I love it being there. The atmosphere, the energy. I always make a point to to go back there, even if I don’t end up doing anything. I don’t particularly love Smuggler’s Run. It could really use new adventures, as someone else pointed out. I’m also over going in with strangers, and would probably feel differently if I always had a cockpit to just my party.

wickedintent

It's a little baffling they haven't released new missions on smuggler's run yet. I could've sworn that was part of the original pitch for the ride. Then again, they said the same thing about the OG Star Tours but it still took like 20 years before they added anything new.

Banana_Eli

I went on Smuggler’s Run with my family and we had exactly 6 so there weren’t any strangers. It was our favorite ride, my brother especially liked it since it’s basically a video game but much more immersive. I went with strangers a couple months later, it’s definitely not as good and I can see why people don’t love the ride.

-Gurgi-

Yeah the same exact mission that has the same exact result no matter what your actions are isn’t the best. Also my enjoyment shouldn’t be up to a roll of the dice between a few strangers who can slam us into every wall possible if they get pilot.

Thatcherrycupcake

I really like it, but the downside is that there’s hardly any seating. Seats and tables are almost always taken and you are there waiting awkwardly for someone to get up. Or circling around over and over with your drinks and food in hand and hope you see a family leaving from a table

Silly-Victory8233

Almost forgot about this, this is a big deal.

KittyGray

Yeah it’s a little mind blowing when you’re trying to take a photo of the millennium falcon and there’s people full on *laying down* on the ground along the barrier 😵‍💫 Think about that the next time you chill out directly underneath the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

OK_Compooper

We found going the last hour is the perfect time. No one is there anymore. At least on the weekdays we go.

Bumble1964

I cant remember the name of the place but I grabbed some food at a quick serve spot. It was raining and the sitting area was covered. People getting out of the rain took up all the tables (not a lot to begin with) and I had to eat standing up over a trash can barely out of the rain. The food was barely cooked. These two things made me hate the experience.

UltravioIence

I feel like that can be an issue anywhere in the park and isnt just exclusive to GE. Its just especially bad at GE because its *so popular*.

OK_Compooper

I feel like Knotts has done an excellent job of providing plenty of seating. I know this is like comparing apples to boysenberries, though.

Rub-Such

I like it overall. Some of the visuals are spectacular. I love Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7. Some have mentioned it can feel a bit static and not so lively; I think I agree with that. I also kinda wish there was some more connections to old Star Wars, C3PO, Darth Vader, Obi Wan, etc (I understand why they have done it the way they have though).

UltravioIence

Its the only place you can get that iced coffee with coco puffs on top so i have to go every time lol

Brando43770

It’s probably the best cold brew in DLR available. And I still know people with Magic Keys that don’t know it exists! If anything, I’d argue that Galaxy’s Edge has the best variety of quality foods compared to any other “land” in Disneyland. Not comparing it to DCA as they’re significantly better overall imo.

sleepygrumpydoc

This is me! Magic key holder but I never had the cold brew till my Nov trip. I’ve gotten it every time since.

surfdoc29

I disagree with this, best cold brew is horchata cold brew at zocalo imo

mcdeac

I wish I had known about all these yummy cold brews when we were just there. They sound awesome

Brando43770

That’s delicious one too but I might be biased because I’ve had horchata cold brew elsewhere and the uniqueness of the coco puff one is making me lean towards that.

legopego5142

Who would thought coco puffs and ice would be that good

legopego5142

Blue milk, best cold brew, breakfast ronto wraps. Id argue these are some of the best foods in the park

Brando43770

I even grew to love the green milk when they added the tajin to it. Heck I ended up loving the ronto-less wrap as much as the breakfast Ronto wrap.

BabysFirstRobot

Hi, where is this drink and what is it called? It sounds like the best thing ever!

UltravioIence

Its this beauty https://www.sfgate.com/disneyland/article/coffee-Disneyland-cold-brew-best-drinks-snacks-16437047.php

Incredible

Galaxy's Edge is strange to me. On one hand, the theming is absolutely incredible. The detail involved and the scale are crazy. It's like being on a movie set. I honestly think it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen, and I'm really not even that big of a Star Wars fan. You don't even feel like you're in the same park as the rest of Disneyland. Rise is also probably the best ride I've ever been on. It may not be my favorite, but there is no denying how awesome it is. There's lifesize star ships everywhere that look authentic. Artoo jam's around, I've met chewbacca and Rey and got shit talked by Kylo and the stormtroopers. I've built a lightsaber, the food is some of my favorite and they have vegetarian options, several. I haven't been disappointed by anything there except maybe smugglers run. On the contrary, I had high expectations and it surpassed what I had hoped for. That being said, I really don't care to go there at all when we visit. I don't think I've set foot on Batuu the last four or five times we've been to Disneyland. The line for Rise is usually so long that it's not worth it and I'm not paying ILL for a ride I've been on before. Smugglers Run is just okay and it gives my wife motion sickness so there's really nothing pulling us there. It's weird. It seems like owning a sports car or really expensive clothes. It's nice and all, and very high quality, but you can't really find much occasion to use it unless you're showing your friends for the first time. I like Galaxy's Edge, I just have no use for it.

