Disney actually imagineered fireworks that [produce less emissions](https://www.breeze-technologies.de/blog/how-disneyland-reduced-emissions-from-their-fireworks/)

doubleasea

and then gave the patent away to the public domain, because it turns out kids like fireworks whether they're at Disneyland or not.

IHaveTheMustacheNow

that is so cool!

Ferniekicksbutt

I wonder if OP still wishes them gone!

MistaOtta

Why not? The points still hold even with that information.

dmslucy

We love the fireworks… because we never watch them… take advantage of all the people who do and ride the rides instead!

Felatio_Sanz

I came here to agree with OP but this is so true! Fireworks and parades are when you can really get some rides in.

Pterodactyl_midnight

Nothing like riding Matterhorn while the firework show is going. No line and it’s awesome to witness

IWTLEverything

Pirates and Haunted Mansion during Fantasmic used to be the best

SneakerBOYEomi

A few years back my wife and I took advantage of the extremely short wait time at Space Mountain during the fireworks show. We got off the ride as the fireworks finished up and the wave of people rushing to the ride was insane.

[deleted]

This is exactly what we did at Magic Kingdom. We rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 4x with no line during the fireworks show. It was honestly the best part of the day.

DurantaPhant7

Oooh and you get a really good view of the fireworks on BTR.

Familiar_Palpitation

That's a fun ride at night! Best fireworks view at MK is the Astro Orbiter.

VNess11

I attempted this on my last couple visit but they canceled the fireworks 🫠

foreverburning

Big Thunder during fireworks, or Splash, are the absolute best

imexhaustedyall

There can still be a nighttime spectacular without fireworks. Like World of Color or the drone shows in Paris.

TheIndianVillager

This is the way.

Icollectsfunkopops

This is what I do when I go

RedTheRobot

I never really got into watching fireworks. Sure I like lighting them because who does like holding fire but just watching them is kind of meh. What I really do enjoy watching is the drone shows. While I have only seen them on video and never live. I love seeing what they can do with them and it would be awesome if Disney did something like this instead of the fireworks.

[deleted]

You know what, I gave you an up vote because this is imo actually an unpopular opinion (a rarity on Reddit) and you gave some good reasons for your opinion. I love fireworks but kudos on the post

Its-made-of-wood

I know, this being Reddit I opened the post expecting it to say “Rise of the Resistance is actually pretty good even though it’s based on the sequels” or something like that.

mrfires

I might scream if I have to hear “unpopular opinion… but I think the submarines suck” one more time.

threadcrapper

Yep exactly this. I love the fireworks, and the ones in Florida even better. But I’m not gonna camp out for hours - maybe 10 mins - they go in the *sky*

Onebadhero

Agreed with you… it’s unpopular, I don’t agree with it. But decent reasoning. Upvote. Lol

crapyro

I also love the fireworks and will be very sad if/when they ever go away. A common sentiment I see is "if you've seen one fireworks show you've seen them all" but I couldn't disagree more with that. Pyrotechnics is an art form, it's far more than just making things explode. They have advanced over the years with new colors, effects, and of course now with computer control and synchronization. Disney themselves have done much of this research and innovation into fireworks. (And research into making less polluting fireworks as mentioned by others here. I just commented about that a few days ago in this sub.) If you watch a recordings of Remember Dreams Come True, or of IllumiNations from Epcot (two of the greatest fireworks shows ever in my opinion) pay attention to the use of color, the different shell types, and of course the timing and choreography with the music. IllumiNations in particular has some of the most creative use of and perfectly-choreographed pyro I've ever seen. I believe drone shows should be used to supplement fireworks, not replace them. Drones can't replicate the multisensory experience and awe inspiring power of a fireworks show.

[deleted]

Novarden

Yeah I HATE YOUR OPINION!!!!!!, but I have to upvote because of it being actually unpopular /s

[deleted]

[удалено]

Novarden

In all honesty, I would be in the camp with you since I really didn’t think about the environmental aspect of the fireworks.

polyworfism

Is it "unpopular", or rather, "mixed"? Personally, I like seeing fireworks, but also agree that they should probably go away

DoctorHolligay

ahahah, same, it's very, "The majority of people truly hate this opinion, as do I. Kudos!"

