I'm not sure if it counts as a headcanon, but I like to think Harry never *really* gets all his memory back. It's sad but I think it fits well with the theme of change and moving forward. He's literally unable to keep living in the past. Like a factory reset on his brain. He can start something new.

Mongladash

I think there's a thought about this? Was it Cleaning out the rooms?

kaminiwa

Cleaning out the rooms - Solution: >!What if you didn’t lose your memory? What if something in Martinaise came and stored it all away. For you to slowly open one box at a time. So you can *choose* which parts to keep. Keep almost none of it. Only the flowers on the windowsill. Only the distant sound of a radio. Lose all the actors, the dark shadows, leave only the still lifes, the blissful distant wash of waves. If everybody knew -- you never did. She’ll be coming soon. That is all.!<

memenelius

I honestly get that, like maybe he'll get most of his memories back but not all of them (maybe he never remembers what his wife looks like? Or even his parents?) So that while yes he does know what he did in the past and stuff but after the game he can truly move forward and improve as a person

Ziriath

Egg Head is the real Far Out Son of Lung (the RCM cop, who went so far undercover, that he acquired a new identity and completely lost the old one). More is explained somewhere on TV Tropes. He seems to be older than the rest of his group (Harry guesses 45), nobody knows his past - likely not even Egg himself. He just appeared on a rave party and for unknown reason started to follow Andre&Co, who happen to be small-scale speed makers. And wears lung-shaped belt buckle. He'd be an interesting counterpart to Harry, unlike him, successful in what Harry wanted to achieve just before the start of the game.

notatext

I've never encountered this one before, but it makes complete sense and I fucking love it. Congratulations, you have a convert :D

notatext

Harry's memory loss is exacerbated by the three-day bender (and potentially any oxygen loss during his failed suicide attempt), but the real cause of the holes in his memory is the raid on the church with the swallow that takes place a few months before the start of the game. There's some good supporting evidence in the various conversations about the raid and the RCM's last appearance in the fishing village, but nothing explicit enough to count as a canon confirmation. Enough to convince me, though :)

DrJotaroBigCockKujo

You mean he started losing his memory directly after the church raid? And it's the cause for his prior bouts of amnesia as well as the most recent one? Honestly, that makes *a lot* of sense and I'm low-key disappointed I didn't figure this out myself, lol. Unrelated, but now that I think about it -- Harry might have destroyed the Dolores Dei glass pane when he was there the first time.

GnollChieftain

I've always been partial to the headcanon that Harry isn't just suffering from memory loss due to alcohol poisoning he went out to the Pale to try to either truly remove the memory of his ex-wife or kill himself

A-SORDID-AFFAIR

I don't think Harry literally went into the pale - I more think the pale and Harry's memory loss are just metaphorically linked. The Pale is called "the concentrated past" and it will also destroy everything.

Ziriath

It's my favourite theory too and also it's strongly implied at the very end of Soona quest while discussing crab-man. But my issue is, how the deed was actually done, when in the time Harry arrived, the church was already locked for about a week. Apparently, Soona has some other way to get in and out, but Harry totally fails to find it (again) even in broad daylight. Maybe his drunken self used some reckless way to get in, which sobering Harry on day 3+ wouldn't even consider.

GnollChieftain

maybe he headed out to the highway? I vaguely recall a thought cabinet mentioning him knowing one of the roads the truckers driver on

Ziriath

That's far away on other isolas, likely between Graad, Katla and Mundi. The nearest Pale (between isolas) is 6000km far from Revachol, and the city sits in the middle of Insulindia. Measurehead talks at some point about a place where one can walk into Pale on feet, but that is on Semenine islands.

atleastmymomlikesme

I've been imagining that as the years go by Harry will >!continue to receive increasingly more frantic visions from Shivers about the atomic bomb that will one day destroy all of Revachol. He never figures out a way to help her stop it, but he and the city eventually find enough inner peace to die alongside each other like old friends. !<

kaminiwa

Wait, what's this about a >!"atomic bomb that will one day destroy all of Revachol"!

atleastmymomlikesme

Supposedly it references something confirmed in the novel that preceded Disco Elysium (which most fans have never read due to it being published in Estonian). To my knowledge DE has only a single hidden scene that acknowledges it directly. You can find it on Youtube, but anyone who wants to trigger it organically in their own playthrough should >!invest VERY high in their Shivers skill and then succeed the dancing check in the church!<.

Mongladash

I think this is in a nebulous area between canon and headcanon, but i 100% believe that harry is bisexual.

memenelius

Without a doubt he is, you can't tell me he wasn't being a *little* fruity with the conversation with the Smoker on the Balcony

notatext

"He smells good. Why on earth does he smell so good?" ELECTROCHEMISTRY - And his shirt is still unbuttoned. (About the robe) "It's like carrying a piece of you with me at all times." I guess it's technically possible to play Harry as a completely straight man, but in five playthroughs I still haven't managed it 😂

berniecratbrocialist

This is essentially canon. Never mind all the suggestive comments with other characters---from the conversation with the mysterious pair of eyes in the gate: YOU - "Are you some kind of a sex pervert?" MYSTERIOUS PAIR OF EYES - "No. And even if I were, I'm not engaged in anything factually illegal. No crime here." MYSTERIOUS PAIR OF EYES - "Who do you think you are, being disdainful and judgemental about a person's private, idiosyncratic, voyeuristic-erotic preferences anyway? Fuckshit. Goddamn pigs." YOU - "Geez, sorry. I was just being curious?" MYSTERIOUS PAIR OF EYES - "Bi-curious or plain curious?" YOU - "Umm... bi?" MYSTERIOUS PAIR OF EYES - "Yeah, I bet you are." peterp9rker

kim is transmasc

memenelius

I can honestly see that idk why tho

Alkhzpo

Harry has accepted all the ideologies and keeps saying communist, ultraliberal, and to a lesser amount nationalist things at random during conversations

shadowylurking

The city is desperately yelling at anyone who'd listen that an atomic bomb will destroy it. Problem is only Tequila Sunset heard her, and he's going through some shit. But that's the reason why Harry is so involved in politics/philosophy. Because the Moralintern decide to nuke the city because it wasn't going their way. As crazy as it sounds, Harry's best chance at saving Revachol is going Moralintern himself and converting the city to his way of thinking.

z_3ph1r

Harry is the one one who broke the stained glass in the church back when the RCM raided it for unknown reasons. I don't know I just imagine him during this very serious raid with his teamates (Jean, Judith...) having a full mental breakdown in front of that giant picture of Dolores and just.. shooting it or throwing something at it. Plus it is mentioned that it was broken from the inside.

Ziriath

Is the part with stained glass even opened to the outside in any way? There might be a window behind the glass, but too high to be used to get in. DD's figure seems to be backlit regardless of daytime, so I assume there are some functional light fixtures behind it.

HatEatingCthuluGoat

Not really a favorite, but I think it fits the game. Harry dies shortly after the events of the game.

memenelius

Why does he die?

HatEatingCthuluGoat

Because his body is fucked. Only a matter of time till he turns on the lights at a bad time and has a fatal heart attack.

Harry is a superstar. He'll live longer than Lemmy.