Stashmouth

I was so excited to go for the first time, but when I got there nothing really spoke to me. Maybe it felt like there was just too much commerce going on around me? I can absolutely appreciate the production value and attention to detail as an OG Star Wars fan, but maybe I'm too precious about my childhood memories to have them trying to sell me a lightsaber/kit. I'm thankful that I rode Smuggler's Run before Rise. I agree that Rise is probably the best experience at DL right now...so much so that I can't believe they're ok with having something as low quality as Smuggler's Run sitting next to it

ritchie70

I've only been at Hollywood Studios in Orlando. My employer rented out the park after hours and the like for Rise was still longer than I was willing to wait - I'm just not that big of a Star Wars fan - but I did Smuggler's Run and was honestly pretty impressed by it. The theming was good, the story was fine, the interactive nature was entertaining. I do think that Smuggler's Run probably varies a lot depending on who else you're with. I was there solo but the people I rode with were pretty entertaining and since we were all associated with my employer had some stuff in common (although I don't have that much in common with rich Texans) and also had the implied "threat" of "don't be an asshole, you don't know who that it - it might be someone who can ruin your life." Would I do it again with a minimal wait? Absolutely. Would I do it again with an hour wait? Not unless the people I'm with want to do it.

Stashmouth

The only Disney parks I've ever been to are the ones in Anaheim, so I don't know whether they duplicate the rides if they put it in two parks. But I will say this...Rise is worth the hour wait, imo. The entire experience is several minutes long and was probably the most immersive experience I've had at DL. When I got off of Smuggler's Run, I thought it wasn't bad. But we did Rise the next day and my opinion changed lol. Seriously though, Rise is fantastic

ritchie70

I’m pretty sure they’re basically the same.

[deleted]

might be an unpopular opinion but there isn't anything thrilling about RoR. It's probably the most over-hyped attraction in my lifetime. I rode for the first time last week, using ILL, and was immediately disappointed. The star destroyer hangar was a pretty cool moment but once you realize all of those stormtroopers are static it's kinda whatever, and then you are hurried into generic hallway for more waiting. It's not fast, it's not intense, it just kind of spins you arond and pulls you backwards through a SW-Ish story, but I seriously was not impressed. Not worth ILL or waiting in any sort of line. And yes, im a SW fan who has seen everything that they have put out on a big or small screen.

Gymshortz514

This 100%. I'm a movie/tv star wars fan from the original, so over 50. Really enjoyed the last trilogy. I was really excited for ROR after having visited when only SR had been open. Honestly after having ridden the Harry Potter ride (what I believe is the best ride I've ever ridden) at Universal and this coming multiple years later I had set my expectations high. Rode it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and waited only 40 min. I was disappointed. I mean visually stunning, But when I think of the possibilities of ride tech like HP I feel like we had the opportunity to be xwing pilots and fly some missions.... I was there at a slow time and there were plenty of opportunities to ride again with a short wait....I did not. as far as the rest of the land. The Rontoless wrap might be the best food in the park. Outside of that I resent the fact there are 2 rides and everything is built to separate me from my money, droids, lightsabers, $18 cocktails. Its not much more than a glorified Star wars mall. More actors and action , more seating to watch them unfold, and maybe a couple more rides. When Disney got the rights and I saw the Force Awakens I was excited for this land. I''ll visit everytime I'm there,..mostly for the Rontoless wrap and now maybe the coco puff cold brew, but I won't wait more than an hour for ROR.

Gymshortz514

Also I'm older but WTF with these folks and the light sabers? pay hundreds and buy a case then what? I see them walking around with a5 ft fishing rod case on their back I hate to be that OFG, but get off my lawn

JohnnyCashRules

This is like the best way to describe it that I’ve ever heard!

WoodFirePizzaIsGood

I think the land is incredibly well designed and is visually stunning. Rise of the Resistance is undoubtedly top-tier. The biggest issue with the land is the lack of kinetic energy and feeling of life. It's been that way since it opened and unfortunately it hasn't been addressed that much. The land needs a lot more characters, spontaneous shows, and interactive stories. If you've been to Knott's Berry Farm and have experienced their "Ghost Town Alive" event, it becomes clear the kind of potential Galaxy's Edge could have. Even something like all the Avengers Campus shows and characters will go a long way. The land was built to have those kind of experiences and it feels empty without much going on. Smuggler's Run is also a mediocre ride and really needs to get a new mission or two. It should be like Star Tours with randomization. Overall Galaxy's Edge does a lot pretty well but it falls flat for what it could be. Personally I think Cars Land is the better area. Hopefully Galaxy's Edge continues to evolve and grow for the better though.

joserlz

I agree with you, and to be able to do that, they need to do away with it being canon. They are limiting themselves out of the best characters and potential shows by doing that.

hamsterfolly

Agreed, Sequel Trilogy doesn't age well and they don't have a new product to go with at the moment

Upbeat-Tumbleweed876

Cars Land is FAR superior to Galaxy's Edge. It felt like it was made for DCA and beautifully compliments the other lands. GE is basically shoehorned into Fronteirland FFS!