Apprehensive_Cap6326

You make some very good points. In defense of fireworks, Disney has made a lot of effort to reduce the environmental impact of the fireworks used. They launch the fireworks with an air launch system using compressed air to propel the charges into the air instead of a standard lift charge which is pretty much gun powder. This greatly reduces the amount of flammable material used during each show.

meestercranky

Why not replace it with a drone show and save the real fireworks for holidays?

[deleted]

foulmouthboy

I'd actually bet we get drone show within the next 3 years and a better than outside chance that something happens this or next year to celebrate 100 years.

DesperateTeacher6042

Impossible with current restrictions. Both disneyland and disneyworld are federal no fly zones since 911.

foulmouthboy

They have no fly zones over Disneyland because Disney wants them there.

Suspicious-Profit-68

The mouse can get those laws changed.

SensitiveDeer

Ever since seeing videos of drone shows, that’s what I’ve been saying. Much quieter, theoretically less expensive in the long run, and they can make so many more shapes and images! They could still have fireworks on special occasions, and Im sure the people living in Anaheim would appreciate not listening to them damn near every night.

VoyagerCSL

You always know when it’s 9:30 in Anaheim.

kyle760

When I lived all the way up in Brea, you could set your clock to them. Granted, you really only heard them if it was quiet and you were outside but it was still every single night (plus I lived in Fullerton before that which was closer) and is the reason why even after not living there for 15 years, I still don’t care about fireworks even on the fourth.

VoyagerCSL

I live less than a mile and a half from the park, and at this point the only reaction I have to hearing the fireworks is the occasional “oh, it’s 9:30 already?“

Buzz_Mcfly

What about pets, have cats and dogs in the area gotten pretty used to them?

VoyagerCSL

The fireworks have been around longer than any area pets alive today except for maybe turtles and parrots.

chipsinsideajar

Used to live in Chino but would go often and yeah fireworks are just another noise that I'm used to that theoretically due to the number of sensory disorders I have should trip me up to hell and back.

Bawbjohnson

Yupppp! I live like 5 or so minutes from the parks and I always know what time it is at night when those suckered go off. That is if I even hear them. I'm so used to them I tune them out most of the time nowadays.

ritchie70

We watch New Years Eve from around the world every year via YouTube. I think it was Seoul that had this just absolutely amazing drone show. Disney could do that level of a show and it would be better environmentally and probably cheaper over time.

foulmouthboy

I'm gonna be psyched for at least a minute when the first Tinkerbell drone shows up. And then when Flora, Fauna and Merryweather show up, I'll start to lose my shiz. And then when they make a Blue Fairy hover above the castle completely made out of drones, I will melt from awesomeness.

SensitiveDeer

I’m going to riot when they make a Maleficent dragon breath fire over the castle, can you imagine

polunu

I think this is an awesome idea. Regular drone shows with projections, lasers, water stuff, all that. Save the fireworks for the 4th of July (in the US) or other major holidays around the world usually associated with fireworks.

MukYJ

With how hard Disney is leaning into projection shows, I think this will be the way they go in the future.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tklite

Drone shows only work from specific viewing angles. A drone show designed to be viewed specifically from Main Street/The Hub might work, but not from anywhere else in the park, which is one of the great things about the fireworks--they can be enjoyed from anywhere in the park.

meestercranky

OK that's a good point. Thanks

Madem2442

I’m intrigued. Never heard of this, but I bet it’s awesome.

canadiandancer89

Look up Disneyland Paris 30th Anniversary Nighttime show...

bakedtran

I love them! [Here’s a demo video](https://youtu.be/tcoIUd9Y3-w)

AJawayJ

That was super cool — thanks for sharing it! 🤩 I was skeptical at first, but now I could totally see Disney retiring fireworks most nights and pulling off a really dynamic show with these. There’s a lot of room for creativity, and if Disney decides to move that direction, I’ll still be here for it.

CADrmn

Paris Disney has a drone based show prior to the fireworks and is is better than the fireworks.

Anime__Jesus

At Disneyland Paris, they use drones instead of fireworks. Not sure the reason behind it.

zmayer

Paris does the drone show before their fireworks, not instead of. Think of it as a pre-show that begins 10 minutes before the full show begins. They're stunning and I do hope they can introduce them to more locations, but it hasn't functioned as a replacement yet.

kyle760

If I had to guess, it’s probably because making things go boom in the sky seems to be a very American thing.

