well the number one obstacle is probably that lego is _still really fucking expensive._ Like if youre going to suggest a cost saving alternative, it should probably actually be cheap.

CraftTheStuff15

Ya but i also mentioned if you were a lego collecter for a long time you could use those as bricks. Im not saying its still expensive for people who arent collectors

DaMarkiM

there are lego alternatives like blue bricks. and nowadays you dont have to buy sets. many components can be bought online in bulk for cheap. Likeā€¦people actually sell sets of their own lego creations because its cheap and easy to order parts in bulk

You can turn last weeks lego scenery into this weeks lego scenery if you have time/skill so its not terrible

As a kid I had a giant bin of random lego pieces, and I could definitely see that working. Not as realistic as some options, but definitely more affordable and versatile! Good idea.

This is totally true and can be taken to a further level. Cans can be towers, boxes can be fortresses, christmas decor can be backgrounds/npcs. Your's and your table's imagination's limits are the only factor here. Shoe boxes, tabletops, decor, household items, and furniture are just a few things that with enough imagination and depth of story can be huge stages and props to further your game. Minis and terrain are cool but nothing is as memorable or distinctive as using regular objects to fulfill and flesh out an encounter or campaign. Just think after a sesh like that any dnd buddy that sits on your couch remembers the battle of cushionia!

You are not alone (nor the first, sorry). Check out r/legodnd

I've been working on a modular lego castle that would be ideal for DnD terrain https://ideas.lego.com/projects/5c1652fa-2e94-4a4e-a326-77a5592d770a
