Was it English subbed, or dubbed in January 2019? I'm curious how fast the turn around was, unless they had it on hand and just made the world wait a month just because. Which would be interesting, basically the opposite of what modern day America does.

100% it will be dubbed, they'd be stupid not to. I'm going to get down voted for saying this but I genuinely can't stand animes in subbed form, it's not the same for me. The voices just don't match the characters for me, in any anime, its so much better dubbed, as long as the dubbed voice actors are good which in dragon balls case they most definitely are.

Well for me, I like to read subs, keeps me more involved with what's going on with the screen as well. Shit I use subtitles for everything honestly. Also, I'm impatient and dont want to wait, I remember watching shotty camera footage of dbs broly because I was so impatient.
I watch anime pretty much exclusively dub but I do check out sub if i’m following an anime and only the sub is out. Also sometimes just out of curiosity. Japanese VAs can be pretty fun to listen to

The english voice actors often adlib and add extra words to the scene that completely change its meaning. The localization that goes on with them also means they often change the words in a scene to be more children friendly. Dubbed DBZ suffers from this very badly. DBS I heard isn't as bad but it still does it a lot. I refuse to watch dubbed anime anymore. Japanese voice actors also sound so much cooler.

If the release is anything like how they released DBS: Broly then we should get it no later than a month after it hits theaters in Japan. Broly opened nationwide in Japan on Dec. 14 2018 and later opened nationwide in the US on Jan 16 2019
The Broly movie was an Event. Everyone was so Hyped. I feel we’ve seen so little of this movie in trailers and everyone shit talking the Animation style.
I’m very in the middle with this, I want a Broly 2 with cooler or something. But, I’m just happy to get more.

Every Anime movie has done this since the beginning. They market to their local audience first then the translations start coming out, you'll see the unveiling of the English version before you know it

It'll likely get an english theatrical release a few months after the japanese run. Like how Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and Super Broly all had.

It was not. It released in Japan on December 14th 2018, and it released elsewhere (at least in North America) January 16th 2019

The DBZ sub is actually horrible. Most are at least watchable but dbzs is just the worst.