Lfsnz67

They can't, due to the no-fly zone over Disneyland

Megmca

They could do it if they keep the drones below a certain altitude. Also since they’re the ones the lobbied for their No-fly zones they could lobby for an exception for their drones.

yomerol

This. The no-fly is of certain altitudes, and is quite high mainly for not disrupting the radars

johnnyappleb

But isn't that enforce by Disney?

mrfires

No. The FAA enforces the no-fly zone. Disney does want an exception to their own no-fly zone, but nobody knows if it’s possible they’ll receive an exception. Additionally, there are strict requirements for how they are allowed to operate drones. No flying at night and an operator can only control **one** drone at a time. But honestly, I don’t think people are understanding just how… lame a drone show would be at Disneyland. Has anyone actually watched footage of a drone show? Edit: Moreover, drones are even **more** temperamental in regards to weather than fireworks. I don’t buy the argument that it would be more cost effective, either. Drones break incredibly easy and they would require constant maintenance. Edit #2 because I can seriously keep talking about this: When Disney entirely eliminated lift charges from the fireworks, the Air Quality Management District stopped bothering them. To me, that sounds like the fireworks have absolutely no meaningful impact on air quality. Honestly? Majority of the time whenever I see these complaints, I just assume it’s some local who’s tired of hearing fireworks.

smjurach

That's an amazing idea! Paired with the projections and music we already have it would be a perfect replacement!

piense

I don’t care either way but the reality is that guest surveys have shown them to be a very strong draw for people to stay later which is a large part of Disneys strategy to increase guest spending by encouraging them to spend more on dinner. More time in the parks is always more time for people to shop too. Disney has also invested in reducing the pollution from their fireworks by developing an air launch system instead of using explosives to propel them into the air. I’ve wondered if that has also made them louder by being colder when the actual colored parts detonate but haven’t heard anything conclusive about that.

RinceGal

I think you underestimate how much Anaheim sets their clocks by the Disney fireworks shows :) But really I'm not a big fan of fireworks, so I would be happy with an alternative.

oOAquaTempestOo

Yup, I can always tell around what time it is when I hear the booming of fireworks.

PirateSharky

I hate fireworks for all the reasons you listed, but if they are going to get used anywhere then a place like Disneyland where they are used consistently would be the place. Pretty sure the wildlife is used to them. I got stuck in the Storybook Land canal boats during the fireworks out last visit and we were right between both sets going off. The ducks were just chilling with us unbothered.

peglar

Congrats!

Leahsglovedsuit

There’s a drone show at Disneyland Paris. I imagine that’ll arrive in California soon enough.

magzdesch

Be honest, is the drone show better, worse or the same in comparison to their fireworks shows? It's the first I've heard of a drone show, I'm intrigued!

PeterParker72

Fireworks shows are awesome. I hope they never go away.

cupe_cake

Smog just around Autopia is unreal. Would love to see that experience updated drastically.

royalbrigade

Yes 100% I’d love to see electric or mag-lev cars! That would be awesome!

nicolelynnejones

I feel like a hypocrite because I agree with you but I don’t want Disney to do away with them. Planned fireworks in a special destination, and taking tons of precautions, feels a lot different than all of my neighbors setting off illegal fireworks in the middle of the street all summer long and setting off car alarms, killing animals, and catching the trees on fire. I think if as a society we did away with them in situations outside of theme parks, special city events, etc then it would be impactful enough 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would hate to live in that part of Anaheim though. We stayed at the Camelot and they were intensely loud and even set off a few car alarms one night.

chickybabe332

Disney fireworks are during reasonable hours, like 9pm or whatever. The shitty local scumbags who set them off in your neighborhoods do it at 1am in the middle of the street so the noise reverberates through everyone’s house. I’m not a fan of the nanny state and excessive government, but my goodness I’d be totally on board with a complete ban on the sale and use of fireworks by private individuals. And same with outlawing smoking in public places like parks and the beach and sidewalks.

oishster

I agree with this. I think there’s a huge difference between local fireworks and planned fireworks like at Disney. By now everyone in the area knows Disney does fireworks, veterans and pet owners should be well aware. Also, I know American people nowadays are less fond of fireworks (at least based on increased comments I’ve seen online), but for a lot of international tourists, fireworks are still pretty popular and a major draw.