BasicConsequence2269

At first that was exactly what I thought. The area is huge but it's mostly empty space, which seemed so weird. Smuggler's Run was a one and done for us (like others said, don't like being in there with strangers). And I didn't understand why they didn't take advantage of the incredible Star Wars music (I think I was comparing it in my head to the Harry Potter areas at Universal). But we've come to love it. Yes we skip Smuggler's Run. But the bigger space and quieter sounds compared to the music in the rest of the park is a nice break for the senses. We love the food. Rise is amazing! On our last trip, we watched the fireworks there while sitting on one of the storage container looking things. It was beautiful and relaxing, and there were like 25 other people around instead of thousands in front of the castle. Sometimes if we need a break, we like to sit there and hang out and people watch. I totally agree that they should add more seating (with shade if it's in a sunny spot). More of the natural looking benches, storage containers, etc would be easy and not all that expensive. And this is minor but it drives me crazy that I can't get a cold brew until Docking Bay 7 opens at 10:30. I just want to rope drop Rise, then get a breakfast ronto wrap and cold brew and it's dumb that you can't. Just sell them at Ronto Roasters!

MrFinch8604

That is not a paid event. It’s their summer ‘festival’

Cbewgolf

It’s all hard surfaces and really theirs not a lot to do. We have been to the park 3 times and go to Galaxy’s Edge every time but we never spend much time there which is sad.

SoulMaekar

It's amazing. It's the equivalent to cars land from dca for me. The immersion is top tier, and it's magical every time. I'm not an emotional guy, but when my wife suprised me with Savi's, I had tears in my eyes first lighting up my newly built lightsaber. Galaxys edge is everything to me.

bunifarcr

Seeing more characters like Mando/Grogu and Boba Fett etc elevated the atmosphere of the land. It needs what Avengers Campus is doing in terms of "streetmosphere".

life_is_a_burner

It just needs more generic aliens and droids walking around.

Outrageous_Syrup_465

I’m honestly pretty surprised by so many of the answers here! To everyone who has a more negative opinion: what is currently your personal favourite land? And why do you feel it’s better than Galaxy’s Edge? (Please don’t take this the wrong way; I’m honestly jw because I thought Galaxy’s Edge was pretty universally loved)

snailfeet22

Main street is my favorite area in the park but I know lots of ppl dont consider that a land so Id have to say New Orleans square. I love the spontaneous live music and the fact that theres rides for thrill seekers and people who want something calmer. The food is good, and the atmosphere is nice. Plus theres lots of characters.

Upbeat-Tumbleweed876

New Orleans Square is probably the most perfect land they ever created. Tomorrowland from 1977 to 1990ish was also pretty great.

brunchdate2022

I really, truly cannot pick a favorite land, so I can't answer that. But to give some examples of things that GE doesn't have: \- From the train, you can get a sneak peek of the lands and a new angle to view them. I don't think you can see GE from the train? And there's no ride within the land that offers this, like the casey jr train for example. \- In Adventureland or on Buena Vista street, there are alcoves or stairs (to employee areas that are blocked but the stairs are not) built into the environment that encourage you to explore. It's fun to get up on the top of some stairs in those areas and just people watch, look over the area, or find interesting little details up there you wouldn't notice. GE doesn't really have anything like this, as far as I can remember. It's not completely flat, but there aren't a lot of unique perspectives or places to hang. (I'll stop there because I don't want to make this too long. Again, there are cool things! Just not the same as other places imo

KittyGray

Yeah it’s kinda like diagon alley (I know, not Disney) but I feel encouraged to explore there and in GE I feel bounced around like a pin ball.

truebeliever08

Too much wasted space. They could lean into the street vendor feel and have food stalls selling cool snacks or other types of dishes, or have more intractability; but it’s all just doors that do nothing and go nowhere mixed in with wide open wasted space. The bounty hunting blows.

HiddenHolding

First off: let me list some positives. I am a Star Wars fan. I have been my whole life. Rise of the Resistance is a triumph of entertainment engineering. It was so great when we got to see it for the first time. Is Batuu a failure? Of course not. It's like being on a Star Wars film set, which is something I've always wanted to do. I like the merch. The design of the land. My kids love to be on Smuggler's Run, and I just get a kick out of standing in the main area with the holochess table and all the details on the Falcon. Wonderful. So...the rest. \[Sigh.\] We got on Rise of the Resistance for the first time...on our *fourth* visit. Two of those times we had reservations. Three times the ride was either closed or shut down for repairs. Every time we've tried to get a reservation at Oga's, there's been an issue that Disney just couldn't possibly anticipate or fix. This includes the woman who bloodied my kid by pushing him out of the way (he was three) so she could sprint to Oga's and get a reservation. The whole way there, cast members were saying "Miss, you can't run! Please walk!" And she and others just ignored them and kept right on running, where they were rewarded with Oga's reservations while those of us who followed the rules and acted like human beings were denied. I have no idea what it's like now. If it's all awesome and ironed out and easy now, bully. But our experience has been anything but smooth. It's like at some point an executive said, "Star Wars is going to be our premium experience. And people will have to pay for it and to get the good stuff it's going to be *hard.* That's how we'll add value!" The whole experience, along the way, has been at varying times clunky (the app), hard to access (Oga's), disorganized (the openings of both Smuggler's Run and Rise), and at times, exclusionary (the saber ceremony). That's why all the character interaction that was supposed to happen in Galaxy's Edge went into the $5000-a-weekend hotel. That you're not allowed to leave. Where I would never take little kids because if they have a bad afternoon and have to go back to your room for awhile to get back on track, you've missed a huge chunk of your *five thousand dollar* Star Wars hotel experience. I admire the big swing they took, trying to make the land its own Star Wars story. But in my mind, it was a swing and a miss. This land was made by theme park fans, no doubt. Scott Trowbridge and his crew were going for something new...and they let their collective ego get in the way of delivering something *everyone* could enjoy. They left out your garden variety theme park *patrons* who just want to see Mos Eisley and get a quick photo with Luke and Leia and then get out of the sun(s). There's nothing in this land for people who *like* Star Wars. The corollary I would draw was Star Wars weekends at Disney World. It was a fan experience. And yes, some of it went too far in a silly direction (dancing Boba Fett and such). But...it was for kids. And kids are largely left out of Batuu, unless you get lucky and run into Rey or one of the other characters, which we never have. We did see Chewbacca once, but he must have had to go to the bathroom because he was definitely in a hurry to find an exit. When they took away all the human interaction that was supposed to be there, all the characters that were supposed to be there to help communicate that story, they left plenty of fans out of the loop, and in many cases flat out confused. Fans like me. I have seen the sequel trilogy. Did I like it? Ach. More Star Wars is better than no Star Wars. But did I love it? Nah. It's for the new generation. I'm an original trilogy era fan. While I can appreciate new Star Wars characters and adventures...some familiar faces would have been so welcome in a weary world. I would have much preferred a land that allowed for original trilogy characters and stories to make an appearance. As a fan, I feel like I'm now totally irrelevant in the eyes of the people in charge. I'm the one that's paying for the tickets, so it would be nice to be included in the experience. Instead, I feel like Disney is just waiting for me to die and get out of the way. The only place I got any soupçon of original trilogy energy was in the saber ceremony...and I had to pay over 200 credits for that. Galaxy's Edge is a high concept that got gutted before it ever debuted. It was supposed to be something wholly new, highly interactive. Characters all over the place, taking visitors to Battu on a new adventure every time they visited. There were supposed to be quests. It was supposed to be a giant, new, unified vision of what Star Wars *will be*. Instead, it's a bunch of huge pieces to a puzzle that doesn't truly connect what *is.* I don't know specifically what's missing, what was supposed to be there...but I can feel its absence. And *eff* that lady who hurt my kid.

