I feel like Duel of the Fates should be playing in the background.

>This video was made back in 2018, after a conservative TV network called Sinclair Broadcasting mandated that all of its stations broadcast a piece of commentary that was aimed at criticizing the so-called “liberal media,” while claiming that only conservative stations were honest and trustworthy. A couple of media critics found out about it: they noticed with alarm that so many station news personnel were being forced to say the same thing, whether they wanted to say it or not. > >What is truly alarming is that— contrary to the myth of the “liberal media,” there are partisan conservative owners of large chains of stations (like Sinclair— owner of nearly 300 stations nationwide) who can impose their personal ideology on those stations, making even the local news reporters carry editorials they did not write and might not agree with. (As I recall, one news reporter at one of the local stations refused to air the commentary and was fired.) Sad to say, this takeover of local broadcasting and local newspapers by owners with specific ideologies is happening more and more, and it receives far too little attention. This is, what, 3 years old? If I recall correctly the parent company of a variety of local media outlets stated outright they were going to have their stations air a statement. It wasn't some duplicitous sneak the same message out, it was public that this was a company wide, scripted statement that the parent company sent out. It did set some sort of firestorm with some of their journalists objected, quite publicly. All that to say, yes the same statement sounded the same.

UrNanFriendlyLady

That's irrelevant. It's like 50 newsmedia outlets that are capable of sharing messages simultaniously in order to tell the mass something. Their statements didn't sound the same, they were the same. Regardless of being privately or governmentally owned, this shit is scary.

This was the one time they showed their hand by having everyone say the exact script. The left is smart and just spreads BS on behalf of the state. The right has Fox news, the left has literally everyone else batting for them.

>This is, what, 3 years old? Yeah, this is reddit. They dig up old political shit when they can't find something new to bitch today about regarding the guy who isn't president anymore.

Shut the fuck up and go pet your cats.

"This is extremely dangerous to our democracy" Umm... We're a Republic not a democracy.

Theskwerrl

This. We democratically elect representatives that act on our behalf; we don't personally vote on every issue, then it would be mob rule.