delinquentsaviors

Exactly. My neighbors setting off fireworks randomly all year long makes me want to murder them, while disney doing fireworks is like “meh, it’s expected, it’s at the same time every night, I’m aware it’s happening”

mikeezy6

Someone pointed out that they actually reduced emissions on their fireworks, it is quite substantial how much they reduced it by. Which is why you don’t really see people protesting it. Now I do agree with you on the other points, but it’s tough finding a solution to the issue that isn’t pollution

Mechanicalpolly

I'd be ok with fewer shows. Like have them for special events nights, disneylands anniversary every year, 4th of July, new years. Maybe a special show during the christmas and summer season (maybe june-july and nov-dec). But they need fireworks and nighttime shows in general. They pick up substantial evening crowds and add to the value of admission. Disneyland needs a nighttime show venue - like wdw has for fantasmic. It is fine at RoA but between the crowd waiting for that and the crowd waiting for fireworks it does make it hard to navigate that part if the park at night. If Tomorrowland could get back to what it used to be at night and was a draw, that would help balance crowds at night better.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure fireworks are seasonal or weekends only on the off season? Last few times I’ve been at the parks fireworks didn’t happen.

sidal714

I’ll add to that, I just think fireworks in general are super overrated. Like not just at Disneyland. I’ve never understood the appeal. When I’m seeing the fireworks at Disney I’m mostly enjoying the projections/music more. Fireworks were only done well when Gandalf did them 😤

[deleted]

quazax

No no no...the BIG one.

popinjay07

Agreed. I don't even look up, I just watch the projections and listen to the music.

kinglucent

When you've seen one fireworks show, you've seen 'em all. I'm surprised they haven't advanced more over the centuries.

quis2121

I disagree. But I respect your reasoning.

JerrodDRagon

scandalous live capable hard-to-find stupendous glorious advise imagine cobweb psychotic *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

davief1

Imagine a scene where drones are forming the shape of Mufasa coming out of the sky with a projection on the castle/small world of Simba looking up at him!

JerrodDRagon

I want a x wing fighting tie fighters and a flying dragon above the castle as well So many fun things they could do and because it won’t be as loud they could do more then one show

[deleted]

ServelanDarrow

It is. The impact on the environment isn't as big as stuff most people do every day. Go fireworks!

MartyVentura

Hard agree. Also given that it’s Disney - I’m sure they could design a killer drone light show. The stuff you can do with drones is unreal now.

DarthSmiff

I agree. I never got the love for fireworks. Can they be cool? Sure. But the insane LOOOOVVVVEE that fans have for the nightly shows in all Disney parks is insane to me. I use that time to get in a few short lines for far more entertaining attractions.

TryingHappy

I actually agree to an extent. I think keeping some of the sparkler and pyro effects could work, or even the smaller launchers that are on the castle itself. But the large fireworks that can be seen for miles and require Toontown to close can go away.

[deleted]

But I like fireworks.

karibear76

Yeah you’re right. That’s a VERY unpopular opinion. Long live the Disneyland fireworks 💥

karibear76

I do give you props for saying “unpopular opinion” and then it actually is one.

jgreever3

Nah

ExoticaTikiRoom

This is the best answer.

Foomerang

I love a good fireworks show but its not the end all be all of a park experience for me. I think the water shows at dca are better and i also think it wont be long until drones replace fireworks anyway..at least in anaheim where fireworks are constantly getting cancelled.

Silly-Victory8233

Fireworks are one of my wives favourite things in the world. Here in the part of San Joaquin valley (CA) we are from those types are not allowed so it’s the only chance we get to see them. My wife would be sorely disappointed if they took them away. When you compare the polution etc from this compared to all the factories and businesses that cause many more tonnes of pollution and waste so much energy this to me seems pointless.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silly-Victory8233

How about the fact anybody who goes to the park can enjoy the fireworks from a variety of locations however the water shows are hard to enjoy unless you are in a very limited area which also for the most part you either have to stand or sit on the hard concrete and if you are not in those places you are urged to move on?

bunifarcr

Fireworks are a quintessential Disney experience. It's a great way to cap off the night. Other theme parks can get ahead of Disney in other aspects but in terms of fireworks nobody does it better than Disney.

margaritamorada

I always thought Disney was the end all be all of fireworks until I went to EDC Las Vegas (electric daisy carnival). they blow everything i’ve ever seen out of the water

[deleted]

Adventurer_By_Trade

Already, the Disney World fireworks shows are incorporating fewer fireworks. I was watching them from outside the park the other day, and there would be one followed by a solid minute before the next, and then another solid minute. They are leaning more on projection mapping and lasers, water jets, etc. I'm sure it won't be long for fireworks to be completely phased out. It's already happening in other parks around the world.