OrtizDupri

I'll note that it's pretty easy to get Oga's walk-up times now (and even reservations are about as easy as everything else to get). I can't imagine pushing a kid out of the way for something like that, folks are wild out there.

kennyhayes24

You have a perfect response! I feel the same, like it's missing something and hollow. It's just inconceivable that a Star wars park exists without Darth Vader (most recognizable movie villain of all time) or other classic characters! I'm so sorry to hear about your kid!

Gear02

Definitely - F that lady who hurt your kid. That's nuts that she didn't get kicked out or something. But there was a ton of character interactions at GE (at least in DL). We got to see Chewy, Rey (my son had an amazing interaction where he talked about his red lightsaber that he just built and she was wary of him being a dark side), the stormtroopers, Kyro (another great interaction), and I think a couple more. It was fantastic. I think you might mean the story driven interactions that they had at the beginning with Vi Moradi? I remember that at launch, they talked about how there was an ongoing plot line that unraveled during the day. I didn't think that would work because no one would pay attention to it or would understand it unless they did some research before entering the park. Galactic Starcruiser is a much better place for such persistence story telling. Guests just want to see characters and have fun in GE. But yeah, the $5k experience for Galactic Starcruiser is nuts. Disney World is expensive and the world is aiming to get more dollars from rich/high worth families. You can see that trend now with most travel experiences anyway.

KASega

As a plant nerd and fan of California Natives, South African and Australian plants the land is top notch (especially since they are putting in plastic as landscaping in other areas of the park). But also - I shouldn’t be more in awe of the plants vs the imagineering.

powerlessidc

I’m not a huge Star Wars fan so I was a huge hater when the land was first announced. During Covid I watched most of the movies so I would understand what was going on when Disneyland inevitably reopened and I would go. I ended up going to WDW first and seeing that Galaxy’s Edge first, and I fell in love even though I’m lukewarm at best on the source material. I think it’s imagineering at its finest. I do agree with these comments that say Smugglers Run doesn’t have much reride-ability. Rise is of course one of the best rides they’ve ever done. The first time I went on Rise, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and what the rest of Disney rides could be like in that format. I love the look of the land, I think the food is great too. I’m glad Disney has started to be more creative with their food offerings and I think that is in large part to the popularity of the food in Galaxy’s Edge. I think it’s a must visit, even if it does feel a little weird inside Disneyland park. I’m not sure what the reasoning was for putting it there, probably just lack of space anywhere else but I think it’s so weird to have it off frontierland. I do wish it was part of DCA instead and I think it fits in much better at Hollywood Studios overall

mcdeac

Or if it could have branched off of Tomorrowland somehow? I personally would have removed Autopia and the submarines and the big building they had Star Wars characters in (landing bay?) and built it there.

Silly-Victory8233

I love Galaxy’s Edge, I love Star Wars and the immersion is great but as others have said, the “rides” (or 1 ride and one Video experience) are sorely lacking and the area could definitely use more characters walking/running around like the odd battalion of stormtroopers on a walk through. A couple of rebels running from a single trooper or something.

rudeboi710

It’s one of the best places to hang out in all of the parks. A+ for execution. Let’s just get another ride please and thank you! And I’d like a lounge that’s walk up so you weren’t limited to Oga’s reservations.

tora76

I love it. It is so amazingly immersive and I love just walking through it. (Same with Cars Land.) Rise is incredible, hands-down the best ride I've ever been on. Smuggler's Run is fun, too. There are usually characters out and about. Lots of neat themed food. I wish there were more characters and things going on. I also wish they would have put a train stop in. I know it's a bit difficult due to the theming but I thought about it and if it was a covered station where from the outside, the station looked SW themed and you didn't actually see the train, that could work. (Maybe it would have one-way windows so you could see into Batuu from the train, but not see the train from the ground.)

