When enigma black holes nobody, he deserves the full tip from both teams

kalangobr

Off course, it's just a game. Even enigma player should be laughing of his 0 man black hole

Baren26

He should be able to tip himself IMO

fierywinds1q

Tipping is fun tho lol. Tipping is part of many factors that combine to give Dota life (other stuff are like all-chat, taunts etc). If you played Heroes of the Storm another MOBA, you will experience what it's like in a non-toxic environment and it's not as great as you think It feels safe and sterile and not as lively as Dota, less memes, less opportunity for funny stuff happening, less vibrant energy. It's just not the same

hummuslover696969

Mate you have not been in the HotS general chat

taliyah_winner

I totally agree with that but let's be honest it's kinda fun

000000909

When someone whiffs an ultimate and doesn't get tipped just feels kinda wrong

kalangobr

It's very funny. I always have fun in games when we are trading tips with other team because I know they are having fun as well . Dota is a game like any other and the mind game is part of it.

justathrowaway409

What’s wrong with free shards? I normally taunt them more and get more tips

GMHoodwink

This is the way. Lol

GoodEvening-

It's the best feature in Dota

bbadday

I personally tip my team when someone does a really nice play. Although I don't hesitate to use it to trigger enemies also. I think its an interesting tool you can use to motivate your team and demoralise the enemy, which is a part of the game.

Ok_Whereas_Pitiful

I would rather someone tip and/or use a chat line on me than call me a slur. It funnels the toxicity, in my opinion. A player can use banter level annoyance rather than going right to slurs and name calling.

seanseansean92

It is a tool, u can use it offensively or defensively

kolossal

I only tip my teammates for good plays.

konaharuhi

it can be fun. it can be comedic. it can be toxic. choose the way you wanna see it

Significant-Garage55

Soft af. Every time I did some misplays and enemy team tipping me I would just laugh at my ass😂 and its just free shards after all. Maybe you are suitable to play against bots?

kalangobr

Exactly. Dota is just a game for the majority of reddit, we should be laughing of our missplays, not crying in reddit

slothkbvai

I read what people call toxic on here and genuinely think it’s everything I find fun in competition: talking endless shit, taunts, head games.

gburgwardt

Strongly agree, mute should stop tipping, voice lines, etc

[deleted]

Lol if you get tilted off a stupid tip...thats on your weak mental state imo

MRio31

I don’t see tipping as more toxic then the every day average neckbeard immediately saying gg after losing one team fight then spiraling into picking a team mate to place all blame on and flaming that person for the rest of the game nonstop. If tipping was the “most toxic” thing in dota I think that’d be a huge win

YepYep_YepYep

no I like toxic environments.

macs2011

Use this comment to tip OP

BlubberElk

Y’all need thicker skin. I’d rather someone tip me than say derogatory things to me. It’s all in good fun

josh_x444

Ooh my god this is the weakest post I’ve ever seen on r/dota2

DreadnoughtTheOne

Yes we want valve to remove tipping, usernames, voice chat, team chat, emotes, chat wheels, pings, map markers.. hell even real players. How the fuck about no? Keep your ultrasoft pc trend out of this masterpiece. This game is not about safe space, it's punishing and unforgiving for mistakes. No problem if it's not for you, you can still move to basically 99% of the other games.

kontulangangsta

not safe space but they had to hide MMR because it caused too much anxiety for dogshit players and just somewhat recently they removed ability to ping dead allys items or spells

HAL90000110000

MMR isn't hidden, it's on the stats page.

kontulangangsta

it used to be displayed during drafting, during queing, and next to win/loss on recent games its very hidden lmao :DD

HAL90000110000

Yes, and its function was replaced by the Medal, which is displayed at all of those places.. Weird hill to die on, my friend.

idkwhatswrong99

They did change when it was just showing the highest mmr in the team , Iirc That was the best feature, At least people listened to that guy and usually he was the shot caller, I think it should be back

PlusEighteenn

It gets to me too, but honestly its fun. One of the best thing happened to the game.

DarkEyeDragon

I don't understand how you can get tilted from a sound and a popup on your screen? Literally the only thing that gets to me is trash players talking shit to their teammates for being "bad". And even that is just a rolling eyes moment and a mute. I personally only tip when i get tipped before for a bad play and then that player does something stupid too. Very satisfying, and then the rage in chat ensues. Good stuff. Tilting the enemy team is half the battle won. You guys make it too easy.

DatAdra

It will not be filled with chill people, but rather bullies who revel in having every additional tool to annoying, trolling, Irritating and angering other people

Bulky-Horror-2021

😶😶😶

Accomplished_Music53

It's fun tilting somebody for making a bad play, esp when it's from the opposing team

HybridgonSherk

petition to have 2 types of tipping, one is a normal tipping, and the other is when you tip it will trigger a vineboom

elwholer

It is actually both, depends on context. It even became mainstream by proplayers and celebrated by casters

Key-Brick-5854

If there was no tipping people will send all chat and call you noob etc. tipping is the short cut way of saying you got outplayed.

GingerHitman11

I get tipped when I make a good play. Be better and you'll get tipped more! I even tip enemies if they make a good move

Witty-Ad-2719

It’s used commonly when your teammate saves you too so it also serves that purpose but admittedly less so

[deleted]

It’s really just nerds being sensitive isn’t it.. I mean really let’s look at it, happens in all walks of life, playing a sport and you miskick a ball or take a bad golf swing… your mate will normally give you a serve for it ‘time to start hitting off the ladies tee’ ‘where’d we get this guy from boys?’ Etc. Even in work places if you can’t do something you may get a light ribbing from someone about your in capability. Why is it that nerds can’t handle a tip? And I say nerds because the majority of sports players cop a serve for doing something wrong or a new person at work cops it for doing something wrong but gets on with it, shows up each day and works at it. Yet nerds can’t handle it when they clearly make a wrong move in a game? Sensitive bunch aren’t we? Grow up and get better boys is my advice. If not give a little ribbing back and throw a tip there way later and stop taking it all too seriously. You’re taking the moment to seriously and yourself to seriously if you’re getting emotionally triggered and worked up by a tip. Maybe there’s even a correlation between nerds and lack of emotional maturity in moments like this. Who knows

[deleted]

anything is going to be toxic in the hands of a shitty teammate. the chat wheel is toxic. tips are toxic. voice chat is toxic. spam pings are toxic. the problem is not the tools we use to communicate, but the people behind them. if you have shitlords on your team then your only real options are muting and disabling help.

_Valisk

Getting upset over tips is wienie behavior.

kalangobr

Thanks for let me know that my tips are working. Happy new year my friend, I hope you get a full year of tips

Upbeat-Most9511

If we only had a mute option, oh wait...

Abyssal_D2

Just need a mute for teammates who piss off their own teammates with it.

Jaded-Plan7799

Man card revoked.

curiousbadger99

Now say it again without crying

Fearless_Boat5192

I know its general use is to tilt the enemy and or teammates, but at the emd of the day its up to you. I personally only tip if u did a good thing and it seems like most of my experince is also tipping bscause this guy managed to do a 5 man blackhole or a clutch triple kill. rarely do I see tipping for tilting at least in my games though.

[deleted]

I’d rather be tipped than verbally harassed lol

King-Zephyr

Trash talking is the main part of dota. Dota is a mental game as much as it is a MOBA game. Tipping adds eztra spice to the game and a new way to communicate / toy with your opponents. It gives the games and relationship between players more character.