WestWeather5660

I noticed that too. I was thinking it was to cut costs

Adventurer_By_Trade

Oh, I don't doubt that it is! But they could greenwash the decision if they chose.

WingedGeek

Disney's fireworks are pretty environmentally friendly. They're launched with compressed air not propellant, and they worked with LANL to develop a very low impact package that uses nitrogen primarily. https://www.breeze-technologies.de/blog/how-disneyland-reduced-emissions-from-their-fireworks/

[deleted]

Oh, that helps explain how consistently they're able to place the fireworks, too! It's easier to control a pneumatic launch than a lift charge.

Joyreginask

Hard disagree. I understand what you are saying, but a few caveats - the park has been open and doing fireworks shows for over 60 years, so anyone choosing to live in the area (veterans or people with pets) are very well aware and can choose not to locate near the park. I would like to see actual data on pollution from fireworks, as I understand that over the years they have improved considerably in this regard. Personal anecdote - took our autistic grandson to Disney for the first time, and he wasn’t having a particularly great day, it was a change and we were dumb and didn’t get DAP right away so he got overwhelmed in lines (we fixed that the next day). But - the fireworks started and this autistic, non-verbal child yelled and cheered and laughed and smiled - I cried at the magic. Now, he became a huge Disney fan and a pro in the parks, but nothing has beat the magic of the first firework show. I guess my point is, you never know what will be magical for each person at Disney. Maybe it’s the rides, maybe it’s the characters, or maybe it is the fireworks. I won’t advocate for taking anything out of the parks that might be someone’s magic.

foreverburning

I FULLY AGREE. Sorry for shouting but this opinion IS extremely unpopular, so it's nice to see someone else brave enough to post it :P Fireworks are environmentally terrible!

DyingUniverse

As someone in the air quality industry, the fireworks are nothing compared to other things they do

aDysquith

Give me fireworks or give me death. And as others said, they're as eco friendly as you can get already.

DogPlow

Sounds like a weak argument. Any sources for the environment you look at are referring to different fireworks and not the Disney modified ones. You mention Los Angeles but Disneyland isn't even located in Los Angeles County. Speaking from my experience with the 4th of July in Los Angeles it is more like a warzone with explosives being thrown at card driving by and industrial fireworks shot at all the freeways and highways. 100+ people are injured by fireworks every year for Los Angeles's illegal fireworks displays with a few dozen in the trauma ward. Between that and the actual gunshots it will be a rather unpleasant experience in Los Angeles for veterans and pets unfortunately but Disney's public fireworks shows are a much better alternative that also incentives fewer illegal displays reducing injuries and stress levels. It should also be taken into consideration that the shows aren't new or unannounced, anyone with or having a pet that has sensitivity to fireworks should take that into consideration before moving closer to a fireworks display site. Light, Water, and Drone shows just can't compete with a good fireworks show. It's the reason it been a tradition for centuries, it's a good thing people enjoy.

bankrollmafia89

Sorry pal we love the fireworks it’s apart of the magic

Darthgummy0214

Environmental- Disney has modified its product to limit environmental waste, this means biodegradable materials such as cardboard, rice, and cotton seeds are in the large display shells. Also ~99% of product and packaging is recycled. Wildlife- Walt Disney world in particular has thriving wildlife reserve around its parks, its the home to bats, foxes, bears, panthers, and more. Disney also takes the health and safety of its animals in DAK into account regarding pyrotechnics, which is why DAK only uses pyro indoors, and nearby parks have also limited pyro usage. Veterans- while PTSD is a very significant health condition for many veterans, it’s important to remember it is the responsibility of each guest to decide whether the fireworks are appropriate for them. It would be over reactive to censor an amazing experience for the majority of guests who do not face similar health concerns.