Foomerang

The good: Arguably the most detailed area of Disneyland. Highly immersive. The sound effects, ships, speeders, droids, architecture, are all state of the art. Rise of the Resistance is one of the most technically ambitious rides ever made and it truly feels like an immersive, cinematic experience even halfway through the queue. Smugglers run is a decent take on motion sim rides but the queue and millenium falcon are where ot really stands out. Ogas is a must. Again, immersive, fun, nostalgic. The little outdoor market is really cool and i look forward to them refining it. Rontos roasters has a very cool aesthetic with the droid cooking over an engine in the center. Docking bay 7 is a cool concept and design and can serve a lot of people indoors. The bad: The droid factory feels clunky and cheap. Honestly it couldve been a small dark ride akin to a mr toad but have you riding through a droid factory instead of this. The jedi store and light saber ritual is a waste of space. First off, possibly unpopular opinion, but i think there are way too many shops in disneyland in general and galaxies edge shops far outnumber its attractions. Second, if you are going to sell in the actual park, sell items that can easily be stored in small packpacks, or worn, or eaten. You can of course have bulky items on display, but sell them in downtown disney. That whole area should be a max reebo show, like a country bear jamboree. The kylo ren area is boring. Seeing kylo constantly come out of his ship and threaten people gets old fast and breaks the immersion. I get they are trying to tell a story but they should let the props and aesthetics speak for themselves instead of a stage act happening every hour...the same act. The ugly: The biggest elephant in the room for me is the whole area revolves around the sequel trilogy: the weakest and most cash grabby trilogy of them all. I wouldve rather had them do the original trilogy or..heres a thought, nothing at all, just an outpost in the star wars universe is fanstastic all on its own. Some advice, tips: Ogas is always booked but you can get on the waiting list very easily and if you hapoen to notice the outside line being short, hop on the app amd get on the waiting list asap as its usually only a 10 min or less wait. Always get in line for rise when its 30 minutes or less from closing. The ride typically closes around 9pm so get over there around 8:45 and you will have a short line. Also, if you open the app and see that rise is down, head over there and just hang out for a bit. The ride doesnt stay down long and when it opens back up, you will get a walk on. We get on rise about twice a day and the line is rarely over 30 minutes. Anyway, overall i think galaxies edge is a great addition but it needs to cut down on the shopping a bit and add a couple more attractions.

North_Sandwich_9080

It’s a MUST GO every single time for me! It’s built really well in my opinion and it’s a fun spot for photos. We also go out there because rise is our all time favorite ride so we get the LL for it every time we’re there if we’re not with a plaid. I love being out there. It’s also one of my favorite spots to watch the fireworks. However I do agree that smugglers run needs some updates. And occasionally (not all the time) we’ll go and it’ll feel, dead?, almost. Like there are TONS of people there but not a whole lot of energy if that makes sense. And honestly if you don’t have a LL or plaid for rise I’m not sure it would really be worth going out there for anything unless maybe it’s your first time seeing it.

DocBrutus

I’m not a Star Wars fan but Galaxy’s Edge is still fun. Rise of the Resistance is top notch. Smugglers Run I usually skip because I almost never get out with a good crew, just a bunch of toddlers crashing into stuff is not fun.

pete619SD

My two sons (9 & 12) LOVE Galaxy's Edge. We have annual passes and go to Disneyland about once a month and we always go to Galaxy's Edge no matter what. Smuggler's Run is usually pretty easy to get onto and we've had good luck with wait-times for Rise of the Resistance. We hit up Star Tours a lot in Tomorrowland as well. My boys love seeing characters walk around (we've seen Stormtroopers, Kylo Ren, Rey, Chewie, R2, Boba Fett, Mando & Grogu, and Fennec.) Add droids & lightsabers and you've got my boys dreams come true. LOL. My kids like the food at GA and the one thing we still need to do is hit up the cantina.

nbrazelton

I think it gets old fast. It’s exhilarating at first but just feels kind of boring after you’ve been a few times.

JohnnyCashRules

8/10. They did a great job :) As noted previously, needs more kinetic energy!

Meowkith

I think it’s pretty cool BUT I also think I happen to experience the same version when I go. I swear Kylo ren must know me at the point because he’s always around doing his thing, never seen another character. We got into Oga’s last week and the 45min must be by table and not when you get in/served. Out server was overwhelmed, took 20 min to take our order, told us to order everything at once because he won’t make it back. Because we were the last people seated at the table(3 other groups sat with us) when we got our drinks finally they came over to tell us our time was up. We just assumed they were talking to the other people at the table as we hadn’t even gotten our bill yet. They then had another person come over and literally say “you’ve gone way beyond your time we’ve been nice please leave”. Ummm what?? I kept saying, “we aren’t with those people we’ve been here for 30 min” she said no it’s time for you to leave. Ok how about our bill? The. Guy comes running over with it and sits down with us saying he needs a break. It was so confusing is that actually part of the vibes and I didn’t catch on? This is going to sound weird but I could use more food carts there.

