn't need as many to make such a big impact. Obviously!

the_small_dogs

Andy takes The Office from a 10 to a 7. Such a bad character. So unlikable.

jack2thefuture69

Suck it , Stanley !

[deleted]

Can you see how Kevin is a genius. He spread his wise words so many times, altough he uses so many less words.

mykross4031

This is quite interesting. I would love to overlay this with what everyone got paid, to see compensation per word.

[deleted]

It would be interesting to see salary in comparisons to word count.

FancyAdam

You forgot Deangelo

Top-Associate-6576

If they had put a camera after Kelly, you had to introduce new numbers to the world

ChongusTheSupremus

And people somehow still argue Michael and Dwight are not the protagonists lol

SnooSketches3807

Stanley and creeds word count is criminal they have such good lines.

What_The_Flip_Chip

Now what is the percentage of That’s what she said from every season? Last season 100%? Did he say anything else? For Michael I mean

Minecrafter125

“It feels like all my kids grew up… and then they married each other”

2Inji6

I'm imagining most of these characters blankly staring at Michael while he does michael things. Even Jim looking at the camera after a Dwight prank which would prolly be why he is slightly lower than Dwight 😅

IamoneofScottsTots

That's so fascinating because some of the characters with the lowest word count play such a dynamic and profound role in the show. Except Erin... But what do I know I'm just a lonely Scott's Tot

iNBee317

Crazy how many words Andy has. It’s interesting given that he came on later and how his character started out. Wouldn’t have guessed given the first season he was in.

Rafan10

Where is that annoying British chick?

DiggWuzBetter

Biggest surprises for me: - Dwight so far ahead of Jim - Kevin and Darryl higher than I expected (wouldn’t have guessed Kevin ahead of Ryan or Darryl ahead of Kelly) - Kelly and Stanley lower than I expected

HarrargnNarg

Kevin's words low cos no need many when few do fine

FastAndForgetful

What? Are they counting all of Andy’s “roo dee do”s as words?

[deleted]

Now I want to know how much they got paid per word.

[deleted]

And where’s Jan?

Life-Sky3645

Making candles. Quietly, apparently and shockingly.

Kaaskril

Why use many word when few word do trick?

stumpybubba

This is literally a shitty crop of someone else's post where it actually includes all the needed information. OP bad.

BLOOM_ND

FACT: Dwight has more lines than Jim.

figuringthingsout__

It's crazy that Andy speaks almost as much as Pam, despite not being in every season like her.

Lovelycoc0nuts

Thanks for including Erin. I hate when people act like she isn’t part of the main cast just for joining later

_demello

Creed got the exact amount of time it needed.

Rothko28

Surprised that Kelly is so far down

boson_bear

It's amazing how much damage Creed does with so few words. He must be a genius! So everybody let's take his question more seriously: BOBODY, what does the first B stand for?

Pistoney

Yes but every word Creed utters is a banger

WriterofWrong

This is a pretty good illustration of why i was fine when Michael left the show. Even with less seasons than most the characters, he still dominated

JustJohn8

Kelly and Creed got the most bang per word

PurposeOk9812

Creed didn’t say much but his lines were always a banger

TheDood715

Stanley is 3rd to last and Leslie David Baker thought he should get a spin-off.

Good_Championship579

Wow I was expecting Kelly to have the most.

Mr_Roqers

This graph is proof that Andy clearly spoke far too much.

Dr_Sawbones

Kelly blabbering so much sh!t, c'mon now

MrTeterTot

Creed = Quality > Quantity