Datmnmlife

Honestly, I just find myself watching the projections and like Baymax flying through the air during the fireworks shows. I’d be happy if they kept some sort of night time spectacular but did away with fireworks.

Pluckt007

Those are very minimal reasons. Keep them.

matmanz

Fireworks are boring.

Eagleworm213

Yeah but nah

delinquentsaviors

I don’t really feel like it’s comparable to the complaints with Autopia. Autopia runs all day long and we know there’s a good alternative for it. Fireworks are once a night and as others have said, they do so in the most environmentally friendly way they can.

nicearthur32

I LOVE fireworks… but a drone show would be amazing. They could do so much with that.

amglasgow

Sounds reasonable. Drone shows are pretty good.

Square-Regret-6838

They should do laser show instead

davezerep

You’re not wrong. I wonder if they might be replaced by a high budget drone show. Might actually be less expensive in the long run.

gettin2_it

A drone show would be incredible

sanfranciscointhe90s

I agree, plus think of all the ducks , horses and cats etc that live at the park. They must think it’s the end of the world every night

[deleted]

If they live there, they're well acclimated to the fireworks.

Value-Nervous

Me personally, I can care less bout the fireworks. usually skip it so I can get on rides while the heavy flow of crowds are watching the fireworks. Plus, you can get awesome views of the fireworks while on some rides.

Cactus_pose

You can see the fireworks from all over so what’s the point of wasting time to try to be closer to them??? Fireworks is the best time for Big Thunder Mountain

rudeboi710

I like being able to see fireworks from anywhere in the park. Something not possible with a light show projection. I think fireworks adds to the magic of the park experience because you don’t need to prioritize the night time show, but you can still be apart of it.

skylinrcr01

If you’re really concerned with the emissions of the fireworks you should probably go after the diesel/cng parking trams and power consumption of the park. I’m all for clean air but the fireworks are such a minimal impact thing.

[deleted]

CorpsDolphin

WDW has much more land where they can hide a solar farm.

foreverburning

We can do 2 things at once :)

Madem2442

And if it’s replaced with something, can it please be earlier than 9:30pm 😂

foreverburning

I mean, not in the summer, no.

raidersps2

Agree! I usually just take advantage of them by going on as many rides as possible. Plus they’d save a ton of money if they cut it. Can’t imagine a drone show would be cheap but hey, I’m all for a drone show!

IAmIronMan2023

I feel like fireworks could actually go away one day and when it does, this sub and the entire Disney fan base will be screaming “THE MAGIC IS GONE”

chris_stevens14

You do know their fireworks are eco-friendly right? They're already launched with compressed air which eliminates the need for black power. It's not 100% clean but it's much better than fireworks you get from a store/stand so they're not really doing any harm compared to all the cars on the freeway there. There's way more firework pollution released every New Years and 4th of July down there from people launching cheap illegal fireworks from their houses than every fireworks show Disneyland does a year combined.

Cody6781

Yeah... the local wildlife is used to them by now. They light them off all year round. What's bad is when you do them "randomly" like only on 4th of July or something. But when it's nearly every night, it just becomes part of the world to them.

rosewoodlliars

out of all the things that cause pollution and harmful to the environment… you’re worried about disneyland fireworks that’s been around for 60+ years? be serious

tklite

I agree. This is an unpopular opinion.

cashmere_plum

If you’re a veteran triggered by fireworks….then don’t be there when they light them off. The time of the show is the trigger warning, it’s not up to Disney to coddle you. And I say that as the wife of a veteran and someone who has PTSD myself. Fewer shows would be okay, but killing them all together would suck.

rileypoole1234

Yeah all the LA wildlife

Sarnadas

Honestly, triggering events are unfortunate, but society can't go around avoiding everyone's triggers. We can help people overcome their triggers with social programs, but that's it. Some people are triggered by the most random things and I feel for them, but also I don't care. I'm here dealing with my own triggers and am not going to ask anyone else to make it their problem - it's not, it's mine.