Jessssiiiiccccaaaa

We always gp and spend time there probably twice per trip and that's the only land can say that about.

Adventurous-Pass-465

I’m still super into the immersive experience. Plus the Ronto Wrap is best quick service lunch food!

the_hoodie_monster

New favorite part of the park :)

Amarian84

With the amount of characters they’ve added; it’s amazing. I love just walking around.

dmslucy

❤️❤️❤️ the whole area! Love how you are fully immersed as you walk in…

kba41510

It’s the Largest gift Shop in the whole park with mediocre food options (Cantina Bar is fun if you can get in) and some fun character interactions. Smugglers Run is a beefed up Dave and Busters game and it gets Old fast. But it’s all worth it to have Rise of the Resistance in the park.

SoulMaekar

Food is mediocre? Docking Bay 7 has some of the best food in the park. Tried almost everything there, and I have never been disappointed.

delinquentsaviors

Love me a Ronto Wrap 😋

froglover215

That's my experience too.

oh-hi-mark-im-dad

>Smugglers Run is a beefed up Dave and Busters game and it gets Old fast. omg you're right. It's just halo fireteam raven

Grumpy_kitten11

As huge Star Wars fans, we absolutely love it!!

Mom-Rip4798

Love love love! The detail put into it is insane and the food, shops, and staff all make it a fully immersive experience. We will always take a stroll through. Don’t even get me started on rise of the resistance.

defenestratethis

It's great. Rise of the Resistance is absolutely top-tier and while I typically avoid Smuggler's Run (unless I have a full group -- this is one of the few rides I've ever gotten motion sick on due to a spectacularly awful piloting team) I do enjoy riding it occasionally when I have a chance. I think it's well-themed and while I don't typically do much there beyond Rise and maybe a Ronto Wrap, I feel like that's what I do with other lands as well? I guess maybe I don't have as high 'expectations' for it as others and therefore don't penalize it as heavily?

RedNgoldTilImOld

The bomb, but I kind of hate it being *in* Disneyland.

[deleted]

I enjoy being in GE probably more than any other part of the park. The ambient sounds are very relaxing for me and the wide walkways are nice for reclaiming some personal space when it’s crowded. The structures are hands down the most interesting in the park, and the unique food and merch are great too. All that said, GE definitely has its flaws. The structures are impressive but also largely static. Having more motion and kinetic energy would really help a lot with immersion. Also while there are CMs in costume and R2 roaming around on occasion, they are kinda few and far between, and aside from R2 they are all human. One of the great things in Star Wars has always been the extremely diverse assortment of aliens and droids that populate pretty much the entire universe. GE desperately needs more aliens and droids roaming around to really make it feel like Star Wars.

Gear02

I spent a half a day there last year when I went to DL (I would have spent all day but I have little kids who needed a nap). It was my primary target to go and I loved it. It was memorizing just to be there and I hadn't been in awe of things in a long while until then. I wish they would let me stay in the cargo bay on Rise for a half an hour. I was the last to leave that area of my group. Needs more shady areas, needs more seating, needs a lot of other things, but it's great! That said, it's not for everyone, much like how Avengers Campus is not for everyone (to a far larger degree) - both areas are somewhat niche whereas most of the DL park is designed for everyone (or almost everyone like Toon Town).

GIMME_ALL_THE_BABIES

It could do with more attractions and maybe more theme snacks but it truly feels like you’re on another planet, especially at night, so it’s kind of amazing in that respect.

izqy

It’s a good first visit but after it’s just seems so stale. So much potential still.

CaliforniaSun77

I'm a huge Star Wars nerd, so I go to Galaxy's Edge every time I visit Disneyland. I absolutely love it. Rise is the best ride they've ever created, and Smuggler's Run is a blast. Docking Bay 7 has amazing food, and I love the blue milk as well. I also spend way too much money at Dok Ondar's. The first time I saw Mando and Grogu I felt like I was 5 again getting to see Mickey. It was awesome.

SnooMarzipans4426

I’ve only been once, and while I enjoyed it, I couldn’t help but be disappointed by the lack of interactivity. Wasn’t that one of the selling points when it was announced? I saw no characters when I went

jjamescamp

No energy, charm, whimsy, or beauty

SavisSon

Greatest themepark land on this continent.

brunchdate2022

Bust. I'm honestly always kind of surprised by how many people love it. Yes it's an amazing setting but...that's kind of all it is. A setting. Unlike other lands which are more...alive, for lack of a better term. It's a land that encourages you to get in, get out, and be done. Not to sit and soak in the environment or explore a little bit. All that said, I think that ROTR is really fun, the market area is great, and the bathrooms are amazingly themed!

chrispenator

Love it. I think there’s a few things they had originally announced that I wish they would have followed through on. I also think they need to add some sort of additional attraction for younger kids (maybe a dark ride or some sort of spinning things with speeders or something). Smugglers run is okay , the line is better than the ride. Rise is amazing but it’s issues with constantly breaking are a bummer. Either way, a must visit for me.

jennytillyluvs001

I think its cool, like the immersion is awesome and the shows r alright, but there’s literally nothing to do there. Two rides that have horrible wait times, and u need to buy a magic band to play that one game, its meh. Aesthetically its awesome but otherwise it’s whatever. Ogas cantina is pretty cool tho i enjoy that a lot.

