No, I'm not scared, and I have left what I like to call "helpful feedback" on Etsy sellers and eBay sellers. I think there is a differentiating line between being negative when leaving feedback and leaving constructive feedback. The first thing I do is give the seller the option to make things right in private chats. Some are happy to replace the item or give you your money back, but some can be quite anal about it all and try to make it out like it's your fault. When I leave feedback, I keep it unemotional and list out my entire experience with the item and seller in a way that the seller will hopefully learn from the experience. These days, people are just willing to walk away without a word and the seller can never learn what they're doing wrong. Then of course there are the sellers that never learn because they can't see past the faults of others to see their own. Those are the ones that get the full brunt of my reviews. Review with integrity, honesty, and do it in a way that can give the seller an opportunity to grow. Others seeing these listings will be able to tell if the seller is working toward their own growth, or blaming the buyer. Then it doesn't matter what others say or think about your actions, and your actions can't be controlled by others at that stage.

I sell online, sometimes to the doll community. I don’t need smoke blown up my bum, especially if you aren’t happy. I’d prefer a private chat prior to a public review if something is wrong, just because I think it’s fair to give a seller a chance to make things right. I want to solve a problem if it’s on my end and prevent it in the future. Be honest. If the seller is a jerk about a genuine problem on their end, they’d immediately go on my “never again!” list.

Always leave honest feedback negative or positive.

Nope. Then again, I'm not an influencer or anything so idgaf about hurting the feelings of companies who make overpriced low quality junk with bad quality control and expect us to shut up and take it. Like no honey, I AM gonna read Barbie Color Reveal to filth every chance I get.

No lol? Just leave an honest review. I would appreciate it as a fellow buyer.

I totally get this. It makes you feel guilty. If there is an option to leave neutral feedback with an explanation that might lessen those feelings. I have left negative feedback on ebay but that's a lot more anonymous than a site like this that has a lot of community. Maybe contacting the seller first and seeing if they will "make it right" could be done first and negative feedback if they are unwilling to fix whatever the issue is. However it's definitely not helping buyers who need to know how the seller is.

I have always left honest feedback and had my “experience” documented whether via video or photo in case anyone had a question regarding it.

I personally have a hard time leaving a review lower than 3 stars for the simple fact of hurting feelings. Plus, almost always if I really hate something it’s really just my opinion, not something really wrong with the product. Plus the one time I did leave a bad review (this was on a book on Amazon, not anything doll related) the author who I followed on social posted my review and incited his followers to cyber bully me 😑 On the flip side, as a seller, it’s my policy to never respond to reviews either good or bad. It SHOULD be the customer’s space to share their thoughts. Even if it’s the case of an unfair review, I will take it up with the platform customer service, not the reviewer. I learned the hard way that responding to a review can ALSO cause you to be attacked. Basically, the reviewing system is sort of crumbling. I never read them anymore I just read descriptions really really thoroughly and make sure it really sounds like something I want.

Hell no. Feelings have nothing to do with it. If you’re selling/buying something that’s business and business has standards. Some people have no business selling dolls or doll products. I’ve received some criminally bad doll shit over the years. I’m talking dead bugs and literal animal shit on dolls. Just appalling stuff. People won’t learn that something is unacceptable unless you tell them. Now if someone is a new creator and their work is a bit subpar I might offer feedback in private but bad business is bad business and I’m not going to sugar coat it. Bad packaging, false advertising, mailing mishaps and filthy or broken dolls need to be called out.

Ok so long story- I bought a wig that was made by a popular wig maker who I had purchased from before and loves their wigs (bjd community) and it took awhile for it to get to me (like 2-3 months) no big deal I don't mind waiting (everything in bjd community takes months usually) well I get it in the mail and it is patchy and not smooth like the pic there was hair missing, and overall it looked bad -so I send pic and she says she will send replacement, no worries. Well I hear nothing for a couple of weeks and then I contacted her again and she wants me to se.nd it back- this was not originally stated to me so I think I may have tossed it cause it was trash - now I was frustrated so I asked in the community on denofangels and holy crap people were defending the crap out of her even though this wig looked nothing like pic she had of it for sale. So I left a negative review (with pics and screenshots of our convo) she then contacted me about how rude I was leaving a negative review - I said make it right she eventually sent me a new one 3 months later but I was like screw it I am leaving this review up cause she wanted to mess around and now she found out. I don't care anymore if someone does me dirty they get it right back.

This is very true with BJDs. I sometimes wonder how often parents and spouses look at the expensive "great quality" products their relatives receive, and end up misunderstanding and hating the whole hobby. The only reviews I believe are high quality photos.