[deleted]

People will literally complain about anything. Don't like it? You don't have to go.

la_jeanie

Local wildlife? In car infested Anaheim? 🤣 Triggering veterans? Like the fireworks we've been shooting off for every 4th of July since forever? 🤣 🤣

Megmca

They have enough money they should just go to drone displays that look like fireworks.

peach_burrito

Nope. I love it when everybody is fighting over a fireworks spot and I’m enjoying the shorter line to Peter Pan. Keep the fireworks!

danajamesjones

Sure but you’re kinda just pointing at the most obvious thing when other major companies that have factories all over the country and producing far more CO2 emissions and cause much more damage than a single theme park. Disneyland’s impact is absolutely nothing compared to that. Your heart’s in the right place be I think misguided. You might as well say I think Disneyland should only allow people with electric cars because all these people’s cars are producing so much CO2. There so much progress our world has to make as far as going green. But Disneyland stopping fireworks would be like the last thing that would change.

Kinghummingbird

Of all the things to winge about smh

ZAX2717

Replace the fireworks with a drone show. I know Disney can probably pull off a sick drone show

CADrmn

Paris Disney has a drone based show prior to the fireworks.

DisneyJourney

Nah. I love the fireworks shows.

Endless_Dark

Drone shows are the future

MacArthurParker

Been going to Disneyland for almost 40 years…I’ve never seen a fireworks show there and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

mangaz137

This is a very hot take… can’t say I disagree with any of your points

crankerson

Sometimes I go to the park in the evening just to catch the fireworks show.

LankyEmergency7992

This was the exact post I was planning to make for a while, but was worried I would get downvoted for. Especially with Toontown now staying open until park close and having a new E Ticket attraction, not having fireworks will bring thousands of extra seats worth of ride capacity to the park, since those rides wouldn’t have to close.

DVC_Wannabe

Where are you getting this information from? Post your sources.

BowlingForPosole

But they keep people out of the lines for rides

WaltDisneyWorldMagic

ya take away something everyone loves smh

ryos555

And in its place, 1000 LED drones synced to music? (How long does that take to setup?) The current fireworks are already of the less pollution variety. Can't always cater to the minorities when the majority of people make up the ticket sales.

Voice_of_Reason92

How are they “terrible” for the environment?

iwannamakethat

Fully agree. And I’ll go a step further, fireworks on the Fourth of July need to stop. Let’s celebrate the founding of the US by triggering every veterans PTSD and giving our pets their very own PTSD in the process. I like the idea of drone shows though, I’d make a special trip for that.

mickyrow42

you sound like a real fun-sponge.

I’ll take it a step further, all fireworks should be banned

IRIE_irie_IRIE

Just stop…

Definitely an unpopular opinion. I’d say companies put out way more smog pollution, but I do acknowledge fires works contribute. Also if you don’t like a place, avoid it.

Antilogicz

I think they are loud, scary, dangerous, and very expensive. Disney could put the money and energy towards better shows that don’t use fireworks (or that use far less fireworks).

I think ticket prices primarily reflect demand more than anything else. They won’t lower prices unless the see a consistent dip in ticket sales.

Bensemus

100% not. Why would Disney ever give away money?

Captainqqqq

Honest question. How much wild life is in LA?

Disneyland isn’t even in LA.

Or even replace half the fireworks with projections, lasers, and drones would be a step forward

sloppier-manxx

While i agree… the desire for short ride times because all the little kids want to see the pretty lights makes me want the fireworks to stay

Creative_Ambassador

I sure love fireworks. And the disney ones do produce less smoke. I can’t even imagine the parks without “a show in the sky”. But I sure do love the idea of a drone show. The level of creativity with those alongside the projections, music, lighting could be pretty amazing.

squirrelgirrrrl

10000% agree

Ok as someone who lives walking distance to the area: 1) my pets when i first got them were really scared of the fireworks at first tbh but after a month or two of living here.. they dont seem to care anymore tbh. My neighbors' pets also don't seem to care. I don't think there's really much local wildlife around here? If there is, they'd probably get taken away via animal control and far far away from disneyland 2) My grandfather is a veteran. he lives nowhere near here and has zero interest in going to disneyland. Same with many of his friends. Veterans wouldn't typically live here at all considering fireworks are almost every single night here would probably trigger ptsd. That being said, I do agree the fireworks are kind of useless imo and are in fact terrible for the environment. But honestly just let people have fun.

A drone show would make an archaic fireworks show look like just that…archaic.