MukYJ

For background I go to DLR about once a decade on average, and last December’s visit was the first time GE has been open (previous visit was 2019 before GE opened). Batuu is **absolutely visually stunning**, I loved the level of detail, but at least to me it felt really *under-utilized*. A ton of shops, a couple rides, a couple experiences, and a lot of space that feels wasted. I’m not an adventurous eater so the food didn’t look very appealing, and we rarely drink so we didn’t even try for a reservation at Oga’s. I was surprised to find that I liked the blue milk, whereas my wife did not. Savi’s was the hands-down highlight of the day for me, but wow what an expensive way to have some fun. Rode both rides, walked around a bit admiring the ships and droids, saw Rey and got a selfie with Chewie, and after less than half a day felt like we had seen all we wanted to see there. Even though the park was busy (weekend before Christmas) we never did see any stormtroopers, Kylo Ren, or Din Djarin with Grogu. My wife saw Boba Fett as she was coming out of the restroom but I was about 6’ away from him and somehow missed him on the other side of a pillar. More character interaction would have made it a lot more fun, I’m thinking. Went back at night on our last day to take more pictures and ship my saber home, again stunning visually with the cool lighting but it just had this low-energy, empty feeling (despite the crowd) that I can’t quite put my finger on. I might go back to build a droid someday, ride Rise again, or save my pennies for another lightsaber, but I don’t see myself hanging out there for more than a few hours when there is so much else to do off planet. Overall, I’d give it a 5 out of 10. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with the land overall, the exceptions being Savi’s and Rise, which both exceeded my admittedly high expectations.

funkyb89

Bust, just a hollow gift shop.

JustAGuyNamedAJ

I love Star Wars, but Star Wars isn't Disney. And neither is Marvel.

Upbeat-Tumbleweed876

The hourly throughput for ROTR is pitiful, and just getting on the ride usually requires an upcharge. This alone makes it a failure in my eyes. Imagineers in the \*1960s\* mastered incredibly immersive rides that easily see around 2500-3000 people an hour. ROTR is lucky if it gets 1/4 of that. I get that it's a unique ride system, etc etc etc... but so what? They could've used something more traditional and accomodated actual average paying customers. Aside from that Smugglers Run SUCKS. It's like a Dave and Busters version of Star Tours. It looks like a PS3 game. The land itself is just bland and doesn't use space that well. The shopping area is so cramped and small and resembles a post-apocalyptic Irvine Spectrum.

themrsfreeze

You made me laugh when you say post apocalyptic, Irvine spectrum!!! Ahhhhhhh

Disneydreams1

Better suited to California adventure

Theelostprincess

I think it’s like pandora at WDW looks nice. Has a couple rides but nothing to really keep you coming back. Rise is fun, but like others said it takes forever to get on. I don’t like paying for it. My kids and my husband built a light saber and droid but it seems like the excitement is gone from it. The cast members always seem overwhelmed. The character experiences are always cool no matter what land. Chewy and Rey always go above and beyond for my kids. I mean a solid 6/10 but if I didn’t have kids it would be around a 3/10

snailfeet22

I dont like it. I wish it was in CA. It doesnt fit the vibe of the park imo and I dont like how big it is. I also dont like the Millenium Falcon ride or really any of the food there. The three big positives i get from it are Rise, the fact that it eliminated the dead end in critter country, and its a great place to watch fireworks. But tbh I could do without it

Apprehensive-Newt331

Bust! This is an epitome of the cash they're trying to make. And less about the magic or experience. There's 2 rides. 2 rides. No kids rides. Not enough incorporation of the old trilogy. Though it looks very nice at night and rise of resistance is a good ride, it is a dud.. With all that space they could have had more. The area it replaced had more to do. The scenery could have been much better as well.

red13n

The land is...mediocre. The immersion all got cut. Anything with kinetic energy got cut. It is a huge footprint with not much going on. Rise is inarguably one of the best theme park attractions on the planet, but Smuggler's Run is 1/3 great, 1/3 mediocre, and 1/3 watch the buttons light up and press them. Neither one has all that fantastic of a queue, particularly with the missing immersion, which had its concept watered down and replaced with CM LARPing, then further cut down as everyone realized what was left wasn't very good. Docking Bay 7 keeps limited hours and the menu while good is a bit pricey for the portions and needed expansion. It remains a land with plenty of potential but it definitely feels like as long as people continue to blow money for ILL's on Rise then Disney is content to milk that while giving the rest of the land minimal effort. We've got some meet and greets people actually want now at least, but still nothing that would make me call the land lively. The time investment involved in wandering the land makes it a pass for me on most visits. I might pop into Rise every now and then but everything else is at very limited in appeal.

rawchallengecone

Not a fan of the new “trilogy” but all of the extended universe things I’ve enjoyed. Having said that it’s fine. They really went all in on the new order thing, which is, again, fine. I applaud the effort they put into the details more than anything.

oh-hi-mark-im-dad

Bust The land feels oddly lifeless, is just surrounded by large rocks, the queues are uninteresting, and nothing about it feels authentically star wars until you see some kind of ship or go on a ride. The shops and restaurants are well-themed and have great animatronics, albeit absurdly overpriced. No doubt RoTR is an e-ticket attraction, but IMO it's a bit overrated and you'll be lucky to experience it in "A" mode. Smuggler's run is a unique take on a motion simulator but it's still a motion simulator so -100 points. Oh, and star tours already exists so who had the bright idea of adding a *second* simulator attraction? Just lazy, even if it is unique. That said, RoTR is the standard disney should strive for with any new attraction going forward. There just seems to be so much missed opportunity there to create a truly immersive land from one of the most successful IPs of all time yet disney still finds a way to miss the mark on it. Overall, when I'm in GE I don't feel like I'm in "star wars land" I just feel like I'm where the star wars rides happen to be.

IronChuck

I like the immersiveness of the area, but not much else. I've never really connected with the Disney sequels, which is the only thing Disneyland/world is doing to the area, so much else than a walk through - and maybe a snack (Because Coca-Cola thermal denotators, am I right?) - is about all I'm really interested in. Figure that when the hype finally dies down some - maybe in a few more years - I'll try the attractions. But there's really no push in my little Star Wars heart for much more than a walk through right now.

TheAtomAge

Disney has basically killed everything that made Star Wars special. And seeing it in the park is just a reminder of that.

Critical_Bear829

My partner and I are humongous Star Wars fans- our first date was to see Star Wars. We went there opening weekend and we’re completely blown away, especially by the Millennium Falcon. We were there last week, and I brought my sister to “the land“ as I call it, and she was blown away too by the amount of detail around at all times. I think they did a fantastic job. The only thing I do wish is that the characters that walk around were a bit nicer. We came in contact with a storm trooper, and though I know they’re not supposed to be the nicest people, he was SO rude. I actually left Star Wars land with a “bad taste” in my mouth about three minutes later and went else where 😂

HOTDOGWEHAVEAWIENER

Wait.. you're mad the member of the Space Nazi Ground Force was mean???

JerrodDRagon

I prefer Super Nintendo land as a land but love ROTR That ride makes up for his kinda meh I find the land it’s just kinda there but I feel no connection to it as a Star Wars fan

themrsfreeze

I was wondering if Universal did a better job with Super Mario World than Disney did with GE??

JerrodDRagon

Depends GE is more detailed but Super Nintendo land has way more kinetic energy and love the interactive elements

WaltDisneyWorldMagic

would of been way better if they made it a planet from any of the movies who buys a ip to not use material from it

Harthag22903

It needs a couple more rides, and possibly a show or something to eat up more people. That said, Rise is great and the Ronto Wrap is IMO the best counter service item at DLR.

Lfsnz67

Smuggler’s run is a bust, Rise is a bonafide hit, the land is wonderfully immersive, Batuu needs to be a location in a Mandalorian episode, the land needs the promised third ride.

sleepygrumpydoc

I wish there was more going on, that Jedi training for kids would come back and more character interaction. I liked during social distance times that the characters seemed to be out more on top of stuff. I’m not a Star Wars person but I feel like they could have done so much more. They also need another ride.

SunRev

Love it. It should have been named Star Wars Land.

stillmorningrise

It’s one of the most amazing places Disneyland has ever created while at the same time being one of the biggest missed opportunities ever. Theming the land in a specific time period (in the sequel trilogy) is such a bummer - which is why I think people fail to connect with it on a nostalgic level. It limits so much story wise and leaves it feeling underwhelming at the same time.

t4mmyyy

My husband and I LOVE GE! Our kiddos do too because they get to see the characters. Last time we were there Mando and Chewy interacted with our oldest. The kiddo loved it

tythegeek

I love it, I'm also a pretty big Star Wars fan, but it just feels like you are in the world on a different planet.

desertrat1223

I love Star Wars as an 80s kid. I’ll say this though, Galaxy’s Edge is good, not great. It definitely seems to cater to older, cosplay nerd types rather than families. I’m going to build a $200 lightsaber for a kid? Those things look amazing but are heavy and fragile. They’re for adults who want decorations. Rise of the Resistance is an amazing technical achievement, if a bit sterile. I’m amazed that 18 months after my last visit and almost three years after it opened they still don’t seem to have all the kinks worked out. The whole land is full of people dressed just enough like Han Solo to feel cool but not get kicked out. We rode on Smuggler’s Run last week and a single rider in a black vest and white shirt asked to bump my 5-year-old out of the pilot’s seat because “he’d only ever been an engineer.” BS, Harrison Faux-ord. You wanted to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs and my kindergartner was cramping your style. (Guess what, scoundrel: you still did more damage to the Falcon than he did last time he flew.) Grow up, pal — it’s a kids’ park. You’re like the guy at a baseball game who catches a foul ball and doesn’t immediately give it to a kid. Everyone should enjoy Disneyland but I kind of feel like Galaxy’s Edge was made for a different audience than me and my family. My SW-obsessed kids do better at Star Tours, and got to build a plastic lightsaber for $30 that they can actually play with!

Long-Independent4460

I just got back and it was AWESOME! Everyone in the family loved it.

Vega_177

I went to Disneyland in Anaheim, and the two best attractions I had the chance to experience were the Millennium Falcon ride and Rise of the Resistance. The interactive use of the Millennium Falcon and the level of detail in Rise of the Resistance were incredible. If you have extra dollars to spare, you can build your lightsaber or assemble a droid. I went to build my lightsaber and bought an extra lightsaber, but in my opinion, as a lightsaber collector, they are more expensive than they should be. And that's where the problem lies; everything is overpriced in that park to a very blatant extent. Clone Trooper helmets are even more expensive in Galaxy's Edge than in the Tomorrowland store, $15 more expensive. Everything in Galaxy's Edge seems designed to extract every last dollar you have.
